The environment here is very good. Every staff member is very enthusiastic and patient. My little baby was born here. I am very happy to meet the professional team here. Although there will not be too many such experiences in life, but With such a small chance that you can meet such a good team, it means that the staff here are of a standard at all times! My wife has always been in the maternity department at Georgetown University Hospital, but at that time there was an emergency, there were no beds there, so I was forced to transfer here, so we were not familiar with this place from the beginning, but the quality of medical care here is still impressive. I am very satisfied and amazed! Thank you to all the medical staff who serve us, as well as our chief surgeon, Dr. Green!

I’ve always had positive experiences at sibley but not this time. I’ve been sitting in the er for 9 and a half hours. I’ve had my blood drawn and and IV put in and left to sit in the waiting room this whole time. I am an amputee (amputation done at Sibley) and I have an infection. I was admitted last week for 3 days for IV antibiotics and sent home with 5 days of oral antibiotics even though I told them I cannot take oral. I vomited the oral antibiotics for 5 days and am back at the hospital because my infection is still there. Everyone that came into the er after me is gone. They say they are going by acute cases but leaving me in the er for almost 10 hours (and counting) makes me feel like I don’t matter. I’m extremely upset and feel neglected.

This hospital needs to be seriously investigated for negligent patient care and no standards of cleanliness. This is a liability and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been sued for negligence in patient deaths. I will be contacting more people because of this. Took my friend to the ER because she was having extreme abdominal pain that probably occurred because of a gluten allergy attack. The staff kept asking if she had drank or smoked weed recently, probably trying to really push to see if it was just a hangover. The staff was extremely rude and aggressive and caused her even more pain at times. The ER was less than half empty when we were there but somehow they took 2 hours just to give her an IV. As they were getting blood samples I guess the phlebotomist was too lazy to get a separate cart so she just used our table with all our personal belongings on it to do her blood work. The picture shown was AFTER the lady took the 4 blood viles off the table. She looked confused and didn’t know which vile went in which bag , and even got BLOOD on the table near our stuff!! Didn’t bother to clean up the spilt blood. I had to wait another hour just to get somebody’s attention to ask for gloves and wipes to clean it up myself. After 3 hours, and complaining about 2 or 3 times, they gave her morphine. Still rough and aggressive. We were fed up and just told them we wanted to be discharged. We waited another HOUR AND A HALF. At this point we’ve been in the ER for 4.5 hours. Nothing was done. Nobody was helping. Still haven’t seen any doctor. We pulled out the IV ourselves and walked out and went to another hospital. Wasted so much time and actually caused more pain. Please don’t come here

If you were shooting a movie and needed a fancy looking hospital to film at, Sibley would be your choice. Most of the hospital is beautifully updated. There are lounges, cafes, vegan bar, grand piano, waterfalls, ponds - aesthetically pleasing wherever you look. The staff, doctors and nurses are all great as well. Parking is $6 for 2 hours, $9 for 3 hours and up to $12 for 24 hours I think.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at an emergency room. But still very worthy of 5 stars. I was in at 9:30a. They drew blood at 10:15a. I didn’t get into a room until about 4p. I watched literally every person in the lobby get called back before me. By the time I go in a room. There were no familiar faces. A supervisor came out around 3:15. And I explained to her what I came for. And how long I had been waiting. She assured me she would look into it. And about 45 min later, I had a room. Once in the room. The nurses jumps into action. I got my cat scan. Nothing unusual. And they did what they needed to do. Once complete. I did have to wait an unusually long time for my discharge papers. But when I asked what was going on, I was out within 10 minutes. The staff was very overwhelmed but the people, the attitudes, the trash talking. But nobody lost patience. Everyone did the best they could. And even though it took a while. I left happy and satisfied with how the day was spent. Kudos to the entire ER staff at SMH! Thank you!

This would have been a 5/5 review if it weren’t for an incredibly rude nurse by the name of Leslie Lundy. I went to the ER and was worked up right away from there. My radiology tech was fantastic but things went down hill from there. We waited hours in a room and absolutely no one checked in on us. When I asked someone for an update, a nurse, by the name Leslie Lundy, was incredibly rude and unhelpful. In sharp contrast, the two doctors that spoke to us were kind and thorough. Both doctors were ready to send us away but nurse Leslie Lundy was tasked to take out my IV. She did not come. After sometime I walked up to ask her for my IV to be taken out. Again, Leslie Lundy couldn’t help but be rude and dismissive. At this point my dogs have been home alone for over 12 hours. It’s past 9pm and I am still waiting for Leslie Lundy do to anything but sit at her desk with a bad attitude. This was a tough day for us. Leslie Lundy, you seem like a rotten person. We also noticed how are you turned over your ID badge so we wouldn’t catch your name. You also refused to tell us your name when we asked you for it. Shady. Your coworker was happy to share it with us though. You and I both know that you do not belong in the healthcare field. Please do everyone a favor and spare other patients from your maladaptive personality.

