My wife and I went here to walk the trails. We took a lot of photos of the various animals and Native American-style replica homes. It was very nice. I returned with my father because I knew he'd like it, too.

This was a really nice park with some goats, chickens, honey bees, etc. They also have a really nice playground for kids and some simple hiking trails. Really great destination for families with kids

This is a nature park, they take care of some animals at the same time that visitors can go and watch them. They have plenty of space for visitors to relax and enjoy nature. They have a playground for kids to play too.

If you are a local residents with young children, this is a great place to go to enjoy an afternoon. This nature preserve has been around for a while and was originally a part of old Edgemont. The walkways are easy to get through. The animals are gentle. The butterflies are amazing. The tour through the manor house is very historic. You basically have to bring your own food otherwise you have to eat on central Avenue. There are some quality programs for children and you can book an event here as well if you wish. It's worth your time and in is not overly expensive. It's pretty picturesque up here and very quiet. Enjoy it one day. Great place!

Awesome place, even on a particularly cloudy day. So much to see. Nature centred Playground, extensive easy hiking trails, and did I mention geocaching. Plenty of parking, picnic areas, butterfly garden, so many sights and things to see I can’t list them all. Great for adults and kids a like. It’s like a little slice of heaven away from busy roads, and busy life. We all need a bit of fresh air like this once in a while, right😜😀

The manor house was awesome. Great staff members and volunteers. Jim basically took out all the animals for my son to look at up close. Jim was super knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic about the animals. He also reminded me not to forget my son's toy airplane. We will definitely visit again.

We got to spend about one hour here before it started pouring for the rest of the day but we had a really nice time! We checked out the native plants, got chased by some chipmunks for about 5 minutes (honestly we had a blast with this), saw some birds, and the butterfly garden. We didn’t pay for the butterfly garden (I think it’s like $5 and it looked like they’d just give you a code to the lock) and I’m glad we didn’t. There really wasn’t much to it (even for $5!) and you can just see everything quickly from outside of it. Maybe we came at the wrong time of year and earlier it would have been more fun. I got to enjoy ‘interacting with’ this beautiful raven, and then we hung out in the visitor center for a while until we could run back to our car when the rain slowed. We saw on a pamphlet there that you can sign up to walk the Pygmy goats in the spring and we will definitely be back to do that next year!

We are happy to find this park , it is very cute place, not crowded, there are several wooden playgrounds a small barnyard, a place to have picnic ( with permit I suppose), nice walking trails and good parking spots, thanks a lot to Greenburg Nature center workers and staff!

We had a fantastic experience with a private barnyard/goat walk session, led by Noah! Our group was all preschool/toddlers who had a blast! Noah was wonderful with adjusting the program to their ages. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun/creative alternative birthday party!

We just did a class re: history of maple sugaring! Super cute class for a sunny winter day. Class was all outside with a lesson. Kids (all mostly averaging 3-8 yrs of age. Excellent, engaging teacher demonstrating Native American, colonial, and some modern day techniques at the outdoor sugaring sites. We even tapped a few Maple trees and tasted the sap.

This was a very nice nature park. Aiden was a wonderful volunteer who helped educated us about the animals there. He engaged my daughter who is 20 months very well with his knowledge of the animals. The park was for all ages. Smaller and bigger play areas. Alot of space to not be on top of each other. Picnic tables to bring some food/snacks.

This is a great place for kids if you are a local resident, we come here all the time to hike and for the playground. We will continue coming for sure. The only complaint I am writing about today is that they had a kids program activity going on that charges $8/person. That's fine and all, but it was soooo not worth it! For 2 adults and 1 child comes out to $24. The person leading the activity is great - he was funny and knowledgeable. But if I had known it was really just going to be to look at 2 bugs and walk to the bee area right outside that is free already to the public and then come back to paint a rock that is just for kids anyway. Ugh it was NOT worth the $24. They really should just charge the kids only and not the adults. And on top of that the admission to the part upstairs is separate!! Shouldn't it be at least included with the overpriced activity? So my kids wanted to check out upstairs and we paid for that, the upstairs is amazing, no complains there and well worth the price. The volunteers are super friendly and you can see they are passionate about what they do. BUT for the $50 we spent here we could have gone to the Bronx Zoo and take a ride on the dinosaur safari! I guess if you are a GNC member it is a few dollars cheaper but for that price I rather be a Bronx Zoo member. The public libraries in the area have FREE activities that are much more substantial and exciting than what GNC offered today... I guess I was just very disappointed especially for the price and would not be going to the activities again...

Butterfly exhibit was wonderful. Travis, the naturalist is a Westchester treasure. His knowledge is extensive and his way of educating kids and talking about the environment is outstanding.

Although it was raining the day we visited, we still had a blast getting to know the animals and the employees were so nice! We were also very pleased to find vegan options in their snack bar! We will definitely visit again!

For the price of the indoor attraction, really good deal. Staff is courteous. The grounds are open for free otherwise, which is great.

The trails are great for a rustic run. There is an educational spot with some native animals good for kiddies, adjacent to the original manor home. The current caretakers live in the outbuilding. The Center is adjacent to the Edgemont School.

We just had a birthday party for our daughter here and it was perfect. Nick was great - he taught the kids a lot about five animals. The grounds are lovely and, after cake, the kids got to run around the awesome.nature playground until they needed to go.

This place is great for kids and families. There are live animals and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The playground is awesome! And never crowded. It's also free to walk the grounds. Viewing the animals costs like $6, but no big deal! Totally worth the experience.

It is always a good place to go with kids. They have opportunities to touch animals in the museum, listen from the staff working there about animal information and ask questions. The staff are welcoming and patient to children. They also run different after school and summer programs to bridge the gap between kids and nature.

So much fun! Even on a cloudy, cold fall day. Trails were fun and the animals were a delight!!!

  • 5/5 Awilda N. 3 years ago on Google
Great trails for a quick walk in the woods, nice open lawn for picnicking, a small playground, a pair of bald eagles, great horned owl, a raven and a few goats are outside for viewing and free. Unfortunately, the manor house is closed so its small collection of animals and the restrooms are not available. Please consider donating or joining to keep this lovely place open.

Have to give it Five Stars! This place was a blast for my 2 year old son. They have parking, goats, sheep chickens and beautiful nature trails. Best part all that was FREE. This is the way spending time with family should be. 🙃 I’ll be coming back and definitely spending more time.. and don’t forget to donate to the park. This place definitely deserves a visit

I was there for their train. Small but well done layout and fantastic club members

  • 5/5 Noah S. 1 year ago on Google
Loved this place! My daughter wasn't so interested in the train show (though I thought it was great), but the animals upstairs were a huge hit. She loved petting the tortoise and ferret. The playground outside was also fun and unique, and the birds of prey were also interesting. We spent about an hour there.

Perfect plan for half day. The place is very well maintained. Clean, tidy, information signs... There are a few marked trails for very easy and short walks. Also, nice areas for kids (and adults) to learn about animals and plants.

  • 1/5 Katara W. 10 months ago on Google • 1 review
This place keeps staff on hire that mishandle animals and let animals bite guests, as well as staff that abuse their own pets. Animal enclosures are too small and look like they get no money put into them. The whole place is a disaster aside from some passionate staff members that have their love for nature and education taken advantage of, as they are clearly overworked and underpaid. Animals and staff are unhappy, but hey, I guess they sold some memberships right? Everything is not always as it seems.
