UPDATE: My grandmother had to be admitted via ambulance. Do you think the second time dealing with this hospital was better? Absolutely NOT. The nurse was snippy and rude. She wasn't paying attention to what she was doing and yanked my 86 year old grandmother by her nose with the air tube. This time I will be talking to hospital management because they are truly and seriously a danger to this community. I came to this hospital in a very vulnerable state. The FEMALE nurses in the emergency room and the "so called crisis person" was EXTREMELY RUDE TO ME. The crisis person told me that I was in crisis and had to forcibly be admitted all while chuckling in my face! The emergency room nurses seemed more interested in their conversations and their shift ending than being decent human beings. They LIED TO MY FAMILY about my condition, said that I could have no visitors, all while telling me that nobody has called to check on me, nobody has come by. If I was in a mental crisis and needed to be admitted to the hospital, why do you think LYING TO ME AND MY FAMILY is the best course of action? I wish I knew all of their names. I want to stress again that it was the FEMALE NURSES. The male nurses were actually pleasant and helpful and finally let me call someone. Shame on these soulless cows!

My entire experience at the ER was fairly terrible, but my 1 star review is based on one interaction, which was very inappropriate. I was brought back to have my blood drawn, the nurse was not wearing gloves and touched a ton of stuff. She then went to draw my blood. She didnā€™t sanitize her hands nor was she wearing gloves. When she went to stick me I asked her if she would put on gloves and she told me to stay still and stuck me before I could move my arm or say anything else. It then clicked with her that she didnā€™t have on gloves and she put them on after she had already stuck me. How am I supposed to know her hands were clean? I also made her aware of my concerns and she ignored me and went against my concerns. There is no way itā€™s proper protocol to draw blood on a patient without gloves as itā€™s unsafe for the patient and the person drawing the blood. It made me incredibly uncomfortable.

Hands down the WORST hospital. The ambulance guy forced me against my will to go to hospital with zero injuries. He was rude, and was looking for a reason to find drugs and alcohol in my system which he never did. FAIL! Nice try. They also forcefully took my dog without giving me a phone call to get him picked up and sent him to the pound. When arriving at hospital, I was fully capable of taking off my shirt to change into a gown but the male nurse cut my shirt and took off my clothes and I was fully undressed and exposed. It was the most terrifying and traumatic experience I had. EVERY staff was rude and was talking and laughing for almost an hour before I was able to get a gown and they literally threw 2 blankets at me to ā€œcover upā€. I have never heard of a hospital being so disrespectful and leaving a patient that was forced against her will naked for everyone to see. Never go to this hospital! They do not care and will strip you down and take all your pride and ego and leave you feeling worthless, vulnerable, and physically exposed

Took my child here after injuring her knee in basketball and not being able to walk. This was the worst place to take a child to be seen. It is a very small pediatric ward and they do not much space to keep the children comfortable. The nurses walk right by you without concern or attention. We were in the ped for 4 hours and no one offered her ice for her knee or any kind of comfort for her pain. She was so uncomfortable. After 4 hours we found out the radiologist left and was reading the x rays remote. We left worse than we came in with an overpriced knee immobilizer and overpriced crutches.

Came here after my doctor recommended I go to the ER for severe abdominal pain. Despite my request for up-front pricing I was told inaccurate numbers. My treatment consisted of some basic blood work and sitting for hours waiting for a CT scan. Total cost $1400. They will send you letters and try to get blood out of a stone. Do not go here unless you are dying or in a life threatening condition and expect to be taken advantage of and to wait for hours even once taken into the treatment area. They are a bunch of thieves.

My first emergency room visit in my 25 years of living I left the hospital around 9:30pm I arrived at almost 4pm wasn't many people there when I arrived mainly visitors. Staff was nice from what I experienced. Very cold but That is expected request a warm blanket and your good! Wait time could've been worse but I had patience and I really wanted to be seen so it was worth it now I have a piece of mind. I'm not sure the difference in waiting areas but I was inside the glass area and not the lobby part I guess it all depends on what your being seen for. Overall it was a good first hospital experience for me. I will return.

