Went there with 3 friends today to celebrate a birthday and watch a great band. None of us had ever been there before. First impression was great - fun atmosphere, great vibe. We were greeted immediately and seated promptly; we chose outside seating which they have definitely paid attention to in our desert environment, with mist system and shade screens where necessary to make it comfortable. Service was pretty prompt. Drink and appetizer orders taken pretty quickly, and water brought to the table right away. The problem came with ordering the food. Time of ordering was not a problem. We were able to order soon after finishing our appetizers. Since none of us had ever been there, we had questions about the food, in particular two of us were considering the french onion soup. There is no description on the menu, it's just listed in the soup/salad section as the only soup - " French onion $8" I asked specifically, "is it thick and creamy, or more like you think of broth, like clear and not thick?" The answer I got was, "Oh, It's a traditional french onion soup with the clearer broth. We don't put the croutons in the soup though, we give you like a whole piece of our bread in there". Sounded good to me, as I prefer the broth being, well just broth and not creamy like chowder. We both ordered it. It came in a bowl with the bread on the side. Nothing in the soup other than onions and broth (nothing traditional in our opinion - no cheese either). Well we tasted it. It was nothing other than sweet onions sliced and boiled to softness with some chopped chives included in the broth. Not a beef based broth like "traditional" french onion soup. It was so sweet - the other person asked for some pepper and parmesan cheese to try to help it. It didn't help. We didn't send it back, or ask for something else, but we did voice our disappointment with

Service was good. Drinks and food were good. They forgot to put the dressing on our salad. Pricey for what you get.

Artisan pizza, pasta and a few other options. Large covered outside seating area with heaters. I had the Proof Pizza (enough for two) and my companion a salad with grilled salmon (which was delicious). Shared tiramisu for desert.

...I've been coming here a lot during the last few months. I've had about 50% of the items on the menu and have not been disappointed once. Their boards are a must try. Fantastic Service. Try the expresso martini!

Another neat little hip place to check out in the Phillips Plaza with live music every single night. Dog friendly and featuring a decent menu with fast and friendly service from team members. Your pizzas wont have as much bang for your buck as competitors but feature a good selection to choose from, in addition to the mozzarella bites!

Proof has become my go to for a romantic dinner "in the mood for epic pizza." The food is excellent! Hands down the best pizza place I have experienced in years. Highly suggest the pizza with the name of the place if you're into a thin crust meat lover's style. Ask them to "add feta" if you like it... Classy place, live bands are playing outside during the evenings. Great patio if you dig live music, but request inside if you want a conversation with any person that joins you. ... It's loud outside! Music is actually pretty good... Service, I'd describe as simply decent. At least at my last visit. Definitely not waiters/waitresses pushing drinks to up the bill. They do though put a tablet on the table, with wine/beer/special cocktails. I wouldn't personally bring children to the place past say 5... It does get a bit busy, and they do not allow same day call ahead reservations. Call and just ask how busy they are. Found that highly odd, "table for two, at six please?" We only do reservations the day prior, sorry... I'd gladly give the food six stars out of five, four+ for the experience, two for the staff.

Great pizza, great cocktails, great environment. We were able to enjoy the live music on the stage in the plaza while remaining under a covered roof patio incase of rain and being far enough away that we could still hear each other. The food was delicious and had pretty standard prices for a artisanal pizza place. Staff was friendly and didn’t rush us out when we wanted to stay longer and listen to the band.

Really a nice spot. We had the antipasto board to begin with- admittedly a little bland, but a very generous portion. I'll go with a different one next time. Entrees were fabulous. Wife had the mushroom risotto, and I had the chipotle linguini with chicken. The risotto was perfect, but the linguini was a hair overcooked- flavor was great though. We'll be back!

We did not do pizza or pasta, we had an amazing spinach and poached pear salad. It was a good size and very filling.

Great pizza! Ordered the chicken tinga, which was inventive and really tasty. One mark down for the service, it was busy but our server seemingly took a full break during our dinner. The drinks were great, lots of variety there. I had a salad with dates and olives on it, which was a flavor combination I had not had on a salad.

