If your loved one is admitted here, you won’t be able to communicate with them. My brother was admitted three days ago and I’ve yet to hear anything. In the times that I’ve called I’ve experienced the following: - straight to voicemail - operator says they don’t know the unit number and won’t be able to figure it out - being transferred to a dead end - person says they’ll take my number then immediately hangs up on me - first time I called they told me that his sister already called that morning. False. I’m his only sister and I never called before. I was successful in giving my name and number once and ANOTHER PATIENT CALLED ME BACK. They gave my number to the wrong patient. This is a psychiatric institute. You’d think they’d be careful with who they give messages to for obvious reasons. Clearly they didn’t vet if that patient knows me. I know that there are some good staff members there but the majority of them don’t care and shouldn’t be in this job. There are horror stories about this place how they let patients freely walk around and get in fights. It’s scary that he’s in there and can’t be reached. I don’t trust this place at all.

This is the worst hospital facility ever, with providing patients with the wrong medication and diagnosis, had no idea clothes were needed my loved one has been there for 1 week and I was told due to COVID outside persons will not be permitted, in addition a complaint was filed with the medical director both Alexus Obeck and Autumn Carlson which both failed to respond in a timely manner to address concerns of miss diagnosis and re evaluation. My loved one who suffers from mental illness called from a cell phone from the facility, begging to be picked up to be treated elsewhere while you hear the verbal abuse deflected from staff members to patients. It has been 4 days with no response. The staff is negligent and displays unconstitutional acts regarding patients and their well-being. DONT SEND YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY HERE. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING, they contradict every word they say. We can't even trust the people appointed to care for persons with mental illness due to a lack of compassion for our community.

If I could rate this institution 0 stars I would. Some of the staff are genuine good people but about 80% of them don’t seem to care at all about the “patients” when it’s really just a scam for insurance and Medicaid. There is no security however there are physical fights every day. They hardly feed you and when they do it’s worse than jail food, The group therapy is a joke 45min out of the 24 sleepless hours in a day. No one in their right mind would ever want to get admitted here.

if i need a psych hospitalization again, i'm specifically requesting NOT to go here. the staff either didn't notice or didn't care that i didn't eat anything for the four days i was there. another patient (who i believe to have been developmentally disabled) frequently entered other patient rooms and even went through my belongings, and the staff responded to these incidents by yelling at him; they never took any actions to prevent him from doing these things. there were bugs in my room and it was never investigated when i told the staff; i was simply labeled as psychotic. there were no groups, no therapy (or even a therapist as far as i'm aware), nothing to pass the time besides a tv that didn't work for half the time i was there. it was impossible for my fiancé to contact me while i was there. frankly, if this place is your only option, you might just be better off not going. i will likely be filing a complaint with the district against this place because of my experiences there.

I will never send my loved one to this facility ever again. Please do not send your loved ones here. Worst than prison. Staff is rude and disrespectful even management of the program. This place is terrible. Violates every protocol because they can get away with it. The state should shut this place down immediately! If I can rate 0 stars I would. This is a inhumane treatment center. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!

I am mortified that this type of facility exists this day and age. This place is something out of a horror movie. The staff and the doctors here are evil and barbaric. They fear monger you into doing whatever it is that they want you to do and threaten your freedom if you don’t take the medication they want you to take. Safety is another issue. They have no staff and the staff they do have are not able to manage the violent patients in their floor. I feared for my life more than once at this place. This place needs to be investigated. Im

My daughter was being transferred her after a hospital discharge. So I took it upon myself to do research of the facility. I started with the reviews...so disheartening. I called to see if I could get a better feel of the place, by speaking with someone. After having to leave a message on the voice-mail and many attempts to get through, finally someone picked up the phone. In mid sentence of me asking a question. I was interrupted. When I proceeded with my question I was hung up on. And they said NO visiting hours what so ever, since COVID... Sounds like a prison with a hidden agenda. I gave the one star ONLY to be able to share my experience.

Grateful for this place to exist. I came in as a walk in off the street because I needed help that minute. It was experience here that the vast majority of the staff went above and beyond in every way they could think of to make myself as a patient comfortable and cared for. The minute I walked into admissions I felt cared for and that I did not have to handle it alone any more. Shout out to Hazel for seeing what I needed and giving me her own water bottle when I had not had anything to eat or drink till I walked in. Margo who did my intake interview was so amazingly sympathetic to what I had been going through. It felt so good to be validated. Then I went up to unit 7 and met Gary who I would later see be a phenomenal caretaker for all my fellow patients on the unit. From keeping calm when someone displayed extreme behavior to joking and finding ways to give us a therapeutic experience. The taker for me was when my roommate had a panic attack and I asked for ice to help calm her. He could not give me the packs they had for safety reasons but he came up with a wonderful solution. Showing again that true passion and care for our wellbeing. Thank you all for the work you do everyday.