I got taken here for a pain in my back that was so bad I literally couldn't walk, talk, or breath (1000x worse than any surgery or fracture). While waiting for the doctor, I was given a bed pain to relieve myself in and the pain was suddenly bearable enough where I could sit up and say short sentences (HINT HINT HINT!!). The doctor then came in, talked to me for a few seconds, and left. I was given ibuprofen pills, and prescription for ibuprofen, and sent home. I was very confused at the lack of care. I remember thinking "That's it?" Within just a few hours of returning home, the pain returned and I started vomiting so was rushed to another hospital. At the other ER, they immediately gave me pain medicine (real pain meds, not ibuprofen pills) and ordered tests. The scans showed a blocked ureter due to a large kidney stone so pressure was building up in my kidney. I also had a urinary tract infection. Ended up needing surgery to remove it and have a stent placed. I always asked myself: Why didn't Suburban Hospital treat my 10/10 pain accordingly? Order a scan? Do a urine? Recognize the textbook symptoms of kidney stones (like severe back pain that magically decreases after urination)? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

I rarely write bad reviews, particularly of a place where I used to attend/consult as an infectious Diseases physician. As a patient, I felt better care could have been done in the way I was treated. Fortunately, my follow up with my PCP through Hopkins Medicine was much better!

Great hospital, but they need to use a different collection agency. I paid my bill the day I got it and still ended up having to spend hours dealing with them. They sent the same (sternly worded) bill to both me and my insurance, collected payment from both, then tried to pocket the extra money before anyone realized. No one reached out saying they had collected double the amount I owed, and they made it as difficult as possible to get my money back. They tried to steal about a thousand dollars, not a trivial amount. If it werenā€™t for the scummy way they bill people, I would leave 5 stars.

One star for two unbelievable nasty nurses in the emergency wing. I have debilitating pain problems and accidentally took too much of a medication over the course of 14 hours and started feeling strange. After a quick conversation with poison control, went to the hospital to make sure I didnā€™t do any lasting damage. The nurse that interviewed me didnā€™t understand the situation and tersely demanded me to ā€œtell the truthā€ about attempting to commit suicide. I was shocked by this and tried to explain again my situation with chronic pain, but she sent me away and assigned a suicide watch nurse to my emergency station. It took five minutes for the second nurse to see that I wasnā€™t a suicide risk and left. The doctor came and completely understood what had happened and commented that it was ā€œweirdā€ that I was treated so badly by the check in nurse. What capped it all off and what prompted this reviewā€¦I was in the ER until the evening, when the nurses gather for some kind of group meeting to discuss patients. They do this in the middle of the ER and all thatā€™s separating them from the patients are thin curtains. They briefly talk about all the patients and then they get to me. No idea what I did to this second nurse, but she starts loudly making fun of me for ā€œoverdosingā€. Her comments include, ā€œIt was an accident.ā€ *laugh* ā€œAt least thatā€™s what she *says*. Maybe ā€˜donā€™tā€™ take more than the recommended dose? I could have told her that. Sheā€™s either dumb or lying.ā€ Yeahā€¦ Lucky I *wasnā€™t* a suicide risk, because after that unbelievable display of ā€œbedside mannerā€ that would certainly trigger a patient in an emotional crisis. I regret not getting up and saying something then, but Iā€™m saying it now. TRAIN. YOUR. STAFF. I donā€™t care how you feel about a patient. You DONā€™T make fun of their predicament while on the job let alone IN FRONT OF THEM. Shameful, shameful behavior from people who are supposed to save lives.

Iā€™d like to know how/why Suburban Hospital has the audacity to charge $12 for a several hour parking permit for visitors who come to see their friends/loved ones. There is essentially no way other than via automobile to access the hospital. None. And with all of the big names on the Patrons Wall, one might think that some of that old money might just be applied to offset whatever it costs to maintain this garage. Just because the hospital is located in Montgomery County shouldnā€™t give it carte Blanche to add insult to injury (pun intended) and fleece its caring visitors. Many simply canā€™t easily meet these fees.

My mom was sent here immediately after she gotten into a car accident. The physicians in the ER and ICU got her conditions under control expediently. Mom recovered well enough to be transferred to rehabilitation hospital after 45 days. I was able to follow my mother's condition at all times with readily updates and daily calls. I am very grateful to the surgeons, physicians, nurses and staff, who are all competent, professional, and helpful to my mother and me.

