I rarely give out 5 star reviews, but this one was deserving. From the very first bite I was ready to bend the knee and pledge my allegiance to the great land of Ethiopia. Words cannot describe how good this meal was. Although it was a restaurant, you can tell that the food was prepared with that homemade love and care. The flavours were married together in such perfect union that I would’ve cried tears of joy if my partner wasn’t sat opposite me. The staff were so nice and they made sure that you didn't leave until you were full, which reminded me of how my mum would make sure our stomachs were always fed. The value for money is so also hard to believe for the food that you receive. But this is also a great thing. It’s a place that doesn’t want to rip you off, but to bless you with amazing, delicious food. Honestly, i will be returning here again, and again, and again.

This somewhat hidden restaurant could be a little hard to miss inconspicuously placed off of Camberwell Road in the commercial unit (depending where you walk from). I love Ethiopian food but am a bit unfamiliar with the names of the dishes so we ordered the house special for about £30 (£15 pp). It was an amazing choice, you get a whole injera bread with 8 different dishes and several servings on top. You break off the bread to scoop up the deliciousness, extra bread comes too. The meal was more than enough for both of us, very filling! Would have been nice to have some hand wipes or lemon water after to freshen up the hands but they do have a well kept toilet. The place is pushchair friendly as theres no problem getting into the restaurant. The 2 lovely ladies who served us were very friendly and even offered to push our son around in his pushchair while we ate. Will definitely be coming back when we move closer to the area!

An authentic experience! Fantastic service here at this hidden gem! Very authentic and delicious selection of food. The service is great and the staff are so welcoming from start to finish of your meal and extremely accommodating. They patiently explained the different options and suggested what would be best for us to try as first timers. Eating with your hands and getting stuck in was also part of the overall experience. Also such great portions and extremely reasonable prices!

Chilled restaurant hidden behind the local Islamic centre. Food is tasty and not excessively spicy; plus there are also plates for one person, like the combination ones, wide choice for vegans too. Small flaws: beef stew was a bit too dry and service seems slower than elsewhere, only one person was dealing with several tables. In short, a good value and reliable restaurant if you want to try Ethiopian cuisine for the first time. Reservations via OpenTable.

Cozy restaurant, friendly staff, Delicious food, good customer service and small selection of good white wine. I had Gomen besiga which was diced lamb with flavoured butter spinach and my friends had the shared platter. It was all good. We throughly enjoyed it. Ethiopian honey white wine was delightful if you are a fan of sweet wine. The lady who I think is the owner was very kind and made us feel very welcome. They didn’t rush us to order or eat. It is a fantastic place to have a taste of home made food and chilling with friends. Not noisy, no loud music or sharp lights. Everything is made for a relaxing night out.

In the heart of Camberwell, where time slows to the rhythm of tradition, the DKB found themselves at an Ethiopian restaurant that beckoned with promises of culinary delight. The air was thick with the rich, intoxicating aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, their smoky tendrils weaving tales of distant lands. As we entered, we were embraced by the warm hospitality of the staff, whose smiles were as genuine as the flavours they served. They guided us to a table adorned with vibrant, handwoven fabrics, a testament to their heritage. The traditional food arrived, a symphony of colours and textures on a communal platter, an invitation to share and savour. With injera as our guide, we embarked on a culinary journey, each bite a tribute to a culture steeped in history. In that moment, under the ethereal glow of the restaurant's warm candlelight, we felt not just as guests, but a part of a larger tapestry of tradition and kindness that spanned over 1400 years of history to the footsteps of those first blessed Muslims that found sanctuary in the lands of ancient Ethiopia.

I’ve brought so many of my friends here for dinner and the food is delicious every time. I recommend getting the vegan special for two, even if you’re not vegan. The atmosphere is very nice and calm, and the owner is lovely. This is one of the few restaurants that I suggest to friends and go to every few months. Cannot recommend it enough!

Amazing food and lovely owner 😍 The owner is so sweet and accommodating, the food was so so delicious and well portioned and presented. I’ve been to a few Ethiopian restaurants and this has become my new favorite. Absolutely loved the food and atmosphere of this place. I would recommend the food platter to share to get a taste of a few things, I loved each dish really nothing I didn’t like. And taste the honey wine, it’s delicious! Also great vegan options, you can have the shared platter vegan or with meat. I visited with my co workers and they all loved it and we’ll definitely come again. Thank you!

