At 25 years old my bunions were already pretty unbearable. I played sports all my life, all year round, up until my junior year of college because finally the pain in my knees resulting from my bunions was too much to bear. In 2021 I went to see a doctor in Oregon who performs traditional bunion surgery and I was going to put my trust in him and get the surgery but my circumstances changed and I moved back to Maryland. I am so extremely happy that I didn’t get the traditional surgery. Since getting bunion lapiplasty with Dr. Polun, I learned about 2 family friends who did get traditional surgery and they were not happy with the results because years after their surgeries they are still recovering and still in pain. That is not the case for me, I got my right foot fixed in early April and feel amazing. In my 3 months of post surgery physical therapy I have been making great progress and am truly astounded at how aligned my foot, leg, and hip are now. It didn’t take long for my right leg to become stronger and sturdier than my left, and my left leg was the stronger, more supportive one pre-surgery. Dr. Polun has been so great and I am very glad I put my trust in him. He is straight-forward which I appreciate and has been very informative the whole time, making sure I understand what exactly is going on and why; answering any and all question that I or my mother have had (and she had a lot of questions). I was so happy with the first surgery that I got my left foot done in July. I am recovering now and this time around I feel even better, probably because of my excitement for what’s to come. Namely being able to get back to an athletic lifestyle, something I gave up on in the past several years due to pain and discomfort. I would recommend Dr. Polun to anyone seeking to fix their bunions.

Dr. Polun really made lapiplasty a wonderful experience. He was totally present with me and my wife at every appointment and surgery event. I have not met another medical doctor so caring. Between those times he was always available too. It gave me great confidence thst he hss performed so many procedures too. Results were astonishing! It is ashame that so many are still not familiar with the procedure. With both feet the nerve block lasted about 24 hours after surgery. Once you can move your toes just take the medications for another 12 hours while watching some good movies. After the nerve block wore off I felt minor pain pain and then no pain while watching movies with my feet propped up. I had a cast on for two weeks with the first leg and then wore a boot for a few weeks. Physical theraply lasted for 4 weeks. Six laser IR treatments made a big difference and I got a I-Walk device which made walking in a cast not difficult at all. Basically after surgery I was fully mobile within 2 months, where with normal bunyon surgery I would be just taking off the cast! With the second foot I was using the I-Walk right away and was allowed to skip the cast, just jumped directly into the boot. Get this, with my right foot in a medical sandle I am driving a car 4 days after surgery! Cant say enough good about Dr. Polun though.

Dr. Polun is an excellent podiatrist! Extremely knowledgeable, personable, and is an excellent doctor. As a long distance runner, my first visit was for a injury that he repaired. I put in a lot more miles since, but running does take a toll on your body, especially as you age. As much as I want Dr. Polun to give me the okay to start running again, he will not as long as it is not in my best interest. He is a doctor you can trust!

I cannot recommend Dr. Polun highly enough. I finally decided to get my bunions looked at because I was interested in the Lapiplasty surgery, and his practice is highly rated by the company that owns the patent. At my first appointment, he took the time to go through an entire presentation to explain the condition, the surgery, the recovery plan, and even provided a link to his webinar with even more detailed information. I chose to go forward with the surgery because not only is he a highly skilled and experienced surgeon, but it was clear that he truly cares for and values the patient experience. The recovery went so well that my surgery foot soon bothered me less than my other foot, and I was able to have the second surgery about 8 weeks after the first. Throughout this process Dr. Polun has taken the time to respond in detail to any concern or question, even responding on weekends. It is also quite clear that he stays on top of the latest research and does everything he can proactively to make sure that patients are set up for a successful recovery. I am very excited for my future with pain-free feet, thank you Dr. Polun!

Dr. Poulin was my saving grace! Back in May 2023, I tore both tendons in my left foot and tore a ligament. Saw one orthopedic specialist in Winchester, Va who refused to give me an MRI -doc felt I just pulled something and continued to allow me to do normal everyday activities within reason. I knew something else was wrong. Pain was slowly getting worse over the months. Went to my primary doc requesting an MRI and at the same time made another appt with a orthopedic foot specialist. That is when we saw how bad my foot was. Ortho doc put me in boot for two months and told me if this doesn’t help my only option is surgery to go in and repair both tendons and ligament. I was terrified if this surgery because of the down time and knowing that my foot will never be the same. I began researching other options and found Amniotic Stem cells. I saw patients having excellent results in Florida and was hoping there was a doc around the DC area that does it-and found Dr. Poulin. I consulted with my primary care doc and she has seen amazing results with stem cell injections on some of her patients and recommended that i go this route and told me to avoid the surgery at all cost. I met with Dr. Poulin and we reviewed my MRI and he told me I am a perfect candidate for the procedure! Had the injections done in his office in Potomac 2 weeks ago and already I can feel a vast improvement! I can walk on my foot without the pain i had previously-I still have more time to go for the tendons to continue to regenerate but already I feel 50% better! Thank you Dr. Poulin and to your amazing staff. If you are in the same situation, please meet with Dr. Poulin! He’s the best!!!!!He will give you a better quality of life.

Dr. Polun was very thorough in explaining the Lapiplasty surgery. He spent a good amount of his time understanding my toe issues and history. He is very easy to talk to and is clearly passionate about offering the best solutions to his patients. I am scheduled for surgery in November 2024.