The floor nurses and the overall medical knowledge at this hospital are 5-star quality. However, the ED techs and the majority of doctors (including specialists) have treated me very poorly as a matter of course over multiple visits. My medical needs were taken care of, but communication about my conditions and my medicine was abysmal, my questions were answered disrespectfully, and any discomfort for which I requested help was dismissed.

I took my mother in law to the ER with severe pain, and we were treated incredibly well by the entire staff for three days. We felt that everyone - from the MRI and X-ray techs, to the nurses, to the physicians, and the volunteers at the waiting area, were dedicated to helping her figure out what was wrong and help her get better. We are very thankful to the Suburban ER staff and to the team on the 6th floor who continued to care for her gently and listen to her concerns. They treated us as a family unit and made sure her children and grandchildren understood what the treatment goals were. We are thankful to Suburban (including the cafe and housekeeping staff) for their great care.

My dad works here for about 19yrs now and he got ill on the job - low HR with bundle branch block... when I came to visit him in the ER, staff was rude from the entrance telling me how long they worked here and that rules have not changed about bringing a baby to see him. God forbid nothing happens as he wished to his is grandson one more time. Then the night nurse Celia is what she stated her name was when I asked her twice, was also rude when she came in, no introduction or who she is. Telling my dad that he needs to download the app to get all your info. I mean he's in it's mid 70's, yes he works there but not everyone is tech savvy, he just wanted a print out of his results. I asked to speak with the charge nurse, who came in with papers at least but did not acknowledge me, did not introduce herself, spoke to my dad cuz she knows him but he didn't know her. When I asked questions she did not even make eye contact with me. My dad kept telling her this is my daughter and to speak with me. Finally, I asked someone else for her name which is Lauren. I work in an ER for 12yrs and in a hospital setting 20 yrs, what I've learned from a very young age as an RN, mid-wife, and now a consultant teaching my staff in 22 departments over 100s of staff for a multi-billion organization is to show respect, take care with compassion, and kindness, etc. These people were up tight and rude, like they hate their job... I didn't even tell them my background then I wouldn't know who they truly are. It is a shame Suburban Hospital ER.. bringing the whole Johns Hopkins name down. Do better nurses I feel bad especially during recognizing nurses week ..

I used to love this hospital, but after my mom (an elderly patient) was admitted for COVID, the experience was completely different than times past. The nurses were rude, doctor was also rude. My mother says that they were okay, but that was not the family's experience. They didn't like us calling to ask for things that our mother needed. The doctor would call with updates, but didn't like being asked any questions. She was short and had an attitude. We will never be going back to this hospital.

I was completely disrespected, disregarded, and tossed aside at this hospital. Whenever I tried to express my concerns about physical pain that I felt, the doctors and technicians chose to ignore my comments. My patient report is full of "quotes" that I never said during my time there. Doctors and nurses in the ER ward failed to take my blood after SEVEN TRIES even after puncturing BOTH of my wrists and arms. The nurses SQUEEZED my wrists like they were wringing a towel to try to get blood to flow for the test. When I asked for my meal and water, my request was ignored for hours. This left me, an ill patient, hungry and thirsty for hours as I waited for one of the nurses to supply me with basic life necessities. When I finally received my meal, the milk I was given was spoiled and thick. I spit it out after trying to consume it. I'm assuming my beverage was left unrefrigerated for hours on end. I have countless occasions in which the medical staff treated me poorly. When I struggled to pick up objects due to physical pain, my nurse said, "Just pick it up already. What's wrong with you?" I wrote down a comprehensive list of things I planned to discuss with my doctor when I saw them. When I brought up these comments, the doctor told me that all of them were invalid and that my concerns were not worth discussing. I was genuinely shocked. Suburban truly needs improvement. I'd recommend going to Georgetown Hospital for your needs. Save yourself the hardship and trouble.

