I'm a medical professional myself for an unaffiliated organization, and I chose this place be an inpatient for my rare disease. The nursing staff and other supporting disciplines for inpatients are incredibleā€”responsive, compassionate and encouragingā€”and most importantly, they take the time to treat each patient like an individual human. My specialty team is among, if not THE, most knowledgeable in the world about my condition. The amenities are excellent; I've been particularly enjoying the library, but there's also art, entertainment, a relaxation room, therapy animals, acupuncture and a host of other recreational activities to aid patients and/or families mentally and spiritually as they address their medical needs. Last but hardly least, it's highly rewarding knowing that while receiving such cutting edge care for myself, I'm also participating in research to optimize treatment for other patients in the future. I hope you and your family never need a place like this, but if you do, this is the place to be.

They saved my life. I was being discharged from a local hospital in Florida when i heard of the trial here. They flew me up within two days and continued treatment for 6.5 weeks I'm forever grateful

If someone gives less then āāāāā something is wrong. This is the best resort, I mean hospital I have ever been to. Like, omg, its unreal. The staff is amazing. The doctors are exceptional. The food is on point. The facility is breathtaking. My only complaint is, its way too big f u are a patient. I love it but I got lost soooo many times but there was always someone there to put me back on track. Wish there was more governmental fynding ding for the endocrine department and Cushings research. Other then that. The only thing that would make this place better is to add Mediterranean food to the menu and put in a bowling aleey. Lol.other then that I love it.

It is listed here as a hospital which is open 24 hours. Beware, it is not! As we drove up to the gate with a medical emergency (severe dog bite), the lady which answered the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she claimed that she was the supervisor, and made it clear (in a passive aggressive way) that she was not interested in updating the research center's description online. Do not go here if you need to get to a hospital! Misleading description.

Scheduled a blood donation. I was never sent the email with the follow-up information to access the donation site. Called back back spoke with the supervisor he assured me the email would be sent and it never was sent if you'd like to donate blood consider somewhere else

Warning to visitors, particularly out of state visitors: Even if you are a conceal carry holder, the NIH police will steal your firearms and throw you in jail if you legally have a firearm in your vehicle when you approach the gate. They don't even ask if you have anything. They just start searching through your vehicle and will not allow you to leave. After they release you from confinement, you will be forced to make multiple trips back to the area to appear before a federal judge. At the end of the process, they still don't return the property that they stole. They do this to people on a daily basis, sometimes to multiple people in a day. You've been warned.

The people at NIH are THE BEST at human-ing! Kindest people I have ever have the good fortune to meet and receive care from! I still can't get over the woman at the Information Desk who directed me when I needed to get my badge. She walked past me a day later and said "HI THERE SWEETIE! Did you get your badge?" And then a man who directed me to the right shuttle to access Metro. He saw me walk in after returning and gave me the thumbs up. It was maybe three hours later, but he remembered. The shuttle drivers! SO NICE, and I loved chatting with them. Whenever I got lost, someone would walk me to the destination. I mean, WHAT? Is this real life? The MRI dudes were incredibly patient with my stupid Chiari neck and helped me MacGyver a solution that kept me comfortable through a very long MRI -- yay! The nurses and doctors who I saw for the study I am participating in were just so sweet and frank with me. I wish ALL hospitals were like this one! Healthcare would be a little less scary. Huge fan of NIH!

You don't have enough stars for these people! During the shut down I was being seen by the NCI staff, I had multiple tests done and was treated like a queen! I have been goint ot this facility since 1999 and have never had a problem with medical staff! Thank you Julia Friend for always taking my calls ,Cris Leete for being such a wonderful reseach nurse and Dr. Metwalli for being an awsome surgeon! Taking out my cancer and levaing my kidneys and them still working 50/50 through your talent ande Gods grace. I also see many other doctors and staff at NIH and they are all execptional.

The most unorganized, time consuming, waste of time, & LOWEST PAID Iā€™ve ever screened for! Iā€™ve done plenty of research/ clinical research trials from here to CA & back. This place pays the LOWEST & the only 1 that wonā€™t tell u how long ur screening is. I spent 7 hours of my day here when all other screenings are never over 3 hours for a wack $170! I spoke w/Jessica, 1 of the recruiters that was scheduling for an alcohol study that scheduled my screening back in Nov. After 3 months past & I didnā€™t hear anything back about whether Iā€™m in the study or not I called her. She told me they didnā€™t select me & thatā€™s why I didnā€™t hear anything back. How unprofessional! Iā€™ve never heard any other facility do this! Any org., co., Job, business, or clinical trial you apply for, they will call, email, or send a letter saying THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, but we werenā€™t able to select u. That would be professional!Just driving to this place is a freaking circus! Itā€™s a govt. building &they search throughout ur car, take your stuff out, you have exit ur vehicle, put your belongings through the X-ray machine like the airport, then walk through a gun detector monitor, etc. I also learned from others(not my experience ) that You can have a registered weapon thatā€™s legal, but youā€™ll get arrested if you have 1 in ur car when you drive up. Medical marijuana is legal in MD, but ppl have been arrested if itā€™s found in your car or in your possession on this govt. property

the only organization in the pharmacy of the clinical center is what time to report to work. other than that, there are no distinct roles or jobs/responsibilities - just a "get a done" attitude. during huddles, the Service Chief of Pharmacy Operations (wafa samara) threw medications on the floor claiming they were expired (they were not), told the pharmacy if we continue making any mistakes or get a error reported by us she will write us up and escalate to HR, and that she was so upset by the pharmacy that she "would not even take her sick mother here." the Chief of the Pharmacy Department (majid tanas) was made aware and did absolutely nothing. management claims to have an open door policy, but all managers doors are locked with papers taped to windows of their doors. they do not open the door when you knock or call their phone. they also allowed pharmacists that they had a particular relationship with to work m-f 7am-3:30p, with no weekends or holidays while the rest had to fill in the gaps on the schedule. very toxic environment, would not recommend. 13 pharmacy personnel left within a six month period. please google nih pharmacy washington post. also, parking is horrible - be prepared to pay $12/day - that is unless you were favorited by management and received a parking pass.

You will not find better care than at the NIH Clinical Center! My mother had surgery here in November and it was just a phenomenal experience from start to finish. The doctors, nurses, staff - everyone was compassionate, knowledgable and reassuring. After about 10 days, mom left with 20 less tumors in her liver and a new outlook on life. Thank you to all at the center for what you do!

I have been a Clinical Research Patient at the NIH since 2010. I am truly Grateful for the Dedicated NIH Doctors, Researchers and Staff. The NIH is the most advanced medical research facility. The care and concern that I have received at the NIH is very heartwarming. Thank you for your medical expertise and continued care.

Recently had a chance to be a visitor at NIH. Very neat place, friendly staff, they have lots of volunteers coming everyday for research purpose, I'm surprised to see it functions almost like a hospital.

šŸ˜  My entire experience at the ER was fairly terrible, but my 1 star review is based on one interaction, which was very inappropriate. I was brought back to have my blood drawn, the nurse was not wearing gloves and touched a ton of stuff. She then went to draw my blood. She didnā€™t sanitize her hands no...
