5 star? No way. Pros: you’re conveniently at airport, the staff is fine, the lobby gives the appearance of a nice hotel. Cons: Rooms are so outdated, in need of major renovation. Smells musty. Bathroom was awful. Shower water is warm at best, not hot. The bathroom tile feels like you’re in an outdoor or gym shower, so gross and grimy. Hoping i don't catch athlete’s foot or something. I paid almost $300 a night and expected this to be a nice hotel. Overall, i couldn't wait to get out of there! This hotel should be $80.00 a night at best.

I've stayed here a fair few times and I've never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and will look after you well. The food in the restaurant as well as room service is amazing and the rooms are very clean and have a lot of space. Very convenient if you have a flight as its walking distance to T5

This is a great hotel, super convenient for onward travel from Heathrow. The rooms are spacious by London standards, very well furnished and the beds and pillows are super comfy. The restaurant is brilliant with great food and one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I've had. There's a tea lounge and I've sampled some excellent tea today. The waiters have all been great, knowledgeable and happy people. I'll be back!

Great customer service and warm ambience. When I had to leave UK alone back to Singapore without traveling with my husband who unfortunately contracted Covid -19. I accidentally booked the wrong date for my stay at Sofitel. I only realized it upon check-in. And this lovely lady name Maria calmed me down and checked the availability of the room on the date itself. Luckily there are still room available and I managed to cancel my original booking. She also upgrade my room and double check with me my flight time and extend my stay as well as my flight is late in the evening. I am really thankful for her kind gesture and later requested to make complement to her. She was delighted and said : I like to help people. I am very touched by her sincerity and great customer service skill. Thank you! Maria

This hotel is amazing - love everything about it! From pre-check-in communication, to arrival and stay, the staff have been wonderful. The room is very spacious, airy, clean and well-appointed. There is ample lighting throughout. The bed is comfortable, there is extra seating, a fridge, a safe, and a large desk. All amenities one might need have been provided in the room, including shower toiletries, lotion, toothbrush/dental kit, shaving kit, robes and slippers, and a selection of teas. The bathroom has a separate shower from the large tub. The hotel has a spa and gym, a bar, a restaurant, room service, and a gift shop that includes necessary travel items (for anything forgotten at home or lost in transit). The restaurant staff is attentive and friendly, and the food is delicious. The Full English breakfast is buffet style and everything is superb. The hotel is conveniently located at Heathrow Airport, with a walkway connection directly into Terminal 5. An awesome hotel - highly recommend it!

This was an outstanding hotel except for one thing. We were given a free room given by British Airways because our flight was delayed and we missed our connection. The service is top notch and the hotel is just a short walk through the terminal. It's basically connected to the airport. It's beautiful. What we did not like was the bed. Let me explain. We asked for a handicap accessible room because my wife is in a wheelchair. The bathroom is perfect with grab bars and a roll in shower. The bed however was not good. It was one of the softest and uneven beds we have ever slept on. This makes it very difficult for someone with reduced mobility to sit on the edge or roll over in bed. Change the bed and it's a 5 star hotel for us.

We stayed here overnight before early morning flight. Hotel package included car parking which is in the hotels underground car park. Check in was easy, the room was modern, clean and spacious. The bathroom was also very clean and even had a TV over the bath. The food we had from the lounge was good as was the service. It is a big hotel and was very busy during our stay. Up early the following day and it is a short walk to the departures terminal. A very good experience from start to finish and will use again.

Brilliant staff, absolutely faultless, friendly and excellent service. Our room was clean and spacious as we had a junior suite. It was a bit tired though with the sofa bed ripped in the back which was unsightly and one of our beds was really uncomfortable. The mattress topper and bedding was ill fitting. For the price tag the beds need attention. Otherwise a lovely stay.

Extremely spacious rooms with very comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom too. Was offered a free upgrade as well which was very kind. Right by the airport making this probably the best hotel to go to if there is an early flight the next day, assuming price is not an issue.

The Sofitel was probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed. The lift got stuck mid transit and when the alarm button was pressed and we came out on the ground floor again unhelpful staff told us to scan card in lift. Absolutely no sign to say that. Bedside light was broken and came on several times in the middle of the night. Wall fixtures fell off and pretty much everything was done really cheaply. Bed filled with memory foam and only one, hard pillow per bed. Staff were rude and very unhelpful. About the only good thing I can say about it is that its proximity to Heathrow T5 is handy, and being the only hotel near it, it can charge stupid prices for a 1 star service. It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t claim to be a 5 star hotel. It’s worth going to the Radisson and getting a taxi to the airport. Don’t waste your money at the Sofitel.

We stayed here one night since our flight was cancelled. Our room was clean, fresh smelling, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well lit for applying makeup, & the AC worked. The people working here are very friendly and the restaurant was very good for dinner and for breakfast. It only took us about an 8 minute walk to the BA check in counter. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Perfect location for travelling from terminal 5 Heathrow, had interconnected rooms both very spacious clean and well appointed. Would definitely recommend the restaurant as food was of a very high standard. One of our grandchildren was violently sick during the night so front desk contacted and bed was stripped and fully made with fresh bedding and new towels, staff very very helpful during our stay.