Worst experience. I went there due to urine flow issue after a surgery, I had to wait 4 hours after registration to get the care. They even do not do a primary screening to assess the seriousness before putting to wait and enqueue the patients based on the seriousness ... I even noticed who registered after me got care before me. There was a small room , and an expandable chair , a nurse asked to sit on the chair, and expanded the chair, and I was about to fall, after that she inserted catheter from that chair... just after 2 minutes she got instruction to move me to a room. I had to take lot of effort to switch to another wheel chair to move me to the Emergency Room. They did nothing from there just monitored few minutes and sent me to my house, I don't know still why they moved me to the special room after doing all circus from an expandable chair. I still believe, it is for charging the insurance unnecessarily. But unfortunately my insurance was low insurance and I had to pay higher bill.

In Nov 2021, my son age 22 was in a life threatening motor vehicle accident. He was rushed to Suburban hospital. We were in this hospital from November 2021 until February 2022. The level of love, support, compassion, professionalism that myself, son and family received from staff was remarkable. Every surgeon, doctor, nurse, technician, custodial, Clergy, security, administration, PT, OT, SP, social work, kitchen staff etc showed us overwhelming daily support. This hospital saved my sonā€™s life!! Suburban hospital staff are my family. Thank you from my soul to all who saved my sonā€™s life and continues to support us on his road to recovery. I write this review with tears in my eyes because I am very grateful to Suburban hospital. #1 hospital šŸ„ Thank you, Princess & Javier Roman

My child has been seen several times and the wait time is always less than 5 minutes and the office and doctors are wonderful. We are Japanese, so they have an interpreter and are very thorough in their explanations. Thank you to all the staff for providing top quality service in a very busy environment.

While it is true that some technicians and nurses may lack the necessary skills to install IV sets, there are still experienced senior nurses, particularly in the transition room, who should be appreciated for their expertise. Additionally, there are doctors like Isabel Pimenta and Brendan Carmody who display a high level of curiosity and genuine concern for their patients, often going above and beyond to ensure their well-being.

Doctors who do not listen to the patient. When things go wrong they scramble to try and do things right to make up for the things done wrong at the expense of the patient.

Father had major 6 hr spine surgery and the doc (Hassanzadeh) was excellent and has warm caring demeanor, very approachable, open to questions and no BS in the answers-Very polite and professional; loved him. The cafeteria is undergoing improvements but itā€™s clean and open and visitors can order from a touch screen in the cafeteria or they can use Grubhub app to order from cafeteria (or outside vendors), which was pretty convenient. Also there is a small cafe that serves specialty coffees, pastry, to-go sandwiches, a few snacks and bottled drinks. The first day I was visiting my father there, I was looking around the cafeteria trying to figure out how it works and a nurse was getting her breakfast -she went out her way to show me the touch screens and tell me how it works - I didnā€™t even ask! The Front guard, cafeteria staff, general support staff were all polite and helpful. The Anesthesiologist and CRNA were nice and thorough and seemed well informed of the patient. During his surgery they have a texting update every hour as well as monitors in the waiting area and cafeteria that give the patient status (they are assigned / identified by a patient number to protect identity). We did have a small wait after surgery for him to get a room but it wasnā€™t a problem and he just stayed in the recovery area. All the nurses we had throughout the stay were more than polite, they were nice. Impressively he was given a large single room with a private bathroom the day after surgery and I had a small loveseat and plenty of room to stretch out, do work on my laptop, store our duffle/ backpack/ tote. 2 extra folding chairs in the room, a recliner for patient, and a mini fridge!!!!!!! So I could put drinks, fruit cup, leftover lunch stuff in there. There was a large window and everything was clean. Our room had a ~40 in touchscreen monitor (in addition to a flat screen) that listed attending nurses, assistants, care staff, physical therapist, last pain meds and next time they were due, preferred contact person and phone #, diet restrictions, hearing restrictions, fall risk, last pain score reported by patient, fall risk, level of assistance needed, recommended activity level, and all current pain meds being taken/given. This blew my mind!!!- in a good way. Sometimes in other hospitals there are so many people that come into the room and you get the feeling they gleaned over the patient chart but donā€™t know whatā€™s going on- that was not the case here. It was comforting for me to have access to all that info as well bc the patients are usually tired, cranky, drugged up on pain meds, canā€™t hear or canā€™t see that far, and donā€™t know whatā€™s going on exactly or who their nurse is, etc. The head nurse in charge came an introduced herself and gave a card with her number on it (this is in addition to the head nurse under her, and attending nurses.) there was a housekeeper, Roxanne, who went wayyyyy above and beyond - she mopped the floor, sanitized ALL things in the room (counters, computer that nurses use, IV equipment, bed rails, closet door, bathroom, side table) ā€”- I mean holy cow- that is amazing! Iā€™ve never seen that before but it makes so much sense! She really thinks about her job and whatā€™s best for the patient! Honestly, this was the best in-patient, multi day (5 days) hospital experience my father (patient) and I (visitor for 8+ hours a day) have had. I, myself, am a medical provider and so I canā€™t help but pay attention to these things, esp when the patient is my dear father. Lastly, most of the hospital has large windows/ skylights and an open and light feel. Ps- my father said it was the quietest hospital heā€™s been in - another nice thing. Thank you to everyone at Suburban hospital.

