A great place to have a good time, learn tons about worlds beyond Earth and marvel at the innovation and skill of NASA scientists and engineers. Free entry and plan to spend about 2 hours here. They have a great gift shop and a free photo printer, which gives you a picture with you on a spacesuit. There are also kids demonstrating a few interesting concepts. The theater is also wonderful and was very informative. The rocket/sculpture exhibit outside is also a must visit. Every first Sunday they have a live mini rocket launch session available for the public.

We took our two kids here! Very nice educational place for kids and adults. Love the set up they have here and the small gift shop too. No tickets required for entry and free parking. There are lots of benches outside for people who want to have a picnic there. Public restrooms are also available.

Great place to be to know some of the outstanding work and demonstration of NASA. Kids friendly and wheelchair accessible. You can even " smell the universe" "smell of Venus" including the sound of the SUN. which is incredible.

I went with my 3 yr old daughter for their Grow With Goddard class. Not only were there 4 great, age-appropriate activity stations for her to explore, but the class occurred an hour before the visitor center opened to the public, so we were able to explore the regular exhibits at the center, as well as the rocket garden outside, too. We even made a quick stop to the gift shop before we headed home. It was such a fun way to introduce her to real things from outer space.

It was the perfect place to visit just outside of the city center. It was quiet when we went but I imagine it must be so busy on weekends. It is a treasure trove of information about our planet and space. I especially loved smelling other planets and space (I know right?!), playing with plasma, enjoyed their outdoor display and listening and staring at the sun ;) They have very helpful staff as well who gave my kids coloring books. You guys are the best. Thank you NASA!

This is a really interesting museum if you are at all interested in space. We spent about two hours here but could’ve spent much longer. There is both an indoor part of the museum and an outdoor section where you can see various rockets and space related items. I have very limited mobility and get around on a scooter. The museum itself was accessible and had accessible bathrooms. However, there is one area where you can go into an auditorium to watch various engineers talking about their specialty. I had to sit away from my husband because there was no where for my scooter to fit on the end of a row. Also, I could not navigate the gift shop with my scooter, it was just too small. Interestingly they had one of those buttons on the door that opens the door for those with mobility issues. Other than those two obstacles the rest was able to navigate with my scooter. The admission is free and the staff were really nice and helpful.

We went on a Sunday, not crowded at all. Free, not reservations is needed. Small (compared to the DC museums) but very interactive, great for kids (ours are 5 and 7) and informations, very informative as well (Heliophysics, space exploration, space telescopes, space communication, NASA’s impact on earth and daily life, the Solarium video art is pretty cool too) All in all, we had a great time, and definitely recommend to all families living nearby or just visiting the area.

We took our son down because he loves outer space, and they were so happy and accommodating. Our son has autism, and they had sensory bags ready if we needed one, and they were happy to meet someone named James Webb (my son was born before the telescope). The Meet the Scientist segment they had was awesome, and my son loved doing the experiment they had. Julie was so sweet, and it was so fascinating listening to her talk!

It’s a little good visitor centre specially for kids. I like the solar projection over there and the walking around the area is very good and the models of racket is small and pretty well explained. We love the display of rocks and optical lenses and models of all space items and photographs. No parking issues. During weekends it’s open from 12 pm to 4 pm. The place is good for 1 to 2 hours visit.

A great place to learn about how NASA is in your daily life. Kids love this place, there are a activities available too. It's a small place but will take an hour to 2 to understand things. The satellite prototype is the attraction and the rocks from different planets are there. The solarium is good protecting the video of the sun. Must visit to know what NASA is all about.

This was a good place to take a kid who is interested in space and science. 45 minutes south of Baltimore. Only takes an hour to see the whole thing. They have a nice gift shop, and picnic tables outside.

The center has free parking and admission. The grounds have many rockets on exhibit. . The man at the desk inside the visitor center was well informed and helpful. There are several exhibits inside the center which are primarily about the technical aspects of rocketry. There is a small theater which shows a constant succession of short films about a number of topics. There is a good sized gift shop in the next building.

Nice place to go with your children to increase their education and the love for space. Who knows. Maybe they are the next scientists and investors of the next machine to navigate through the entire universe. Well in the meantime before it’s gets destroyed. But right now it’s a great place for learning and discovering.

My kids love to know more about the space and we spent a couple of hours there without even understanding how time passed. There was a kind gentlemen at the entrance, he gave us information about their work. It's a wonderful exhibit with interactive displays. Don't expect to see lots of rackets though but enjoy and learn from what it's served for free. It was great!

A small, but interesting little NASA visitors center with a small selection of things to see. Tucked back from the main road and not very well sign posted - head towards what looks like a staff gatehouse entrance and the visitors center is just off to the side before the gatehouse. You probably won't need more than an hour here, and it doesn't feel like the site was ever designed as a major tourist attraction, but if you're in the area and interested in space and NASA it could be worth a visit. There is an onsite gift shop and parking on site, but check their website for specific visiting hours, they tend to open the visitors center on public holidays, but the shop may not be open.

Really nice place to visit. Friendly staff, they gave our kids many different things like booklets, pictures, bookmarks. This place is a bit small, so you will be done in an hour or so. The displays are beautiful though, many are interactive and fun for young kids. The gift shop is regularly priced. It is located on a hill, so it's windy outside.

