The location and grounds are beautiful. Service impeccable, my only complaint is the walk from underground parking to check in, my God😱. As others have said the property is expansive. They do offer Valet right in front, but if your self parking be prepared for a walk. The rooms are nice, overpriced in my opinion. Your paying for the location, so keep that in mind. Lovely pools, beautiful golf⛳course, and a few dining 🍛 options. Definitely worth a visit if you desire some peace and pampering🏜️

Be prepared to spend a bit of money. The food and drinks are way overpriced! However, the facilities and grounds are beautiful. Great place for a family summer vacation! My only real complaint was about a broken water drain that had sharp rusty points exposed and sticking up near the entrance to the water slide. It was a real hazard and staff did nothing when it was brought to their attention. It was a true liability and I'm shocked the hotel staff didn't rush to mitigate it

I recently had an unforgettable experience at Star Pass Marriott, and I can confidently say it deserves a glowing five-star review. From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the amazing facilities that left me in awe, unlike anything I've seen in the desert. The rooms were nothing short of incredible, providing a level of comfort that made me feel right at home. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every need was met, making the stay even more enjoyable and relaxing. The bartenders at the resort were not only skilled at their craft but also very sweet, adding a delightful touch to the overall experience. And let's talk about the lazy river—what an awesome feature! It catered to both adults and children, creating endless moments of joy and relaxation. Star Pass Marriott truly offers an oasis of luxury and enjoyment, making it an exceptional choice for anyone seeking an unforgettable desert getaway. I can't wait to return and create more beautiful memories in this paradise!

I didn't take as many pictures as I should of but that means I was living in the moment and having fun!! My bf came into town and booked us at the resort and I absolutely loved it!! From the room to the lazy river (much needed) to the restaurants, to the golf courses to the room 😉 It was a trip to remember. Everyone who worked there was mindful and very attentive to every and all needs. The restaurants had great food we mostly ate at the Signature and I took 1 picture of my Salmon and acorn squash with a pomegranates and pomegranate sauce. 🫡 THANKS TO THE CHEF! I will be taking a trip with my friends soon!.... Almost forgot the views were exciting, we saw a group of deers 🦌 and other beautiful desert animals! With an amazing view of the stars and moon as well!

As our first visit to JW Marriott, we were immediately blown away by the exceptional level of service. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of our stay was taken care of. Their attentiveness and genuine hospitality truly made us feel special. Whether it was the personalized recommendations for local attractions or the prompt room service, the staff at JW Marriott exceeded our expectations at every turn. While we don't take many vacations, when we do, our number one rule is to create lasting memories, and JW Marriott delivered on every aspect - from cleanliness to service to the incredible dining experiences. We can't thank the staff enough for making our vacation so memorable. Thank you, JW Marriott

My family and I visited the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa on several occasions over the last 10 years, including two times for Thanksgiving, and always enjoyed our stay. The grounds are lovely, with scenic views of the surrounding countryside, large pools, and an ample golf course. If you are seeking a comfortable retreat in a semi-rural environment, where you can enjoy an evening drink by the fire, and gaze out at the city lights in the distance, yet still enjoy all the convenience of a full service hotel, look no further than this property.

The staff here is great! They helped our large group out for last minute rooms, and they were extremely flexible when we had to stay longer. They helped us out so much. Everyone in our group loved the restaurants and the pools/lazy river as well.

Pretty fun place. My 2 kids had a blast. Plenty of good food everywhere. Pools are nice. Easy property to navigate. The live music was a bit too much. Loud obnoxious singer doing cover songs. Sort of ruined the chill desert vibe. Will definitely be back.

We stayed at The JW Marriott Starr Pass in Tucson for two nights in January 2022; check-in was smooth and hassle-free and the rooms were very clean, comfortable and spacious! The grounds are well-maintained and the restaurant provided excellent food and service. Being that we were there during early January, the hotel was very quiet and so relaxing! Highly recommended!

