I decided to come here because my mother in law comes and she never has any issues. She seems to always come back home in good timing. Not me, I had chest pains and shortness of breath for 2 days and pressure levels that seem elevated per Dario so my doc said go into the ERā€¦ The registration lady was great, but then the triage nurse said to me ā€œyour at home levels arenā€™t what we consider elevatedā€. She literally asked me what my issues were and I simply told herā€¦ To receive a response like this was like a slap in the face, it was like she basically said ā€œyour issue isnā€™t as urgent as you feel it isā€. I didnā€™t argue with her I didnā€™t provide any extra commentary outside of my blood pressure readings are high and I have a known history of high blood pressure and other thingsā€¦.I was no longer interested what she presented in character because that was very unprofessional and I never asked her to provide that input as I am very aware of what levels would be considered hypertension stage 1/2/etc. That still does not dismiss my issue of why am here and why I feel the way I feel. Then It was ONLY 6 people in the waiting room and I came in at 10:30pm and itā€™s 2:40amā€¦ I AM STILL IN THE WAITING ROOM. I understand being understaffed, but Iā€™m being patient because I still need to know whatā€™s wrong and I would hate for this wait to be completely for nothing, but I promise this will be my last time coming here voluntarily. Then half of the TV in here is blacked out, Iā€™m glad I brought me something to kill the time. I just never seen anything like this before. Itā€™s beyond crazy.

I am not from here at all but I was skeptical at first because I seen the ratings were low. When it comes to emergencies you have to go with whatever is close! From the momment I walked in I was treated well and the doctor was phenomenal and the staff checked in my frequently. The wait was long but thatā€™s too be expected at a hospital during the hot spot hours but I had no issues while being a temporary patient here !

Never again! I will wait to go to Patients First or make the drive elsewhere. Arrived around 8 with a nasty cough, lightheadedness, headache that was bothering me all day, chills, sweats, vomiting, body aches, chest pain, and wheezing. Waited and waited while dozing off. When they finally called me back at 1am, nobody helped me. They stood there as I struggled with the wheelchair after saying I was lightheaded. Then after getting my vitals, I was told that I have to go back to the waiting room since no beds are available. Ridiculous wait and clueless staff. I told them it hurts to breathe in and take deep breaths when I arrived, but it wasnā€™t a priority for them. I thought at least theyā€™d be proactive and do labs and chest X-rays so it can be processing while I wait. An hour later, I asked how much longer did they think it would be, and they said there were three people ahead of me. Itā€™s almost 3 in the morning and I refuse to be here for 12 hours before I get seen. Regardless the ailment, just go elsewhere.

First time took less time cause I had a baby I assume but still took forever about 7 hours to get him checked out. Second time my wife was there with our older son for over 9 hours waiting. I wonder if every emergency room is like that now days? Do they not have enough staff or whats going on? Be ready to spend all night here waiting to be seen. Not coming back.

I arrived here 4 hours ago and have yet to be seen by a physician despite the fact that there are little to no patients here and everyone is standing around chit chatting. There were 2 patients waiting ahead of me and I saw no other patients arrive. I saw 3 patients total the entire evening. In addition, this is a large beautiful facility with plenty of rooms, yet all patients were required to sit in the lobby the entire evening with blankets wrapped around them for some inexplicable reason, seemingly so they would not have to clean the rooms as they were all empty. I am here to rule out a heart attack or stroke, and the other two patients were obviously here for a medical condition that warranted a trip to the ER in the middle of the night, so 3 sick patients were made to sit upright in a freezing cold ER lobby in uncomfortable ER waiting room chairs, in my case for 3.5 hours, instead of a bed where we could have some degree of comfort. This is inexcusable. If this is going to be the poor quality of care and service the ER in the dilapidated old Laurel Regional Hospital could have remained opened as the service appears to have been much better. I have never, ever, EVER experienced anything like this in my life. There has been zero empathy, compassion or regard shown for the patients here this evening and I am outraged. This is patient abuse.

The worst experience here, this is not an emergency room and they could care less if you are dying whoever was there first goes first they don't even take your vitals or check you. I had an emergency and I could not breath and was crying in pain from my stomach but they didn't give 2shits, they wouldn't even get a nurse to check me. We had to get back into my husbands car in a wheelchair and drive to Howard County General about 20mins away! DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY THEY ARE THE WORST!! We need a NEW HOSPITAL in LAUREL NOT THIS TRASH THAT CALLS IT'S SELF A HOSPITAL!

The worst hospital I have ever been to. Brought my girlfriend in at 2:30pm and I'm still here and haven't left by 12:50am. Yes it's been 10 plus hours. The patients are not attended to fast enough and all I ever hear the employees talk about is eating. I definitely will never ecommend thus hospital to anyone. I wish negative 100 stars was available because that's the rating they deserve.