Been meaning to come here for ages and finally did! This platter was amazing - great value for money between the two of us and I was gutted I was too full to finish it, as it was delicious. The honey wine is also lovely! A great Ethiopian experience.

Don't let the slightly dingy building that it is in put you off - this place is utterly charming, the staff were lovely, the interior is cozy (loved the fresh flowers) and very clean. If you've never eaten Ethiopian food before, don't worry you will get all the help you need from the amazing staff. The menu is quite short (that's a good thing) and sensibly priced. We had no real idea what to order but got all the help we needed. Oh, and the most important bit... The food was totally delish!

This place is genuinely amazing. Tafi and her staff make sure you have an excellent time and explain everything perfectly. The food was unreal, so flavourful, would 100% recommend trying this restaurant out especially if you haven't tried Ethiopian food. Their Ethiopian spiced tea is also amazing and a nice end to a beautiful meal

This spot is a real hidden gem. It was my first time having Ethiopian food and it didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious and eating with our hands was a cool new experience. I’d definitely recommend trying the honey wine, you could easily drink the bottle!

2nd time in my life trying Ethiopian food and boy did it not disappoint! Despite being really busy the service was fast and attentive, food was really tasty and unique - if you’re either vegan or vegetarian you’ll have a lot of options. For the meat lovers there’s a few options and all of them are good. Highly recommended!

This place is absolutely amazing! The food is spectacular, the place is cozy and warm and the people who run it are among the most welcoming hosts I have ever come across. I have been other times and it is my first choice for Ethiopian food. Recommend!

Zeret Kitchen is a delight! The staff are attentive, so friendly and helpful. They were kind enough to tell us how best to eat the items and accommodating to different spice levels. The food itself was delicious, reasonably priced and so filling. Would recommend the kartegna (it's an injera bread starter that is slightly spiced), the Ethiopian spicy tea (reminiscent of an Indian masala chai without milk) and the sharing platter. Note that you eat from one plate and use your hands so would recommend to lean into the experience! We can't wait to go back.

Food: It was our first foray into Ethiopian cuisine and me and my friend both felt that it made a solid impression on us. The starter bread was also really good and it was a good spice level. Unfortunately, after finishing the bread and having the platter, my dinner guest ended up feeling a bit sick but we couldn't pinpoint the reason. Service: The waitresses there very attentive and good at their jobs! They seated us where we wanted to be as well which was a big plus! Atmosphere: Really good atmosphere overall! Everyone looked like they were having a wonderful experience!

Best and the only best Ethiopian cuisine I have ever. The starter Kategna sparks up your appetite. And the recommendation is the Zeret surprise. The dish contains everything you need. fluffy and sour enjera fill up your stomach and you will never go back home with hunger. The service is so good and I will definitely come again.

I had a wonderful experience here in August. I went for my birthday and they were very kind and liaised with a friend to bring out a birthday cake he brought from outside. The food is delicious, full of flavour and spices. The injera was really tasty (no sourness) and the had Tej (honey wine)! We did complain about a dish and they were very apologetic offering to replace; we were so full we declined- and they took it off the bill. Great food and even better service! I will be back.

Genuinely a 5/5 experience. Everyone on staff was super friendly and helped us with the menu and choices. The food was SO GOOD and the Ethiopian wine was a great first experience. We shared the platter between 4 people and it was ample food and deceptively filling

The best Ethiopian food we’ve had in London so far, we went with our Ethiopian friends who said it was really authentic! Excellent vegan choices.

I have been lots of times to Zeret Kitchen and I have to say it never falls short of incredible. The lovely people who work there make it such an enjoyable experience and the fact that the food is some of the best I’ve had in London really makes it so memorable. I always order the vegan sharing platter and it’s always delicious, I’m not even vegan but it is hands down as good if not better than any meat dish.

Best Ethiopian in the area. Fiendly staff, huge portions and loads of options - what's not to like. If you come as a two, I'd recommend the sharing platter. As a solo diner, a combo is more than enough. Make sure to book as they can be very busy in the evenings.