Hello Reaching out to you as a regular guest at the JW Marriott resort in Tucson Even though I live in town I have had many family members stay and enjoy the resort We were there this weekend and went to the signature room on Sunday for lunch Service great food was good But the fact that the air conditioning is still broken after a year and a half is just inexcusable! According to the app on our cell phones the dining room was 81° today at 11:45 a.m. Not only was it extremely uncomfortable for your guests but your poor employees especially the ones working the line must be broiling. I understand the property has new ownership and I certainly hope they're going to invest some funds immediately into correcting the situation A less expensive fix would be to install two 2.5 ton mini split units at either end of the dining room this would supplement the loss of your in-house air conditioner and allow the restaurant to control their own more precisely This type of repair is vastly less expensive than replacing a chiller type system. In addition some ceiling fans added to the room would be very helpful. Coming in from the golf course or the pool you always expect the restaurant and bar to be air conditioned and comfortable and refreshing, it's unfortunate that this is not the case and that the problem has been neglected for a great length of time. We look forward to returning to the property soon and enjoying the dining room when it is comfortable Thank you,

I'm a proud platinum elite member and I've always held Marriott in high regard, which is why I chose to book a stay at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa from Dec 28 - Dec 30. The first night was awesome - I was upgraded to a room with a fantastic view. But, the second day brought a bit of a twist. The hotel manager informed me that I was being moved to a room that wasn’t just a downgrade from the upgraded room but was actually lower than the one I'd originally booked. He offered 60,000 points as compensation for the shuffle. While not thrilled about the room change, I appreciated the gesture and accepted. He even gave me his card to follow up. But, here’s where things went sideways. I reached out to him multiple times post my stay to see when the points would reflect, but never got a response. Later, when I connected with Marriott Customer Care, I was credited only 50,000 points on Jan 11, 2023, which is 10,000 points shy of what was promised. I've been a loyal member for years, and I've got to be honest, this experience left a sour taste in my mouth. It's tough when promises aren’t kept and expectations aren’t met, especially from a brand I've trusted for so long. I’d prefer not to mention the manager’s name publicly – my intention isn't to target individuals but to communicate my experience. However, this situation has surely impacted how I see the Marriott brand.

The JW is an amazing resort with a beautiful setting. This resort offers everything you would want for a vacation or just a day away. Well almost, because I had a extra charge on my receipt and they will not correct. I have called and talk to a staff member 8 times in the last month trying to resolve my issue. They claimed to have corrected my issue in accounting but have not returned an updated receipt. Although today, I was informed the issue was not corrected. I've attempted to contact the accounting department but I was unsuccessful. It appears there's an issue with the JW customer service. Once they have your money you become nonexistent. Please be cognizant of your charges as they may charge the room as you've already paid with your credit card. Before checking out, ensure your billing is correct because they will refuse to correct any issue once you have left.

Great location and amenities. Incredible views all over the property. Quick friendly service. The rooms are inviting. Can't wait to float on that lazy river again.

This is a beautiful resort with breathtaking views, amazing staff, and good food. I stayed here on a business trip with no car, so that was a setback for me because you'll have to have some form of transportation if you want to go anywhere. Nothing is close, so an Uber would be pretty expensive. However, that's also one of the wonderful things about this location is it's seclusion. We did morning exercises outside around 5 am. every morning, and it was perfect weather for it. UNTIL 9am or so, and you won't want to go outside unless it to jump in their amazing pool area. I'd love to bring my family back here one day.

Pretty nice location for this property. But the overall experience leaves much to be desired for the price. The checkin- the parking lot while connected to the property is a very long walk, and then the front desk made it sound like they were trying to get us a room with a view while giving us a room to the side with barely any views. Expected better service and some accomodations from the front desk staff for being gold members with 46+ days of stays this year. We were also just given a 1pm checkout despite the hotel being pretty empty. (2pm checkout is the norm for gold elite). The spa also closes very early in the day so we could not use it. The patio/Mexican restaurant staff and food was nice, and the staff grab and go place too. The spa hours are very limited too. The room was decent but nothing great, it was reasonably clean but not very clean, the coffee place closes at 6 and there is no fridge, coffee machine or microwave in the room at all. The rooms are also very dated, more of a conference center vibe than a resort. The bathroom sink was also clogged. The lazy river and pool area was decent but it's not very clean, the pool towels were not very clean either and there are no showers in the vicinity so you have to walk all the way back to the room. (While not being allowed to carry pool towels back) Overall 2* experience, I think I have had much better experience at comparable Hyatt properties. The location is great but the overall experience was pretty bad!