I have been a nurse for 49 yrs (46 yrs as an ER nurse, leader and educator). I still teach nurses and community and am a nurse legal consultant. I can effectively evaluate professional medical care. I was taken to the ER by ambulance with a severe medical condition and was cared for expertly and promptly in the ER. The medical, nursing and support staff all worked together to achieve my treatment goals. I had to be admitted for 2 days for continued care and also enjoyed the same expert level of care and kindness from all the staff. I had another medical emergency while I was admitted and the nurses intervened promptly and appropriately saving me from a bad outcome. The support staff was so kind and helpful and it was greatly appreciated during my time of need. I would not hesitate one second to return there for emergent or urgent care. Hospitals are overrun with staffing issues, increased patient volumes, budgetary constraints and insurance and governmental guidelines and mandates. It is very difficult to meet everyone's needs to what is expected. Please try to understand the pressures they endure to be available for us all. I thanked everyone who helped me return to a good state of health and maybe that went a long way towards the return interactions with them. Might be nice for us all to remember that to improve our lives and our service!

This place needs to be shut down permanently. Changing its name but with the same lack of urgency and care has me once again baffled. They will have you waiting whether itā€™s in triage or a room, without medication, a physician, or a simple update. Stating that there is only ONE doctor in the building. The nurses are even worse just walking around with terrible attitudes, and if you ask more than once they mumble to call security. The have about five nurses just walking around on their phones. Iā€™ve been here for over 6 hours , and not even a nurse came in to ask about my pain , simple fluids or just anything for CHRIST sake!! Itā€™s sad that people must fall out and pass away before someone gets medical attention. If itā€™s beds, they say the doctor is with a patient, if itā€™s not that they tell you people have been waiting longer. Itā€™s not right, itā€™s not ethical and thereā€™s no reason why this hospital should remain opened!

I'm so grateful for the exceptional care I received, during my 2 weeks at UM Laurel Medical Center. The doctors, nurses, techs, culinary staff and everyone who played an integral role in restoring my health were simply beyond amazing.

Thank you to everyone on the ER team last night. From the moment I arrived til the time I left, everyone I interacted with was caring, prompt, and professional. I only waited about 10 minutes before I was taken back. My doctor was knowledgeable and compassionate. Radiology was quick and even took the time during transport to make sure I was comfortable. The nurses and ER Tech were awesome. If you end up here and you get Tiana, Tracy, or Annis on your team, know that you've got great people at your side. Thank you for treating and helping meā¤ļø

I went to UMMC Laurel in pain on a 10..btw I live a clean as possible life.. I am on no pills.. no diseases...organic cleansers. vegetarian, and I work out. Somehow I pulled muscles down my right side. And the spasms were gripping the breath out of me from waistline to groin to thigh. I felt as if I was given birth... I waited in the waiting room for 3 hours to be seen... No bed offered. And whoever put the cheapest chairs in that waiting room should be reprimanded- How do you honestly think that SICK people can sit in those hard chairs for the long wait times your staff needs before patients can be taken to one of the 20 rooms they have? Someone who sits high needs to come sit in them for 4 hours, it is like torture. Moving on.. once I'm seen they do no labs but come to the same conclusion as Patient First, that I have pulled muscles. I should go to CVS and get some Tylenol. I should get Tylenol for the same pain that Patient First gave me a shot of Toradolfor. I had ran out of the cyclobenzaphrine meds from two days before visit to Patient First, where I received a Toradol shot and cyclobenzaphrine. I literally had to beg them for a Tylenol and they refused to prescribe more cyclobenzaphrine . And this leads me to my next concern - Why is it that doctors think African Americans do not have pain??? UM needs to better train the ER staff on issues regarding race and myths..If I go to 3 hospitals. and two offer meds and a possible injection for my pain level and UM Laurel offers nothing - Who is giving patients the better care? Lastly, I asked for an ice pack and they could find them šŸ˜žIf you were truly concerned about my experience you would follow up with your Staff and seek to reach me....

Saw all the reviews for this ER and was worried, but I had a very positive experience, especially given it was Memorial Day weekend and they were short staffed. Everyone was so patient and kind, and I had each step of the registration, testing and treatment explained to me. They took me back almost immediately for vitals, then later for blood and then finally to a room, so I was never waiting for more than 45 min. Shout out to nurse Shane - heā€™s the best and went out of his way to be gentle and bring some sunshine. The X-ray and CT techs were also great. Hearing some of the things they deal with, I am amazed that they maintain such a cheerful attitude. I canā€™t even count the number of pleasant, compassionate exchanges I overheard. The place is a little run down, bathrooms were not great, but I heard they are opening a brand new facility next door in a month or two. Thanks to everyone here for taking care of me!

