The review is for the Botanical Garden. At $5.50 per senior it is great. We love the Japanese Garden, the rose garden, and the enclosed Mediterranean garden. The rest is excellent. One comment - there is a part that merits more attention. As you go in to the Japanese garden main gate (past the part with a bell, past the gate, to the right) there is a small garden that seemed to be donated. It is NOT well maintained.

Probably not the wisest to visit gardens in November, but I thought we may see Christmas lights. We did but they didn't have them on so that was disappointing. (As we were leaving some were turned on.) It was fun to see the ducks in the pond, the horses and sheep at the heritage farm, and to walk through the fantasy garden, but my guess is this is a better place to visit in the spring and summer.

Came here lots of shade, lots of flowers and things to see. First time I have been here besides the river of lights. Definitely pretty nice. I like the fact that there is all the shade compared to the zoo with no shade. Kids also had a great time. Family friendly. It was a hot day but there were a constant amount of people and not overwhelming crowds like the zoo sometimes get.

Went on a Saturday to celebrate my mom's birthday. Ordered my tickets online, it was so easy. It was nice to be able to go right in and not have to wait in line. Main reason was to see the new Japanese Island. Very beautiful, so peaceful. Also visited the Aquarium, very quick and not very much to look at. Food and Drinks are very expensive. Highly recommend taking your own drinks and lunch. The botanical garden has a very large shaded grass area were you can sit down to have lunch. Staff is really nice and informative and able to assist in anyway. New areas in the Botanical Garden were you can have photo shoot, wedding ceremony, take maternity photos and etc.

Beautiful botanical gardens. Many unique garden areas to view, lots of shaded walkways and upper and lower indoor gardens. The mature succulents are quite impressive and the miniature railroad village is sure to bring a smile to young and old alike.

This place is awesome get your tickets online for the river of Lights, they will sell out every night. It was on opening night. It was crowded but everyone was respectful and having a great time. They require mask even though it's outdoors, however I didn't see much enforcement of this rule.

I already mentioned it in my aquarium review but this place is great! You get to go to the aquarium and botanical garden and that gives you diverse ecology facts and tons of things to do withs friends, family or even dates. We spent about 4 hrs at the aquarium and botanical garden combined. Most at the garden while speed walking since we were on a time crunch. But its wonderful for tourists or local alike great deal and gorgeous plants and architecture. Has a really cool bugarium to teach all about bugs and a butterfly area but that was closed currently.

Loved the river of lights. I'm sure someone who has lived here and has gone multiple times it would get old. But for a first time visitor it was magical. The lights were well made. Some were flat, some rounded and all were well made. You could find them in trees bushes and all around. I also appreciated that they sold warm drinks and alcoholic drinks you could walk with. I need to come to the biopark during the other seasons as well.

I recently visited the ABQ botanical with my family and it was a delightful experience. The garden's lush greenery and vibrant flowers provided a serene and rejuvenating atmosphere. I was impressed by the well-maintained paths and informative signage that enhanced the educational aspect of the visit. The diverse collection of plants and the attention to detail in arranging them showcased the beauty of nature. The botanical garden is a perfect place for nature enthusiasts, families, or anyone seeking a peaceful escape in the heart of the city. I highly recommend it for a wonderful day out.

The gardens are beautiful. It is a great place to take family and friends. I saw a a person in her cap and gown having her graduation pictures being taken while I was there. Kids were playing in the open spaces. Make sure you take bug spray.

Well worth the price for holiday lights, but there is hardly any parking and the signs to get to the alternative parking are not great. It doesn’t help that cellphone infrastructure is terrible with any kind of crowd, so you couldn’t google where it was once seeing the biopark parking area was full. We waited 1.5 hours for a bus to get to the bio park alternative parking and missed our window to enter. The person working understood our issue, as everyone seemed to be like us. They need more buses on sold out nights when they know in advance there is a large crowd. Would recommend if you visit from 1.5+ hours from here that you pair it with something else to make a weekend out of it, otherwise it’s not worth it with the large crowds.

We love the ABQ Botanical Gardens and Aquarium. Your ticket purchase gets you into both locations. We have been many times and always enjoy both, every season. It is hot in the summer so dress appropriately and take water. The lights during the holiday season are always amazing!

I thought it was beautiful! However, mosquitos thought me and my wife were beautiful. I would have spent more time, but we were miserable. We were there on memorial day weekend. Can't say if it is always that bad, but I saw lots of people with bug spray, so it must be a known issue.

Nice garden with few special areas for kids. In this time of the year (March) it does not look great, but it's still decent and it is a nice place for a walk as well. Entrance is $14.50, which also cover access to an Aquarium next to it

Beautiful garden with a fairy tale theme. It will be worth it to combine it with zoo and garden. The shuttle was not available. We did the garden and aquarium first then drove to the zoo which was 2.5miles away. I would not advise walking there. Plenty of parking in the covered lot. We spent a total of 6 hours at all 3 parks. It was not too busy at all. Went on a Tuesday morning. The price for 3 parks for non resident was $22 per person, which is a great deal!

Nice, but the constructions made it a bit chaotic. The qr-code map is a useful gimmick. It is not advisable to get right in when it's opens. Since most of the apes like chimpanzees and gorillas are not out yet due to cleaning. Or one needs to move in a different direction as we did.

I love this place. I’m from Arizona. Congratulations Albuquerque for giving your community a great green space. If you haven’t been, shame on you. Get out there and take a book, find one of the many beautiful quiet places and enjoy!

A really pretty place to visit and not pricey bad if you go to the aquarium at the same time It makes for a fun couple of hours We also like to come during the river of lights.