If you are looking for one of the best desert beauty viewing locals, you've found it. Surrounded by Saguaro, roaming wildlife (and even the occasional deer or lizard) you will find yourself basking in the sun, enjoying the luxurious views, and returning to a comfortable room that is just right at the end of your day. Hike? There's a trail head right on the main drive in to the front of the hotel. Bike? Bike lanes abound for road cruising, and while I was not able to partake this trip, there must be some stunning mountain bike trails in the area. If there isn't, they need to fix that. Pronto. And even if you just need to freshen up with a tasty water, visit with Fernanda (roll the R) and Rey at the bar just downstairs from the main lobby. You'll be glad you did. They are knowledgeable, professional, and friendly at a level second to none. And, as I don't drink alcohol, I only ordered club soda. And still got the highest level of quality service.

Nice resort featuring: * terrific walks in nearby hills amongst magnificent saguaros * very decent pool, river and a lap pool (but very hard to find spot to drop your towels at peak dates - the empty pool pictures in the review were made at 7am on Monday) * golf field * decent restaurants Saguaros and swimming at the same location make this hotel a great place to stay. The room we stayed in was OK, nothing extraordinary, nothing bad either. Breakfast buffet was really good, dinners were also good and relatively on budget. What was not on budget is everything in between - local convenience shop is charging really dearly. Snacks / drinks on site? Expensive, it seems that hotel is offsetting relatively cheap rooms by those prices.

The resort was lovely and the beds were super comfortable. I am a buyer in the mattress industry so I have very high standards. We were there for a Bedding Conference and had many people comment on the comfort of the beds! The staff was amazing. I was travelling with a friend who had a back issue on our day of checkout. He was in so much pain he could not walk. The whole staff was amazing and made a terrible situation as good it could have been. Hannah, the manager was amazing. She sprung into action, got us a wheelchair, changed our checkout time so he could rest until our flight, and sent a member of the bell staff with new keys and ice. Everyone was so caring and cordial. We were beyond grateful for all of the help! I would highly recommend JW Marriott Tuscan Starr Pass Resort & Spa. The site and staff are both top notch!

Beautiful grounds went there on a staycation day pass. We were there for about 30 minutes we got into the lazy river and it started to rain and we were kicked out of the pool! We were told there was lightning within 11 miles of the resort so we had to get out of the pool, and pick up our food order in the bar patio area. We both ordered the fish tacos, they were fried and a little doughy inside didn't realize they were going to be fried. They set very heavy in the stomach do not suggest them. We both ordered the prickly pear margarita. I am not a drinker haven't had a drink in 10 years but I really thought I'd deserved it. Don't believe there was any alcohol in it though it tasted very good. Two prickly pear Margaritas two orders of fish tacos $72!, $92.00 for 2 people day pass. This was the most expensive hour I've spent in my life, 30 minute pool time 30 minutes to eat. The walk from the self parking, is quite the distance! Believe the reviews I don't know what elderly people do or maybe somebody on crutches or a walker but they're not going to make it to the lobby anytime soon. Self parking is $10 but they don't tell you you can get a scan code so you get free parking so make sure you ask for that at the lobby. If you would like a good laugh over sticker shock, go check out the clothing prices in the boutique! Even though we had a very expensive hour we made the best of it walked in the rain and enjoyed each other's company.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at this hotel. We had a nice room that comfortably fit 4 people, a beautiful view of the mountains, and great amenities. We enjoyed the pool, the fitness center, and the restaurant. We even learned there was free laundry for guests! It's a bit out of town and not much is around, but the views are beautiful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We also loved the trails behind the hotel. We'd love to return!