I'm giving the hospital a 1 simply because of the outrageous charges for the ER services. I took my husband to the ER for a kidney stone. He literally sat in the ER waiting room and never actually got a bed in their ER. They performed imaging, blood work and gave him medication but just waited in their waiting room. They billed close to $1000 (high deductible). He saw the doctor for something like 5 minutes. I can see the charges for blood work and imaging but approximately $500 for medical services. What medical services? They charged him while he sat in their waiting room. Price gouging at its finest.

I can not begin to express the gratitude I have towards this hospital and their staff. My wife and I both unfortunately had severe emergency injuries over the last few months and this being our closest local hospital went to the ER here. In both cases not only were we seen fairly quickly (which I know can depend on the day, but they really do seem to have good systems in place) but we were also met by a caring and knowledgeable staff who went above and beyond to see that our injuries were thoroughly researched before providing outstanding surgical referrals. In my wifeā€™s case she had to be admitted for a few days before having surgery at the hospital and the care she received was nothing short of outstanding top to bottom. So while none of us ever want to have to go to the hospital, if circumstances dictate the need I can think of no other place Iā€™d rather be taken than Suburban!

After a horrible experience at a different hospital, I desperately came here looking for help because my sons asthma was beginning to take a bad turn, I arrived and explained what happened at the previous hospital and they were appalled, they wasted 0 time getting my child into a room and on breathing treatment. I had tears of relief from how amazing the doctor and nurse were and they truly truly cared for my sons health. This will be the only ER I ever attend again if need be. Thank you so much to the nurses and doctors and staff for making us feel safe and comfortable in a time of distressā€¦ I would give them 10 stars if I could ā¤ļø

I went to the Emergency Department at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. When I reached the receptionist desk for the ER department and told them the reason why I needed to be seen with my wife. The receptionist then told me along with a nurse who took my vitals that they do not allow visitors due to covid. Throughout the whole conversation, I had to have them repeat because I am hard of hearing. Completely deaf in my left ear and only particle hearing in my right ear, hence why my wife needed to be with me. They told me that I needed to have an "ADA CARD" over and over again. Now I know for a fact I do NOT need an ADA card because there is no such thing. I even contacted the ADA 1-800 number and they confirmed that I do NOT need an "ada" card. I contacted the Department of Justice as well and they confirm the same thing. My attending Nurse last name Parker said quite LOUD for everyone to hear and I quote "Oh I didn't know you had a visitor and we don't allow them by the way". I told her well I am hard of hearing and I need her (my wife) to repeat what is being said. Nurse Parker then told me "well you hear me just fine now don't you." I am shocked and appalled by my treatment. Clearly sensitivity training did not do well with the Emergency staff at Suburban Hospital. I understand these are hard times but that is no excuse to treat me and my wife like we are idiots! Am I to disclose my disabilities and to be accused as if I am lying? No.

Came into the trauma center of this hospital from a very serious motorcycle accidentā€¦ the reason for the one star was the uncaring atmosphere and very superficial look through of our injuriesā€¦told us we were both fine and just ā€œneeded restā€ and discharged us within 2 hours with no pain medication or plans of treatmentā€¦ we both ended up back in the hospital (a different one thank god) a day later, who made us aware of very serious fractures, torn tissue, internal bleeding, a severely painful hematoma and that we would both need physical therapy. To send two people out of the hospital with such crucial injuries after entering as trauma patients is insane and disgusting! You might as well only go if youā€™re on your last breath and even then I doubt they would do a thorough enough job!! The only thing they seemed to be worried about was that I wasnā€™t found in the waiting room because I wanted to stay by my seriously hurt boyfriendā€™s bed. Get your priorities in order!!!

