A budget-friendly hotel in Ernakulam, Kerala, India. It is popular among travelers looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay at an affordable price. The hotel is also known for its pure vegetarian restaurant, which serves a variety of South Indian dishes. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is excellent, and the food is delicious. The hotel is also a good option for families, as it offers spacious rooms and a variety of amenities.  Ample car parking space..

Place was nearly crowded. They offer wide range of vegetarian dishes. Staff behavior was courteous. Quantity of curry in set chappathy with curry was too less for the price they offer. Ambience was pleasing with light music in the background. Best spot for a dine in with family and friends.

I don't know why people visit this place. Maybe the location or perhaps like us maybe visiting this after a long time expecting it to be good as before. The quantity they provide is very less. The price they charge is high (for the quantity). We would have not minded the price of it were for the ambience, but the ambience was poor too. Bathroom was unclean. The restaurant didn't have anything special to be marked good for ambience. The waiters were untrained, no attitude to help. They looked like they were tired and un enthusiastic to help. They were mostly just standing there chatting with the cashier! The security guy at the parking was cordial and looked enthusiastic and ready to help.

Food quality and service has degraded. Disappointing experience for a retuning long term customer. We ordered Masala dosa and was served stale white chutney, even after informing the staff the chutney was not replaced. Dosa was undercooked and served cold. Coffee taste was also disappointing, inspite of informing the staff that I need a strong coffee with less milk and sugar. Hygiene and cleanliness levels also need to be checked. Houseflies on the table that too in an A/C restaurant. In the end during payment with card I was charged 20/- more than the total bill amount. On asking the staff returned the amount even without checking the message confirming the deduction, hope it was a genuine mistake if not... I request the management to look into the issues, otherwise BTH is losing its good old reputation and customers. Today the food and service is definitely not worth the premium amount charged.

I had the best sadhya(traditional lunch of Kerala) here. The service is also excellent. Don't miss it, when you are at Cochin.

I have ordered meals and it's not upto the mark. It was on 15th dec and rice was overcooked and samar felt it was made one day before. Not worth to pay 270 per meal when there is lot of option nearby serving much better food at lesser price. This meal worth below 100 and quality has been gone down as it used to be earlier.

Worst experience with BTH Bharat Hotel. They had an extremely unprofessional attitude towards guests. Their General manager Abhilash is an arrogant guy who doesn't have ears to what the guest says. As per him what he and his staff do is correct. The food was ok in their restaurant but the service was very poor. It took more than 15 minutes to get an available item. Cost wise it was very expensive. This is an old hotel which is still running with their past glory. This hotel should be avoided.

Its very old & traditional restaurant in Eranakulam. If you are a vegetarian i highly recommend this place. Meals are so good and taste like our homely food. One meal coast you around 230 Rs. Considering the quality and quantity of food served its worthy. They also have a good customer service.

One of the oldest hotels and restaurants in town , it has always been a good choice for vegetarians for quite some time! Personally I do not have any major complaints as such regarding the property and the food but I believe it's high time the management considers revamping the infrastructure and considers upping the food standards to meet present day standards of food for the price they are charging. I would in the current scenario their menu is over priced .

One of the older establishments in Kochi. Everything still felt the same as 40 years before. Probably the restaurant lost its relevance with some many other options coming up all over Kochi. Good option if you are around that area

I went to attend a marriage function here. They provided a decent hall for the engagement function even though it don't have A/C in it the Windows were wide open so the we could get the nice breeze time outside. Really enjoyed the sadya which was good. Staffs were l also well behaved .

Pathetic😣 this was one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Ernakulam once upon a time. I wanted to relish those memories and visited this place last week to have breakfast. Pathetic is not the word...from cleanliness to food taste to service to customer care, it has gone down beyond words. Coffee and tea tasted sweeter like palada pradhaman..there was a time when their masala dosa was the best....not anymore...thoroughly disappointed 👎

The worst place I've ever ate at. They made us wait TOO long for our food , half the restaurant ate before us and left . The food quality was terrible as well. The Manchurian tasted like hot trash. The food was very expensive as well. They made us drink some ayurvedic medicine water since WATER BOTTLES weren't allowed inside.

