Thought I’d try out Moxie salon just from working in the area. The day of my appointment my stylist was running late and front desk suggested I grab a coffee. I came back 15 minutes later but my stylist was not ready. I was seen 35 minutes after the time of my appointment. When she was washing my hair not only was she talking poorly about the front desk loudly but I guess not paying attention either because she got my face wet with the hose. She kept saying how she wanted to leave and how tired she was. I thought it was weird that there was no towel placed on the head rest to prevent any water running down the back. After she was done washing my hair, the stylist walked away without saying anything. I just assumed I was suppose to follow her. I sat down and then she was gossiping with the girl next to her. My stylist barely spoke to me just asked if I was getting a trim. I told her I was getting curtain bangs as well. Not only was she rough blowing out my hair but also burned my scalp with the dryer. I moved forward and I heard her mumble an apology. My curtain bangs are uneven. It looks like a cosmetology student did my hair. It was not the best first time experience. I was going to complain after the service but the stylist was hovering around the front. I had called later on in the day and was told a manager would reach out to me. My appointment was Saturday and it is now Tuesday afternoon. I understand you can have a bad day but the whole time my stylist was just a negative vibe. If management ever reads this I’d prefer you not give me some auto response and leave me an email to reach out you.

Moxie Salon has a great atmosphere--very modern and clean. I always ask for Mike, who truly has expertise as a barber and stylist! He gives top-tier haircuts and accommodates to exactly the hairstyles requested. He is very skilled and precise at giving a smooth taper and clean fade and shape-up on the sides, which is my current preferred haircut. Mike has a great personality and is very up-beat and friendly, as are the receptionists and the rest of the employees at Moxie, making for a superior experience from beginning to end. I will most definitely be back any time I need a fresh haircut!

10/10 experience!! All the hairstylists are so professional and the nicest people you will meet. Dana did such a great job in getting the perfect pink for my hair. Always a great experience when i’m there. The makeup artist always has me walking out the salon feeling beautiful as ever. Definitely recommend coming here!!!

I’ve been going to Moxie for the last few years primarily for blowouts. This week Shelly did a full head of highlights on me. The result is beautiful, chic and natural. I get compliments on my hair daily. Such a nice refresh for the holidays.

I had a woderful experience at Moxie yesterday. Every staff are very professional and friendly. Jeanna was amazing with my hair. She did a full highlights and a haircut that looks awesome. What a fabulous experience I had today during my makeover. My hair looks fabulous courtesy of Eve and my makeup is a “wow” thanks to Naila. These ladies are rock stars of the beauty business! Everyone at Moxie Montclair is friendly and professional. I love going there! I’m an older woman, but they see my inner beauty and release it to the world! Thank you Moxie, I’ll keep coming!

Moxie is my favorite salon in Montclair. My hair always looks great and their service is amazing. Dana is the best colorist and stylist. She’s been coloring my hair for over 7 years and I always get so many compliments! Mike and Eve also give great cuts for me and my daughters. My daughters love going to Moxie!

I've been going to Moxie for almost 7 years and I have never had a bad experience. I get my hair done by Mike all the time and I am always so happy with the outcome. The staff are incredibly friendly and create a very comfortable atmosphere. Mike is a wonderful hairstylist!

10/10 experience! I was greeted immediately and the entire staff was so friendly! I can’t say enough good things about Niles! She was incredible and I absolutely loved my hair and makeup! Came to moxie to get my lashes done today. I've been getting my lashes done for years and they never looked better. Melina did a fabulous job. I'm so obsessed with them. She was so sweet and took her time. Kelly the manager recommended Shelly to give me a blowout. Best blowout ever! Love moxie and will be returning