When we were in the ER, I kept hearing a nurse yelling at her patients loudly and rudely like she is the boss. I really feel bad for those patients who had to go through her attitude, whoever were treated by her were definitely in pain and shouldn't have to be treated like that. The nurse acted like she is doing some kind of charity for everyone there, she is definitely the boss. I was very intimidated to ask her anything. She was very loud and telling the patients off. I was shocked that patients actually had to beg the nurse to come in to help. I am very disappointed from this experience. Oh I suggest you to learn some nursing skills if you choose to go to this ER- Such as how to adjust IV, how to discharge your IV, how to adjust those hospitals beds, how to check your temp by using their equipment because you might need it because some of the nurses there will just keep saying they are busy, you can't rely on the nurse.

I use to love this hospital but after yesterdays experience with my mother, never again! She came in with intense coughing and were informed of a 4 hour wait. We know there's a world wide pandemic going on so we agreed to the wait. 4 hours became 10 HOURS. She got x-rayed after 5 hours and we had to wait 5 hours for results. RIDICULOUS. HORRIBLE communication. No ones name was called for 1.5 hour periods. There was a girl in the room with intense pain that was not attended for (she was black) and this young white male comes in with a fever and he gets seen immediately with BOTH his parents in the waiting room and sent to the back. My mom got treated poorly because she couldn't speak English while doing her x-ray but the rude technician. 3 PEOPLE LEFT AFTER WAITING 5 HOURS. Heres the kicker, the security officer on site during the evening in the ER is a terrible human being. My dad was with my mom and I was translating and after 9.5 hours of waiting, this "security officer" decides to enforce a rule we were unaware of especially since we were there for 9 hours......the rule was "only one person per patient being seen". We completely understand but why enforce this after 9 hours. We were so drained. Why wasn't this communicated and enforced to the other family? I will NEVER recommend this place again. Do better. Communicate with your patients outside waiting, attend to those who are pleading for assistance. BE CONSISTENT. EVEN DURING A PANDEMIC. DO BETTER.

My experience at SMH ER this past week was in one word: Inhumane. For many years my family has loved and been served well by Sibley, and as such we have been glad to both donate to them and solicit donations from others on their behalf. However, my recent experience within their ED was unacceptable. I arrived via ambulance presenting with severe COVID symptoms, including stridor and inability to breath. Upon arrival, I was greeted by an angry nurse berating me with the question of “Why did you come here from Mclean?” I was then left unattended in a room for hours on end, with my oxygen falling to dangerously low levels, alarms sounding, and no one came to check on me. I double checked to see if patient vitals were being monitored behind the nurses station desk: they were NOT. Simply put: my symptoms were made worse from going to the ER and also were not treated. Not once in 5+ hours did someone check on me, apart from to take blood or perform a test. I asked for help to the bathroom and no one ever came so I myself had to unhook all cords, monitoring devices, and IV to go to the bathroom. The only person that acted with any empathy, care, or concern was the ED Doctor. Everyone else was cold, harsh, and dismissive. Nothing about this experience was “compassionate care in a comfortable environment.” The experience was appalling. When I left and was given my paperwork and labs, I was furthermore shocked to find dangerously abnormal labs that were neither discussed with me nor factored into the minimal care that was administered. My PCP was also appalled. Sibley, my family and I are extremely disappointed in you. We expect better. Reader: as once big fans of Sibley, we can confidently say do NOT come here for emergency care. Do yourself a favor and go across the River to Virginia to be treated with compassion, empathy, and competent care.

One of the most horrible experiences of my life was that Sibley’s ER. I’m writing this review because this is bad, inhuman, and unfair and I don’t want more people to experience this horror. I went there after experiencing sharp stabbing pain in my lower abdomen. I was in excruciating pain. I was literally screaming. I decided to go after 24 hours of pain in my home. I’m pregnant, it was a weekend, I was terrified for my baby’s health and I can’t just take any drug. They drew blood, left me with an IV for 7 hours screaming and crying in a room. The pain was so bad, I had moments where I wished I wasn’t alive. There was only ONE doctor in the entire ER. She described my pain when I went out of the room to look for her as “discomfort”. It took the doctor 5 hours to send someone to do an ultrasound, 6 hours to give me painkillers and another hour to print out my discharge papers. I went back home physically and mentally drained. The pain was so bad that it started to spread to my sides, back, and thighs. I don’t know why it has to be this bad! Why something that could literally take 5 minutes should take 7 hours! It felt like deliberate stubbornness. Whatever she did could have been done by the many nurses staring at a computer screen silently and awkwardly while a patient next door is screaming from the pain. It felt like being in a Hunger Games movie. Read the damn RESEARCH on ER restructuring. It’s free. I can send you a copy. What a shame that this is associated with Johns Hopkins.

