They had live singing with karaoke being displayed on the screens so everyone was singing along. Great ambience with a joyous crowd. Yummy food & a good selection of drinks. Will definitely be coming here again.

Decided to give this place a try because I was in the area and WOW! I'm SO glad I did. The food was outstanding. The service was amazing. I was worried about the pork chop being to spicy for me since I have a low spice tolerance but ordered it anyway. The amazing waiter brought out a small bit of the sauce they use for the pork chop just to make sure I could handle it. Five stars...highly recommend!!

Been here a few times. The drinks are right on. Food is flavorful and well portioned. Festive ambiance and fast, friendly polite service. Pay attention to the bill, They automatically added the tip and we were just a party of two

Really really good food. I am a vegetarian and there are very few options generally. But this place has really good options and very good taste. Must try this place. 08/09/2023 Update: food taste and presentation changed. No longer as good as before. They have everything premix now so you can not make changes according to your preference. I mean how hard it is to cook in a restaurant when guest arrives.

I had a great experience! The atmosphere, food and service was a 10/10. The decorations are so beautiful and I think this a great place for a girl's night out or just a general outing with friends. I had the Chimichanga which came with rice and black beans. It was deeelllicious😋

The quality of this place has really declined over the last two years. I came in today for an order of beef ribs, and they were practically raw. The second time they came out they were cooked beyond measure. I asked the manager to take the alarm off my bill since I didn’t eat it, and he refused. He offered me to make the meal a third time….. I opened my food to go, because I was running late and just saw that they gave me two ribs with no sides. But charged me for a full meal !! This is the third or fourth time this year coming to this restaurant and the food is literally just not as good as it used to be …. They ad gratuity when the service is terrible, and they refused to take items off the bill. The portion sizes are half of what they were previously.

My favorite place for delicious meals and best margaritas in the neighborhood. Visited this place several times for family birthday 🥳 celebration. Never disappointed. Staff is also very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The decor is super vibrant and fun, color and art everywhere. Went at 8ish on a Sunday night and was seated quickly. Heads up to introverts, people with noise sensitivity, the music was extremely loud...it was actually super jarring went I first walked in. You have to shout to be heard between songs...not a bad thing just something to consider. They have karaoke and a very fun vibe/atmosphere. I ordered chicken Nachos, which were a good size for the price and empanadas which are large and well filled, but the flavor was not my preference..had a vinegar background flavor. Again, not bad but not my favorite. Also had an horchata...very very sweet! They have lots of drink options and a pretty extensive menu. Would recommend for night out with friends/family, but maybe not a first date given the volume.

We were able to find parking with no issues. We were greeted and seated immediately. Service was perfect. Our server gave great recommendations for us and they were spot on. Our food came packed with flavor, so much so that I stuffed my face and didn't leave any to bring back. The drinks were good 👍 I ordered the Margherita (mango) with grand marnia and tequila. I would return for good authentic food with good company.

Great food and large enough menu for most people to find something to enjoy. I don't think most people would consider this "authentic Mexican food" but it tastes good. The food is consistent and the portions do compliment the price, although it's worth mentioning that some items are pricey. Full bar for those who enjoy that or thing but once again....pricey and not worth it in my opinion. This place is always packed for dinner time and any sort of safety measures for the pandemic is mostly non-existent. Seems that most people are over it but it's worth mentioning. This place has the whole "trendy" feel to it which is why it's always packed. No real parking lot so you'll have to park down the street or around the corner.

It's a picture worthy, but the food wasn't so great :/ The rice and beans had no flavor. The only good thing in the picture was the chicken burrito. The Jamaica drink wasn't it; it just tasted like sugared water. The only good thing was the cute heart-shaped straw. The service wasn't bad, nor was it good - our server disappeared, and we had to ask others for things we wanted. Towards the end , we had waited 20 minutes just to get the check.

Beautiful place, good food and good service. Their cocktails menu has no prices. I ordered something that had their restaurant name in it. Turned out to be $40. Better ask before ordering.

My boyfriend and I went out to eat and when we arrived we parked on the street nearby. When we walked in we walked into a packed house. They had karaoke and a lot of birthdays. We decided to sit at the bar and Marilyn was our bartender and she was great. We started with our drinks and I got the red sangria and it was tasty. For my meal I got the vegetable fajitas and my boyfriend got the salmon. Both meals were very good. I sang a few tunes off key while I was there but it was a good time. I enjoyed my time at the restaurant and would return.

I went by myself and sat at the bar on a Thursday and conveniently it was karaoke! The drinks were delicious and the food was appetizing! I would definitely go back.

Food is very reasonably priced and portions are large. Fajitas are large enough for 2. Chicken enchiladas were good would have liked more sauce on top. Table enjoyed their margaritas and I enjoyed the Mexican Coke. Service was a little slow or would have given 5 stars.

I was just here tonight with some friends, and we didn’t get much but wanted to have somewhere to sit and talk. Two of us ordered mango smoothies, server brought us two virgin piñas. We noticed but we didn’t say anything, it’s two bucks extra according to the menu, whatever. We get the check at the end, we’re charged $10 per drink. My picture of the menu isn’t great, but the price is listed at $6 each. We bring this to the attention of the woman who brought us the check, she says there’s been a price change and that the menus just haven’t been updated. We say that it’s not our fault and that they should honor the price that they’re advertising. The only solution offered is for our server to absorb the difference. He didn’t notify us of the price difference, but he’s also not in charge of setting pricing or updating menus, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s not the only thing he has to remember while they avoid the update. Overall, this is a fault of the establishment, and it’s a very awkward position for them to put us in. We decided to not let him absorb that cost, but it shouldn’t have been on us to do that. The drink was nice, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Went after work during happy hour. Ordered the Perfect Patron Margarita...absolutely perfect! Then had the Supreme Fajitas (Chicken Shrimp and Steak)...delicious and a lot of food...could share for two!

Stop in for Taco Tuesday and they had karaoke going on. A lot of funny, great music and singing and the food is delicious . Very efficient and courteous staff. Drink specials during happy hour. For a midweek night out a great spot overall.

The service was great, but I have to be honest - you can get better tacos in Union, if alcohol isn’t a must-have. I happened to visit during a Karaoke night, which was unbearably loud and dominated the entire restaurant. Tacos were average, not bad but nothing special.

Hosted a birthday party here and everything was perfect. They worked with us with a food and drink menu which was more than reasonable. DJ killed it, staff was perfect and patient with everyone. Everyone had such a good night here. Vibes are amazing and fun. Not to mention drinks were fire and food was also very good. Thank you guys for the best night possible <3

Went to El Chingon yesterday with my husband for our Wedding Anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint! We’ve been here many times, but last night the bartender (a young lady) was on Fire! The frozen margheritas🍹were perfectly mixed. The food was fresh, tasty and delicious! When we informed our waiter that it was our wedding anniversary, Margarita the restaurant’s manager came to our table and surprised us with two tequila shots and a beautifully presented and delicious piece of tres leches cake. El Chingon Restaurant is truly a hidden gem in Union, NJ that everyone should visit…Soon!

Colorful decor and authentic Mexican food along with jumbo sized margaritas make El Chingon a fun dining experience! Service was very good and the food was delicious...plan to take some home as portions were a good amount! Manager checked in to make sure all was good too! Go early as this happening place has lines out the door!

The food was very delicious. The restaurant gets busy, but service isn't bad. I would definitely return. Good for a date night, night out with friends, or night out with family. Drinks are also amazing. 👌🏾