Gorgeous property! Incredible views. Staff was overwhelmingly helpful and friendly. The common areas and outside areas were meticulously maintained. The room was much better than an average room. The only cons, hot water took a while to get hot and a room service tray was in my hall for 2 days, but neither affected my stay. We were there for a conference. The food was outstanding. The conference rooms were well laid out and staff was fabulous

Bring your golf clubs and play for free and a better than expected, challenging 9 hole golf course. The evening patio is an amazing experience to relax and enjoy the weather while having a drink and some food. The pool amenities were well kept and enjoyable. The rooms themselves were a little dated but still very nice and clean for the age of the property.

Beautiful resort. Top notch service, dining, golf. The patio during the evening is beautiful and relaxing, with million dollar views of the city. Rooms are clean and comfortable for a restful experience. Wake up to golf or a day on their lazy river, a great hike on one of the many trails right outside, for just sit and relax and soak up the sun. Plenty do and eat and the staff always is welcoming and friendly. Whether you are a local or from out of town, treat yourself to a stay here.!

Great resort in Tucson!!! Our experience at JW Tucson was excellent. Pools, gardens and lazy river were just what we were looking for! We were lucky that there was very few people everywhere which was good because most sunbeds don’t have umbrella or shade… Salud restaurant and breakfast restaurants were both meeting expected standards. On the downside, rooms need some renovation as the feel dated… Fitness room is perfect if that is important to you

Shout out to the staff of the JW Marriott Tuscon. Our father passed unexpectedly and me and the other two siblings had to fly to Tuscon quickly to start managing his affairs. This hotel served as an excellent "home base" that allowed us to start checking off the various boxes we needed to check to get everything situated. The staff was helpful in pointing us in the right direction in a city none of us were familiar with, and provided excellent accommodations and service during our stay. My siblings and I are grateful for their five star service and professionalism. I high recommend this hotel and will be back with my wife to relax and unwind!

What a great place to stay, eat, and explore. The rooms are a bit dated but still quite functional with nice beds and fantastic marble bathrooms. The grounds are exemplary and beautiful with many things to do for both adults and kiddos. Now, the food, it was tremendous! Much of my stay I was left craving a good meal. Not after staying here. From the Turkey Club to the Salads to the French Toast and Potato's Inhad for breakfast on my last day I was left happy and satiated. Will definitely be going here next time I am in town. A great relaxing spot where people treat you right is getting harder to find. This is one of them.

The property is beautiful. Valet is right out front and worth the money. Staff was helpful from arrival to departure, meals, drinks, pool, everything. We had a party and 4 or so rooms next to us up past 11 partying outside our patio door and they immediately shut it down politely when it got out of control. For a Marriot, this place is ran with absolute professionalism. Perfect stay

Beautiful resort. The kids love the lazy river. Has gorgeous desert mountain views. Starbucks on site as well as multiple restaurants. Very comfortable beds. I forgot my razor and they had one up to me in minutes. The breakfast at the signature grille was great. We enjoyed the outdoor patio and views. The good and service at the pool were also great, we loved the guacamole. Great cocktails.

This is a fine hotel, but not everything is it cracked up to be. Although it is nice and has great views, the actual rooms and hotel area is sort of in disrepair, quite dated at minimum. The air conditioning doesn't work quite right in many of the rooms, and it could really use a significant renovation overall.

What an amazing property, with even better service. Carlos at the front desk really set the tone right off the bat. He went above and beyond to make sure my experience was incredible. As a hospitality professional myself, I really appreciate his sincerity and attention to detail. You’re the man Carlos- JW Marriott is so lucky to have you-I will definitely be back again soon to see you!!

As you pull up, it looks like a cross between a prison and a mental hospital. Rooms are dated, beds older and starting to feel worn out. Main pool is nice, lazy River nice but water slide not in service. Very overpriced rooms for what you get and drinks / food are 5 star prices for below average fare. Place needs a remodel. With it being on the edge of town, you are stuck there. Uber to the city about $9-$12 so not awful. For the high prices charged, I felt cheated. WAY better places to stay with awesome food for 1/3 of the price. I did not golf so I can't speak to that.

