I used to love Schooner’s. Been going for years, but it’s different now that Brian sold it. We are pretty sure that housekeeping came in our room and stole at least 15 pieces of our clothing. I’m so disappointed and disgusted. The bugs are so bad, the bathrooms flood when you shower, the tub faucet doesn’t work, no lightbulb in refrigerator and it also leaks water all over your food. My only assumption is since they plan to tear it down to rebuild, they just don’t care about it anymore. My family will never be back 😔

For being an older hotel can’t say enough good things about it. Room was clean. Everything was right there ocean, pool and great dining in local restaurants within walking distance. Most of all the service was great. Big shout out to Tracey who made our time much more enjoyable. Keep talking girl !!!!

I arrived at the Schooner hotel on Monday and had booked my room through Friday. The front desk guy was really nice and informative. The check in process was super fast. The walk to my room (109) from the reception office was quick and really pretty. There’s a court yard with lots of tropical trees and plants and the ocean being RIGHT THERE was breathtaking. I got to my room and was happy to see that it was clean, brightly lit, and had some modern upgrades to it cosmetically. I had read the reviews on this hotel prior to booking and I felt like I had a grasp on what I had booked: a small mom and pop hotel that’s been around for a while, very cheap, a little run down on the outside, but close to the beach. And that’s all true. My first two days were amazing - being on the beach is a game changer. There’s no doubt about it: the location is SWEET! It was nice to be able to be steps away from my room when at the beach - super convenient. Good service note to highlight: my friend had sat down on the edge of our king size bed and one of the bed frame feet broke underneath him. We went up to the front desk and I told the guy about it before we left to go out shopping. He was appreciative that we said something, and by the time we were back from shopping, the bed was fixed! Unfortunately, we only stayed 2/4 booked nights. The weather in the area took a turn and we experienced heavy tropical rain. Because of that rain, the roaches came out. I’m not sure where they came from - the drains? Tiny holes? We spotted multiple, killed a couple. Then we both looked at each other and we KNEW we couldn’t sleep in that room with the cockroaches (everyone calls them palmettos, but rest assured, they are cockroaches). We quickly booked a room at a different hotel on Wednesday night for the rest of our stay. I called the front desk the next morning and told the guy that I left and I wasn’t coming back because of the roaches. He said “okay, I’ll refund you for last night and tonight” it was SUPER simple - honestly, it seemed like he was used to it. If you’re okay with sleeping with roaches, it’s a great location at a cheap rate. I, however, will not be coming back. I gave this hotel 2 stars because the staff was really friendly and the location is amazing. But I would not recommend this hotel to my friends or family because of the roaches. I recommend spending a little extra on a nicer hotel if you’re planning on coming to the area.

Shhh... Don't tell anyone about this cute little gem. I want a room here next year . All the amenities, kitchen, comfortable beds, and directly on the beach. Not like these other places that are beach adjacent. I think they use the term beach access. Not everyone will appreciate this stop in time. Classic building near all things beach. It's okay if you think things look run down and shabby. You can take your Hyatt/Radisson money else where. My family and myself can't wait to go back to the Schooner. A great historical beach hotel.

The location was really the best thing about this hotel. Our first night there was a half dead roach in the shower!😬 The sheets were VERY pilled and also stained. When we got there the tv volume button did not work and the volume was set at a very low setting so we asked them about it and they came to our room and turned it up but we still had no control of the volume. Everything was very dusty and the bathroom was gross. The toilet flushed every other time and was very low pressure. The reason we stayed at this hotel was because of the beach so if you don’t care about dust and roaches then I guess you will like this🤷‍♀️.

If you’re looking for the Hilton, don’t stay here. It’s a quiet, friendly mom and pop hotel. The location is perfect. Rooms are small if you plan on staying inside all day. Clean rooms and grounds. Staff very accommodating. Some good restaurants within walking distance. Pool is extremely comfortable, temperature wise. Would stay here again. Can’t beat price with the view.

Great experience! Loved the small town, persinal feel. Staff so friendly and helpful. Thanks Chuck and Tracy! Room was small, but perfect for 2 people. Microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot made for easy breakfasts and lunches. The bed and pillows were very comfortable

Service was top notch. Location is amazing. Beach was wonderful. I parked and walked around all night. Hotel was spacious, especially for the price!! Wow! Sure, some things were a bit dated...but overall easy 5 star experience! I will be back, 100%.