Staff was not accommodating. We reserved a table specifically under the heater, and were seated outdoors with no heater. They tried to move a heater that barely worked to share between us and surrounding tables. These were tables that didn’t even ask for heat. Meanwhile we watched other parties of two be seated under the direct heaters where we had asked to be sat and were told “no”. No one cared to accommodate us, and we switched our order to takeout. The pizza is mediocre and would not recommend wasting your time with such poor quality service and low consideration for customers. Will not be returning.

.Very good...love the 1/2 salad 1/2 pizza.. they seem to be unable to bring the food hot to the table. .everytime I order the pizza it is never very hot.. like when you bite into it and the cheese sticks to the roof of your mouth ..you'll never have that problem here.. and once the lasagna came out room temp.... seems to be good food. But lack a lot of attention to detail

Good or bad. We eat out more than we probably should. This week we ate twice at North Italian at la encantada and twice at proof pizza. I have had this experience before at North where the food is inconsistent. On Monday we had the meatballs and spaghetti and on Thursday we had them again. It was if a recipe didn't exist. The first time the marinara was delish and the second time I was given clear tomato water and bland meatballs. In comparison, the meatballs at proof pizza had so much more flavor. I can here twice this week. I met my bosses boss for lunch on Wednesday and decided after last night's North experience, that family needed to experience the to meatballs at proof. Not only were they superior but the rest of the food was amazing. We had the Delmonico ribeye with the roasted seasonal vegetables, the reforma cauliflower crust, the Bolognese. Absolutely delish. We will back!! We also enjoyed delicious old fashions, Manhattens and fabulous tarimisu, and panna Cotta. Our waiter Brenden was attwntive, informative and sweet. The only flaw was we were initially met with a hostess that had no smile, no eye contact, and an attitude that her job was an annoyance. Thank you Proof, as i said we eat out more than we should and your food really was great and the experience was enjoyable.

Another great addition to the Union owned family of restaurants. As a GF person, I often avoid Italian and pizza restaurants because, well....Gluten. So I was pleasantly surprised by all the GF pastas, and pizza options on the menu, and of those I've tasted, I'm impressed! Also a huge fan of their bartenders, who clearly know what they're doing. They made some excellent recommendations and mixed up some concoctions worth returning for. Oh and don't get me started on the flourless chocolate torte. ?? Yum!

I met some friends at Proof last night. The food was delicious and the service was great. As I was leaving I realized I had a flat tire. Frank, the chef at Proof, was outside and changed my tire for me! He completely saved my night. He was so sweet and thanked me for coming to Proof. I will definitely be back!

Ordered pizza and salads for pick up and the pizza's were excellent. The only issue we had was it's monsoon season and when we walked over from our hotel right next door, it was pouring. The three restaurants there sit around a courtyard and all the entry gates were locked. It was ridiculous. We were soaked trying to figure out how to get in and out of the place. And it was only like 7:30pm. Thankfully there wasn't a fire or active shooter, or we may have been toast. With a hotel sitting in the same plaza as your restaurants, why was it so difficult to get in and out? We finally cut right through the middle of the Mexican restaurant on our way back carrying our pizzas! Maybe we were missing something, but every corridor and hallway we went down ended at a locked gate.

Outside cocktail seating area: We visited during mid week and requested to sit in the outside cocktail seating area due to the Soft cushions. We were told that we were not allowed to sit in that area because that was strictly for cocktail drinkers. We ordered beer and pizza and during our stay we were the only ones outside and no one showed up and sit in the cocktail area. Advise that you should change your policy to allow others to sit in that area when the area is vacant.

I've been watching Proof for a few weeks now and decided to give them a go for lunch. Kudos to their website and online food photos that look delicious enough to, well, eat! Anyway, I visited Proof at Philip's Plaza in Tucson for a late lunch at around 2 pm. The food: I tried the cheesy bread and the Polynesian Pie. First, the pizza. The pizza is about a 12-inch round and perfect for one person. You can tell this is an artisan pizza by the quality of the pizza crust and the freshness of the toppings. This crust is the perfect delivery vehicle for the toppings: soft, airy, and subdued, which allows the flavor of the toppings to shine. The pineapple, jalapeños, and cheese were fresh, tasty, and delicious. There was also prosciutto on the pizza, but the flavor of this ingredient was oddly absent. Still a great pizza, but I would like more prosciutto flavor. The cheesy bread was also good and had a nice garlic, cheesy flavor. I don't prefer the choice of crusty bread for this appetizer as having to gnaw my way through the bread detracted from enjoying the appetizer and getting to the cheese. Using a softer bread would have been better, in my opinion. Still good, though. The ambiance: Understated decor with both inside and outside seating. I sat outside in the covered seating area. There was a real New Orleans vibe going on because of the blues music playing. It rather took me back to NOLA. Great food in a relaxed, chill atmosphere. It looks like they do karaoke there, too. The service: Spot on, friendly, and attentive. You can tell the staff pays attention to the details and to their customers. So, overall, I very much recommend Proof to people who enjoy great pizza in a good environment. I would have given a 5-star review if the cheesy bread had been better, but that's my thing - I'm sure others like it as it is. Go there, relax, and absorb the scene of a great place.