I expected a lot more from this hospital. I worked at the Baltimore campus. This is NOT the Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, the name is the same, but I don't think my father would have had the experience he had at Sibley at the main campus in Baltimore. It felt like the doctors here were essentially telling my father to give up; they did not end up helping him. We ended up having to take him to Georgetown Hospital. I wish we would have gone to Georgetown first! They actually tried to help him, they explained everything to us, we had several specialties seeing him, and they made him comfortable. At Sibley I had to beg and I mean beg and plead with the staff for a specialist to see him. It felt like I was the only one fighting for my old man, because they had already given up on him.

HHS where are you??? My doctor called EMS 11/13/23, and I ended-up at Sibley. If you value your health, avoid Sibley hospital. They are so blatantly understaffed that they should not be allowed to receive patients under such conditions. The rooms are filthy. The nurses too busy running around to properly care for patients, and don’t bother calling for help, because they’ll just turn the system OFF, and no one will come. Doctor Goleb ignored my patient rights, when I asked to be transferred to another hospital. They transferred me to Tuckerman “rehab” center, WITHOUT disclosing that that facility had residents infected with covid 19. According to Tuckerman administration staffer -Britania- such information was disclosed to Sibley’s Brian. I only was told of the Covid 19 infection the day after admission, when a Tuckerman staffer told me: “You have to wear mask, we have covid on this floor!” That’s when Tuckerman told me they had disclosed the covid cases to Sibley.

This place has definitely started going downhill. Now it's still better than places like Howard Hospital (which isn't surprising to anybody), but it's also not the Sibley it used to be: A good chunk of the staff seems to operate more disjointedly and more lazily than they did 4 years ago. Sometimes, the late evening-shift lady at the ER desk will be off somewhere doing who-knows-what while people in the ER are left waiting forever for her. If she has to do something, then there should atleast be one other person to cover the desk for her so that people arent just...waiting. Now I can understand that the pandemic knocked everything out of wack for healthcare-workers, but despite that, I've been to other hospitals (in 2023) that still operated with much more efficiency than this place, so there's still no excuse for certain things. In this area, I recommend going to Virginia Hospital Center or GWU (now GWU is a little more crowded, but that's to be expected considering their location. Despite that, GWU still operated with more care and efficiency than Sibley)

I’d heard good things about Sibley, so I decided to make my first visit because it is close to my house. Worst mistake…and I’ll NEVER go there again. Waited seven hours and never saw a doctor. The waiting room wasn’t very clean. The facility is old and in desperate need of renovation. The staff seemed to operate with very little sense of urgency (although they were nice and pleasant). An elderly homeless man was left on the floor while we (patients) helped him up and back to his wheelchair. We called for help and no one came. I should have left sooner, but we kept hoping we’d at least see a doctor. At hour seven we left with our test results and drove 20 minute to Inova Fairfax. Within 10 minutes my daughter was seen by a doctor, comfortably nestled in a private room, and they reviewed her test results and ordered more. The quality of care was night and day. I’m embarrassed that DC thinks Sibley is what its residents deserve. And as a Black woman it broke my heart even more that the majority of the patients at Sibley were also Black. DC deserves better.

My wife and I delivered our baby here and it was mostly a good experience, but with one major problem. Sibley has a cruel and inhumane policy allowing only one guest visitor in the post-natal room, and as the father, I count as a guest. This prohibit me from being in the room when my mother met her newborn granddaughter. Sibley is still enforcing Draconian COVID restrictions in September 2022 when most of society has moved on. My mother is staying in our house both before and after our hospital stay, so this policy is doing nothing to prevent the spread. I would rather see my mother's face when she meets her granddaughter. End the madness, Sibley.

I just has surgery here at this hospital. My third surgery in 5 months due to breast cancer, but the first time I had surgery at this location. The staff in both pre-op and post-op went above and beyond to take care of me. My anesthesiologist was fantastic. I generally get very sick from anesthesia, but not this time. I greatly appreciate courtesy, kindness and care I received. I would highly recommend them!

I love the staff at Sibley in labor & delivery! They are always so accommodating and sweet. Had a scare this past Friday night and had to leave my routine appointment and go over to Sibley for further test. Everyone was waiting on me and prepared I was in an out! Excited to deliver my second baby here in a few weeks!