This place needs to be shut down immediately, no care or respect for patients. Disregard for health and sanity. Food is terrible, showers are ice cold. Employees force religious beliefs. Not profesional what so ever

My daughter who is 18yrs which is an adult was transferred to this facility I googled it just to see what services they offered, to my surprise the ratings and reviews are disheartening , so I called ASAP because now I'm very concerned about my daughter, the person who I spoke to was rude told me she been there for years and that nobody is perfect when I made her aware of the reviews and ratings WOW then transferred me abruptly when asked to speak to a clinical manager. Now i'm very worried

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO! You won’t sleep. It’s not a safe environment for the mentally ill.

This place is horrible. The staff other than one lady was rude and unkind and ignorant. There was no compassion for the patient. The parking was a nightmare to be nicely put. The location for this for EMS companies to access is unacceptable. There is no way to park and offload a patient on the street safely or manageable. This place is a joke. Do not go there. I'd love to speak to the owner. We are to big of a ambulance to use the garage parking and that is not safe to unload a patient. I did make a call before arriving and it was ridiculous.

No communication from them since my mom arrived even though they received proper POA health care proxy from previous transferring crisis center. My mother who is chronically mentally ill with schizophrenia affective disorder and vascular dementia is at PIW and they will not recognize my POA and Healthcare Proxy saying she is not mental incapacitated. She carried the diagnosis since I was 5 yrs old. I’m in my 4th decade of life. I certainly beg to differ. I gained POA-Healthcare Care Proxy because the system was negligence and neglected infection in her foot that led to amputation. I can’t visit her to lay eyes on her and I can’t talk with a medical / psychiatrist provider about plan of care going forward. Lead clinical social worker is all I got today and I feel so bad and left out of my mothers care. They didn’t have her current medical history or current medications on board. Not treating her as an whole. I have major concerns SMH. They are disregarding my Healthcare Proxy and POA and talking to a behavioral health caseworker only who hasn’t been following her as an whole. Fars I know my mom could be treated with meds not approved by FDA and I am at a lost for help. I’m locked out of her care and it’s illegal. This is not a case of HIPPA violation either.

I do NOT recommend this psychiatric facility. It is very dirty, there was a case of bedbugs when I was there, there are fights that break out, and when someone is out of control they inject with medicine and lock them up in the quiet room. They don't take Medicare so I had to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket. The took me off my medications cold turkey.

I really have to say that this clinic should provide a line where we can confirm that a loved one got processed completely. It hurts me that I am the main contact person and still can't find out if they are completely okay and processed with a bed. Provide a hotline for the patient to reach the main person that dropped them off.

I have a Friend that’s currently in here 11/25/2023. On unit 1. This place is beyond trash and I rather die before I let a loved one go here. They never return phone calls. They don’t want to help and the nurses who answers the phones really don’t care about you or your loved one. They are very rude. My love one(female) surrounded by other man who threatened to kill her and do sexual harm to her. Why are men and female in the same section first of all. One of the men had bitten her and she called me scared for her life. I called the hospital and the nurse said she didn’t hear anything about it. Nurse never called me back and nor did they treat my friend fast enough. Like what if this guy was invested with AIDS or HIV….. My friend had to call 911 INSIDE OF THE HOSPITAL just so she could get help. Mind you this is a hospital for mental treatment not for my loved one to get beat on by men. She is already going through enough and you guys can’t keep her safe? What kind of institution is this. You guise should really be ashamed of yourselves. This is a circus that needs to be shut down immediately and investigated. Please avoid this place at all cost. I rather travel to a hospital in another country before I ever let any of my family come here. Bad part about it is they won’t discharge my friend but keep her in an unsafe environment which she has been hurt already. Shaking my head at this place.

Was here in 2018. No clue who suggested this place. I’m guessing some ignorant nurse at an ER. Mental health care is a joke in the US. I wasn’t admitted for some reason. They put me in a room and I was having undiagnosed withdrawal Akathisia. I had no idea what was wrong with me. I couldn’t sit still. I was on the floor rolling around, screaming and crying. Like who turns away someone clearly having withdrawal Akathisia from coming off psych meds? We went from place to place looking for help. No one picked up on the fact that I had been cut off my psych meds BY A DOCTOR. If you’re having a crisis, this place isn’t the place to go.

