What a well-thought and designed place to shop, walk, jog and/or dine. Take a walk around the lake, feed the geese, make your kids run in the playground and then have a lunch or dinner. Target and Kohl’s, along with other boutiques are close by too. Plenty of parking.

Great spot for a bite to eat and a stroll along the boardwalk. Had lunch outside at the Silver Diner overlooking the water and it was a perfect afternoon. Lots of food options or go for a ride in one of the paddleboats. There's also a carousel and playground.

Fun place to shop, eat and play! Lots of great shopping, yummy restaurants and fun places for families. There are paddle boats, carousel, playground, etc for the kiddos. We’ve enjoyed the candy shoppe, cupcake place, and a few of the restaurants. There’s also a movie theater and other fun attractions

Perfect place for an outing or a date night. There are shops, restaurants and even a theater. You could even go for a stroll on the boardwalk/walking trail going around the lake. There's a playground too and you could even go boat paddling (closed in winter). It becomes very lively in the evenings and we loved the atmosphere. Overall it was a fun place!

One of the best happening place in Gaithersburg. Good place to chill out with kids and friends. We can take a walk around the lake and lots of restaurants over here. 30$ they will charge for the padling boat and it will be fun ride for kids. They have AMC movie theater and many different cuisine restaurants. Also over the evenings they have the live concert, many people just loved it.

When Rio opened, my kids were young and we went a lot, but I honestly didn't go for awhile. In January I started going to meet some friends to play Pokemon - if you like that game, this is a really great place to play and I was impressed because they have added a lot of new restaurants and fun features. It has been nicely revitalized and is a great spot for all ages. There are plenty of different foods and treats, activities for kids, free concerts, paddle boats, movie theaters, big play ground and carousel, plus a walking path around the lake where many people walk their dogs. Sprinkled throughout the property are nice sitting areas, bronze statues and other art pieces, it is nicely landscaped with lots of flowers. Ducks and Geese are always about, and there are machines you can purchase food from if you'd like to feed the ducks. It's a beautiful place 😍 there is an arcade and a movie theater. Not just that, they have many great food places and a bookstore. Perfect place to have with friends and family or go a date!

Great area that feels more like vacation. Lots of business closed and some new businesses came in. Happy to see some life and activity. Tried True Food and they were good.

Its a nice place! reminds me of echo park way back in LA but with much more greenery. At day, there are a lot of people there but at night, the exact opposite. There are a lot of good shops there also. I really like it.

Sometimes you just need a manufactured gathering place, with shops, nice chain restaurants and cute swan boats and a merry-go-round for the kids. It's all very pleasant and the perfect place for 14 year old you on a first date, or now you if you just want to eat something pretty good and not be in your domicile.

Good place to walk and enjoy outdoors. Three stars because it’s a small area and not worth the long drive. Good if you live close by.

First time here and I didn’t even know this area existed but it’s so beautiful. Great walking trail with plenty of things to do for the family, date night or even solo. Lots of restaurants, shopping, movie theater, hotels, playground, etc. It’s a beautiful place and I’ll definitely be visiting again

This is really happening place, especially at night. The area around the Rio Lake, looks really mesmerizing, calming and relaxing. You will spot a lot of ducks, swimming and enjoying in the lake. There are multiple restaurants nearby for dining-in, few adjacent to the lake and few are on the same lane/street, connecting the lake. You can find Italian, Mexican, American, Indian cuisine restaurants in this area. There is also AMC movie theater, Kohl's, Target, Xfinity stores in the same street, in case you wanna go there too. Also, there are so many public parking spaces in this area, that too free of cost, in case you don't find parking in one space, do check that out in the other one. Lot of options are there. The whole ambience and crowd in this area is so good, that you would never ever be disappointed from me, no matter how many times you visited here.

What a vibrant place... One can take a good walk around the lake (around a mile).. This place has few restaurants around the lake.. Plus place to sit, chill... Went on a weekend and it was lively and colourful

Since my family and I moved back to Maryland in June 2023, Rio Lakefront has been one of my favorite places to visit. Not only does it have a movie theater and a variety of shops, but there are so many adorable fish and geese swimming there. Plus, the view is nice too. It’s definitely the perfect place to go out on a date especially, either by yourself or with a significant other(s). Yes, I interpreted that last part loosely, thank you very much!

Great theater. I would have given them 5 stars except the last two times we've been there my wife's seat didn't work well. Otherwise a very nice experience.

A beautiful boardwalk dotted with a mix of restaurants and fastfood places. There's also a carousel.

Wonderful part of the Downtown Crown Community. An amazing and walkable atmosphere with great restaurants, shopping, scenery and people. You can go to Target, Barnes and Noble and then get Indian food, or the best cinnamon roll, or coffee within a short walking distance. You can hit the gym, get a haircut, or meet a friend for a nice lakefront meal at a local restaurant. Also, a gorgeous place to visit during the holidays due to the lights and atmosphere!

Nice getaway in Gaithersburg it feels like you are not in Gaithersburg plenty of well known restaurants and newer ones opening. The Rio Lakefront has two Marriott hotels of course the famous lake to walk around there is a large open playground and the carasel that is opened during the summer months plenty of live entertainment like AMC and Friday night concert series highly recommend for date nights, family outings or singles who just want to get away

Great place to hang out for a good lunch or dinner. The waterfront is serene and beautiful.

We were here for a movie on Father's Day, but saw the boats on our way in. We had to see what they were all about and this was a great way to spend $30, creating memories with the kids and disappointing hungry geese. If you plan to go, bring some food for the birds (and turtles) or coins to purchase feed from the boardwalk vending machine, I'm sure it would only add to the experience!

Spacious playground with various types of entertainment for the kids; from slides, early childhood musical instruments, state of the art merry-go-round, easy fall surfaces, mazes, etc. There's also a carousel nearby, over looking the man-made pond and restaurants: ($6) per kid. Lots of parking behind Uncle Julio's.

Rio is a great place to take the kids with plenty of restaurants and activities to do with them. There are paddle boats for rent, a carousel, and a big playground that has a lot of interactive features such as pipes you can hit to make music, steering wheels, ramps, ropes, slides and more. It was a surprise to see a merry-go-round - which seems to have disappeared from playgrounds these days - and the kids really loved it. There is a covered pier with machines where you can buy duck and fish food to feed the many geese and ducks that use the lake. A few GIANT chairs surround the lake, providing fun photo opportunities. For Pokemon Go players, it is one of the best places around, with plenty of pokestops and gyms, and many players around to help win raids.

Pretty much a daily starting point walk for my dog Roland and me. Great places to walk, relax, meet other folks. Excellent restaurants, shops and places to go. 1/1/2024

So beautiful. Renovated and more attract, though they removed the beautiful bear statu... I heard that it was due to COVID. Nevertheless beautiful atmosphere

(September 3, 2022 at 11:58am) The one place that doesn’t change when it comes to atmosphere & energy. I love going to the movies & ultimately I love to just come here to get a clear peace of mind. It’s really relaxing & a good place to go to calm your nerves. I use to work at the Starbucks but it seemed like it closed or moved.