This is the worst experience I have ever had. I had high hopes that I would be treated well because I heard good things about John Hopkins hospitals. Today I unfortunately had to go there because I was experiencing an acute pain. I felt like the front end staff was more caring than the nurse I ended up with in the back. Her disposition was cold and nonchalant, when she spoke to me it seemed as if it was at me and not to me. When the physician came in I thought maybe he will be better at listening than she. I thought it was going in a direction of care that I expected but no I was let in the room for 2-3 hr told I was waiting for an ultrasound only got labs done and was almost discharged but I had to advocate for myself. I was then left for another hour before I got pain management. At this point my bp was extremely high 168/118 as I laid in pain and the monitor continuously went off. I wasn’t rude or disrespectful to anyone here so I don’t get why I am being treated like I don’t matter like my claims about my body don’t matter. I work in healthcare as well and I treat all my patients with dignity, care, compassion and respect regardless of their insurance policy, background, circumstance and condition. It’s truly disappointing and heartbreaking when you see this happening in healthcare. I probably will never come here again.

We just arrived home from receiving excellent care from Sibley’s Labor and delivery department. Everyone involved at every stage of the process was so kind and helpful, including the room service staff and environmental services. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to support us during the process of welcoming our first. Really appreciate all of it considering the current challenges faced by health care professionals during this pandemic.

My Aunt was taken to Sibley by EMS. This happened on a Sunday. I spent two days calling Sibley to find out where my Aunt was and her condition. I was transferred around to multiple departments. I didn't know if she was dead or alive. Nobody at Sibley knew who to call or speak with regarding a patient that didn't show on their current roster, but that had been there a day before. My Aunt was literally LOST! I ended up having to call a funeral home. They were ablet to call Sibley and find out what had happened to my Aunt in about 5 minutes. If it wasn't for them, I still wouldn't know where my Aunt was. Luckily she is alive. She was transferred to another hospital a day after arriving at Sibley. It is ridiculous that I had to wait and wonder if my Aunt was alive or not because the Sibley support staff could not help me. Having to assume someone is dead and use a funeral home to get the information is absurd. Do better Sibley....

I decided to have a hip procedure here, not knowing anything about SMH beforehand. It's nearly 30 miles from home, but I'm glad that I chose this hospital for my surgery. Everyone I met from security to the nurses to the doctors were pleasant, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Before surgery, a nurse gave me warmed towelettes to sanitize my body and then wrapped me in warmed blankets. This was so comforting given the fact that I was about to have my first surgery. The premises were spotless; I've never seen such a clean and tidy hospital.

I gave birth here and had a positive experience for the most part, but I can’t get over the fact that I was billed for a pediatric discharge that babies are required to have before leaving Sibley. We asked if we could see our own pediatrician instead but no, we had to wait for the pediatrician at the hospital and then received a surprise $175 bill because the Sibley pediatrician looked at our baby for 3 minutes before we were allowed to leave. This wasn’t covered by insurance by the way, and I have excellent coverage from the largest insurance company in the DMV.

I normally don't write reviews but I had to take a moment to voice my appreciation for this facility and their services. We delivered our son at Sibley in December 2021 and had a wonderful experience. The facility is beautiful and clean, the doctors and staff are extremely professional and caring, and they went to great lengths to customize my and our baby's care based on our specific needs. PS - This is not a factor in choosing a hospital but the food is delicious. I thought we would order delivery food daily but we ended up not wanting to because the choices and quality exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend Sibley to anyone looking for a clean facility, professional and caring staff, and an overall enjoyable labor and delivery experience. Thank you Sibley!

Used Sibley twice in the last month and have been shocked and disappointed with their service. The first visit was for Emergency Room care after a fall. I am 80 years old and fell on the street. Arrived at 4:30 pm and left at 10 pm. My wounds were never cleaned during that time. I had a broken elbow; swollen knee and really cut up face, Second time was for my husband’s pre op tests. Arrived at 9:45 and we are still waiting at 12:10. No communication just a jam packed waiting room. Johns Hopkins should be ashamed of this facility. I notice that they do not send out service surveys and it is clear why the do not.

Emergency room is a trap! Spent 4 hours only to leave and go home without any information on my labs! Oh yeah my blood was drawn when seen by triage 5 minutes after check in. The excuse is no room/beds. Who needs that. If my issues wasn't that serious send a nurse at least to tell me what the labs say!! I will never again.

This hospital is beautiful! Although the ER wait time to get a room was a little long, everything else was worth it. My dad was a cancer patient here and stayed for 2 weeks before being transferred to a hospice center. The food is delicious! I stayed every night for 2 weeks and they never had an issue with it! The doctors that worked with my dad were absolutely great! They listened to everything he had to say and WANTED to make him feel better no matter how much time it would take. All the doctors were friendly, caring, upfront and treated you like we were royalty! The nurses.. WOW! I've never met a group of nurses who truly care about their patients. Sophie, Mary, Lola, Maddie, and Gracie are a dream team to have! These women truly are angels! You can see they love their job and taking care of the patient to all extremes! They made my dad feel so safe during his stay. We can't rave enough about them but they deserve to be recognized for how amazing they are! We had a great experience here! Not all hospitals will be perfect, and wait times are normal, but to find a group of doctors, nurses and great food.. now that's hard to come by! Thank you all for everything you did for my dad and our family!