I'm going to detail my review to why we were here. We were here to visit family but we're not staying at the hotel and we did not partake in any of the spa resort functions. We were just there to enjoy the music, have a drink, and visit with family. The bar environment is small but nice. It has a walk out from the bar so you can go out to the very large patio where there was live music on Friday night. We were there until closing and was a very enjoyable environment with great views.

I could not speak more highly of the JW Marriott Starr Pass and the staff who work at this gorgeous property, specifically Nicholas at the front desk. We spent a weekend here in October as it began cooling off, but still warm enough to enjoy the pools. Location was supreme for visiting Saguaro National Park along with other local hikes (even one right at the hotel), and the views at sunrise and sunset were excellent. The Sunset Tequila Toast was a fun tradition and the pretzels and beer cheese at Salud were also a hit. We had dinner at the Signature Grill which was delicious, and perfect for outdoor dining. I recommend waking up early and taking part in the Morning Ritual, which was a neat story. I hope we get to come back here one day.

I was at this property Nov 11-14. The property is mediocre at best. Certainly, it's comfortable, but it is in need of a remodel. It was annoying how small the showers were and that the shower head was scaled over so badly that the water sprayed uncontrollably and erratic. The resort fees are incredibly high for what little you get. The pool chairs are worn out, dirty, and many of them have spider webs on them. My friend was served seafood that was dangerously undercooked during one of our dinners. Our service at one of our lunches was so slow that I had to get up, hunt someone down to ask for the check so we could leave. We waited SO incredibly long. We felt ignored. We rented a cabana for the day, and that was a waste of money as the cabana was located no where near the pool, but by a lame dirty splash pad. The cabana's furniture was worn out and dirty, and it all together was underwhelming. I was there for a friend's birthday. She made all the reservations. Her first few days were a service disaster. However, all that changed when we met Heaven at the front desk. She was apologetic for the lack of service, and made everything right. She explained all that was included, where things were, and was so friendly. She was the brightest part of our trip. Second best were the 2 ladies working in the market place that makes pizza. They were delightful, friendly, and wonderful. I wish I remember their names, but I enjoyed talking with them while waiting for our pizza to cook, which they did an amazing job of making the pizza too.

JW Marriott was gorgeous. The property was expansive and there were lots of focal points that caught our eyes. The warm climate kept us outdoors almost the entire 3-day weekend and our balcony overlook a beautiful golf course which none of us ladies golf but we enjoyed our wine on the balcony saying hello to the golfers. We had an amazing time. The staff were attentive and informative. Guests were eager to chat and find out where we were eating and our ladies group grew to a nice round 12 I think! I can't wait to go back and explore more . Oh, we ran at 6 a.m. though because weather was dry and hot very early. Have fun!

This place was absolutely perfect for our mini holiday getaway. The service was spot on. We enjoyed the pools from 0700 to noon, then again from 1700 to close. It's nestled in a quiet but beautiful neighborhood that's close to shopping and 25 minutes to the closest outlet mall. They offered different activities throughout the day. My family will definitely go back.

I had a giant spider in my room but I didn't see him till I was checking out so it wasn't that bad but it's what you would expect being that far out in the desert! Other than that everything was beyond perfect! The staff and the place are always impeccable otherwise! I will continue to stay in this magnificent resort every year! It's perfect!

Amazing resort , marvelous landscape and incredible views. Top notch staff and service. I am here for a conference. The room were nice and very comfortable. The have numerous option of restaurants to choose at property. The pool very clean . They have complimentary 9-holes at Coyote Golf Course , free tequila shot in 5:30 pm and guided hike. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, luxurious stay.

Our dinner at Signature Grill was delicious, I had the salmon and loved it. Breakfast was great too. Half of our party did the buffet while the rest ordered from the menu. Our room was nice, but needed a bit of attention. There was a tile sitting loose on the floor in the bathroom and the faucet was loose making it difficult to adjust temperature. We told the front desk about the issues so it's likely been fixed. We really enjoyed the patio with the cactus plants outside. Our granddaughters loved exploring and learning about nature. I highly recommend JW Marriott Starr Pass!

