This nature center is the western visitor's center for the Indiana Dunes National Park. Plenty of great information, staffed with ranger, and walk outside for some of the best trails in the park. One of them even connects to a cool beach on Lake Michigan. Only two block north of Miller Beach downtown where there are some nice local spots to eats and cute boutiques. The Marquette Trail connects this center directly to West Beach which is a beautiful walk and mostly very good on bicycle.

We have regularly visited the nature center and the nature play area, but recently we found out what a gem the trails out to the lake are. Great views and wildlife opportunities reward hikers the whole way. We really enjoy stopping to talk to the rangers and following them on hikes!

This is one of my favorite gems along Lake Michigan's West Coast, I guess this is more SW. Stopping at many of the great locations from Sleeping Bear to the Miller Beach area this is by far one of my favorite! So much diversity in plant life and the landscape that you don't normally see along the lakeshore.

Amazing trails. Tons of birds, flowers, turtles, frogs, and plenty of other wildlife. The nature center is full of interesting local info and exhibits. I've been there 4 times this year with the family.

The Paul H. Douglas nature center is spectacular! Set in a gorgeous location with water on two sides. Especially great for birdwatching!

I didn't get the chance to do any of the trails here yet, but it's on my list for next time! From a quick glance, it looks beautiful. I am leaving a 5 star review because I was thankful they had an open restroom! Park maps are available here for pickup, and the free sticker if you've completed the "Diana of the Dunes Challenge" that's nearby!

Great walk! Definitely a hidden gem. Make sure you take a bottle of water if you are doing the full trail to the beach and back. It’s almost 4 miles.

The Paul H. Douglas Center is the educational center for Indiana Dunes National Park. The building features exhibits and live animals visitors can interact with. The location is also popular with school programs. The center also is the starting point for several hiking trails featuring the rare oak savannah habitat.
