Have been there twice. Good Tendon. I like their fried egg, tempura white fish, tempura veggie and tempura eel. Tempura shrimp was not very fresh this time. Pickle was good. You can order your meal at the kiosk. And you can get the reward points

Visited per a friend's recommendation (lilmissmodel on instagram). Came July 19th, 2022 right when they opened (11:00 a.m.). My friend Michelle recommended their #21, so I got the #21 COLD Tempura Soba combo ($14.48) and added a #27 White Fish ($2.50). I enjoyed it because I felt light afterwards. I expected to feel heavy and full of oil after eating tempura, but that did not happen. The noodles were firmly al dente, which I like. The tempura fried chili🌶 had a light spice kick. Pumpkin was great, might have been my favorite tempura fried item. My only complaint was the shrimp/fish to batter ratio was smaller than I would like. I would gladly pay more for a larger, jumbo shrimp🍤 for that same thin amount of batter. Great job though staff! Would eat here again when in the area.

The food quality is on and off, but generally good (it all depends on the time of the day you order it) Everything is hot and fresh but miso soup one time tasted bad. I hope they can keep up the consistency and always serve the best Japanese traditional tempura meal and miso soup.

Great spot...love it. They would get five stars from me if they went back to using real wasabi...hint, hint.

I got the shrimp tempura and eel rice bowl. The rice was very mushy and overcooked. The tempura was bland. The eel was void of taste. The meal was a disappointment.

I like the place, the food is good, tasty and they have several options. The staff is fine, not much interaction with customers though. I usually have the jumbo shrimp (see picture). Great option for a quick lunch. During the week is not that busy, you’ll get your food quick.

What has happened to you? I can't believe that the quality of your food has become terrible. I moved to this area several years ago, and your tendon was one of my family's favorite dishes. However, I've noticed a change over the past couple of months. Today, I visited your shop for a dine-in lunch. We ordered one okonomiyaki and tendons. Unfortunately, we had to stop eating the okonomiyaki after just two bites due to a disgusting chemical smell and the dish being severely overcooked to a black color. I immediately informed your staff, and they acknowledged the strange smell. The quality of the tendon tempura has also declined from what it used to be. It seems something may have happened in your kitchen and with your quality control. I don't want to lose one of our favorite spots in Bergen County. Please check your kitchen situation and make improvements. I can still smell an uncomfortable chemical odor from my stomach. I hope this information is helpful for making your store better

The food was great, warm and crispy outside & soft inside. It is much better to dine-in than take-out due to the fact that it’s fried food. However, it needs to train its employees better, as they looked distracted and didn’t even bother to call my number although it was ready for more than five minutes before I asked them if that’s my order.

Good spot for a light Japanese lunch. Recommend that you dine in instead of take out. This is the type of food you should eat fresh. Curry udon was nice. More simple than I thought as it appears they just dump curry sauce on top of a beef udon bowl. It wasn’t bad though. Miso soup was good too. I will be back to try the rest of the menu.

Get number 3. Anago eel, egg, shrimp, vegetable and pepper. This is the tempura bowl you want. I get this almost every time. Sometimes I’ll get the shrimp with egg one but anago(salt water eel) is really good and rarely seen fried anywhere

Food portion extremely small for the price tag 20 special bow is 3 piece fish a slice of shrimp, and some fish egg. Extremely overpriced. Quality isn't even that great.

Always our go to spot when visiting Mitsuwa Marketplace. The rice set is so delicious! The fish are fresh and tender. Rice are seasoned perfectly. Our favorites are the Jewelry Box, Tsujita Bowl, and the Scallop Chirashi.

They are not the old Tsujita anymore. They used to be my FAVORITE in Mitsuwa, I was so sad when they close down during pandemic, and was so excited when they reopened. But now it’s so sad… rice is wayyyyyyy toooooo sour, so little sashimi on the rice, even the miso soup was tooooo salty… can’t believe i Waited 9 month (preganancy) just for this, so disappointed. I ordered when I was starving, but can’t even finish the bowl cuz it’s too sour. SAD. One star for the taste, the other star to memorize how good they used to be.

Don’t buy Hokkaido UNI from this store. The staff ripped off its expiration date and the quality of uni is shown on the 1st pic. Uni is melted because it is not fresh at all and is stored for too long. You can get the same brand, same quantity (120g) , fresh uni at Mitsuwa store for only $59.95

Must try if you’re in Mitsuwa! I ordered their chirashi bowl and regret not ordering two bowls. Their fish is fresh, rice perfectly cooked and priced perfectly. Definitely coming back for more when I’m in the area

I ordered the salmon jewelry box (top right). There were an adequate amount of salmon chunks as well as salmon roe. The rice was well cooked but my favorite part was the shiso leaves. They give a floral aroma to every bite and it balances the bowl so well! I wish they still used a box for serving but maybe that’s a post COVID thing.

One of the better tempura places around although I truly miss the presentation of the food prior to COVID-19. I put up a picture from 2015 to show presentation then. You place an order and can take home but this food doesn’t do well as takeout. It does much better if you can eat it in the common dining space or if you’re uncomfortable with that just bring it back to your car and eat it there. The crispness of the tempura fry is what you desire and that suffers if you wait too long to eat this. So the best way to enjoy dishes from this place shuts as soon as you get your order from the kitchen. It’s not as enjoyable otherwise. The food takes about 10-15 minutes to cook and longer if the place is busy. They have gotten better with post pandemic packaging as well. They have switched to plastic containers from the styrofoam containers and they cut vent holes in the plastic cover top now.

Edit: I never had an issue with their food quality before, but today, the soba was obviously boiled way ahead of time then reboiled again. The noodles were too well done, rubbery, and inedible. I had to chuck the entire thing. Also usually the food takes a while to come out. Well, not today, since it came out in an instant like everything had been microwaved. It’s so disappointing but whoever was in the kitchen clearly didn’t care if the food was fresh or not.

Hannosuke ✅ If you like tempura, and anything fried similar to tempura, you must try this place, their tempura and fried veggies bowl is the best! Be ready for wait time varies from 30-60 mins, depends on which day and time you’re there, and remember to pay attention to your number so you can eat them as crunchy and crispy as they should. My order was: original tendon set #1 and assorted tempura #23. Both tempura are satisfying good and the crispy crunch very addictive! My lil one said the broccoli tempura is bumpy and tasted like chicken. You got 3 side dishes for each set of food you ordered, the egg, miso soup and pickle salad. You can order directly at the kiosk, or order on the tab they provided in front of the kiosk. Don’t forget to get rewards points each time you order. 📍595 River Rd, Edgewater NJ 07020 Floor 1 of Mitsuwa Supermarket. ⏰ daily 11.30AM - 07.30PM 🚾 available inside the supermarket building. ♿️ accessible for both 🅿️ parking lot around the building #hannosuke #tempura #preservefootprints
