Not a bad place to eat, the cabbage salad could use more salt and vinegar honestly, but not too bad! I would watch out for your bill though. Make sure it adds up! I ordered 4 Nacatamales ($9 each), one slice of fried cheese ($4), and an order of fried plantains with fried cheese and cabbage salad ($8), that's a total of $48 but yet, I was being charged $85. When I asked why so much, I was told bc of 6% taxes (I thought it was 7%?). I did my own math and showed the lady how much the correct amount would be. She said fine, but then she said she didn't charge me for the side of fried cheese, which she most certainly already had. I offered to do the math again and she said "Forget it, I have a headache already". For what I ordered and including 7% taxes, the total should've been $51.36, but yet the lady charged me $53.50. I had my child with me, and I was ready to get out of there. Looks like she charged me for her tip without letting me know? Who knows! But not going back, and I was looking forward to having a local Nicaraguan restaurant near us! Maybe it was a mistake, and if it was, she could've just easily apologized and offered to do the math again instead it felt as if she was trying to justify the $85 that I most certainly did NOT spend/ordered that amount of food.

Great service, delicious food and hefty portions. We ordered Carne Asada and Chancho con yuca (Fried pork and yucca). We were even given a free cupcake for the grand opening. Definitely recommend!

First Nicaraguan Iโ€™ve been to here in the Tampa Bay Area & might I say this is truly a hidden gem! We were so pleased with the delicious food. We both got steak and onions with rice and beans and it tasted just like home cooked food. We will absolutely be coming back! We loved it!

Nicaraguan cuisine is pure comfort food! El Nica served up some amazingly delicious seasoned Carne Asada, complete with rice, beans, fried cheese, cabbage salad and plantain chips. Their fried Tostones with cheese was tasty and that fresh passion fruit juice just refreshingly hits the spot! Must check out this place and see for yourself.

Everything was amazing! From the service to the food, it has a family feel you canโ€™t get everywhere. You can tell they care about what they make for you! Great little spot which can be missed but you are missing out. If you want authentic Nicaraguan food and youโ€™re in the Tampa/St Pete/Pinellas area, make the trip to El Tio Nico!

Cute place! Kids area that is perfect for the little ones. Nice selection of food. We both had breakfast bagels with egg and cheese. BF had a blueberry protein shake. I had a cappuccino. Delish!

Was in town visiting family and havenโ€™t had Nicaraguan food in years found and Theo restaurant online and it was totally worth the visit. Everything was authentic, delicious and extremely pleasant atmosphere. I highly suggest stopping in and grabbing a bite to eat. The owner was willing to ship me Nicaraguan Cookies to me in New York. Iโ€™m very appreciative and look forward to coming back.

Nice and cozy. Food is made fresh per order unlike other typical Fritanga restaurants where most of the meat is already cooked. Had the Gallo pinto, with carne asada, plantains, and fried cheese. Delicious! Will be going back this weekend

Very kind and home like atmosphere. Fresh and delicious food. I had the carne asada and the meat was well seasoned, marinated. Hits just right when you need something honest and down to earth.

El Nica has great food and customer service. Before, you would of had to travel to Miami for Nicaraguan food. Will be back again !

Awesome food and service. Feedback for owners. Turn down the music so patrons can hear each other speak.

Pretty decent Nica food, especially when there isn't any at all nearby. Perhaps my only "complaint" are the enchiladas. The enchiladas we received today are NOT Nicaraguan enchiladas. They're a mixture of Colombian empanadas with a little bit of the Nica flavour. As a chef myself, I always like to be fair. Flavor was pretty good, but definitely felt a little heartbroken when we got served 3 small empanadas. For reference Enchiladas (real Nica enchiladas) are made with tortillas, stuffed with rice, beef and curtido. They are then fried and are about the size of your hand, maybe even larger depending on the region. Regardless, food had flavor and the cacao was delicious ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฎ

The food was so good. After being here once, it is already one of my favorites.

Meat was tender and tasty, gallopinto (rice & beans) was fresh, and fried cheese delicious. Been looking for a Nicaraguan go to place in our Tampa Bay area, and I think we finally got one that compares to some of the good ones in Miami. Definitely will be back!
