What a hidden gem! We’ve gotten gas at this exit for years and had never been in here before. For our anniversary my husband surprised me with a stay at an Airbnb in Alta and our host recommended this for our dinner out. Highly recommend! Dinner was absolutely delicious…pineapple salsa on salmon is my favorite. The decor was charming, and the staff very friendly. Honestly, if it weren’t for the obnoxious people sitting at the next table over with the lady who cackled like a hyena, it would have been a perfect experience.

Amazing comfort food, with full bar, all at such great prices you will think that you're no longer in California. Perfect stop off Route 80 for dinner, to or from Tahoe. The chef Tom is incredibly talented and offers unique specials each night. Also, there are at least a dozen in house desserts to choose from, so don't skip dessert!

Arriving 15 minutes before closing we were greeted warmly seated immediately and enjoyed our meal never once feeling rushed.. We ordered the Calamari appetizer, I had the chicken pasta, my fiancé had the prime rib always a gamble as, his uncle is a butcher so he’s very picky about meat, but he said his prime rib was cooked property and tasted delicious. His grandma ordered the pork chop and said it was so good on its own she didn’t want to “ruin it” with the apple pear sauce they gave her which she ate on bread instead haha. Overall We had a great family dinner with good food and a great atmosphere. the restaurant is cute on its own is with stonework and log cabin feel but the seasonal decorations are always done to perfection adding to the ambiance.

Food is good but meat temperatures seem to be only suggestions… Drinks are good… Service is warm and makes me want to go back just for that. The scampi pasta is just unacceptable. The place is really friendly though And people are great Just don’t expect the finest dining experience

Got snowed in and was having problems getting my chains on so came to this little gem. $15 special was a teriyaki prime rib that was out of this world. Really cozy old gold mining restaurant

What a lovely dinner experience. I had seared ahi tuna, seared to perfection. Our server was fantastic, the band in the background, superb. All in all a wonderful evening

There's no place better, that's all there is to it. It use to be more of a local hidden secret, times and population going up the hill have changed that so make sure to get a reservation if it's a busy weekend. But you can never go wrong with anything about Monte Vista it's magical !

Monte Vista was absolutely amazing! The food and service was great! I would 100% recommend this restaurant who loves home style cooking . My husband gave the Clam Chowder 10/10!

What a gem right here in the Foothills of the Sierras. Food is warm and homey. The desserts are to die for. Service is great. Only one thing. Drinks are hard to get. Very slow bar. Everything else is super.

This place is great!! The drinks, loads of specials "GREAT" prices. The food was wonderful. Make sure you look at the desserts first. It may sway your meal decision.
