Beautiful
historic
meadow.
From
April
to
October
the
meadow
is
grazed
by
a
herd
of
Belted
Galloway
cattle.
During
these
months
dogs
must
be
kept
on
a
lead.
Some
dog
walkers
resent
this,
with
their
usual:
"My
doggy
is
a
good
doggy,
a
nice
doggy
and
a
doggy
that
never
poo-poo's
without
me
pretending
I
didn't
see
it".
They
happily
ignore
the
fact
that
cows
are
not
intimately
acquainted
with
the
personality
of
every
running
dog
and
it
can
stress
them.
As
it
is
ancient
meadow,
it
is
best
to
respect
the
grass,
wildflowers
and
voles
and
keep
to
the
path.
If
you
want
to
picnic,
or
run
around
on
grass,
the
Terraced
Gardens
are
just
opposite,
a
2
minute
walk
away.
It
can
be
busy
on
sunny
weekends,
best
get
there
before
noon,
or
save
your
visits
to
weekdays,
when
you
can
often
stroll
across
the
meadow
alone
with
your
thoughts,
and
a
small
herd
of
Belted
Galloways,
strolling
placidly
towards
the
setting
sun.