Went here when I was 12 and it just made me more suicidal and more ignored than ever. Not to mention as an adolescent, walking outside of my floor was horrifying because the older patients would get too close. Also had a nurse there that would touch me too much for comfort.

I am so happy I sought treatment, from beginning to end my experience was five stars. From being greeted and helped walking and checking out, everyone was so attentive & empathetic. I loved working with Mrs. Tammy she has such a powerful testimony and she provided a lot of tough love. Mrs. Marie was an amazing nurse so compassionate. Dr. Husain was nice and helped me. I hope so don’t have to return but if I did it would definitely be at PIW.

If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction and/or mental health, this is an EXCELLENT place to receive help. The staff is truly exceptional and very compassionate! I was in TERRIBLE condition when I was brought to the facility. The expert level care that I received made it possible for me to return to my normal life in just one week. They even made sure that I had a solid plan to continue my care once I was discharged. I would urge ANYONE who is looking for this type of assistance to go to this wonderful place. Hopefully, I will never need them again. God bless

I attended the outpatient partial hospitalization program at PIW. Everyone was great and really helped support me through my mental health crisis. They are trauma informed and do a great job making PIW a safe place to heal.

I just want to take the time to say thanks to the psychiatric Institute of Washington DC for guiding me through a hard time. I've been through a couple of detox centers, but PIW made up my experience by having staff members that made me feel like I was important. Counselor Leonard was great. Terrence, Rhonda, and Karon to name a few had a lot of great experiences to share. Karon thanks for taking us to dinner. Wish we had more activities or movies about recovery, I think it would have made my experience even better.

Trying to find out information on my daughter and they are rude and continue to hang up on me. My daughter has signed paperwork to provide me information about her care and they continue to hang up on me.

I cannot accurately express how much PIW’s outpatient group therapy changed and saved my life. I started my program in July of this year feeling broken and hopeless in the midst of a mental health crisis. The outpatient staff (Amanda, Ariel, Imani, and Sheila) are amazing mental health professionals who facilitate a warm and inviting healing environment. I would highly recommend this program to anybody who needs or wants to process their trauma. I couldn’t ask for a better experience.

Taj was so helpful and informative with the intake process. She walked us through each step even down to the paperwork packet that was super long. I’ve been there in the past but she had me upstairs in no time.

I wanted to take the time to say thank you to the person that picked up the phone when I called the hospital to reach my teenage daughter I think she said her name was Precious… I have been worried since my daughter got admitted and she was very reassuring and helpful. She got me in touch with the nurse supervisor Daniel who made sure I spoke to my daughter…

The admission department was amazing. They reassured me that the process was going to be easy and smooth when I called over the phone. Everyone was very positive and made my transition into sobriety very easy by making sure I had everything I needed prior to arriving.

I know this institution doesn’t get all the credit they deserve because of the people they help but my teenage daughter was in crisis and when the school told me to take her there. They placed me in a room with a nurse who helped us via zoom. The experience was very different and efficient.. I think all the people we met who helped with the assessment were very supportive and helpful.

I attended the PIW PHP program for 45 days and I went in skeptical of therapy because I attended therapy at a different hospital and was not happy. The staff was great, knowledgeable and helped me make the most of the program. I graduated from the program with the mental space to live life! PIW was a critical step in treatment and took me out of a dark place. The nurse was great too. She helped me dial-in my medications to complement the therapy. PIW was a total package and if I need therapy again I will happily go back.

I was a patient in PiW's PHP/IOP program for over three months in the summer of 2022. Doing the program there was a life-changing, healing, and inspiring experience. I needed help, and the staff running the PHP/IOP program gave me compassionate care, practical tools for staying balanced and working through my trauma, and made the process fun a lot of the time. I felt I could truly be myself in that space, that I was safe, and that the people working with me cared about me and my recovery. I am so thankful for my time at PiW and the staff who made the effects of the experience so lasting, especially my case manager, Imani, but I also felt very supportive and am thankful for my interactions with Sheila, Dr. Hussein, and Amanda. I have been completely stable and in bipolar euthymia for over a year, but I am glad PiW is there if I need extra support. Thank you to everyone who took part in helping me feel heard and get well.

This place is horrible. It is extremely dirty and unkept and the nurses are very rude. They wouldn’t even give me a pillow. They let a patient sleep in food crumbs and their own urine and did not care when it was brought to their attention. They are all very rude and do not help at all. All this place does is stress you out and make you feel 1000x worse. It feels like a prison
