I waited several months to see what I thought would be a psychiatrist. Instead I was given a Nurse Practitioner. She was rude to me from the moment I walked into the office. The "evaluation" of maybe 20-30 minutes of basic psych questions consisted of mumbling and speeding through options - which seemed to cover all mental conditions, not the reason I was seeking help. This verbal format is a challenge for me to understand and remember verbal cues and questions to begin with - BECAUSE OF MY MENTAL ISSUES - she seemed annoyed with my asking her to repeat the options. MULTIPLE times she made exaggerated faces at my answers, signed heavily, and literally rolled her eyes at me. She seemed to not believe that I could possibly be dealing with some conditions because I have higher education. When I asked about a formal evaluation, she told me they "don't do that" there and quickly named off a different type of institution that I had never heard of, and gave no additional info on how to contact them to set up formal psych testing. Through the entire ordeal, I was on the verge of tears, and could not get out of the office and away from her quickly enough, I came close to walking out mid-appointment. She offered to up my existing Rx, and told me that I would need to book another appointment with her in order to continue on the medication I have been on for more than a decade. Frankly I would rather not be medicated than to ever have to speak to this person again. I left the appointment feeling judged and humiliated, and sobbed in my car the entire drive home. This woman should not be working in mental health, with people who are vulnerable and seeking help. If I was in a worse mental place, this experience would have sent me over the edge. They should be ashamed to have this person working there, because she is a danger to patients.

I realize this is a city hospital that deals with a large socially-economically distressed population, but thier service leaves a LOT to be desired. Please note that I have found a very competent psychiatric nurse practitioner. My complaints do not lie with the actual providers. Thier administrative staff and those who answer the phone are SERIOUSLY lacking in basic customer/patient service. I have had multiple problems. The two that are most notable: 1) The hold times to talk to even a basic receptionist are outrageous. This is a consistent issue. Today however was inexcusable. I was on hold for 22 minutes (according to my cell phone minute counter). That in itself is not the issue. After waiting that long I was then dropped into another line to be put on hold for an additional 7 minutes. When someone did answer; it was just the general hospital operator that answered. I WAS KEPT ON HOLD UNTIL THEY CLOSED! Instead of just answering and then offering to take my information to call back the next day, they just dropped me on the poor hospital operator. The general operator then has to deal with very upset patients. Please keep in mind that I didn't start my call at five or less minutes to closing. I would be annoyed, but more understanding in such an instance. I understood that the operator was not at fault and I reacted as such. The operator did inform me that this occurrence is rather regular! 2) The few times I have been to the psychology/psychiatric department desk at the main campus: I am treated with the attitude that I am a criminal or someone out to do something wrong. I was there as a patient seeking care. I gave the staff absolutely no reason to distrust or treat me differently/poorly. I realize that with being in a psychiatric department, not everyone who is waiting to be checked in is always going to be pleasant or fully rational. That is no excuse to not maintain a pleasant or at the very least a professional attitude towards the patients. If the administrative staff feel threatened by their job; they need to either work in a different department, resign, or have management post a security officer in the waiting room. It is not the job of administrative worker to be a "parole officer."

Since I told worker #2 that I didn't want to see her again because an unknown party was also billing for the same time, they banned me for life. #1 just told me to call 211. This was after waiting 3 months for an intake appointment and another 2 for an appointment. Worker #2 just wanted to talk about her own favorite subjects. The intake appointment was throrough.

I started here as a pediatric patient. My previous counselor had to leave due to their residency program and I was held on a waitlist. This happened in June of 2020. I was told my new provider would be with my by July to August. After multiple phone calls of sitting on hold for hours, I received not one answer nor did I ever receive any calls from their end. My doctor also GHOSTED me so I no longer had access to getting prescriptions. I aged out of pediatric in April of 2021 and by May after seeing my primary care provider, was placed into adult psychiatry. It is now nearly September of 2021 and I haven't received a phone call or anything. My referral is still sitting in MyChart as incomplete and not reviewed. Long story short- don't go here if you can help it. I've been going over a year without my medication and have come awfully close to being hospitalized again due to their negligence.

I have tried for over a year to get my children seen. I finally after multiple tries had a phone call that went to voicemail due to being at work. I called back and of course again nothing. They even had the nerve on mychart to show they had a missed phone appointment for me on the day they did finally call. I had to call my insurance to make sure they didn't claim money from them which would at that point be fraud. I finally gave up and just have to hope I cam have better psych options that are covered in the future seeing as I have to mostly go to metro doctors to have coverage. Everything else with this hospital system is wonderful just useless for childrens psych help. Apparently mental illness isn't important to them.

Way better than other psych departments I've been to. For one you have regular access to the doctor team as opposed to them just coming and doing rounds in an hour and leaving. They are around all day. Their rounds are actual meetings with you not just check ins. The food isn't the best, but it's better than other places. The beds are decent too. The staff can be a little indifferent towards you if your behavior isn't the best, but if you are respectful, they are for the most part nice and respectful back. Should the need for me to be back in a psych department come up, I'm definitely picking metro again.

The lady that answered the phone stated they have such a long wait list they can’t even make any more appointments. Plus they didn’t want to accept an outside referral and wanted us to switch to their pediatricians. Ummm no.

Don’t waste your time seek mental health from somewhere else as they’ll just cancel and reschedule every appointment to the point of you not being seen properly.

Uninterested in actually helping. They have some dumb policies on certain medications that keep you coming back and will otherwise deny you refills. They treat your mental condition like it’s business. Cold and uncaring. I have given this place too many chances already.

They are very unprofessional and very unorganized and they are supposed to help people with their mental health problems and health problems smh.If they can’t even get their own stuff together you know they can’t be trusted to handle other people’s needs

Metro has the worst mental health department that I have ever seen. They have done NOTHING for my wife. I can write to Dear Abby and get better results!

Very disappointed in the psychiatric help that my daughter has received ( none ). Drs we’re told about her hearing things about her from tv and that people are constantly coming to get her and take her away.

My sister goes to metro behavorial after getting appt after appt changed she is now being denied medication because the Dr. Said it's too early, even though cvs said no not too early. This is a medication that cannot stop suddenly and it will be days before she gets it. She already has a seizure disorder. I thought that these Dr.'s were supposed to help people. They don't. I dont think it's right for them to decide what day you should get. We never had trouble with cvs only her