The service is excellent. The location is right on the beach. The room is small but offers a kitchette, refrigerator and coffee maker.. the room is small but is very comfortable. The grounds keeper was always on it and the staff were really nice. The hotel could definitely use an update but overall for the price and view, It was very nice for a quick week on the ⛱️.

Horrible experience, the staff was nice but the room was extremely run down, no door seal on the bottom of our door meant we had bugs in our room on several occasions. The beds left my back sore, and the room Itself was in a state of disrepair. Not to mention it seemed like every other guest was a chain smoker with poorly behaved ankle biter dogs, though admittedly that’s not the fault of the hotel, but perhaps the dirt cheap prices. You get what you pay for I guess.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but this hotel needs some serious help. The room smelled strongly of some kind of cleaning spray when we arrived (which we later realized had to have been bug spray) and the hotel room was very run down, even with the attempts to upgrade. Floor tiles cracked, couches ratty, sliding glass door fogged over and unable to be seen out of clearly (which ruined the ocean view we paid extra for). The really bad thing was the roaches that came out at night! First night we only saw 1 and killed it. The second night we had 6 large roaches come out of the kitchen/bathroom within about 10 minutes. We literally packed our bags at midnight and drove the 3 hours home instead of sleeping there again. The beach access is amazing and the ocean really is right there off the hotel, but I can not recommend this hotel at all. Staff was nice during check in, and it's super close to plenty of things. I just wish the rooms weren't trash.

Most of all its on the beach and the view is breath taking. There is a pool and big hot tub. They will let small pets come along for the same price. There is a little bit of everything around you and great restaurants. The inside was nice, clean but the bed was NOT comfortable. Hard as a rock, but if you like that, then this is your spot. Decently priced for beach front!

It's one of my favorite places to stay.... affordable, great view, and no resort fee....parking fees or any other silly charges. Clean room, nice location, and great staff.

The views and location are excellent. The property itself could use some polishing though. Small things like missing light fixture globes, or the strings on the blinds missing and/or broken could be fixed. As the hotel is in a damp location being next to the gulf, wiping the accumulated grime off the window frames would also help boost the appeal. Overall I wouldn't stay again, but I also wouldn't recommend someone not stay. The staff is friendly and helpful, it's just not for me.

Perfect for me. So close to the water. Excellent experience. Love the sunsets from the rocking chairs.

This motel is a dump. Mold smell all in our room. Bathroom still had hair in the shower plus mold. None of the appliances have ever been cleaned. If it hadn't been for my granddaughter being with me I would have demanded my money back but she so wanted to spend a night at the beach. The nicest part of the hotel was the pool area and being close to the water.

Worst place we have stayed at. Smelled funny. Mold on the bathroom ceiling that they tried to cover with paint. My wife has been coughing with a sore throat since. AC needs work. Load guests drinking till after 11. $300 for what?

This is a wonderful hotel with wonderful staff. You cannot find a better location. The price is more than fair too. You will not be disappointed here. Great pool and hot tub also!

Low key, cozy little hotel right off the beach. Very nice staff and easy check in process. Clean rooms and the ACs work great.

Front desk associate was super helpful, accommodating, kind and professional. This establishment is under new management and they are fixing and updating many previous issues with property. Room was perfect and cozy with a stove sink small table toaster coffee maker pots pans ect. Living room was lovely and we had a view of the ocean which I was informed the trees were cut back so the view was created just recently. Staff was kind and efficient. Only 40 feet to the beach and you can fall asleep to the crashing ocean waves. For the price and services, accommodations this hotel was great. Thank you

Could definitely use an upgrade soon no power near beds fan almost fell down from the ceiling water pressure sucked but pool and hot tub was good.. not to many options in the soda machine but it's on the beach super nice at night and great view from top floor..

Room was nice, but dated. Did share the room with a roach. And probably more than one. The weed smoke coming through the vents was a little more than my family and I bargained for. Staff is nice though.

Nice location did not tell us room they selected for us was impossible to stay asleep in after 6 am due to traffic noise! I had already unpacked everything before finding this out but they surely knew person in room next to us was fortunate enough to ask for another room as clerk told me when I checked out.

Nice rooms, clean, comfortable with grills/smokers spread all around the property. Nice staff, people friendly, beautiful pool and spa, with the best beach, sand and dunes. It's the place to go to relax, have fun and enjoy the surroundings! Right on the beach. Good restaurant across the street. Larry & Carol