Writing a review for this restaurant will be pretty exiting because honestly all the dishes are on point. However I’ll talk about the pesto pizza because it’s probably one of the best Italian pizzas I tried. Not too salty nor bland seasoned to perfection and the addition of red pepper flakes makes it 1000x better. Dough is cooked to the right point, melts in your mouth. Honestly I can sat this pizza every day. The parmesan chicken pasta was great 9/10 The mozzarella bites are soooo good and not greasy 10/10 The meat balls appetizer was alright it wasn’t well seasoned to my taste. Will definitely go again

Pizza & artichoke dip was 3.5-4 stars, but the salad & tiramisu were on point + the ambiance & service made it a five star lunch stop for me.

This was my second visit to Proof, and unfortunately, it left me feeling quite underwhelmed, much like my first experience. There's nothing particularly exceptional about this restaurant; the food falls in the middle of the spectrum. I ordered an Aperol spritz, which turned out to be lacking and rather watered down. The appetizers, salad, and pizzas were passable but nothing stood out, and some were on the greasy side. Service was decent, although it took quite a while to receive the check, even though we were the last ones remaining. Considering the quality of the food, the prices are on the higher side, and I don't think it's worth it. There are definitely better pizzerias in Tucson, and this one falls short, being rather average. Great atmosphere though, we were outside on a Thursday and they had live music.

First time here for the "special' menu for the 2023 Sornoran Restrauant week for $35 each Here is the special menu Choose one item from each course: Salad: Caesar: romaine, romano, lemon, garlic herb croutons, parmesan, Caesar dressing or S.W. Simple: mixed greens, purple onion, heirloom cherry tomatoes, cucumber, avocado vinaigrette Entrée: Roasted Chicken Chipotle Linguine: cream sauce, chipotle, roasted red peppers, romano, cilantro, roasted chicken, linguine or Speziato Serrano Spaghetti: roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, capers, spinach, red sauce, serrano, spaghetti Dessert: Mango panna cotta or Chocolate flan As a couple we had each one of these. Comments Salads: Caesar salad was a standard caesar salad, croutons were a little lack luster. The Simple mixed greens were really fresh with very tasty cheery tomatoes. Mains: I had the chipotle sause on the side with the chicken linguine. Generous amounts of chicken cooked to perfection. The roasted red peppers were delightful, sweet and softness matching the linguine. Glad I had the kitchen put the chipotle on the side as I could add the amount for my tastes as it does have quite a bit of heat. The Speziato spaghetti was in a red sauce and had a good amount of heat. In my opinion, not quite as good as the linguine. Deserts: Here is the surprize with the chocolate flan which turned out to be a chocolate cake, about 4" in diameter with a 1/4" of flan on top to serve as "frosting". Really great and it was a surprize. The Mango panna cotta was refreshing with chucks of mango. The service was outstanding. We will return. Hint: Check out their happy hour and Sunday's is 1/2 off bottles of wine.

There was a band performing in the little plaza next to the outdoor patio, tons of people dancing and drinking. Great ambiance. Service was amazing, Addison was so helpful and responsive! Food was delicious and the churro cheesecake was to die for!!

The food was good; we loved the appetizers: beverages good: service outstanding, but we didn't like the atmosphere - loud, open air mingled with bar next door that had live entertainment. Definitely not an"intimate" atmosphere

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. The bartender/server was inattentive and/or stoned. We had to get our own place settings. The food was mediocre. But the worst part was how dirty the place is. My friend will be posting photos of the disgusting floor mat and the pepper grinder covered in dust. I will never dine there again.