This place was pretty awesome. I found it while geocaching, and spent about an hour here. Lots of information, lots of interesting items to look at, and I learned so much. I honestly thought I knew about how the earth was formed, and in fact, how the galaxy was formed. But this was eye-opening. Worth a trip, and I hope to bring my grandsons here.

Living just a stone's throw away from the NASA Goddard Science Visitor Center in Greenbelt, MD, has been an absolute treat. This gem of a science center offers an enthralling experience for space enthusiasts of all ages, and the best part? Entry is absolutely free! Visiting the NASA Goddard Science Visitor Center has been an unforgettable experience for me. It's not just a mere museum; it's a gateway to the wonders of space exploration and an opportunity to marvel at the ingenuity of human scientific endeavors. If you're looking for an awe-inspiring and educational outing, this center should be at the top of your list. With free entry and easy access via the 15X bus from Greenbelt Metro Station, there's no reason not to blast off to the NASA Goddard Science Visitor Center and embark on an unforgettable cosmic journey.

Neat place that has several stations of information to read or experience via computer simulation. They were live streaming the space walk which was neat. There is an outside area where you can see different rockets and space equipment. Not a lot to do for smaller kids. My kids are 13-15 and were bored. There is a gift shop but it was poorly stocked with shirts and some items. Took us about an hour to read and walk thru stations. A mask was required to enter.

I was on a tour of Goddard as part of a conference I attended. The staff were wonderful and the center itself a delight. I was amazed at the work they do, the technology present, and the sheer size of the place. My only complaint was the visitor center was a bit clunky and outdated, but it was still very well done. Thanks for a wonderful tour and site.

Great museum & gift shop! Plenty of parking out front, really well-thought-out and interesting displays in the museum and rocket displays outside. Super nice staff, I especially loved the images from Hubble on the walls. Highly recommend if you are in the area

Fun little place. Gift shop was overpriced, but what can you expect for free admission? Recommend taking star gazers between the ages of five to ten.

I enjoyed the exhibits and learned about the Goddard Space Center. The place is rather small, but enjoyable. I was surprised to learn that the Hubble and Webb telescopes were developed in GSC, among many other satellites and probes. I take one star off because some exhibits need a bit of TLC. If your are space exploration enthusiast, I recommend visiting this, but don't expect to see a Smithsonian museum.

We absolutely loved this experience. The center was not overcrowded. There was a ton of information about space and NASA. It's a great experience for all ages. To take it home, we found out they host homeschool classes, which my kids are so excited to participate in. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great experience.

Quite a small exhibit display, but it provides a really awesome glimpse of the projects they did and still do there. Plus, having no crowds makea it easier and more fun to learn about the exhibits they have

To be quiet frank, Karen, the front desk lady who I'm assuming is a nonpaid volunteer was just being a typical Karen ...when we weren't allowed to get a sticker after she told us to do a scavenger hunt there for the kids. She told me "do you really have to be that selfish? I'm not here to give out stuff freely"... Really tho.. do you have to be that snarky after just asking a favor? Geez ... Anyways it's a small visitor center and you can probably spend 30-45 min max here. Interactive exhibits for all ages and you can view the old space rockets and items outside as well in the back.. Btw it's free to enter and parking is quaintly small 35 min drive from Baltimore..

Not a large site but it has several high quality audio visual displays with educational space material. There's a small theater with documentaries showing and a few rockets to view outside. Also a small gift shop with some unique items. When we went with family there were scientists in a room set up with activities for kids, where we faced a few interactive puzzles involving going outside. It was fun for the kids and us, and we learned about the sun. Worth looking up a schedule of similar events.

  • 5/5 Kevin K. 9 months ago on Google
Small but high quality exhibits. Seeing lunar capsule outside was a pleasant surprise. We were lucky they had an event the day we visited and a solar scientist was available to talk to. Proud of our NASA's work here.

Amazing place to get to know more about the work being done in NASA. Also, people who are there to assist are actual employees of NASA and have achieved some great things. It was a great experience discussing physics and astronomy questions we had.

This visitors center is so cram packed with awesome. The exhibits are so fun and so interactive!!! That was a shock to me! I think I way WAY underestimated how much they have to see and do! And of course the gift shop is great!

  • 5/5 Daria A. 1 year ago on Google
Great exhibits that adults and kids can enjoy. Not as big as the Smithsonian museums in DC but makes up for it with some unique exhibits. The room with the view of the sun’s surface and sounds is especially noteworthy.

The kids were so amazed by all the technology and I hope it left an impression for them to form good habits for their own future, thank you NASA for this small escape. They also have limited tours during the week, for their larger facilities.

Kids love this place. We spent 2 hours here with two 8 years and a 5 years kids. The volunteers helped kids to build a satellite (build your own TDRS - Tracking and Data Relay Satellite), coloring works, activity books. Don't miss the question answer sheet where kids have to explore and find answers. Friendly volunteers.

First visit their and what a great little place. Our family of 6 really enjoyed the visit. We spent about 2 hours here, it wasn't crowded and lots of room for the kids to room around. There is something for everyone here and the employees here were fabulous during our visit.