I have to leave a review to spare my fellow curly girls. I booked a curly cut for $90 Friday 8/18/23 with Eve. I purposely booked with her since her curls were the closest that resembled my texture and naively thought she would understand my texture and how to do a true curly cut. I have gone to many of the well known curly salons so my expectation around a curly cut are high. I went in only wanting a trim and I'm glad that I set a firm boundary on that. For starters I asked Eve if she cuts curly hair wet or dry because there is a difference especially when you're talking curly cuts. She said she does both; I sat in her chair and she began to comb out the front of my hair. I asked her what she was doing as my experience with curly cuts they do not comb out your hair for a cut. That defeats the whole purpose. She then proceeded to cut off much more than the ends and my friend that was standing near by stated she was nervous for me. Eve then got defensive and said there was a lot of pressure as my friend was standing behind her and I tried explaining to her that it has taken me some time to get to this point with my hair and I have had terrible experiences with cuts in the past hence why I am super particular with my haircuts. I proceeded to tell her I did not feel comfortable with her cutting my hair with that energy. She then calmed down and started just cutting my ends. The trim wasn't terrible although the experience was not what I expected. I go to this Salon for my lashes and love how the lash tech is and her work. Once the trim was done Eve asked if I wanted to add some product onto my hair and let me tell you! She misted a spray on my hair while scrunching and then added the cream and scrunched some more. My hair was FRIZZY! I have tighter curls/coils and an experienced stylist for curls knows better than to #1 only mist the hair and #2 scrunch on not soaking wet hair is a huge NO NO. I honestly was shocked at how my hair looked. I ran so fast to the bathroom to re-wet it and re-set my hair. I didn't even get the chance to take a picture. I will never go to this salon for any curly services and do not recommend to anyone that has tighter curl pattern. I emailed them on Friday as well but have not heard back from anyone at the corporate office, I wanted to warn my curly girls that are looking in the area for a "curly cut" this is not the salon for you! Look elsewhere!

I can't rave enough about Moxie in Montclair! I've been a loyal customer for over a year and have never had a bad experience! It’s a one-stop shop for hair and makeup. Spark (Hair)- I met this gem a year ago, and I swear she was born to tame curly frizzy hair! Spark has excellent technique, which allows her to blow out my frizzy curls without burning or damaging them. I've straightened my curly hair most of my life, so I've had a few lousy blowouts where I run home to smooth out the roots myself. You’ll never experience this with Spark! She’s a great listener, so I always leave the salon with exactly what I request! Lastly, she’s efficient; she’s managed to blow out, clip in my extensions, and curl my hair all in under an hour on days when I am in a pinch for time. All around, a fabulous person and stylist! Naila (Makeup) - another gem at Moxie! Naila tames the dark circles and bags under my eyes! She starts the session by asking a couple of questions about what type of look you're trying to achieve, and as she works on each section of your face, she will stop to ask if you are happy. Naila is an excellent listener and a delightful person to chat with. She’s creative and very good at her craft.

Love coming to Moxie, very friendly staff, great ambiance. Shelly does amazing make up and can give you any look you want either natural or heavy. She listened to what I wanted and created an amazing look. Mike was great with my hair and gave me beautiful curls that lasted the entire night. I had people complement me on my make up and my hair. Will definitely be coming back here. Kelly the manager is wonderful and very professional

I visited Moxie for the first time today and I still can't get over how amazing this blow out is! My hair has never looked so good! My hair is pin straight & heavy so it often falls flat and I almost never get volume at the roots. I left this salon and my hair was so bouncy and voluminous! Lidi did my amazing blow out and did it so quickly too! 10/10..already booked another appointment for next week :)

Truly blown away by the professionalism and talent at Moxie Montclair! I came in to see Jeanna for a highlight and also received a haircut from Eve and makeup from Naila. My expectations were surpassed and I left with an even better and more beautiful outcome than I was expecting. Each of the service providers took their time to listen to my vision while guiding me in a realistic way to achieve the best result. Kelly, the manager, was super proactive and continued to offer assistance and ask if I needed anything. I love it here and think I have found my home for all things beauty! Thank you, Moxie Montclair! You are superior to every other salon out there!!!

I’m a monthly member at Moxie Montclair. The staff is super nice and they will always fit you in for your services, even if you book last minute like me always. Sparkle, Dona are my favs! But honestly all the stylist do a great job! If you need a good hair fix. This is the spot to go.

I have only had services with Mike and he is incredible. He looked at me and instantly knew exactly what to do you to frame my face properly. Not only an excellent hair cut that matched my constitution but he also did the most beautiful and modern curls. He told me they would last for several days and at first I didn't quite believe it but they did. It looked styled and so natural at the same time. Also, I told him I liked long hair so he just cut what he needed to in order to create what he had in mind for me. Amazing! I recommend Mike 100%.