Once you can find it this is an excellent hotel. If you are leaving your car at meet and great or any of the other car parks on site be warned there is practically no signage whatsoever for the hotel. To find it go into terminal 5 and down the lift in the far left corner as you go in. The access to the hotel is on ground level and has some minute signs there. Though the hotel is "attached" to terminal 5 it is a long walk some up hill to get to the reception. Once your there the hotel is lovely and restful...why it is such a well kept secret I don't know...Good luck with finding it...it's worth the hassle!

Really nice comfortable room, kept clean almost on a daily basis. Love the room service but the restaurant is more fun, a chance to dress up for the ladies elegant set up. Highly recommend booking via Accor for members rates. Express check out is great too. I will definitely stay again when I am in the UK. I am looking forward to the next few months.

Stayed here night before flight - really nice hotel, felt very luxurious. Upgraded room upon arrival and staff were super friendly. Food available until midnight (via room service) although standard of food was just ok and very expensive. Overall definitely recommend as so convenient to Heathrow!

We stay at the Sofitel LHR, every time we fly from terminal 5, as it is the only 'attached' hotel. It is probably the most expensive around the airport, but is definitely worth it, especially if you want a bit of luxury before a well earned holiday. Having now sampled a variety of rooms, rest assured, they are all great. Food and drinks can be a bit pricey - but again, it is worth it. The only downside is that many of the rooms are inward facing, so don't have an external view, but unless you are a plane spotter, this really doesn't matter (as you typically arrive late anyway and this is just an airport). We had a very minor issue with our room the last time we stayed, so this time got a free upgrade to a junior suite, which was hugely appreciated..

I stay in the hotel three times within 2 months. The overall service is really beyond standard. All the staff members I meet are caring, friendly, polite and professional. The house keeping is very efficient. Once I am been to having my breakfast, my room is cleaned and stocked when I come back. There are many choices for the breakfast at Vivre. On one occasion, I notice that one managerial level staff member inspect the quality of the food at the food station. The service at the lounge is excellent too. It is a quiet place to sit and rest. However, the number of seating seems to be not enough.

Had a very fast and pleasant check-in with Olya. Additionally, the breakfast wait staff and chef were extremely kind. Also it's like a 5 min walk to terminal 5 (otherwise need to take the train on the ground floor to terminals 2 and 3, one stop away). The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because the selection for the breakfast could be a bit better and the room, although very clean, could be a little better too for the 200 pound price.

This place is fantastic. If you're planning a long distance flight, this is a great place to break up your travel. You're literally next to Terminal 5 with a covered walkway. 5 minutes and you're checking into your flight from the front desk. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Fast Wi-Fi and luxury bathroom combined with very personable staff and dining options. Historically, I would have to get up at 3am to drive to the airport, navigate rush hour London traffic, be stressed about potential road works and missing my flight. By the time I'd arrive in the US I'd be exhausted and cranky. This way, the way of the Sofitel, I arrived in excellent spirits and without the stress and headache of worrying if I'd make my flight.

This hotel was expensive with no gratis or other complimentary items given. It was perfectly fine, stay wise. The staff was great, and it was very clean. However, with the amount I paid, I should at least have gotten to use the sauna free of charge. Kimpinski prices with no gratis? That's hard to justify staying again.

Small rooms and charges are extra ordinary high. I sent email asking to pull the sofa bed out, received response but sofa bed was not set up. I had Do not disturb sign outside my door and after just few hours of sleep hotel technical staff tried to enter the room. Very unprofessional behaviour at this hotel.

One of the most comfortable beds I've ever encountered in a hotel (far more than I care to remember) and rest of room also excellent. Club happy hour a significant bonus for those rooms giving access to it. Sky High Pricing (rooms and restaurants) clearly based on its location within the airport's T5 !!!

We had such a nice stay here. The rooms are comfortable and the location was perfect. But by far and away it was the staff who made it such a great experience. I have never been treated so nicely. I felt like a VIP. The doorman in particular was a real star. There was no parking near the entrance and we wanted to check in and then take our car to valet parking. He made that such an easy process and was full of helpful information. All the staff were smiley and had a can do attitude. Bosses if you read this the training is working and these people need rewarding. They are doing a great job. The only negative is the pricing. £11.25 for two coffees is a new record for me. Also 5.00 for a large cup sized green salad. But overall the rooms, location and lovely service were worth paying for.

A last minute booking to avoid an early start for a flight the next day - perfectly located for our BA flight from T5. Friendly staff and great service. We received a room upgrade and had access to the lounge which was very welcome. The lounge staff were outstanding and looked after us very well. Due to Covid (the hotel was not accessible for a long period of time) it had been a while since we had last stayed but we won’t leave it so long next time!

Great location for air travel. Reception seemed desperate to have a swipe of your card to put a hold on an amount of money, when I prefer to pay as I go in a hotel. Room was good although the TV in the bath couldn't be viewed very well from an angle whilst lying in the bath so the novelty of it didn't quite work. I stayed in a suite with lounge area with a Bose sound system which was good. It is a quiet hotel which suits some but I generally prefer a more lively place. I would recommended it for couples or business travellers looking for a nice relaxing hotel with money to spare to pay a premium for the location. I personally feel it is overpriced for what you get when compared with other hotels nearby.

