The last time I visited Maple Tree Inn was when it was located in Blue Island. Dropped in today and was amazed at everything. The ambience of the place was amazing, the staff were phenomenal, the food was superb. This is definitely a place I'll come back to support. It's a busy place so make the reservation. Parking isn't an issue from what I've seen, and it's located in a nice quiet area. I highly recommend it. Next time I'll have to try something from the dessert menu. Some menu items may seem a bit pricey, but it's worth it.

The food is as good as it looks! Let me just say the owner Erin who is a true stand up and very generous was kind enough to speak to me and my girlfriend about great places to go and eat in Chicago. Very kind and welcoming and his restaurant is truly a wonderful place to dine in and get a taste of New Orleans. Also our waiter Jeanna was so phenomenal at explaining the dishes and helped us greatly when we decided to choose. We go the fried chicken meal which was just so rich with flavors and well prepared definitely get that! Also the Jambalaya is a true taste that you’ll get of New Orleans once you get so many different delicious varieties in one bowl! The crab fitters was very good and had a blend of bread and pecan which was so good wasn’t expecting that! For dessert we got the chocolate pecan pie with fruits on top and it was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Hurricanes are also a great drink to get. Truly a great place to come and grab a dish to get a taste of New Orleans! You won’t be disappointed promise you that!

New Orleans meets Soul Food meets good ole hearty eating 😊 Amazing dining experience! From the professional staff, to great customer service from our waiter (Adam), to the ambiance of candlelight dining w/ appealing music( all instrumental), to the soft lighting, to the VIP vibe (make reservations) and exquisite delicacies! Everything was A++. We started off w/ some appetizers of fried green tomatoes, pecan crusted crab cakes, and fried clams (not pictured) & added gumbo just to taste. Very intricate flavors yet still homey. 😊. Entrees consisted of Red Snapper etoufee w/ collard green topping. Added a side of garlic mash. Also fried southern catfish w/ a side of Mac n cheese and cast iron cooked corn bread! The flavors and seasoning reminded me of Sunday dinners after church!! The plates came with so much food!! Finished it off w/ a bread pudding banana pudding dessert that was to die for! ❤️ Can’t wait to return. This is a 5 STAR ⭐️ 🌟✨⭐️💫 restaurant. A little pricey but definitely worth it if you want a fine dining experience

This place is so good. I've been living in my neighborhood for 3yrs and visit restaurant's right near it but never did stop in until recently. Beautiful inside, option for patio dining, delicious food, and great service, even free valet service. We had fried green tomatoes which personally I like my own better but it wasn't bad at all, then a red snapper dish over ride and some type of crawfish soup/sauce and greens... Very delicious. The fried chicken and Mac was very good as well, my vegetarian daughter liked her meal as well, they have a vegan menu. Also my drink..... Wish it wasn't even alcohol it was so good I'd drink it all day lol. It's called "mind control" very good. I'll definitely be going back.

Maple Tree Inn was recommended to me by my brother. Since we have friends that live near, why not make it a date. We arrived to complimentary valet service, which was nice & unexpected. We were seated immediately. I love that since most restaurants make you wait until the entire party arrived before you’re seated. Once we were all seated, our server was prompt & attentive to our needs while we dined. He was also versed enough with the menu that he was able to make suggestions to the menu. My food (redfish etoufee) was good but a touch bland. I was expecting spicy food. Not so much, but it was good. The burndt ends were good. The BBQ shrimp was tasty. I enjoyed the seafood gumbo, but was surprised by the small portion. I tires their Oysters Rockefeller. It wasn’t bad. The cornbread is a must. The drinks were great. The strawberry jalapeño Margarita it’s recommended. All in all, I would like to return to try other things on the menu. I did appreciate the smaller menu. It’s not like Pappadeux overwhelming menu.

Celebrating my birthday here was the right choice. We had cornbread for starters. It was hot, and delicious. I had the burnt ends with fried cabbage, and grits. My husband had the humongous double port chop with bread putting, and a delicious slaw that included sweet potatoes. Everything was delicious. I received beignets for being the birthday girl. They are on the dessert menu including a sweet potato cheesecake and banana pudding which sounded delicious, but I could not eat anything else. I enjoyed my birthday dinner. Please make reservations.