Rooms: They are not modern. If you are going for any period of time, bring your own adapters there are none in the rooms. Parking: For as immense as this place is, there is very little parking and it caters to the event they hold. The valet will gladly park it for you for $35 each time you arrive, or it's about half to park it in the covered structure per arrival. Hotel: There are a lot of amenities for families or just people looking to relax. It’s really great to have restaurants and stores on site. be aware that if going on a weekend you’re going to run into a lot of weddings and other types of receptions and parties.

Second time there. Just love the lazy river and the pools. Enjoy poolside food and drink service and the evening Tequila toast. Buildings, rooms could use some sprucing up. Restaurants are good but breakfast is a tad pricey. Waiters and waitresses we very attentive, gracious and kind. It's a fine resort especially if you don't want to explore. There are many things to do right on the property. Hiking, swimming, golfing, Gym equipment and Spa services. 2 pools and a lazy river.

While golfing we saw a coyote, deer, roadrunners and quail. It was amazing. You definitely get what you pay for! Food and drinks were delicious. While we were there they had live music that resonated through the property. So romantic. Great place for families and couples. Cheers!

Amazing room, food and amenities. Staff was fantastic, especially the three men who helped the woman having a medical emergency on the patio, very calm, collected and professional. Thanks for the great stay! Room was amazing. Great views of the golf course.

I came for the lazy river! It's so much fun and a great way to relax! They even have a bar by the lazy river! They have a great variety of beer and trulys! I would recommend getting to the lazy river early because you might not be able to find a tube to lay on! The shade also gets taken quickly! We also ate at their breakfast buffet and it was around $28 for one person but we ate omelettes, fruit, posole (that was amazing) and it was so delicious! Highly recommend this resort!

Our family has stayed here multiple times. Really wanted to like this place- beautiful grounds, fun pool, lazy river, and water slide. The most recent visit to this resort gave our family of four all food poisoning. After I let the 'loss prevention' person know about it, they basically said to prove it and asked why don't you have a doctor note. Fun way to end a weekend away with all of us feeling terribly sick for 24 hours and the hotel representative telling us they didn't believe us.

I was here for a conference. Hotel property is nice with plenty of room to host large conferences and meetings. Views of the Tucson landscapes were nice. The room I stayed in was clean, though maybe a bit dated and worn. My limited interactions with hotel staff were all good and each were friendly and professional.

Stayed here 1 night. Room was nice, maybe a bit outdated furniture wise for some (not modern), but I don't mind that. View was lovely. People were friendly, especially the valets. My problem was the bed was like a ROCK!!! 🪨 Totally unable to sleep on it and slept in the side chair with ottoman and the floor. King bed room. Also, all the fees associated are a bit ridiculous as well (when nightly cost is near $400 and check in is 4p). I don't even know what the couple service fee charges are for on my bill. I didn't find it very handicap friendly either.

The pool was awesome with amazing views. The water is heated to 86 degrees! The drinks were good and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the lazy river. Floats are provided. Overall I had a great time relaxing.

I want to address the parking situation up top. I don't understand all the other comments saying the parking is "down the hill" or costs $10 per entry. Maybe they weren't actually staying at the hotel. The guest parking has a self parking option that is $10 per day, with in and out privileges. The garage is underneath the conference center part of the property and is about a 5 min walk to the main lobby. There is plenty of availability. As for the rest, the hotel has beautiful panoramic views of the city, especially at sunrise. The trails in Tucson Mountain Park across the road are also fantastic and you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere after just a few minutes of walking. The trade off is that going anywhere else in town takes 10+ minutes. The Signature Grill in the hotel has good food. We ate there twice for dinner and were pleased both times. The service was a little slow. As others have said, the guest rooms are dated. It feels like a 20 year old Sheraton. It does the job, but it could really use an update. If you have a room with a view, though, you hardly notice.