Lovely botanic gardens with a large number of crabapple trees that are sure to be gorgeous in the spring. Gardens include high desert, succulent, low desert, asian, pond areas, palm trees & orchids, butterfly house, bug house, spiders, lots to see and lots that blooms even in Oct.

We bought the combination passes for the Aquarium, zoo, and botanical gardens, and I will say that the botanical gardens was far and away the biggest surprise of this trip! We have been to several different botanical gardens and none have even come close to what these offer in Albuquerque!! Getting the combination passes for a family of five gave us like 7-8 hours of family fun for less than a hundred bucks! We spent over 2 hours at the botanical gardens just walking around and soaking in some AWESOME nature! Expect to spend a couple hours here! Better bring a water bottle and some snacks, the snack booths are quite pricey!! Pros: Absolutely beautiful and absolutely affordable! An absolute treasure! Cons: Expensive snacks! (At least it's going to a good cause!)

Visited in November during the day...seemed to be undergoing Chrismas preparation. Looked a bit disorganized but still very nice & educational for kids. The miniature train park was very lovely! I was comparing to Chicago's botanical garden & we were tired because we had spent a long time in the zoo, so that didn't help. But absolutely amazing resources for families with kids. Make sure to get combo ticket! Buy start with your top priority attraction, because you get tired by the end of the day!

I enjoyed my most recent experience here. I will definitely return. It's just a bummer that a lot of exhibits haven't been kept up over the years and has really lost a lot over just the last 15 years. I still recommend visiting and bringing the kids, I just wish it would get the facelift it deserves.

Excellent views and maintenance of the gardens. Diverse variety of exhibits to see and plenty to learn about as well. Hope to see the model trains in action again someday, haven't seen it working in a few years.

Really enjoyed our experience at the botanical garden. If you want a quiet, peaceful experience… My best advice is to go early to avoid the heat & summer parks and recreation bus loads/groups of kids. Noticed as the day progressed more and more kids were there enjoying themselves. Flowers and displays were wonderful. Loved that there was plenty of shade and breezes. We did the garden first and then the aquarium. Did not get the zoo combo pass as reviews said there wasn’t much shade at the zoo. Spent half a day there. Highly recommend. Reasonably priced. Lots of lovely flowers, plants, creatures and critters to see! ❤️ A lot of the things didn’t have signs. I used my google lens app to help identify things…

Really nice and fairly inexpensive considering it includes the gardens and aquarium. The aquarium was a bit on the smaller side but enjoyable. The gardens were nice. A bit sparse in areas, but that might have been the season more than anything.

I love coming here, it's very relaxing. Also, a great place to come and practice your photography skills, but keep in mind that for anything major you have to get a photography permit, and I do not know how much that costs. Other than that, come in, walk around, stop by the pond and have a snack, take a few photos, it's a great place.

I came here during the harvest festival, so there were lots to do - artisans, good food, and live music. I love nature and this place definitely made me feel peaceful. It’s absolutely beautiful. I walked the entire park, even some of the hidden paths. There’s so much to see – beautiful flowers, plants, waterfalls, koi fish, ducks, and even - dare I say it - bugs 😱 I’m not a fan of bugs, but was amazed at how beautiful some of them are (not the roaches 😅), and how well they blend into their environment. The universe is an amazing thing! Entry to the aquarium was included, which was great. It’s a bit small but I still enjoyed it. if you’re looking for a little slice of heaven, you’ll certainly find it here 🥰

I'm always so jealous of how beautifully lush the gardens are. I want to know their gardening secrets! The grounds are enticing and draw you into learning more about the micro habitats they display. Love exploring here!

It was first time experiencing this beautiful garden in Albuquerque and I enjoyed it. Loved the green grass to have a picnic or nap in the shade. Plenty of offshoot gardens from the main garden area. Free parking! My favorite was the Mediterranean indoor plants. The lily pond is a nice spot too. You need to experience the butterfly garden too. They have a nice children fantasy garden too. It’s very whimsical with a maze and large flowers/ garden tools/bugs. I would recommend this place.

This is such an cool place to take your young children and young adults. So much to explore here at the Aquarium and the gardens. Figs and pomegranate are grown here. Little Villages, a butterfly 🦋 area I/we enjoyed exploring this space.

This is the best botanical gardens that I have ever been too. There is just so much to see and do. Everything so so well kept and maintained. We could only spend about 4 hours here, but I'm sure you could spend a whole day here without trying very hard. Awesome!

  • 4/5 Casey T. 2 years ago on Google
Plenty to do and see at this site, right next door to the Aquarium and your ticket gets you into both. I went here during the winter and was more so imagining how it would look in the spring and summer. The Japanese garden and the farm were my favorite areas. Definitely would recommend spending time in the Japanese garden if you have had a rough day or need some time to center yourself.

The garden had its cute corners, but overall, it was a bit underwhelming. It's a bit bare in the winter, and I was surprised that there weren't more cacti and evergreens. Having been to the Botanic Garden in Denver, I realized that it's possible to still have a garden that looks full in the dead of winter. That said, it is a pleasant walk especially when the garden isn't quite busy yet on Sunday mornings.

This place was a great place to venture for the price paid 14 bucks for all the attractions. I went alone but I bet any child would enjoy this experience! Real sharks and a sea turtle! Awesome bug displays and the few farm animals were a delight to watch. I am big on plants and I wouldve like to see better displays as some looked “store bought” still left in their hanging pots that sat on the ground. I also saw some tacky fake tulips. With a little but more attention to details these botanic gardens would be amazing!!