The lighting and music is so good here. It was previously a breakfast restaurant but I love the current place. The hours are limited 5pm-9pm, so you HAVE to make reservations!!! You can call or go on the website they provide to make reservations. They have a bar and the bartender is awesome. She makes the best drinks. Not just someone off the streets she is well educated in what she does. The food is ok, ALL Cajun style. They have a shrimp and grits that pretty good.My favorite dish was the bananas foster bread pudding. This dish was THE BEST dessert I've ever had in my life. They have complementary valet. You can dress up or down. Its a nice place for a romantic date.

Good food and great service. Plan ahead, make reservations. We didn't have reservations and were seated at the bar. You can only stay 90min at the bar. This was enough time. Much classier than the last location. Food quality is still good. No complaints whatsoever.

Great Food, Ambience, Location. Much better than previous sites of this particular restaurant. Piped in Jazz music, fire Place 🔥 Plenty of parking. Right along Dixie Hwy. Reservation is a must. They do want a credit card or open table to reserve. Surprisingly no sourdough bread served with dinner. Excellent deserts. Pork Chop is for hardy appetites. Great liquor list.

My husband and I visited the Maple Tree inn one Sunday a few months ago! We absolutely loved everything we had! The fried green tomatoes were our favorite! I had the fried chicken and he had the Shrimp Etoufe! I finished my meal with a Key lime pie and espresso martini. Definitely a gem in the South Suburban area! I can’t wait to go back again.

Ok. First time here and I fell in love as soon as I walked in. The ambiance is a 10/10, everything from the lighting to the fireplace. Our waiter (Joseph) was excellent, giving top notch service from start to finish....he was spot on. The food was excellent, I'll post pics on this review. I'll definitely be back.

Great food, my group made reservations and it still took them about 30 minutes to seat us after that and the table was available the entire time. Not sure what the wait was for. I had the jambalaya and we shared cornbread. But let me tell you; you have to try the fried green tomatoes!!! Chefs kiss!! I will be back!!

It was my brothers birthday & we came here! Sorry to say big mistake! The crawfish something was bland! The crab cake was terrible!! My server was not very personable!!! He never asked if I needed more to drink, I sat so long I pulled out an apple juice I forgot I had in my purse. He didn’t ask how my food was until I was almost done! I didn’t come for jus the food I came for an experience & got a bad one! I loved the restaurants feel, dim lighting, gorgeous set up but that’s all I enjoyed! & valet? What a mess!!

Maple Tree Inn is a gem located in the south suburbs of Chicago! We’ve been there several times and never have been disappointed. The burnt ends was good as well as the fried chicken and macaroni. The skillet cornbread is a must have! Great drink options as well.

My daughter and I were so excited and we left so disappointed. The service could have been better. I mean they had so many people on staff and literally standing side by side on the wall but, did they come and remove any of the dirty plates off of the super small table? No…not really. Could we get water refills? No…not really. The shrimp and grits looked so good and then when I dug in the sauce was so strong and grits were so soupy that they dripped through the fork and onto my shirt. 😝 Mac & Cheese was basic. Crab cake basic. The powder sugar had small beignets under them 👀 on a appetizer saucer. And the food was expensive. The waiter…I don’t know…Anyway. I made reservations and was so pumped but I could have gone to Chili’s 3x. The gumbo however, was decent.

Slow cooked, midly spicy and about 4 1/2 inch thick pork chop. Quite flavorful. Deep fried oysters, first experience. Right amount of kick. Atmosphere was very reminiscent of a NAWLINS Big Easy spot. Service is friendly and helpful. Definitely a returning date night spot.

I recently had an unforgettable dining experience at this restaurant. The cajun fried green tomatoes with ceviche were a burst of flavors, perfectly balanced and tangy. The fried chicken with macaroni and cheese was comfort food at its finest, with crispy skin and a creamy, cheesy side. The fried fish was impeccably cooked, flaky and seasoned to perfection. And let's not forget the cornbread, moist and golden. Each dish was a delicious masterpiece, leaving me craving more. This place is a must-visit for all food lovers!

