Very friendly and knowledgable. Did an excellent job installing a wood burner stove. I would trust them to do it every time. There were a few issues with the installation, but they went out of their way to make sure that the job was done correctly and safely, leaving me with a lovely looking and functional fireplace

H.G.Matthews have, once again, provided excellent service. Over the years they have built fireplaces and serviced gas fires for us with the highest standards of professionalism. We moved to Stokenchurch 12: years ago and were delighted that they could still provide service and maintenance for our fire. We recommend them without any reservations.

We had a stove fitted from scratch. The boss himself came to do the survey and we found him friendly and knowledgable as were the installers, who pointed out there was a problem with the side panel and arranged replacement without any prompting. If I could I’d give 4.5 but we did have an issue with the order itself - after the survey we got emails pushing for a deposit, saying they would give us an installation date once we paid up…then nothing. Had to chase this ourselves after 4 weeks and were then told installation was a lot further off than we had been led to believe. Supply issues we get, but the response from the back office was a bit off hand, bearing in mind we’d lost a month waiting for them to contact us. But alls well that ends well and we love our new stove. The boss even talked us through the first lighting! If the whole firm was just him it would be perfect

Recently had a Gazco Logic2 Progress electric fire installed - in current weather I've not needed to use it yet but I love the look of it. Communication with Matthews was good, staff helpful on my visits to their showroom, advice given on how to clean my existing fire surround and no "hard sell". I could probably have found the fire online at a cheaper price but then I would have had to organise someone to fit it. HG Matthews did everything and I have a local point of contact should any issue arise (not that I expect that to happen). Very pleased with whole process.

We had 3 fireplaces, wood burner,open fire and electric stove fitted, the quality of products and workmanship is outstanding, I cannot recommend them more highly, this is a fantastic family business that really cares, which is rare these days.

I have a gas fire which I have regularly serviced. This company installed it for the previous owner of my house and I decided to try them out when it came to annual services. They are truly excellent; very professional. Gary was the person who came to my house. He was very tidy. Blankets were put everywhere and he always had the vacuum at hand. Plus he knew exactly how each piece of coal fitted. I have this before in my old home when the guy had no idea and it caused problems. This is so vital to ensure not just a good effect but not to cause damage to the sides of the fire itself. And at the end he black sprayed all of the coals and the interior of the fire so that it looks as new. Really great service and I thoroughly recommend them
