Oh to be back in NJ and just after 8am Sunday mass with my Mom (I grew up in Old Bridge and live in Milwaukee now-officially NOT known for good bagels) and have a delicious, fresh out of the boiler/oven masterpiece... an NJ classic; Everything Bagel 2 eggs over medium PORK ROLL Salt, Pepper, Ketchup (duh..no brainer) IT WAS FANTASTIC. My only regret was getting sausage and home fries but at age 50...in moderation. Of course a dozen to go and some plain and vege spread. These bagels freeze exceptionally well a day were just as good the day after (10 seconds in the microwave and 5 mins in the Viking stove to bring it back to life. I've lived in Manhattan, Los Angeles, San Francisco and will gladly tip my hat to BAGEL BOY in Old Bridge on Rte 516. Oh and the owner while slammed with a long line greeted us with a heartfelt "Good morning! Welcome" Patrick N. Whitefish Bay, WI

Good bagels. Long wait time but well worth it. Wide variety of bagels and other breakfast delights available. I ordered a garlic bagel with jalapeno omelette and it was delicious but very messy. Hot chocolate is good but not great. My wife ordered an everything bagel with eggs and she thought it was tasty. Our order was incorrect but it was minor, and we can tolerate the mistakes. Staff were very busy but attentive to customers. Bathroom was clean.

Usually a great place to get Bagels in the area. sadly the service can sometimes be a bit slow even when is not super busy. I also got a burned bagel, which motivated this review, but in my prior experiences the bagels were good (not burned). hoping to have a better experience in the future.

I mean aside from the Lox being fresh if you get anything egg related it's so foul. Other places all seem to have fresher bagels too. And they 75% of the time mess up very simple orders. I'm not one to usually rank something so low but this play has had hype to its name for almost 20 years.. for what?

Ordered 2 poppy seed, bacon, egg, and cheese. Soft bacon and toasted roll. I have burnt bacon, a poppy seed bagel, and it's not toasted. I'm not sure why they didn't give me a good sandwich, but I'm too far to return. Why would you serve, burnt bacon? I've had better at your shop. I'm too far to return. 😞

We unexpectedly stopped here for breakfast one day. Being vegetarians, finding choices for breakfast is usually tough. But, Bagel boys had a variety of vegetarian items - salads, sandwiches, wraps etc. We loved the food here served hot.

Best bagels ever. I used to go to the original Brooklyn location in Sheepshead Bay. But I moved to South Jersey in 2020, when I retired, to be near my kids and grandkids. I missed their bagels but it's a 2+hour drive. So my daughter said let's try their NJ location. It was a little over and hour drive. It saved us over $30 in tolls. So it was like getting our bagels free! But most important, it's the same quality Bagel Boy bagels we were used to and missed so much.

The worst set up I've ever seen. You cant pay for food unless your food is ready?? That causes utter confusion. People who walk in have no clue who's online and who's not. I called to place an order and the guy on the phone says I can only place an order online. Once I walked in after waiting for about 12 minutes, I had 3 workers just look at me and then turned their back. It's like they refused to wait on me. It was very strange. I've always heard good things about this place and I'm sitting her scratching my head and wondering why? My wrap was very good but both of my sons bagels were terrible. Wayy too doughy and undercooked. Won't be back

This place has steadily declined for the past 10 years. It is quite unfortunate that the owner is ok with how rude management can be to customers and how poor of a job they do at handing you an order you placed that’s 50% accurate at best. I ordered a jalapeno egg and cheese with extra jalapeño, salt pepper ketchup. I was handed a jalapeño egg and cheese with all those things AND Spinach, Raw Onions, no salt or pepper and drowned in ketchup. Fantastic job

How this place doesnt have a 5.0 rating shocks me. Here every weekend. Place is always busy. Food is always phenomenal. One of my top 3 favorite spots in Old bridge. Best bagels I’ve ever had.

Bagels and food are great, but I need to leave 4 stars because the ordering process is awful and has been for years. When you order, they don't take your name or give you a number, instead, you have to wait with the 50 other people there for the person who took your order to call out what it is (pork roll egg and cheese, a dozen bagels, etc.) which sounds like everything everyone else waiting ordered. There's typically a lot of confusion finding your order and paying as the front of the store fills with people coming in and everyone waiting. New customers coming in also have a hard time finding the line based on the confusion in the front. This could be remedied if the line was reversed--you order, pay, and receive a number first, and then just pick up your order when your number is called. There's often a wait on weekends, I do think the food is good enough to wait a bit, but the confusion makes things very frustrating.

Consistently fantastic year after year. By far the best bagels in the area, and I've tried them all. Expect a decent wait time during the busy morning and afternoon rush. Chocolate flavored coffee is incredible.

Terribly slow service, but bagels are decent. Service is what holds this place back. I don’t know how many times I’ve asked for NO cheese and they put cheese on it anyway. They need to open their eyes and ears more and pay attention to orders. The order will have the right item in the receipt but it doesn’t match what I get. Shame.

RAINBOW BAGEL??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME! When I saw it my eyes lit up like how I felt when I was at a candy shop!! Was confused about where the line started but rainbow bagel is so addicting NJ must try!!!

(6-8-23 10:32am) Purposely ignored at front counter by short woman with curly hair. She did it twice and actually skipped me. Big thanks to the nice Hispanic man who finally saw me standing there to hand me my bag. Really hate to complain, but it looked blatant. Bagels 🥯 delicious as always!! (3-5-23) Just picked up a few bagels and it was probably the best bagel I ever had!! They need to have a line/sign for “pick up only”, but the quality will make you forgot that minor inconvenience fast.

I just tried this place, wanting to deviate from my regular place closer to home. I honestly haven’t had a bagel this good since I lived in North Jersey well over 10 years ago. As long as I live in this area, this will be my go-to bagel and breakfast place! Bagels are super fresh, airy, and the perfect amount of chewiness. Also, you can order online through their site. Make this place your regular spot and you won’t be disappointed!

First timer . Went on a Sunday morning .. for breakfast .. nicely located .. parking is good . Lots of parking outside .. They have very good options for breakfast - bagels 🥯, sandwiches , eggs 🥚 🍳, omelette etc.. .. they have many bagel 🥯 choices - poppy , everything etc .. and lots of cream cheese options . It was crowded : there were 5-7 people helping all customers. Took a longggggg time to even reach to order the breakfast ! Slowwww service .. took us 30-45 mins to order and deliver our breakfast … Bagel 🥯 cream cheese was so good. We also ordered omlette . It was average . Have had omlette in other delis and they are also give other stuff like hashbrowns and breads . Overall a good place for breakfast but too slow .

Flew in from Savannah GA to visit family. A buddy down here asked for some bagels from me on the way back. I immediately thought of Bagel Boy. Stopped in, ice chat with the owner..great service. Sliced them up1st then froze them. When we toasted them up- perfect. Now all my Savannah neighbors found out… I’ll stop by again when in NJ or BK. Thanks Staff. Nice work

Only reason it gets two stars is because the bagels are good. Probably one of the best in the area. But they need to improve their service. Ordering online doesn’t help at all. It’s actually better to order in-person. That’s makes no sense. Last time I ordered online, it took them 40minutes to make three breakfast sandwiches. Meanwhile they served 30 people in store before getting my order ready. It’s honestly absurd to wait 40 minutes for breakfast takeout. They really need to learn to make online orders on time. Anytime you order online, it is never ready and you end up waiting 10-20 minutes in the store. Meanwhile, in-store customers get their food much faster.