Really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, I didn't and neither did my sister. So disappointed I had to leave a review, which I never do. Not sure if we caught them on a bad night, but I know everyone that was sitting near us were also displeased with their food. My table had shrimp and grits and it was so much BBQ sauce and oil we couldn't eat it. Didn't want to make a fuss, so packed it up and gave it away to a family member. Tried to give dessert a shot and there were inedible portions in both (part of the bread in the bread pudding and the biscuits in the peach shortcake). The server never once asked how we were doing or how we enjoyed our meal, so I'm assuming he already knew. It wasn't an enjoyable or acceptable experience. Wouldn't recommend unless we can be convinced it was an off-night, and maybe not even then.

I will start with the good first. This restaurant has great ambiance and the service is stellar and I mean STELLAR. If the food matched the service people would be standing outside the door. I mean I don’t know anywhere you can get this kind of service. I have been to this restaurant 3 weeks in a row and each time the food got worse. The first time I ordered catfish, macaroni, and gumbo. Second time I order Chicken thighs, macaroni, cornbread, catfish, and bread pudding. Third time I order shrimp and grits, spare ribs and mash potatoes, cornbread, burnt ends, cabbage. Each time I orders the gumbo, it’s just ok I don’t think it should be called gumbo at all. I truly don’t feel like the food is really Cajun flavored but that’s my take. The bread pudding is stellar as well as the catfish. Also the shrimp dish is relishes. Every thing else was really not good. The brunt ends were dry hard, had no flavor, and taste of they had been previously cooked. The grits are just ok they are lacking a rouge and a little bit of flavor, maybe they should be topped with cheese and scallions. The spareribs were tough as nails. The macaroni is ok. Whatever you do please do not order a side of catfish the price is ridiculous for they bring out. The chicken thighs probably would have been good if I didn’t have a piece of gristle and that was it for me. The drinks look pretty haven’t tried one.

We took a family member here for her birthday, everything was good. I especially enjoyed the catfish dinner and the skillet cornbread & beignets . Our server got lost for a while, we had to flag him down a few times. Other than that it was pretty good.

We have been waiting to go this establishment for 8 months! And they did not let us down! We wore mask entering and when speaking to staff, no problem with the Pandemic and all; but it sure felt great to get out and enjoy family and fantastic food. Then we enjoyed a very homey New Orleans atmosphere with fantastic food and service. Went with the Family and started with the Pierogie and Crabcake Appetizer. Both Amazing. Entrees were the Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffee, Fried Chicken and the Trout. My Compliments to the chef. All meals served at the same time and so elegantly displayed, and so delicious we all started tasting each others meals and still left completely satisfied. Thank you All for making Maple Tree Inn such an Amazing evening for myself and my family, can't wait to come back!

Oh my goodness, is this place amazing! The way they put together the meals are deliciousness. I would have never thought a pork chop with bread pudding and sweet potato like coleslaw will be amazing together. That was what my husband had that pork chop was so freaking huge. It was enough for the both of us and some extra to take home. I had to burn ends with grits and sauteed cabbage or fried cabbage. It was deliciousness on a plate. We also had the cornbread appetizer you talking about some good cornbread you got to have it. You got to go. This place will be one of my regular spots for anniversaries and date nights. This place is nice and cozy for you and your partner. There are no groups larger than six. You've got to try this place. The prices are great also.

Everything we ordered was good, as was the service. The new building looked great. However I must admit that I was a little disappointed in the food. This is the fourth incarnation of this restaurant I've been to going back to the 1980's. The food used to be amazing. The food we had was good, but definitely not amazing. Drinks were good, staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back.

A gold star for pandemic safety measures. No corn muffin, bread nor crackers to accompany the gumbo. Classic gumbo was delicious! Crab cake had a weird taste. Brussel sprouts looked good but tasted blah. Alcoholic drinks looked pretty, but were blah. Atmosphere and service were great. Made a phone reservation a week ahead for a Sunday dine in experience. Pricey, but I would go back.