My recent visit to the Emergency Room was marred by a notable lack of acknowledgment from the receptionist, Cristina V. Despite being present at the desk, she did not offer a greeting or any form of acknowledgment upon my arrival. This left me feeling overlooked and uncertain about the level of professionalism and attentiveness within the facility. The receptionistā€™s role in an Emergency Room setting is crucial, as they serve as the initial point of contact for patients seeking urgent medical attention. Effective communication and a welcoming demeanor can greatly alleviate anxiety and instill confidence in the quality of care. Unfortunately, in this instance, the absence of a simple acknowledgment created a sense of unease. To address this issue, I strongly recommend that the facilityā€™s management take immediate action. Providing comprehensive training to reception staff, emphasizing the importance of greeting and acknowledging patients upon arrival, can greatly improve the overall patient experience. Consistency in delivering professional and courteous reception services is essential for establishing an environment of trust and reassurance. By addressing this concern, the facility can enhance the overall quality of care and ensure that all patients feel valued and respected from the moment they step through the doors of the Emergency Room.

Worst ā€œERā€ Iā€™ve ever been to. My wife went for medical issues and got more professional help from the nurses than the ā€œDoctorā€ on shift. Whomever runs this ā€œfacilityā€ should be ashamed of the professionalism and service that is coming from this ā€œmedical center.ā€ Iā€™ll never come here again.

So this is the second time I have come to this hospital and the staff were really amazing. I am writing a second review because I want to give the team full credit for how incredibly hard they are working, and how understaffed they are (to no fault of their own). I came in over night, and I wonā€™t get into specifics of how MANY of the patients are non compliant with treatment requests or down right hostile. As a nurse or doctor- a lot of your success depends on the cooperation of the patient, and having an understanding of how lab work is processed and elements that can delay or completely derail timeliness. As a patient, asking questions and being as detailed and as honest about your symptoms does impact the quality of care a nurse and Doctor can provide. Yes, can the facility be updated? ABSOLUTELY. However, I fully stand by the staff I have had the pleasure of interacting with both times I came to receive ER services. Thank you for the hard work you do, and thank you Dr. Yadzi for taking care of me!

My mom had a procedure here and from the time we entered the emergency room we felt welcomed. The staff was so professional and nice. Before her surgery they spoke positivity to calm her nerves! The anesthesiologist Dr. Wallace and Dr. Stitt was exceptional. Their bedside manner made us even more comfortable. I trusted my mom in their hands.

My mother came to emegency room with the ambulance for extreme right leg pain. They did cat scan, MRI, Cardiogram. They checked her from head to toe. She was admitted for observation, for at least 5 nights. The nurses were great great. The social worker, Kathy was wonderful. The room was very clean. The food was not good at all.šŸ¤£šŸ˜£ But hey, who cares. We were at a hospital, not a resturant. I just want to let people know, there is truly Angels working here, like any other hospital or rehab/ nursing home. There was nothing more they could have done that they didnā€™t. I applaud and thank each one of them, for coming to work each day and caring for all their patients, and my mom.

The facility is very nice looking and a welcome change from the nearby old hospital. Like others, the wait is a little long but you dont realize from the waiting room that the actual facility is large and could be packed inside the actual emergency area. You can not judge the wait by how many folks are in the waiting room. The nurses and Dr were nice and offered good advice. They have a lot of the equipment needed for urgent care. I had a sonogram done and the tech was great!

please don't come here!! We arrived with my wife at 8:30 Pm and it is 1:00 AM in the morning and no doctor has yet seen her, not even the nurse was able to give her a gown so that she would be waiting for the doctor, it is very bad care, I thought that because being a new hospital was going to be good but we are disappointed

Imagine for a moment, you've got chest pain, left arm pain, jaw pain, loss of consciousness, and sudden change in vision. So you go to an emergency room, right? Now imagine you wait over an hour for an EKG. In a not overly busy ER. Well, you need not imagine further, come to this ER and find out for yourself!

This place is awful. When we first came in. There were people waiting for 8 hours and older people in pain that have yet to be seen. I was having issues myself and went home because the wait was too long. They really need to improve, there is no excuse to not being able to help people. If it's staff hire more people would sooner fall over then to be seen by a doctor here. In an earlier visit I was left on an IV for an hour uncomfortable this is very sad. I have never experienced such wait in a hospital

Very odd with all these bad reviews. I had a great experience, and the staff were kind and prompt. Regarding the building, I can tell itā€™s older. So, not everything is going to be up to date and nice. Nor, does the staff control the budget. So, as far as medical servicesā€¦ I was happy.

