TL;DR:
It’s
a
shopping
center
masquerading
as
a
mall.
No
food
court,
no
movie
theater,
no
soul.
From
what
I’ve
read,
there
were
plans
a
couple
of
decades
ago
to
upgrade
this
mall
to
compete
with
its
sister
mall
(at
the
time
Roosevelt
Field),
but
the
mall
today
doesn’t
resemble
what
could’ve
been.
WW
is
clean
and
modern,
but
it’s
not
interesting.
There’s
no
real
life
to
it.
Whenever
I
visit
I
follow
the
same
routine:
I
park
near
one
end
and
walk
to
the
other
end.
Then
I
turn
around
and
walk
back.
Sure,
I
check
out
a
few
stores
along
the
way,
but
the
entire
experience
feels
empty.
Compare
this
to
the
multi-level,
bustling
destination
that
is
Roosevelt
Field
Mall.
Even
Smith
Haven
Mall
is
showing
more
signs
of
a
pulse
than
Walt
Whitman,
thanks
to
the
addition
of
trendier
stores
and
a
decent,
attractive
food
court.
If
WW
can
turn
the
space
formerly
occupied
by
Lord
&
Taylor
into
something
interesting
(outdoor
expansion
perhaps),
maybe
it’ll
finally
earn
its
mall
stripes.