Quality of service is poor for the price ~2000 bucks for 6 folks and order of veg fried rice, gobi manchurian and channa bathura with lime soda is simply not worth it. Order took a lot of time to serve - maybe the focus was on buffet and not a-la-carte. Ambience is not good and place seems run down with paint peeling off in some places. They served lime soda almost as dessert whereas they should have brought it as appetizer and on top of it they did not bring it initially the way we ordered it and by the time the brought it back the soda lost its fizz. Channa bathura costs Rs 180 and I have tasted much better ones in Bangalore restaurants for the same price. Fried rice was average .They also missed noting down one item we ordered so we had to skip it as it was too late to order it again.

The premium vegetarian place. Been serving the authentic veg cuisines and south Indian breakfast for more than 2 decades with at most consistency. Tasty food. Bit on the pricey side but food will never disappoint you. Best for family breakfast. One of Kochi’s iconic veg place.

Staff were rude and unfriendly. We were asked to move from one seat to another stating they will not serve meals on banana leaf where we were seated. There were no seats available at the meals section, so we sat at the empty seat right next to it, but they refused to serve us meals and asked us to wait. We had no choice but to leave. Just one note for the management of this hotel- you are there to provide food to customers. If you have silly rules like this where meals will be served only on few seats and not on others, I can only say it is a ridiculous rule. The seats were not even far apart. So it just shows that either your management is incorrect or your staffs are rude and does not care about your business. Either way, this is Kochi and we have several other options for our lunch. We left for another better restaurant and had an amazing lunch with great customer service. So ultimately, you lost 4 customers forever and we will never recommend this hotel to anyone else.

Restaurant food ( vegetarian only) is very delicious. Hygienically prepared food, follows top quality standards.Location , ambience of the restaurant adds charm to their reputation and legacy. Legacy of BTH for the past several decades is rich and the name, BTH synonymous with Ernakulam Town. Hats off to the Management Team for sustaining the quality and hygienic standards!

We went to have lunch with the whole family and the food was good. The only thing we felt was the service was a bit delayed but it might be because of the rush during the lunch hours. For Vegetarians this is a good option when you are around DH ground area.

Gem of a place to have very nice and tasty vegetarian food. The veg thali was specially good. The tomato utthapam was very tasty and the chutneys fresh and full of flavour. The coffee was super nice. The next time I am there in Kochi I will make sure that I stay in their hotel only so that I can have the simple but very tasty food here. The staff were very courteous and helpful.

Stayed with family for 2 nights in AC room . It’s an old hotel and one of the lift seems to be in renovation since months . The rooms are basic and they don’t even refill water or coffee/tea sachets unless you ask for it . Room service charges are insane even though food tastes average . Service is not proactive . Ext numbers of the housekeeping and so on are a bit confusing and they reroute the calls and create a confusion . The guys at the reception at night behave as if we are staying in the hotel for free and no hospitality . We asked for hot water in bathroom and they told it will be available in morning , but we tried one of taps and we could get it . So they themselves are not aware of it .The bathrooms were clean but pipes were leaking and doors were old . Parking space is cramped and they give preference to the people visiting the restaurant than the people staying in the rooms. We had to park the car outside and then wait till later in the night to get a parking space . The bed upholstery is also old and didnot look fresh . .We asked for an hour of extra time for check out and they were saying they had a booking which seemed to be not true since all the rooms were not occupied Overall a forgettable stay and wouldn’t recommend for family with elders and kids

Good location and decent clean rooms. There are better options close by to stay and at a similar price range. Do recommend that you check those out. Breakfast is pretty standard, this place is veg only. Have heard good reviews and is very busy at lunch. The ground opposite has something or the other happening and causes quite a jam during weekends.

A mammoth of a hotel riding on old world charm... This used to be my favourite restaurant during my formative days in the early 90s.. fast-forward to today... There is a lot of scope for improvement. Service is at its basic and quality has fallen below par over the years... Good for nostalgic memories for fellows born in the early 80s!!

I stayed at this hotel for a day. Decent rooms with locality close to all major landmarks. Complimentary breakfast is decent. Average room service. Restaurant charges exorbitant rates for mediocre food. 1 dosa cost 110 Rs with average Sambar and chutney. Too much for a veggie If you are looking at just stay and dining outside, then would recommend.

I've been to the restaurant and I've been there multiple times over many years. It's a decent hotel and it has a standard which you can bank upon. But, I wonder why they can't do better? The prices are premium, but it could be modernized much more. The management needs to embrace more change and modernize the hotel. Else, the customer base would just erode as time passes.