Upon arrival today we were extremely concerned about the cleaning of all the windows. The emergency room windows throughout the building are very dirty. This is a place where sick people go to get better, and this is NOT cleanliness at all. Somebody needs to keep these windows clean on a regular basis!!!! Staff was very nice, professional, and friendly.

The light brown complexion nurse with the glasses has something wrong with her. For one she talks about patients and how itā€™s a waste of time and bill as if sheā€™s the one who is paying for it. Girl all you do is work in triage be fr! If i wasnā€™t feeling sick i wouldā€™ve gave her the bidnessssss ok because if you have something to say, say it to me. I will never come here again i can already see ill end up in jail so im good

Weight time is slow. You will be called to the back and still won't be seen until a hours later. Timing is terrible with the nurses. I was with a client on two separate occasions and had to weight hours after I was called to the back. They are not equipped to handle patients with disabilities. Choose another hospital. The entire hospital from the wound center to the ER.

I typically try to avoid the emergency room because as a person who works in a healthcare setting, if you can wait to see your doctor, Do it. However tonight I was rushing and caught my hand in a door which ripped my nail completely from the skin down to the root. It was so painful. I tried just going to the urgent care but it was closed. The staff were polite, communication was great and I was in and out within 3 hours. Thank you to Dr. Clark and all the staff for the help. Cool photo of the aftermath for those who like a little gruesomeness!

This is the worst hospital I've ever been to. My husband & I are new to the area & I was 15 weeks pregnant at the time & suffering from a migraine so we went to the closest hospital. -Room was dirty & had the previous patients blood & urine samples on the table -I was waiting for an extremely long time & when I went to check I was told "they thought I left bc the room that I was supposed to be in" thank God I didn't pass out in there. -I had to ask for them to check on my baby -Although I was severely dehydrated I was not offered anything to drink -I overheard the nurse saying "a lot of women only come to the hospital to hear their baby's heartbeat" I Do Not & will NOT EVER visit that hospital again.

My daughter had a bad accident at a local play ground and needed to be carried in there by my wife. She walked in and NOT ONE NURSE, POLICE OFFICER, DOCTORā€¦.NO ONE EVEN LOOKED UP TO SHOW CONCERN. A 8 year old girl needed treatment and everyone was too busy doing absolutely nothing. Idk what they are building next door but they should burn it all to the ground and forget it if that is the kind of service they plan on providing local citizens. Iā€™m not only disappointed Iā€™m FURIOUS that my wife had to walk out of there carrying my child and drive her all the way to DC to be seen by a competent doctor that actually cares. This place SUCKS! I hope and pray I NEVER need to bring a loved one to this poor excuse for a hospital.

My friend has been battling cancer, first time visiting the ER since she was diagnosed. It took 2 hours before they triaged her and weā€™re currently on the 4th hour and still no admittance. Everyone that was here before us has been seen, and many people after us have been seen. When I followed up with the triage nurse, she was completely dismissive and could care less. Front desk nurse was wonderfulā€¦ did her job well. But this place is ROUGH. Would not recommend.

I took my husband with a very strong lower back pain he was suffering and he couldn't walk or sit, I went to the reception and told the girl that I need help to take him to in to to waiting room, since I am pregnant and I couldn't support the weight of my husband, much less carry him by myself, she told me to park in front of the entrance that someone would come to help me, we waited 35 minutes parked there waiting for someone to lend us a wheelchair and not one came out to help, I went to ask what was going on two more times until a not very friendly nurse came out to help me. He left us in the waiting room, we gave the insurance information and that was all they did for us, we waited an hour and a half for someone to attend him but nobody ever attended him, he complained of so much pain, that he wanted me to throw him on the floor because he couldn't stand sitting anymore, but then I decided to take him to another emergency room since it seemed like no one cared about him. It is worth mentioning that the room was empty, there were only 4 people waiting and during all that time they did not attend to anyone.

I been waiting since 4:30 am still havenā€™t been seen yet and Iā€™m still here r and it now 7:56 I been vomiting since 5 days and still canā€™t be seen yet. I finally got seen at 8:15 the Dr. was great the nurses leave you there for hours with out checking on you. I didnā€™t get discharged until 2:20 donā€™t know whatā€™s going on but that is the worst emergency service I ever experience hope I never have to go there again. They really need to improve starting from the front desk to the nurse you see first this emergency service need some changes on how they do things for the better

If you are having an asthma attack, do not come here. Their beautiful nurses will ignore your calls for help and then finally show up just to ask ā€œhow do you know itā€™s not anxietyā€. Literally couldā€™ve died. No one took me seriously until I complained. Someone listened to my chest and said ā€œoh wow her chest is tight letā€™s order the medication nowā€. DO NOT COME HERE! Appreciate the help but if I hadnā€™t complained who knows what wouldā€™ve happened.