Nice southern comfort Aura in the building, wide variety of alcoholic beverages, I ordered the fried chicken which wasn't bad had it been a bone-in thigh rather than boneless as it would have been 100% juicer and more Cajun too a bit dry I like the breading maybe a little more salt and spices, Mac and cheese was good pinch of salt would have made it better, butter fries on the side were good, noticed on the menu Gumbo has things my family from the bayou never added like clams and mussels and calamari...bit much for traditional, collard greens were bitter, undercooked and under seasoned. Overall...Not too shabby-

I celebrated my birthday yesterday and Veteran's Day with my friend. We loved our food, our waiter, & the ambiance. We had jambalaya, shrimp n' grits, & the cast iron corn bread. The sweet and savory butters were delicious. Our drinks were very good as well. The parking lot is small, so valet is free. Be sure to tip the guy! He literally ran back and forth getting cars. I can't rate the cost since it was a birthday treat.

Was in the mood for a dessert ended up here and wasn't disappointed. I kicked back a few old-fashioned which were smooth nothing crazy solid. For dessert got a carrots cake which was 🔥. A unique presentation and the glazed sauce that was in the center was incredible. Think the sauce has some hint of bourbon but it definitely has alcohol flavored. Was impressed no lie. Will be back to get the full dining experience.

Love the new location. The restaurant is so adorable. It reminds me of a miniature paupdexuee. The food was delicious. Seems like they made some changes to the menu. I like the new one better. Great place for a date.

The ambiance was intimate, our waiter was nice & our food was good (minus the smothered cabbage 😳). Maple also offers a Vegan & Gluten-free menu, along with a non-alcoholic spirits menu. My overall experience was great & we're already making plans to return with more couples!

Me and my wife had a date night out. We’re from Minnesota. We have been to New Orleans and were very excited to try this place out. The atmosphere is great they had great jazz music playing. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helped us pick all of our dishes. Do not pass on the famous shrimp. The fried oysters. The flavors are all great so unique. Here are two fish dishes that we had as our entrées. Sweet potato cheesecake was the best. Wish we lived here so we could come back again!

I moved away to another state but I've always loved this restaurant. However I was a little disappointed in the crab cake it was smashed in the small plate and somewhat tasteless. The draft wine was refreshing and the catfish was off the hook 😂. Over all an awesome server it was a good night.

Stopped in for an early birthday dinner because this spot has been on our radar for a long time and we love NOLA. Our waiter was attentive and not only answered questions but provided great recommendations. The food was phenomenal and the music took us back to those brass bands marching through the streets.

  • 4/5 Jerome R. 1 year ago on Google
Great service, ambiance and flavors on the menu! Selections for everyone it seems, from dishes to custom cocktails. Burnt ends were great especially the cabbage, watch out because the pork chop is 4x the thickness you'll ever see, BBQ shrimp was a great appetizer, and I could eat that cornbread day and night (they gave us refrigerated butter options though, so spreading was actually impossible).

Our first time visiting and we will absolutely be returning. The ambiance was beautiful, staff were friendly and attentive and our meals were delicious. Update: just visited for a 2nd time and it was even better than our first visit! This place never disappoints. Wanted to add pics of the amazing food. Everything was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. Portions are shareable and so beautifully presented. I truly love coming here. The pork chop was the size of my head!

My friend and I were looking for someplace new to try when she mentioned this place. We've come here years ago when it was something else🤷. Our waiter I believe his name was Matt was very nice and attentive. It's a pretty chill atmosphere. The food was good as well. I had the bbq shrimp and grits it was messy I literally needed a bib. I can't compare it to anything this was my first time having it. My friend had the catfish and I tasted it..it was some of the best I've had in a long time. I wasn't crazy about the cornbread..guess I was expecting something more. I also have to add that it wasn't as expensive and I can definitely appreciate that.😊 Also since we were celebrating my friends birthday they brought us beignets. You also need a credit card to make a reservation😒

The food is good but I have been less than impressed with their inability to consistently offer takeout...especially during a pandemic. I was so hopeful when they moved into Homewood but I am seriously questioning whether they are truly here to serve the community when they do not offer takeout for the vulnerable within the community. Not a fan and will not be returning until they are consistent in their service offerings.