As a mom of 11 month old, I was pleased with the hotel environment. It was a unplanned trip but to our suprise there were rooms available. We opted for two double rooms connected inside as we are accompanied by elders. Rooms are maintained neat and clean. Complementary breakfast is supercool buffet with traditional food to English breakfast. Open ground car parking inside the premises. Marine drive is at walkable distance. A huge Government Cochin park is nearby in a great sea view. Very old Siva temple is also nearby. Must try their own restaurant made sweet and salt lemonade.

I stayed in the Executive Suite for two nights. Room is dated and satisfies the basic requirements. Water was seeping in the toilet and the doors were not closing properly. Service is appalling and the reception/housekeeping staff keep you on hold and talk to someone else every time. Gone are the days when the tiffin used to be good. The food is very average and the breakfast buffet is something laughable. Lunch however, is good. I would not stay here next time as we have better options at the same price. Not satisfied with the stay.

Went to this hotel with my spouse to attend an engagement function in the banquet hall. This multistoreyed 50 year old hotel is located in the west-end of the DH Road close to the backwaters. Has sufficient parking space inside the compound. Equipped with an AC restaurant on the ground floor that serves veg food only. The Reception area holds an old world charm albeit stuffy without AC or fans. Rooms are available in Standard non-AC & AC, Deluxe AC categories at rates ranging from Rs.2200 - Rs.3500. GST extra. Neat & Clean environment with courteous staff. The overall ambiance is great.

It was a torture. Its already hard to find good pure veg restaurant in kerala and this restaurant bth subhiksha is forcing vegetarians to go non-veg restaurants for enjoying dinner with your family. About the food where should I start, does its chef know what is a sambar 120 masala dosa(should be a north indian chef), had no flavor only red chilli powder in it. There was no difference between paneer lababdar, shahi paneer, jalfrezi and malai ( Lababdar is supposed to be masala gravy with cream paste in it) 220. The paneer served in curry burned. veg jaipuri was a joke, felt like they added the raita vegs to some cream masala gravy 220. the rice quality of 220 pulav was horrible fat thick oily rice. Me and dad always come for lunch here which is nice. This is first time we all came for dinner here. I dont understand after having such a nice fine dining restaurant at a great location with nicely designed menu with expensive rates( no problem I'll pay for good experience) food is ridiculous disappointing. I felt like screaming at the restaurant since its a Christmas eve I controled. They should immediately fire its executive chef and appoint a chef, who has some sense of good cooking. I'll pay 350 for each items please serve good food. It seems like Bhindavan restaurant is the only option to go for dinner with family in kochi.

The hotel is very good and beautiful. The food tastes good and is served hot, but a little costly. I am not able to tell much about the staff as when, I phoned to the reception asking for help on connecting to the wifi, they said the wifi isn't there, even though it was being shown in my available wifi list. I felt it a little odd. Even though it was just a night stay, they should have provided the wifi, but they denied.

Me and my wife recently stayed here. All I would say is this. Better than staying at fort Kochi stay here and visit fort Kochi and other multiple places around Ernakulum from here as location is its best point (whether boat jetty or Ernakulum shiva temple or railway station or garden and marine drive to stroll around or to go to Bolgatty palace) Staff is very good and you will get a great Appam here from one of the old uncle here who makes really great Appams and other food is also very good (it’s a pure veg restaurant) Thank you BTH looking forward for our next stay again

Hotel and rooms are good. Food is also good but it's highly overpriced. Plus you don't get fruit juices or fruit based milkshakes in the hotel. It's ok if one prefers overpriced vegetarian food. Else is better to look at other options. It looks as though that hotel management is covering up for the economical rates for the rooms with the high cost for food

Have been visiting this Hotel for ages. Went in for breakfast yesterday. The restaurant has a good ambience. We sat at the table for a long time before someone came to take the orders. Then another inordinate delay before a simple order of a Masala Dosa and plain Uthappam arrived, although only two tables were occupied with a total of five guests. After breakfast, again a delay in getting the bill and getting our change back. The staff are so indifferent and seemed bored on the job. The food is tasty and wholesome, but the service is very poor, considering that the bill is priced high end. Don’t feel homely at all. The toilets were smelly and the hand wash area was dirty.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant of BTH Hotel, and I must say it was a truly delightful experience. I opted for their vegetable sadhya, and I was blown away by the incredible flavors and authentic taste. The variety of dishes served was extensive, with each one carefully prepared and bursting with freshness. From the fragrant rice to the delectable assortment of curries, chutneys, and crispy papadums, every element of the sadhya was a culinary masterpiece. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring a comfortable dining atmosphere. The restaurant's ambiance was charming, providing a perfect setting to savor the sumptuous meal. I highly recommend BTH Hotel's restaurant for anyone seeking an exquisite culinary journey filled with traditional flavors and impeccable service.