I took an elderly friend there last night. She was seen relatively quickly. Once in the ER the staff was friendly and efficient. Dr. Kring was kind and thorough. He checked in on her himself several times. The nurse Crystal was also kind, helpful, attentive, and patient. A few others were involved in her care, all very nice and helpful. Considering the reason we were there, they did a huge workup in a much shorter time than we expected based on previous experiences elsewhere. My friend also said it was the best MRI she's ever had, lol. Much quieter and smoother than others. MRI guy, Scott, shout out to you too. This 90 year old lady I took there has been around and she said multiple times how impressed and pleased she was with her experience.

Complete lack of communication and no customer/patient service orientation. My family member was taken to the ER department due to a car accident unable to move and at pain level 10. The ER department took images (x-rays and CT scans). When we asked the ER nurse for a digital copy (nicely) or at a minimum be able to take a picture of it from our cell phone (again nicely and with patience). He refused gruffly and literally walked away from us and told us to talk to the head nurse. The head nurse never came. Patients have rights to their diagnostic tests, don't let anyone tell you it is a HIPAA violation. After being admitted and having been in the hospital for 20 hours we still had not had an initial conversation with the ortho specialists. Instead the trauma physician wrote up a plan for PT and didn't communicate the care plan to us. And this is for a patient who couldn't move their legs because of pain without screaming even with a lot of pain killers. And when the patient did scream the nurse scolded them. Around noon, at 21 hours in the hospital, we requested a transfer to a Level 1 trauma center. 9 hours later at 9pm we still had heard nothing about the transfer even though we had communicated with the receiving hospital's ortho specialist personally already. The nurse told us that we would probably hear something tomorrow morning. So we went home and then were notified by our patient at 1am that they were told that they would be move to the level 1 center soon. This unexpected and sudden/not communicated transfer caused extra hardship for the patient, other family member and me by keeping us up all night. To add insult to injury (pun intended) and top this all off when I went back to the ER with the insurance information the ER admin had requested a few days later, the ER front desk reception would not take it from me. And kept repeating like a broken record to fax it or email it with an "Its not my job to help you" attitude. Even though I (again politely) indicated to her the the ER admin had given this paper and asked me to return it.

The palliative care team was amazing! BUT Suburban runs like a community hospital. If you have anything complicated or that requires a specialty you are better off going to a different hospital. I took my father here and they did not have many specialty doctors in-house. We ended up going to Georgetown Hospital at the end and I have to say that was the best choice for us to go to Georgetown.

Terrible service. Overall staff was extremely neglectful. Nurse was unable to start an IV, just left. Complained patient needed an IV drip 2nd Nurse magically found one with little to no effort. Countless non emergency patients were seen prior to my Godfather whom was dehydrated shaking uncontrollable. Please people just because something is in a predominantly white community does not mean its right for us (African American). We will never be a priority to them.

The ER was pretty fast and the nurses and doctors were kind and good at their jobs. The procedures and facility were excellent too. Less importantly, the patient meals were amazing--the shrimp and huge fruit plates are so good!

Iā€™m from NJ and came to Maryland to visit but soon realized I wasnā€™t well and needed to go to the hospital. This was my first ever overnight hospital stay and I was terrified. Every staff member I encountered was delightful, made me feel so safe and supported, and even held my hand at some points. I canā€™t express how much that meant to me. I hope to never have to come back but if I do, I know Iā€™ll be well taken care of. Thank you all so much.

