I've had my eye on this location for a while now and they've finally opened! We found out the hard way that the Chef's Specials require one day's notice, so I was not able to get the lamb in the clay pot as I had hoped. However, the Tales Salad and Adana Kebab that we ordered instead were both very good. I also have to compliment the warm bread we received, which was excellent. They bake it on-site. Service and ambiance were both very good. Prices are higher than I would typically pay elsewhere for what we ordered. In fact, they even charge you for the tap water - very European-style. I guess think of it as a bread fee. Attached to the restaurant is their bakery, where you can get sweets and a coffee to go, or else eat it in the cafe. I think I will have to return to do that, since the environment there seems very cozy.

Amazing place. You just need to visit it and enjoy everything they have to offer. And they do offer you from fresh pastries to amazing deserts and food. With their hospitality you will be over the moon and I guarantee that. Food is fresh, atmosphere is casual. Perfect for just a catch up with friends meal or some quiet on your own lunch. Don’t skip the bakery part of the restaurant. Abdu is the best host and you will be lucky to have him. We will keep coming to this place.

Wife & I discovered this gem of a restaurant via Yelp. The smells permeating from this parking lot were heavenly. If we were staying longer we would have visited other restaurants nearby as well. I tried the beet salad (too much for 1 but just right if you are sharing) and lamb chops. Both were delicious 😋. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Restaurant has an attached bakery! Don't leave without visiting there.

After trying Turkish food outside the state, I sought out a local restaurant that would approximate my past good experience with this cuisine. It was fortuitous then to receive a referral to A Thousand Tales. The food was delicious, fresh, with excellent ingredients. The menu has many excellent traditional dishes, and I tried the mixed meat platter, which was a grand meal that could feed 2-3 people. The meats were tender and richly flavorful, though the meal was a bit dry and the only sauce I could procure was Tabasco sauce. That's a missed opportunity to showcase Turkish sauces. There is an attached bakery that serves fantastic desserts, such as cold baklava, pistachio mousse cake, and their version of tres leches cake. Everything here is scrumptious and I have been recommending it to friends and family.

All I can say is… WOW, WOW, WOW. This restaurant has got great food, atmosphere, and the service is amazing. I came in with a group of 3, on a busy Friday night. We didn’t have a reservation but we were still welcomed & greeted promptly. Our server Mariam has been so attentive and friendly. I’m just a visitor here in Illinois, but now I have a reason to come back! Whenever I crave good Turkish food and superb hospitality, this place will be my go to. Thank you for a great dining experience! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mediterranean food and cafe. I enjoyed the cafe space for honeyed dessert and coffee. Both were delicious. The help staff was very friendly and helpful. The decor is cafe casual with lots of exposed wood, appropriately soft lighting, and casual accents. Not much music. The crowd varied from couples, to small groups of friends, to a family of ten who seemed to be enjoying a night out.

Best Turkish restaurant in USA. 👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 The employees who have a great atmosphere inside are friendly. the restaurant owners are hospitable. The desserts are beautiful with tremendous quality. You will not find such a taste even in Turkey. There is an open buffet breakfast on the weekend. Definitely don't miss it. Once you arrive, you will notice the quality!!!

Wonderful experience with great service and a variety of delicious food. The quality of meat was exceptional along with presentation of dishes! Their bakery and coffee restaurant was not only good to look at but the desserts treats were scrumptious, especially Baklava!

A decent quality and authentic Turkish restaurant and Bakery. Very broad selection of Kabobs. We ate there as a family and we all liked our food. The bakery-cafe is a separate section but connected from the inside. It has a broad selection of Turkish style pastries. Strongly recommend the place. It is conveniently located close to O’Hare, but not so appealing neighborhood otherwise (the only down side I could think of).

It’s the place you can find perfect Mediterranean Cuisine. I had dinner with my family. My daughter loved the kid's menu and she was expressing how the food is delicious during eating it 😀. Alinazik and lamb chops are also our favorite. Plus, you MUST try the bakery section of it. Don’t hesitate and visit this place with your loved ones. Thanks for your service and kindness.

Amazing food with beautiful ambiance and good service. The baklava and tea reminded me of Istanbul. A nice Turkish restaurant finally in Chicago Area . I would request the restaurant owners to maintain the same service, quality and pricing for longevity of a successful restaurant.

Delicious Turkish food along with a fabulous fine dining ambiance. The service was phenomenal with staff that was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was very fresh and delicious! We ordered the platter and it had a little bit of everything. The lamb chops, and kabobs were juicy and soft and the flavour was unmatched. We also tried tres leches cake and another desert which were both spectacular! Will definitely come back to try out all the delicious bakery items and have the platter again, unfortunately they do not have the platter available during Ramadan.

Very good grilled meats, amazing desserts. We had the big mixed platter. Recommended for 5 or more people. Very kind servers, just a tad slow in the much rush busiest times. Be patient, you will be glad.

