Joined this church 15 years ago. The joy, acceptance and compassion that starts with Pastor Kelly Brill is prevalent through the whole congregation. The mission work, the youth program are just a few of many programs that draws new members in all the time. You are welcomed, needed and loved at OUR church.

Jack and Jill preschool is a nice caring place. Mrs Melody Rice does a great job overseeing the kids.

Attended Christmas Eve service. Just visiting with family. Went in with reservation having attended other UCC churches. And of course most of the things I expected occurred. Female minister with a male persona who preached on the church's business partnerships rather than salvation. A very overt equality gospel throughout the service. A pre communion (of which I did not partake) video showing shots of gay couples. Songs which no one could actually sing along with except for Silent Night. Just a real disappointment to the Gospel of salvation by faith and repentance. The minister actually said Jesus did not come to judge people. Wow. Read the Bible. And He did call out sin such as the woman with 5 husbands. He said her sins were forgiven but also admonished her to sin no more. Anyway expectations fully met here.

OK - I am biased - let's get that out of the way right away. I am one of the pastors here at ALUCC. But a review online isn't just about the pastors. The church is, after all, a community of people in service to one another and to God. ALUCC's motto is "Growing People to Serve God and Others" and it shows in everything the community does. If a person wants to be involved in local mission work, they can easily plug in here. If they want to come to bible studies, book studies and other small groups, this is a great place to be. If they want to be a wall flower, then that is ok, too! There is a thriving Children's ministry, youth ministry and family ministry. ALUCC HAS a true traditional service with impressive organ music and also a service with a worship band if that is more your speed. Avon lake UCC is a "Big Tent" church, and we openly welcome people with different theological, political and social backgrounds and ideas - this can make some people a little uncomfortable being around people that don't think exactly like they do. That's ok. That's how the world is, and that's how Christianity works. The goal is to point people to the message of God's saving love through Christ, who welcomes all people. I'll leave the reviews for the pastors to other people since I can't be objective (Ha!), but as far as the church community is concerned, they are a 5-star bunch!

This church has been a huge part of my life for a very long time. Everyone is so welcoming. The church itself is very accessible, with wide walkways, handicap parking, and places for wheelchairs to sit during service. This church offers a lot of information about mental health and wellness which is very important. This church has a community like no other and is perfect for every one!

Beautiful church on a great piece of property. Had a great wedding with the reception in the hall on sight. What a great venue for a wedding. Novanty catered the food. Great time had by all.