Great hotel to stay at when you are flying out of Heathrow. Easy access to terminal 5, and then to the other terminals via the free train that runs between them Rooms are large and have plenty of room to relax, while the bathrooms have TVs built into the mirrors. There are a few hidden features in the room such as the built in night light. Room service is excellent, for both dinner and breakfast. As is the main restaurant itself. Even though you are as close to the airport as you can get there in no noise at all from the aircraft landing and taking off.

I've stayed here with increasing frequency because of the overall experience. I've chosen recently not to stay in the city and just tube into town for meetings because it's a good value and more comfortable with more amenities on location than most of the higher end properties in London. And the staff is kind, knowledgeable and attentive. Lastly, I recently realized I had missed a booking which I forgot to change. The reception attendant talked to his manager who reversed the charge even though it was my mistake. That decision cemented my loyalty. Well done!

Booking as a family with 2 adults and 1 child I would never have dreamt that a bed for the child would not be included with the room. Yes, in hindsight it was written underneath the booking. I have never experienced this with any other major hotel chain, as they price their hotels to accommodate children. I upgraded (Paid) to a suite which had an addition bed and the lady on reception was helpful and considerate. However, initially picking a nice room, to get charged even more actually made me wince (a family room would have been at least 15% less and it would have had that additional bed). Upon arriving the room was nice and spacious, however it had a very musty damp smell. Disappointed enough to actually write a review.

Ended up staying at the Sofitel due to an oversight of my own while booking one of the other walkable airport hotels. The location is very convenient but possibly the only pro. There was no working escalator on arrival to go down to the reception desk and the elevator took ages to arrive. This was followed by a long queue at the reception desk, the staff here were friendly enough. Overall convenience was key so I put up with this but will unfortunately not be staying here again and will not be recommending this either unless desperate.

Terrible. stayed the one night but they had a wedding event in the building right under our room and we got zero sleep. Concierge/front desk were not helpful and suggested we check out at midnight. The following morning amongst many others complaining of the same issue, we were promised 20%refund. This never happened. Emailed general mgr and emails are just ignored. Booking a hotel to get no sleep defeats the purpose of why you would even book this place. Horrible service on top of that. They clearly value money generated from their events over hotel guests comfort. Awful

Comfortable hotel without much heart. Convenient for the airport but late night service poor. Bars shut early, no room service apart from breakfast menus in the room, kitchen shuts mid evening. Inconvenient if you want something late at night.

i had to stay here because I arrived too early for my flight. staff is excellent and rooms were terrific, huge and comfy. the bath was also large. the hotel restaurant had above average food. it's expensive but it's a monopoly. just enjoy it.

The staff from front of house to room service are professional and polite. Exactly what I look for in a hotel. Room is a good size and the bathroom facilities are excellent, thank you Addendum - I didn’t use all the facilities hence the 4 stars. Room service and location 5 stars definitely

My kid and I stayed one night in mid August. Arriving at T5 and catching another flight the next day from the same terminal. So it makes sense for us to stay here. We pay for convenience. We love it. Location is very good. We didn’t have to go outside the terminal at all. Room with two twin beds is very clean, bed and pillows are very fluffy. There’s a small fridge and an electric kettle. It’s quiet, I can’t believe we’re in the airport area. We had a good night sleep for sure. We didn’t use room service, we didn’t have breakfast here nor went to the restaurant. We just bought some food from M&S (opens 24H) and ate in the room.

An outstanding hotel. Firstly it’s actually in terminal 5. The location could not be better. The staff are exceedingly friendly, helpful and professional. The room was spacious and spotless, the bed large and we slept very well. The shower was hot and powerful, which was most welcome after a stressful day of travel. Also my son loved the reclining armchair!😁

  • 3/5 Craig G. 3 months ago on Google • 4 reviews New
I can’t dispute that the convenience for terminal 5, makes this hotel a brilliant choice. Checkin was efficient, although I couldn’t go so far as to say I felt welcomed. The room was functional and a great size. The bathroom is huge with a separate bath and shower. However, the shower cubical design is flawed making it difficult to get in and out of the shower without slipping or getting water all over the floor. The mattress wasn’t comfortable and clearly hasn’t been replaced in a long time, given I could feel the imprint of where others had slept. That said, in comparison to other hotels I’ve stayed at in Heathrow, this was by no means the worst mattress. I should say too that the room was so quiet, which is a great achievement given its size and location. The bar is fairly soulless and way overpriced for terrible service. The rooms are pretty much the same since I first stayed here the year it opened. It would be nice to see some investment. We’re back here again in a few weeks, but considering if a cheaper option that’s less convenient for the airport would be better.

Considering this place is billed as a five star hotel, it is so far from it. The facilities and the hotel are quite good with world-class level conference facilities and wedding. The rooms are average for customer service is even less than average. We had a blockage in our sink we were getting alarm calls all through the night we complained and we promised a call back. Nobody call back.