I am currently in patient at Suburban. I was admitted due to pain management post op. My surgeon had an extensive conversation with the team that I will need higher doses of medication due to what I take daily at home, and for how long Iā€™ve been on medications. When I was moved to the floor, they didnā€™t follow this and had me in low doses of everything. It took until 3pm the following day to see anesthesia and discuss pain management. Things were tweaked but not well. My surgeon finally called me and said meds were being added back in and upped to every 2 hours. During the day today, everything was great, my pain started to come down because of the regimen I was on. Then night nurses came on and wouldnā€™t even let me speak and just kept cutting me off saying ā€œnoā€, ā€œnoā€ ā€œnoā€. Iā€™ve requested to speak to the charge nurse or supervisor 3 Times and nobody has come. If there was a change to plan of care, I should have been informed. Iā€™ve also requested to speak to the PA and the night nurse said ā€œno itā€™s the weekendā€ but I thereā€™s obviously someone on call and sheā€™s refusing to let me speak to them and therefore my need arenā€™t being met. Also, I have trauma surrounding needles. A few years ago, I met with hematology and oncology due to repeated blood clots. They said that after any surgery, I needed to be put on a prophylactic dose of xarelto. I was met with heparin (an injection), which i denied and asked for xarelto. I explained I have trauma around needles and the team was more willing to let me get a blood clot than give me heparin, stating that xarelto is too dangerous. I understood the consequences of xarelto and that is still what I wanted due to fear and trauma. It took about an hour of fighting to get the xarelto. During this time, the nurse pointed out to the nursing supervisor that I have a behavior note from a previous procedure (regarding needles and was overstimulated and anxious), yet they didnā€™t even know the full story and were using it against me. At one point I even called patient relations while in the hospital and they had me ask for the charge nurse who shows absolutely no empathy for what I was going through and didnā€™t want to fix the problem Additionally, I was initially given a pure wick to use the bathroom (external catheter) so I didnā€™t have to get up every 3 seconds to use the bathroom. It was never positioned right and I would get pee all over me. I would call for someone to come change me, and if a nurse came in, she would tell me I have to wait for the tech to come change meā€¦ leaving me in my own urine. The only good person I encountered during my stay was a PA named Steve. He actually seemed to listen to my concerns and be on my side regarding pain management and plan of care. I definitely will not be returning to Suburban as they treat everyone like itā€™s a one size fixes all approach. This has been my worst experience with a Hopkins hospital ever

Intake/patient registration was fast and the 2 ladies at the desk were nice and complimented me on my nails. Fast prompt service with not a lot of waiting. A nurse offered every one in the waiting room warm blankets and they wiped down each chair in between patients with disinfecting wipes. The staff was very easy going and pleasant overall no attitudes or lack of attention. Will definitely be back.

So my brother ended up hereā€¦.unfortunately due to a head trauma. The hospital staff told us after 2 CT scans he had a concussion, no fracture and just needed to rest. He then followed up with his primary after being discharged to find out he has a skull fracture. How does a hospital not provide this information to the family and patient? Itā€™s completely unacceptable. The diagnosis we were told was concussionā€¦.fracture of the skull was never presented. Please do better. Peopleā€™s lives are at stake and the costs we incur for health care are ridiculous. I would avoid this hospital and seek other options.

My family has never experienced such horrible treatment from any physician or hospital. My daughter had been admitted to a rehab facility for physical therapy. She was injured there and transferred to Suburban Hospital for treatment. Once she was stable, the discharge planners wanted to send her back to the facility where she had been injured. They insisted no other facility would accept her (insurance issue). When we objected to this, the physician advisor to the discharge planning department (her first name is Deidra, and last name sounds something like Silliers) descended on my daughter's room with 2 huge security guards and 4 other people. She told us an ambulance had been ordered and was coming to take our daughter back to the facility where she had been injured whether we liked it or not! With a person of such low moral character working there, you want to avoid this hospital if at all possible!

Today I brought an adult friend to the ED for admission & treatment of a chronic problem. After he was taken to the back, I received a call (on my cellphone) from someone elsewhere in the ED asking for his consent to be treated. Since no visitors are allowed beyond the reception area due to covid, I obviously could not ask him that question, and suggested that she call the ED and ask the nurse to ask him if he was consenting to being treated. 4 hours later I received a call at home again asking if he consented to being treated. Again the caller was told that he was in their hospital and needed to ask him. She said he'd been admitted, and I suggested that she call his room phone number (since, because of covid, she is not allowed into the room). I really don't understand how calling people 25 miles away to get consent from one of their own inpatients makes any sense. I realize covid is severely straining our hospitals & staff, but let's get some common sense into the mix

Itā€™s sad!!!!! my visit last month was much better than yesterday. My surgeon called and told me to visit the er and that the er was aware of my arrival. I literally sat 5 hours there in pain, got no results for any of the tests performed and was sent home. WTH was my point of being there?!?! On top of that they mixed the highly sick Covid patients with the rest of the other patients. So basically after surgery I came there just to get exposure. Just pathetic, this so frustrating and upsetting this was such a waste of my time .