This was my very first surgery ever, and Dr.Polun made me a promise before we went into the operating room that he would personally take care of me and not let anything happen to me. I felt very much at ease and I couldn’t be more thankful. If you are looking for an honest, knowledgeable doctor, he is the one to call. His staff are amazing and equally caring.

I have super high arches which cause a lot of problems with my feet. I was fortunate to find Dr. Polun to help me address those problems. He understands how challenging foot issues can be and always leaves me feeling that it's important to him to keep me active and mobile. He's very approachable and always takes the time to listen to my concerns with empathy. He patiently answers my questions both in the office and through email. I especially like how he makes an effort to always be current with new technologies or treatments that might help me. I'm never left wondering if there's "something out there" that could help me and I just don't know about it. If it's "out there", he knows about it. His high quality, compassionate medical care has made a significant positive difference in my life. I love this guy. You will too.

Personable. Solution oriented. Considerate of cost. Informative. I’m not a foot person so I could have seen less images of feet issues and surgeries but now I know. I’ve been very pleased with my non surgical progress. Highly recommend a consultation.

Dr. Polun is a wonderful doctor. He is knowledgeable and caring. For more than 2 years, I have been searching for answers regarding problems with my walking, balance, and falls--one of the symptoms being numbness in my left leg and ankle area. Dr. Polun identified and is treating a nerve problem, called Morton's Neuroma, in my foot, which some of my former neurologists never considered--even after conducting nerve test on my legs. I am very thankful to PA-C Angela Harner, Capital Neurology and Sleep Medicine, who recommended him. Moreover, Dr. Polun always has something encouraging to say; he is positive and hopeful. And, I like that he recommends healthy supplements, known as "medical food," to treat my condition. His staff members are also great! I'm a big fan of Austin, who is also very friendly, smart, and encouraging! The world needs more health care professionals, like Dr. Polun and his staff. They are topnotch!

Hello all, In this day of long wait times and rushed diagnosis Dr. Polun was a pleasant surprise. His entire office is run with a great degree of professionalism and his equipment and techniques are cutting edge. In contrast to him taking his time conducting a detailed interview when he had to perform a few procedures it was clear that he was totally at ease and the procedures were performed quickly and with minimal discomfort.....its easy to tell that he is very good at what he does. Lastly he is a very relaxing and reassuring person, who will make you feel welcome and relieve any worries you may have had. Richard Gavle

I was referred to Dr. Polun for a serious pain issue in my ankle. Through very clear and excellent explanations, tests, x-rays and a couple meetings he helped me understand and see what was wrong. His entire office and his patient care are top notch. He uses modern and well tested tactics to help you approach surgery and recovery. Through surgery, cast recovery and now going into physical therapy he has been an excellent communicator and helped me understand and plan appropriately for it all. I cannot recommend him and his office enough, he is an excellent doctor. He performed my surgery and my stitch area is healing extremely well. I feel so much better. You can tell his entire staff enjoy working for and with him. He treats everyone extremely well and very professionally.

I feel Dr Polun adequately addressed the problems I’ve been having with my foot. Since only time will tell if his recommendations lead to less discomfort, I’m hesitant to give a 5-star rating at this time.

I had a great experience with Dr. Polun and his team. I had a long road from diagnosis to surgery, and Dr. Polun supported me every step of the way. He answered every question I had, providing detailed, clear information where possible. Patient participation and research is an integral part of the process. Nothing is pushed on you, and I was able to exhaust every non-surgical option as a first step. The Lapiplasty surgery went great and the recovery care was easy to follow and very effective at getting me back on my feet. Thank you Dr. Polun!

Dr.Polun is an amazing doctor. Upon my first visit he did a great job at explaining everything he could, the options I had and going over the general status of my foot injury. We came up with a plan & that basically assured me I chose the right doctor. He performed my surgery and I’m still his patient Today! I would recommend him to anyone that needs to see a podiatrist. You’re in good hands God bless Dr. Polun & his team! JoelH.

Dr. Franklin Polun is a very nice doctor. My mother is foreign and speak only a bit of English and Dr. Franklin was very patient and respectful towards my mother and I. Dr. Franklin informed us of every important detail necessary for the appointments and surgery that is coming up. He also cares a lot about his patients and their recovery.

If you are considering lapiplasty surgery for your bunions, don't delay any longer! GO to Dr. Polun now!!! I cannot recommend him enough! I have had bunions on both feet for over 10 years, and within the last few years they had gradually gotten worse, severe to the point of deformity. Dr. Polun performed lapiplasty surgery on my left foot in November. Although I did extensive research and knew that he was an expert and highly recommended, I had no idea that he would change my life. He is not only a highly skilled surgeon, but his personal care and concern for his patients is phenomenal. He checked in on me post surgery on the weekend, and during my post-op appointments he always takes the time to make sure that all of my questions are answered, is very supportive, and clearly wants to ensure a successful recovery. Plus, his sense of humor is both refreshing and appreciated. I plan to have surgery on my right foot performed later this summer, so I am half way to feeling comfortable in open toe shoes. I can't thank you enough Dr. Polun!!

Dr Polun was fantastic! He cleared up a painful situation that had plagued me for months even after visits to other podiatrists. His treatment resulted in a complete recovery within two weeks. I highly recommend Dr Polun to anyone seeking treatment.