This place is SPECIAL. Walking in for the first time, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm, elegant ambiance. My husband and I stopped by here in search of gourmet baklava for our anniversary dinner. We brought our 5 year old, who wanted to try everything in the store (me too!). There were pastries, flaky Instagram-worthy croissants, and bunch of different cakes, candies and bite-sized treats. The staff was friendly and very helpful while answering our questions. My husband and I vowed that we'd be back shortly to sit in their cozy-looking cafe so we could try their gourmet coffee drinks along with a pastries and more treats. We also notice they have a full restaurant, which I definitely want to try after reading over the menu. We tried the classic baklava, a croissant, milky baklava, and a bunch of small dessert pieces. The quality of the desserts and pastries are some be the best I've ever tasted. If you love dark chocolate, hazelnut and pistachio, definitely try the Mosaic. It's one oh the most delicious things I've ever had! The classic baklava was perfection and the croissant was flaky and buttery, delicious! We're planning to go back VERY soon to try more items. I also can't wait to sit down for dinner, as their menu looks absolutely amazing.

Food here was unbelievably good. I've never had Turkish food before and I was wowed with the service and flavor of the food. First they brought bread to the table, accompanied with seasoned oil which was a great start to our meal. We also ordered the Turkish hot tea and it was a fun experience to drink tea with dinner. It was just a black tea with sugar served in neat, small, clear glasses. The meat and rice that came with our meals was seasoned wonderfully. The menu was unique and we wished we could have tried everything on it, all the meals sounded delightful. This was the 1st time, in a long time, that my husband and I have cleaned our plates and left satisfied. The bakery was beautiful as well and we ordered some sweets to take home. We can't wait to come back to both the restaurant and the bakery. I'm happy to have found this place, I will want to make a stop everytime I am in the area.

Wow. First time coming here and I am blown away by the food. BEST bread I’ve had since Europe. You can tell the high quality ingredients and cooking they have here. Absolutely magnificent— don’t sleep on this place (like I have been!) Excellent and friendly service as well with a lovey atmosphere in the restaurant and next door cafe. Come here immediately and come hungry!

This place is amazing. The food is delicious and authentic! The iskender and Ali nazik dishes were particularly great. Their fresh bread is to die for. They also have an attached bakery/cafe with beautiful and tasty desserts. The service was the best I’ve ever had! Our server, Enes was happy to answer all our questions and went above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional experience. Will definitely be bringing more guests and trying the rest of the menu next time. Highly recommend this restaurant.

A shout out to the amazing food, staff, and atmosphere! We are lucky to have an establishment like yours in town with very delicious food and well priced. The desserts were amazing, there is so much to choose from that I never know where to begin! As well, I appreciate the amazing, kind and caring staff! Special thanks to our server Maria from Turkmenistan! She assured my friend’s birthday felt special, and we are very thankful for that.

How can it be that I did not know this amazing coffee shop was right in my backyard? It will be my new regular hang out spot! Best cappuccino…so foamy! Loved trying the Turkish coffee. All coffee served with a delicious shortbread cookie. And so many other gorgeous bakery treats that I will gradually work my way through on future visits. The ambiance is phenomenal…cozy nooks for relaxing and tables when you need to work!

"The service is excellent, and the ambiance is really pleasant, but I have to admit, the prices are a bit on the high side. My personal favorite is the bakery section, especially the cheese pastries and olive rolls; I highly recommend trying them. Despite the pricing, the quality of the food and the overall experience make it worth a visit. The staff is attentive, and the bakery items are delicious. If you're willing to indulge a little, those cheese pastries and olive rolls are an absolute must-try. Overall, a great place for a treat, and I'll definitely be returning for those tasty bakery delights."

It was a great experience it was our very first time here and we drove from far to try it and they were so considerate and Yazgul (I believe that’s her name) was an absolute sweetheart she was so kind and since it was my brothers birthday she gave us a cake slice we were so thankful and happy for her kind gesture. The food was amazing. Her recommendations were perfect and we enjoyed so much. Bread was amazing and the food had a great taste.

Visited for the open buffet on the Fourth of July. Good service and very nice food. They had many choices of appetizers too. The chefs must be quite versed in Turkish cuisine.

So honestly, not the best experience:) First, when we came in we were really impressed with the interior, the stand with the cakes look very nice! Everything is clean, new looking, as a good coffee place. One of the girls was veeeery nice and friendly:) So we made an order and were excited to enjoy the food. And at this part of the story the expectations didn’t meet the reality😄 Honestly, the cakes are not impressive at all:) And it cost about $100 (tip included) And then it was the first time ever when we were asked to leave TWICE because the place is closing, like 2 minutes after closing time😄😄😄 Nice thing: they gave us a bag of homemade crackers because the check was over $50 Nice place, food and service areas need some improvement.

I had both breakfast and dinner couple of times. One of the best places to experience turkish bakery (simit & borek). All things are fresh and tasty. For lunch or dinner, lahmacun, iskender kebab, sis kebab are great options to try. Great place to try turkish cuisine with many variety.