Imagine having heart surgery....the rest and repair you would need after that surgery, especially the days following the surgery while in hospital ...now imagine finding out that the reason you can't rest , the reason you can't sleep, or think due to pain, is because you have been given Tylenol for the pain. Tylenol...I wish this was an imaginary story but it's very real. They tried to tell me that my mom asked to be given only tylenol for pain after her surgery. Please, what is going on with doctors. Do NO HARM.

Dr. Betty Dinarte Hadji was a horrible doctor. She is extremely rude and heartless. My visit with her was unbelievable!!! I am so traumatized after getting discharged. How can someone so evil work at a hospital like this??? I never eexperience nor came across a doctor like her. I donā€™t understand how sheā€™s even considered a doctor at Surburban hospital. Putting false treatment on a patient discharge papers is unacceptable and fraudulent. Please avoid this doctor!!!

My husband had port at hospital. There are issues with port and they said it is short. then they did PICC, but still has problems. The arm is swollen and painful. We were waiting in ER over 2 hours and still waiting. For this simple thing, we have been in the hospital for so many times. It is very disappointed.

Their last about two years ago two times in 10 days emergency took care of me right away. When I go to holy Cross because the ambulance wonā€™t go to suburban because Iā€™m in downtown Silver Spring. I can wait 3 to 4 hours for a doctor you can spend many many hours. I go for a certain treatment and then I come home. But I stayed overnight at suburban twice within 10 days.

I was admitted into the hospital for a few day. The staff and doctors were very nice and accommodating. Food was very good. The room they put me in had its own bathroom and tv (would have been nice if I could have casted to it). Wait times were sometimes long but that's to be expected.

The hospital staff and nurses are all legit! Five star quality but the kitchen and cafeteria staff is horrible! They have an attitude problem and lack communication skills required in a public space like a hospital! They take breaks without informing customers and they don't abide by the times they are supposed to open! Very sloppy and needs to be addressed immediately!

A wonderful ER, I came in with chest pain and the staff bought me back within 10 minutes and they triaged me as soon as I walked in the door. The physician was also in the room within 15-20 minutes after me being placed in a room. They took multiple tests and I donā€™t feel that they missed a beat. Overall I was there for 5 hours which was more than reasonable for the different tests they were running. Thank you. ā¤ļø

Cardioversion same day procedure 9/8. Covered parking. Check in to the right of entrance-smooth and efficient. Love that the dedicated elevator to the procedure room is right there. Pre-op nursing was great. Procedure nurse had an informative TLC meeting before I was taken back. Post-op nurse, Shannon, was great. All throughout, I was treated like a valued guest, not just a patient.

This November will mark 17 years since I received a coronary angiogram at Suburban Hospital that prefaced my by-pass surgery the very next day at Washington Hospital. I am eternally grateful for the role played by Suburban hospital staff in attending to my emergency care, which was a crucial step in my recovery and longevity. Thank you all for your professionalism and dedication to healthcare. Iā€™ve been doing great all these years later!

This hospital had the best staff. I had surgery a couple days ago and the doctors, staff , and everyone else who worked there were so kind. Every few minutes the doctors were reassuring me and telling me that every thing would be fine. They helped me feel much less scared about the surgery. After the surgery, I feel like sending them a big gift. I am now on the road to recovery!

The worst hospital in the area. Nurses are so selfish that they will not do anything for the patient if itā€™s inconvenient for for them. The nurses and the other staff are very slow out in the hallway talking and socializing and forgetting about the patience. They just want to sedate everyone so that the nurses can have some peace and quiet and their little social gathering. Stay away from this place they disrespect patients and their families.
