I've
reviewed
the
Saga
before.
This
is
for
my
most
recent
stay:
I
organized
a
get
together
in
Pasadena
for
a
group
of
long-time
friends,
staying
3
nights
at
the
Saga
and
visiting
Huntington
Gardens
and
the
Norton
Simon
Art
Museum,
and
several
nearby
restaurants.
My
five-star
review
is
for
the
Saga
compared
to
others
in
its
budget
category
-
don't
expect
the
Ritz.
But
the
Saga
really
transcends
its
category
in
terms
of
comfort,
cleanliness,
and
the
friendliness
and
helpfulness
of
the
staff.
It
even
has
nice
landscaping.
And,
that
pool
with
the
palm
trees
and
bird-of-paradise
plants
is
a
wonderful
place
to
sit
and
have
one's
croissant
or
whatever.
It's
unheated,
so
it's
too
chilly
to
swim
except
in
summer,
but
in
hot
weather,
it's
great.
The
breakfast,
served
in
the
lobby,
is
continental-style
and
usually
includes
tea
and
coffee,
two
or
three
kinds
of
fruit,
yogurt,
instant
oatmeal,
mini-muffins,
croissants,
raisin
bread,
and
bagels,
with
various
spreads
available.
So,
it
isn't
bacon-and-eggs,
but
it's
all
fresh
and
will
give
you
a
good
start.
One
caveat:
the
elevator
hasn't
worked
in
years.
So
if
stairs
are
a
problem
for
you,
be
sure
to
get
a
ground
floor
room.
And
if
you
are
lucky
while
you
kick
back
by
the
pool,
you
might
see
the
flock
of
parrots
that
hangs
out
in
the
area.
There
are
great
places
to
eat
within
easy
walking
distance.
Teddy's
Tacos
is
right
next
door,
Northern
Cafe
is
a
Chinese
place
a
few
blocks
west,
Zankou
Chicken
is
just
a
bit
further
west
on
the
other
side
of
the
street,
Andy's
Coffee
Shop
just
a
bit
further,
and
for
dessert
get
a
bubble
puff
at
Boba
Puff
right
next
to
Northern
Cafe.
We
ate
at
all
of
these
and
all
my
friends
and
I
were
enthusiastic
-
loved
them
all.
And
there
are
numerous
other
spots
nearby
I
have
yet
to
try.