  • 3/5 Sarah K. 6 months ago on Google
We were interested to check it out and we decided that once is enough. The food was fine, but not worth the price. We ended up sitting at what must have been an outdoor table inside, a small table for 4 people in metal chairs. It was loud. I felt bad for the dating couples who seemed to be a little awkward and uncomfortable due to the seating. We would have tolerated all of environmental challenges for good food, and I think we were expecting more impressive meals based on the price. All four meals were very salty. The most disappointing was the cioppino. My husband warned me not to order it in Tucson, but for $27 I figured they would do a good job of it. It was a shallow portion of thin watery (and very salty) broth with some decent chunks of fish. Calling it cioppino was a stretch. The pasta dishes were fine, but too salty to finish and definitely not worth the price. We enjoyed our cute little pumpkin-shaped loaf of bread we got to go. My daughter liked her lemon bar. Maybe next time we'll just pick up bread and desserts to go. It seems to be a hot spot for meeting up with friends, but I wouldn't go for the food.

We decided to try the pizzeria on Valentines. We were seated in the side room in a bar table. The sitting was so uncomfortable i couldn’t keep my feet up because there was a hole in the bar where the feet go? Weird! My husband order a Barrio beer and it virtually took them 1/2 an hour.to get us a beer and a drink. We been seating there for an hour and no food in sight! Boy I wish I had gone to Reforma or North! Don’t bother to even show up here, truly awful experience! We finally got up and paid for our drinks which we took a sip for $19 . If the food is like the service, stay away! When restaurants need more dining seating and you get to sit between bankets and you are super uncomfortable and they are going to charge you the same to people who are actually sitting in the nice dining room while you sit in the side room staring at a cook sweat! And people who are actually sitting comfortably are talking in your freaking ears? Spare me you lost me as a customer and you ruined my Valentines night!

Disappointing service. I wanted this to be a better experience. I came here with my family. Half the table received their food 45 minutes before the other half. After asking where the rest of the food was their only answer was that they only have one pizza oven. How do you expect me to pay $15 for a small pizza and then not deliver it for over an hour? I expected more for St Phillip's Plaza.

Kind and Delicious experience. This place has the ambience, (open air with 2-way fireplace on cold months, breeze in hotter ones/free WIFI), the quality, the flavors, *and the personality you look for in a dining/cocktail experience. The service is second to none. I had the huge and layered menu explained to me by one of the managers, and had my choices narrowed down to a *fantastic deal of 4 choice (all amazing) toppings for bruschetta, with a bottle of good wine (choice of 3) for $25. But what *really inspired this review was the customer service and approachableness of staff. So friendly and seemingly enjoying their jobs. I hit the slower time on a Saturday, (after the Farmer's Market Philips Plaza, and before the dinner rush), but I could tell this new business had a bright future and positive attitude, no matter what the conditions or busy rush. Very happy right now. Writing this at the bar over FREE Wifi service they provide. Will be reviewing on Yelp as well.

Not a good experience. There were 10 people outside but none inside. Manager told me bar seats only. This is a big restaurant! I was ok with that. Bartenders were friendly but busy with prep work. Doors were open and air was on. It was cold. Told air wasn't on. But a couple came in, confused that they couldn't get a table when no one was there. They were cold, too! Then they opened outside bar windows. Took my pizza to go. It was 3:30

They have a "pick four" bruschetta deal. I have to say, all 4 options I picked were inedible. I haven't tried their pizzas (I understand they are a pizza place) but after the bruschettas not only will they never earn another dime from me, I'll make sure to tell my friends about my experience to hopefully save them from what I went through. No wonder this place is usually empty.

The food is pretty pricy for the quantity. What we ordered was the pineapple pizza (decent) and the Chipotle Chicken pizza (better). I did love the atmosphere of eating by the fire on a rainy day but since that's pretty rare here in Tucson. I didn't get a chance to try any of the drink specials as it was a work lunch.

Absolutely disorganized restaurant. Waited 40 minutes with half the tables empty. Waited 15 minutes for a drink at the bar prior to being asked if we were waiting to be seated by the hostess who took my name and said we can have a drink at the bar while we waited. Then came 45 minutes later and said did you want to be seated at a table? Oh lord.