I was so enthusiastic to go to Maple Tree Inn since my last visit in 2017 at former location on Old Western in Blue Island. The food I ordered then was exceptional. I took a friend to the Dixie Highway location and was pleased with the environment and hospitality. The masterful hospitality transferred from the former location. I ordered the Jambalaya, my guest ordered a Red Snapper dish. She returned it because it was "rubbery." She then ordered the Jambalaya. I want to suggest to her not to order it. Maybe her dish would be better than mine. My roux was probably burned. Whatever it was, I didn't enjoy the meal. I should have returned it, but I assumed it was my taste buds. I took some home to eat the next day. Let me state that the shrimp were perfect. I will admit I was highly disappointed with my meal. The excellent hospitality and environment were the highlights of this experience. I'm not sure if I will return. I still suggest going and forming your own opinion.

My experience tonight at Maple Tree was spectacular. We sat on the patio, which I highly recommend, and enjoyed some very awesome drinks. I will follow Maple Tree Inn to whatever location they're at. Authentic tasting Cajun cuisine and wonderful cocktails. The new location has plenty of parking. Use caution when ordering if you don't like to eat pork some of the food has lard in it. I found out the hard way.

We had a party of four. They performed a temperature check as we walked in. Nice atmosphere. The waiter was excellent. The food came in a timely fashion and was very tasty. The cinnamon roll was amazing and we all said we can't wait to go back. Our meal consisted of the fried green tomatoes and the butter boiled fries as an appetizer. My wife enjoyed her brussel sprouts, the other two people in our party shared the alligator skewers and serving of fried green tomatoes. Our entrees consisted of the fried chicken, the BBQ shrimp jalapeno grits and the southern fried catfish. No complaints, plates we clean when were done and smiles across the table.

Tried Maple Tree Inn for the first time this evening and my only regret is that I didn’t try it sooner! Everything was great from picking up my order to enjoying it once I was home. I was very impressed by the COVID precautions taken to ensure the safety of patrons and staff. Great service and the food was absolutely incredible. Of course it being a locally owned business is great as well. We will definitely be returning!

Temperature check before entering the restaurant and hand sanitizer on each table. Excellent Customer Service it was my birthday and the waiter made me feel very special. Beautiful restaurant from the waiting area to the outdoor patio. Great place for date night or special occasion. Downtown feel but it in the suburbs. If you looking for a Southern and New Orleans type food this is the restaurant for you. Love the whole experience.

I went to the Bistro in Blue Island before the pandemic, great atmosphere but small. So when I tell you this was an absolute treat!!!! Inside dining is nice, open and cozy. Outside was great. Food and drinks are always delicious and tasty.

What a lovely restaurant. Gorgeous atmosphere and kind and welcoming staff. For dinner I actually had the vegan jambalaya. It was hotter than i am used to but still so good. For dessert I had the beignets which were sweet and doughy and melted in your mouth. Overage really good and I would love to go again and try something new.

New location in Homewood, bigger, clean, and updated. Manager sincerely cares if food is to your liking. They temporarily don't have their famous peach cobbler on the menu. Portion size is still good!

Really Great food and service! Will definitely be going back soon. Very unique and delicious menu! Ur not seeing the food coming and going(meaning, I've never seen these items elsewhere)....unfortunately I started eating b4 taking pictures! I love the way they social distance and followed guidelines for people and cleanliness. Our waitress was kind and knowledgeable! My ginger beer was good as well! The only complaint I could find and that is a matter of opinion, is that the pecan pie had too many pecans. I like more filling. I KNOOOOOW, thats reaching! The Mac n cheese was delicious, I sampled my friends red snapper and im not a fish person, but it was good(she enjoyed it as well), the burnt ends with mashed potatoes were good as well. The burnt ends weren't tough to chew through. We also had the fries....those topped with a side of barbecue sauce....delish!! Oh....dont let me forget about the cole slaw...it was just enough of everything, just like I like it! To top if off, the ambiance was clean and aesthetically pleasing! I will be going back!!