Nurse Mary Patenta young white lady red hair in Building B 5th Floor very rude and condescending. Visiting love ones who are suffering is hard enough, and then to top it off having to deal with un-compassionate human beings. Nurses Rose a beautiful Italian lady and Marie a beautiful Brown skin American however were very nice and caring and helpful. They deserve a raise.

Subject: Extremely Disappointing Experience at Sibley Memorial Hospital I am writing this review with great disappointment regarding the disrespectful treatment my husband and I received from the front lobby security guard at Sibley Memorial Hospital. On February 8, 2024, at 4:30 am, we arrived at the hospital via Uber, as my husband was in a critical condition and required immediate medical attention. To our dismay, when I went to retrieve a wheelchair for my ailing husband, the security guard rudely intercepted and instructed me to put it back. Perplexed, I questioned this directive, to which the security guard callously responded, "he walked in here, didn't he?" This insensitive remark added unnecessary stress to an already challenging situation. Understandably distressed by the security guard's lack of empathy, I promptly contacted his supervisor to report the incident. Despite assurances of an investigation, it is now 6:00 pm, and I have yet to receive any follow-up from the hospital staff. This lack of communication only adds to my frustration and disappointment. I believe that such behavior is entirely unacceptable, especially in a healthcare setting where compassion and understanding should be paramount. If it were not for the urgency of my husband's condition, the situation could have escalated further. As someone who is often described as "too nice," I can attest that this experience has left me genuinely upset and dissatisfied with the level of service provided by Sibley Memorial Hospital. I sincerely hope that this review prompts the necessary actions to address the behavior of the front lobby security guard and ensures a more respectful and compassionate environment for future patients and their families.

After a terrible experience in Georgetown University Hospital, the staff at Sibley Memorial was not only efficient and knowledgeable about my situation, but also caring, respectful and friendly. The doctors were amazing keeping the communication open and the nurses in this place are a wonderful team. From Soyoung to Charlita, they all made me feel more comfortable and positive about my recovery. THANKS!

Recently, I had two experiences with Sibley Hospital: one was preparation for surgery and a surgical procedure, and the other, was bringing my father after he received subpar care at another medical facility. Both times, I was extremely impressed with the care: the facilities, the procedues, the nurses, the overall comfort of the room. My room was so quiet and comfortable that I could actually begin to recover in peace. I did not feel the need to rush from the hospital because I did indeed felt like I have privacy and dignity while I recovered in those first few days. I was extremely comfortable which started my road to recovery on a strong start. Sibley will be my go-to from here on.

Good staff and great care. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for the 1 guest policy. My child was born at Sibley and I had to leave the room when a friend came to visit because the companion (me) is considered a visitor. Apparently this is a Hopkins policy and they should make an effort to revise it. Because of that we were unable to get our first family photos taken and had to have lunch in two separate rooms.

I have mixed feelings about what I just experienced at this ER. I felt bad for the staff members who were yelled at or disrespected by patients who were in the waiting room. However, after waiting for about 6 hours, I started understanding the frustration. It 6 hours to get sent back to “Fast Track” and then 2 hours before I was seen by anyone at all. When I went out to see the PA and ask when will I be seen she explained she’s doing the best she can and she will see me soon, but she didn’t say this kindly. The staff overall were kind but all of them seemed to be working in a very toxic environment. Some of the patients were extremely obnoxious and you couldn’t do anything but try to ignore it. I’m also not very confident in the diagnosis I was given. In total, I was there for 9 hours to basically be given motrin. I don’t feel better at all, I actually feel worse and expressed this concern but I was also ready to go. I would not come back to this ER. I can’t speak on other departments of the hospital.

Had D&C operation here. Of course I was not happy going though the missed abortion operation, but the team of professionals at Sibley were so caring and made my experience as comfortable as possible. This includes outpatient surgical center receptionist. Really appreciate their care!

My stay in labor and delivery was great! The nurses were amazing, they were so helpful kind and caring. My room was cleaned everyday and there were fresh towels for the shower. The food was better than your average hospital food. The only thing I will say is the cafeteria staff that delivered the food were A-Holes one slammed my tray down and knocked over my water all over me and my bed with my baby. I asked him for paper towels and he told me “we don’t do that” and walked out smh. The others also slammed trays and left not sure what was going on but they sucked. But overall my experience here was better than at GeorgeTown. It was quiet and calm no chaos they had a juice bar downstairs also which was cool.