Such a poorly laid out restaurant with no ambience of a eating joint. That is tolerable if the food is good and priced reasonable. But in BTH Subhiksha you pay through your nose for a service worth half. I wouldn't go there again for sure. A masala dosa which is ₹70/ in a similar standard restaurant in Kerala costs ₹130/ here, a tea costs ₹50/!!!! Never seen such rates in a normal South Indian restaurant in any of the southern states of Kerala, TN or Karnataka

The hotel allows for accomodations to be booked through various booking websites for international travellers, but does not accept international credit cards. There are several such hassles that international tourists have to overcome to stay here. They don't state their booking policies up front and spring surprises at check-in. Also, for the price that they charge, the size of the hotel rooms and bathrooms are rather small. I have traveled as a tourist internationally, including within India quite extensively, and this was definitely one of my worst experiences. I would recommend international travellers against staying here. Only reason why I gave a second star for the good quality of food served at the hotel's restaurants.

EXCELLENT FOOD; BUT PARK YOUR VEHICLE AT YOUR OWN RISK Went with my family for dining yesterday night. Parked my car right in front of the reception at a place shown by the security personnel. When we came back after dining, scratches were noted on the front and back doors on the left side, which we are sure were not there before. The security personnel denied seeing anything; however suggested to ask at the reception for CCTV footage. The person at the reception was completely insensitive to my request. In a totally uninterested way he told me to come next day if I wanted. Expected a more considerate approach towards a customer

Had Onam Sadya from BTH, costs Rs.750/-. The taste is good, but not worth the money spent(it was great if it cost only 350/-). We were sent to the 5th floor. And the ambience was bad, it felt like sitting on a wedding Sadya. The wash area and the other areas were not up to the expectations and not giving justice to the money spent.

Had come over with my cousin to the Air- India office and after his official work, had lunch at BTH. It was just awesome. All Covid-19 protocols were followed like temperature checking and sanitizing you before you enter. Since dine-in, with 50% capacity, has just restarted, you may have to wait if the seats are occupied. Overall a nice place.

Loved the food!!! I ordered ghee roast and butter ghee masala roast.... It was superb. But I am not satisfied with the coffee provided.

Hot spot for veggies. Awesome ambience and Vibes. Make sure that they have two sections. One is for the minimal snack items and dosa items. The buffet dinner will be a separate section and will open by 7pm. Overall a good ambience and a premium food experience.

The food is as tasty as I remember but a touch too salty for my taste. They have made a makeshift outdoor space for people to have food following covid protocols. It is a little shabbily built considering the status and price of the food, but I guess those are the standard rates. Still, the outdoor area could have been a little better set up.

Have been a customer since I was a kid close to 3 decades. Food is kind of highly priced now for the makeshift ambience. Especially in today's situation with lots of better options available in the market. Think they should make it better. Have a nostalgia for the place.

BTH has lost its charm. Unhygienic washrooms with water all over the floor, bad lighting, bad table hygiene. Food was pathetic. Ordered channa battura of which channa was spoilt. Reported it right there only to be replaced with another curry which was below par. Pricing is another thing I dont understand. Exorbitant pricing for a Non AC restaurant. Service is below par too. Not sure how people still flock here. Never ever going back.

Traditional tasty genuine uduppi stuff, specially when similar places like woodlands, Dwaraka etc. are almost closed down. They are maintaining the standards and food quality. Keep going.

I went for lunch (kerala lunch jnbanana leaf) with high expectations. Heard about BTH a lot. But it was not meeting my expectations in quality of food. Below average taste with worst sambar and avial. I drove a lot to reach there...... Looks like now a days, they are focusing on tourist customers than keralites. Expected a bill of around 200, but to my surprise it was 270 foe a lunch. North worthy for that money. BTH have to improve in taste

Review is for the leaf meals at lunch time. Earlier, the taste was better, now it was very average. Had to wait for quite long as it was rush hour, but it was not worth it this time. Hope it was an aberration and hope, I can rewrite this review.

Had lunch here. Traditional sadhya. Curries were good. Well kept clean place... ample parking as well. Although i felt for the carries they serve for sadhya, the cost was not that justifiable