The worst hospital for black cancer patients. My uncle is there, a black man for 5 days with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and they have him sitting in his bed like a research subject, not offering pancreatic enzymes or providing a direction for his care. This is the reality of the healthcare for black people in America. DISGUSTING AND UNACCEPTABLE!!! To the doctors, I wish you and your family this level of care you have provided him.

If you want doctors and nurses to disregard you for 8 hours at a time this is the place for you. If you want to stay additional days that are not warranted this is the place for you. I was kept additional day due to elevated blood pressure however no bp machine put in room and they would check every 8 hours. Husband had to go home to get our personal blood pressure machine Every nurse Promises to do what you request knowing they will not and just past along you next nurse at end of shift. If you want umbilical cord pulled out of the trash can and attempt to draw blood for it this is the place for you. If you want your new baby’s first 10 minutes out in the world is for 3 nurses ( yes 3 at the same time ) puncturing the new borne foot for 40 min to obtain a vial of blood due to throwing away the umbilical cord then this is the place for you. 2 years ago it was better service however even then they fed a new born expired formula in the newborn intensive care unit. Labor division was not busy at all which eliminates potential excuse of nurse shortage. We will be staying away from this place going forward and do not give to much emphasis on the name John Hopkins as it has become bottom of the barrel.

I had such an amazingly positive experience at the Sibley ER yesterday and had to write a review. The triage nurses were really fantastic and caring. They stayed calm even though it was a hectic day and they were so kind. I especially appreciated them because I passed out in the ER and they were so kind when waking me up and helping me feel better. The ER nurses (Alex and Liz) were amazing! So helpful and kind and attentive. They really lightened my mood because they were so kind and caring. They also took the time to explain everything to me and really make sure I was okay. This was amazing to me because I knew the ER was very busy that day. The doctor, Dr. Eltaki, was absolutely fantastic. She was so smart and caring and made me feel really cared about and important. She also really took the time to explain things to me. I really really appreciated her!

The reason that I’m giving one star to this place; it’s because the lack of support or information that they send out to every new or existing patient whenever you need to do labs, visiting , or just by moving around the hospital. The rudeness that I experienced myself just trying to get to the lab, was annoyed , frustrated and disappointed situation . It will be well received and appreciated it . The medical staff are very nice , professional and helpful people .

Sibley is a good hospital OVERALL, FAST . If I have to go, it's early in the morning. I will suffer with whatever pain that I have to take the wee hours. The nurses and transporters are exceptionally amazing personalities. A few female doctors that I came across their bedside manners across the board! The one thing is I'm an epileptic ( seizures), and I was admitted. I have a specific time that I take my medicine , and they wanted to give it to me at 9 pm. If I take my medicinethe same time every day, please deprive me of my tim.. And I seized. Because you have to be very careful with epilepsy. 💜

Don’t bring anyone you care about to their Emergency Department. The doctors and nurses regularly mistreat their patients, including neglecting them and mistreating them. This review is specifically about the Emergency Department. Go elsewhere, trust me. This is my assessment as a medical professional myself (ICU nurse) having been treated there as a patient. Avoid at all costs, go to Georgetown instead.

My mom hurt her foot and we have been in the ER since 3pm. it’s now 6:39pm and they just called her in the back. Now we’re sitting in a room. It’s not like the emergency room is full. What are they doing?? All I see is staff moving around slow motion. No doctor has seen her yet. This is awful. What does someone do when they are in pain??? If this is our medical system then this is terrible. I will give this experience 0 stars.

I cannot imagine a better hospital. Staff, systems, everything is great from my point of view: smart, responsive, courteous, kind. I notice that staff are respectful of each other. In 10 days I only saw one person being mean to visitors. That seems like a very good sign.

I recently gave birth here and couldn't be more thankful for such a great team of doctors, nurses, clinicians, specialists, and hospital staff!!! We had some scary complications but everyone was amazing and we have a healthy baby girl thanks to them. The L&D and postpartum rooms are comfortable and fairly spacious, and the food is better than you'd expect for a hospital!! Shoutout to L&D nurse Elena especially for being with us for basically her whole shift and being so supportive and encouraging 💖

Came in the ambulance in an Addisonian crisis only to be sat in the lobby for hours while I rode it out on my own. No protocol was followed, no Endo was requested. Thankfully I have my own prescribed emergency shots and had given myself one when I felt it coming earlier. Otherwise, these people could have very well let me die. When I finally came to and asked why the protocol for someone w Addison’s wasn’t followed they resulted to arrogance as a guise for their ignorance.

The facility is lovely and all pre- op staff was excellent. After admission, I could not find nurses regularly for pain meds or other needs. At one point after an hour and 45 minutes of multiple nurse calls, I had to stand in the middle of the nursing station YELLING, ‘Help’ for 5 minutes before anyone came. Nurses are short tempered and not easy to understand. I would not recommend being admitted here.

I will never go back to this hospital. I am very pregnant and very ill with norovirus in the ED yesterday. I waited for hours, throwing up in my own basin in the lobby, where they had broken vending machines and no working source of water, and the staff were not just incompetent but extraordinarily rude. A little compassion goes a long way when people are suffering. When I finally made it to a room I could hear nasty comments from Nursing staff made about various patients. I work in public health and healthcare, particularly emergency preparedness and I was so saddened by my experience. Atrocious. I will be filing my concerns and reaching out to who I can to raise awareness. I do not recommend this place. It made the experience worse being there.

I had an outpatient surgical procedure at Sibley and while this was my first surgery ever and therefore I don't have much else to compare it to--I couldn't have asked for a better first surgery experience. All of the practitioners I interacted with, including my surgeon and the anesthesiologist, explained everything thoroughly, and the various nurses who were with me during pre-op, OR, and post-op/recovery were so kind and helpful. (Shout-out to Belinda, Cat, and Katie! And I'm sorry that the names of the OR nurse and nurse anesthetist have totally escaped me!) My family members who were waiting during my surgery also found the waiting room very comfortable and my mother felt informed and reassured by the status board that displayed progress by patient number and the periodic text updates she got letting her know that my surgery was going well. (My mother *has* had several surgeries at other hospitals and remarked how nice Sibley was and how efficient their processes were.)

This place has terrible management! My friend was scheduled for discharge at 330pm and it's 1030pm and the doctor had left for the day without communicating with staff. They failed to provide the proper medication needed post surgery and made us go and fetch it late at night after leaving. Avoid this place if you need medical help.

Thank You JACK! You saw I needed extra help and went above and beyond to make sure I was good. Most people would not help the way you did. I know you exceeded the typical routine and helped me out of the kindness of your heart! We need people ppl like you in this world!

This is my first time here and I gotta say I really appreciate Dayna for genuinely welcoming me and taking care of me upon check-in. I even witnessed Dayna get up from her chair and walk over to a lady in a wheelchair to put the wrist band on her and then guided her. Then I saw another lady laughing and enjoying her conversation with Dayna. I just had to point all this out bc it is rare to have the first person at the E.R have so much patience and great energy in a place where the majority of the people (patients) are mourning and expressing their pain, Dayna somehow was able to spread some positive energy in the waiting room. Thank You Dayna! I also appreciate Vicky for not just being a nurse but a nurse who genuinely cares. In a time of distress Vicky was able to get me to crack a smile and enjoy my time here as well which is uncommon for an e.r experience. I was also taken care of by Mark who also shared the same great positive energy that Dayna and Vicky shared. I got lost at one point and Mark took the initiative to actually walk with me since he was heading in a similar direction and pointed out my destination as we parted ways. The people here make the biggest difference. I truly appreciate everyone who helped me today. Thank You! -Ra

I would like to say that the staff at Sibley Hospital were really nice and helpful throughout my cancer treatments during the past few weeks. I’ll admit it was rough going at first but I got through it. Thanks Sibley, you’re simply the best.

I will never have an issue with being treated in a teaching hospital. I just need to be given privacy regardless of my multiple health issues . I understand there was an opportunity for the MD PhDs to teach medical students. The visits by docs who were no part of my treatment and care was unnecessary. I'm sure no one meant to do this but please keep this in mind. My nurse Jessie was wonderful. She adapted quickly to all setbacks. She also made sure to address all my concerns. I never felt like I was waiting too long for any of my treatment.

My husband was a patient at Sibley this summer-came in through the ER and then was admitted for several days for antibiotic IV. He didn't have many good things to say about this whole Johns Hopkins experience but made a point of saying specifically that it was the worse food he ever ate and the worst bed he ever slept in. Since his release we have of course like most people have had to deal with some subsequent bills but I must tell whoever does the billing for Johns Hopkins is TERRIBLE! They have things like the operating room and recovery room on the bill and he didn't even have those services while hospitalized. And there are charges for thousands of dollars for those services with no dates included. What is going on with this place!! (Two stars because he was one of the lucky ones who didn't have to wait too long before being helped in ER and they were nice in the ER!)

The staff at Sibley (especially 7west, the psych department) are some of the best people I‘ve ever met but how the hospital handles you once you are out is cruel & unethical. TLDR; I was involuntarily committed under false pretenses & now owe $4,000 without any of the discharge resources I was promised. I was involuntarily committed to 7west. They tout themselves as only being voluntarily. This is not true. The woman at the ER said “you can either go voluntarily or we can call the police, which would be ugly, & you’ll go anyway.” I told her I couldn’t afford it & she assured me it would only be $15, showing me on her screen that that is all I would owe. My actual time at 7west was great. The nurses are amazing. It was very healing. I was promised they would set me up with a therapist & a dietician upon discharge. This did not happen. I was prescribed two medications I did not know anything about & 2 months later, still no referral. I called the number listed, which should have been for the manager Ivy. Someone from an entirely different department picked up to tell me that, on my discharge plan, it literally just said “call your insurance.” It’s been 3 months. I paid the $15 & I have just received a bill for $4,000. I cannot pay $4,000 & I told them that but they said the same thing, call your insurance but this is what you owe. I was not given a choice. I missed work because they told me I could not leave. For a week, I was not allowed to use plastic knives. Then I’m pushed out to set up everything they said they would & also I owe $4,000??? Y’all are unethical.

Sublet Hospital is really ghetto and there staff and security is really bad. The security there some of them wear masks and others don’t wear masks. I would never entrust my care again or I will never go back to sibley again. Maddalan cooper Director of Security is extremely rude and not helpful at all. They contribute to Not making Sibley hospital a friendly safe environment and they are representing sibley in a unprofessional way and manner. Nerves go to sibley.

I just randomly decided to read the reviews and it’s sad that 8 years later this hospital it still trash. I had my first child at Sibley. I was having serious contractions and I was a couple days past my due date so we decided to head there super excited that it was time to meet our baby boy. When we arrived, they were only concerned about “if my doctor told me If I should come in” and when I said no they said I should go back home. My mom begged them to induce me because we knew it was time and I literally lived about 30 minutes away. The last thing I wanted to do was have my baby at home. I stayed, they induced me and I had my child. My boyfriend wanted to record the birth of my child and they told him he couldn’t. After giving birth I had to use the bathroom and the nurse was supposed to help me (from what I heard after sharing this story) because I had an epidural. She did nothing to help me but stand there and I collapsed in the bathroom and she then rushed to help me up. She couldn’t stop apologizing but I was still appalled. On my Sons first visit to the pediatrician she informed us that The doctor did a terrible job on his circumsicion and he has to get it redone so he went through all that pain as a new born for NOTHING. I’m still debating if I want to put him through that pain again :( or just have him decide on his own if he wants to get the surgery when he’s older. I can literally go on and on. Because of my experience, I want no more children that was not a good first experience at all.

Serious lack of communication and coordination. It’s all sizzle and no steak. Looks like a hotel. Fancy color coded boards in surgery waiting area but it means nothing. You have to beg for information and then there isn’t any. Out of surgery at 10 am and still waiting for a bed at 3 pm. Understandably, due to COVID you can’t go to the recovery area but have the courtesy to say that beds are like gold dust and so family members can leave for a few hours and come back. Steer clear of the cafeteria. Food is mediocre at best and cold. Very disappointed with everything except the surgeon.

I had surgery recently at Sibley, and was supposed to go home. It turned out to be more complicated surgery and I had to spend three nights in the hospital. I’m so glad that, under the circumstances, Sibley was there for me. Compared to other local hospitals, Sibley is superior to all in my experience. Without exception I was treated with professional courtesy by everyone. All requests and needs were addressed timely. Pain control was managed very well. I had full confidence that if an emergency came up, they could handle it. There was never any doubt of cleanliness, which is essential. Having a spacious and convenient private room to rest quietly in, then to move freely in, get washed up in privacy, and be free from the noises, smells, and utterances of roommates and their visitors-such a treat! (If you have ever started vomiting because the roommate on the other side of the curtain was doing so, you know what I mean.) Well done Sibley, and thanks! I would say I’ll be back, but I hope not, haha.

I gave birth to my daughter here a few weeks ago. Sibley staff treated me so well and were all so caring. Special shoutout to my L&D nurse, Lana. From the moment I arrived to triage, she answered all my questions and made me feel so comfortable. I’m so very thankful to have had her. My postpartum care and nurses were also great. They were thorough, responsive, and very kind. Food was great, especially for a hospital. Staff came to clean and restock everyday. I’ve been healing great and haven’t experienced any complications since. Thank you Sibley for a beautiful experience.

The Staff at Sibley were literally top tier! Claudia Peng was absolutely amazing before and during labor. She encouraged me and made me feel so safe and strong even when I doubted myself! Imani thank you ! You made sure I was straight the entire time even when I came back after having high blood pressure days after leaving. Marie-Sophie, you're literally golden. Thank you for taking such great care of me. Sofia in Postpartum, thank you for all your help during my stay. I wish I can remember every one's name but Lisa, and the rest of the nurses who made sure I was okay from beginning to end - thank you ! Last but surely not least, Dr BECKERMAN of FOXHALL OBGYN, you came in and stole the show and delivered my beautiful baby. Thank you for the laughs and making me feel sure of myself. I could not have had a more beautiful birthing experience. If you are pregnant or gonna get pregnant I highly recommend Sibley Memorial Labor and Delivery!
