Lovely place to have a hot or cold drink sitting out in the sunshine. Also vegan options in the food menu, the lemon cake was nice. Usually I sit in the garden with a oat latte and enjoy the sunshine. The decor inside is stunning and the service is friendly. Great place to spend time and relax.

Stayed for 1 night, we had a self-catering room which was spacious. Lovely views from our large windows. It's a lovely old building with high ceilings. The bar area is nice and the cafe/bar outside is a nice area. The breakfast was really good. Staff friendly and helpful. The price I paid was reasonably.

We attended the ‘Friends Fighting Cancer’ charity day at the Mansion. It was really lovely - the grounds are gorgeous! The food looked lovely on the BBQ but we only purchased snacks during this visit. The whole event was structured very well - the kids loved the bouncy castles and petting zoo. Will definitely be back with the kids for a walk around the grounds and a hot drink from the cabin. The food looks delicious too so will have to arrange a meal in the near future too.

8 of us came here for an Afternoon Tea at £25 per head. The sandwiches were stone cold and stale so one of our group complained and the Waiter said he would fetch some more. He came back and said the Kitchen staff agreed the white bread was not up to standard and they would make more with the brown bread instead. At £25 per head it’s really not good enough to serve stale sandwiches. When the brown ones came they were equally cold and stale so definitely not freshly made. We were hungry as you only get equivalent to 2 slices of bread each, so we ate them anyway. The scones were nice but the little fancy cakes were dried up and very unappetizing like the ones you would get at the Pound shop. My husband and I decided we would not eat them and most of the others agreed they didn’t fancy theirs either and decided we would take them home for the Children instead (they never ate them either). We asked for tap water for our table which came in bottles and were room temperature so not pleasant to drink. Why on earth couldn’t they be stored in a Fridge? All in all a very disappointing Lunch. We will not be returning.

Have had lunch/dinner a few times here now and it’s always been lovely. Recently had a pod for a work night out and we all loved it! The food was great and the pods are a brilliant idea! Beautiful grounds too! Also love the dog friendly vibe!

I stay here (fairly) regularly for work which is around 2 nights a month and I have been staying for around a year. Each time, I am warmly greeted, well looked after and impressed. Anna on reception is an absolute asset and such a great ambassador for the hotel, she is warm and genuine. The rooms are great, spacious and well appointed. The menus have been updated but were already good and the F&B staff are great too (there’s a blonde lady who often is in the restaurant at breakfast who’s great too). I really enjoy staying here as do a number of my colleagues and we have continually been impressed. I have even had large (10+) business lunches and the standard has been excellent. Thanks for always looking after me!

We came to the mansion after hearing great things about the setting itself & the entertainment provided. We chose a Friday evening in June, due to my wife's penchant for a bit of jazz & a scheduled saxophonist. The setting is beautiful. The saxophonist was very talented & made for a more than pleasant backdrop. Unfortunately, that is where the positives stop. The uncleared outdoor tables were all full of dirty glasses meaning that after one drink we were provided with plastic "glasses", the service at the outdoor Cabin bar was worse than slow with a 15 minute wait for even a simple two drink order, the staff were seemingly unwilling to do much work after being asked multiple times to clear our table & responding with "if I have time" and they ran out of ice at 8pm. There was also a random dog running around in the garden annoying all of the guests. Not somewhere we will bother with again. Shame, as it didn't even seem to busy a night & it could have been great. EDIT (following the owners reply): Dog; I appreciate a dog friendly establishment, I have dogs. However, I didn't see any member of staff, at any point, attempt to address the clear issue with this particular animal at that specific time. Glasses; The suggestion that plastic glasses were used as a safety precation is ridiculous. There were glass glasses in circulation all evening & staff made it clear that they had run out. They even found multiple boxes of fresh glasses a bit later & restocked the bar. In short, they couldn't keep up with the glass washing to the point where glasses were being washed by hand in the cabin, which I am sure doesnt provide the expected, or even an acceptable, level of sanitisation. I appreciate the time taken to reply, but please, don't insult my intelligence.

We all had a wonderful time here in the pod celebrating my birthday, as I wanted to do something a little different and make it special. Well it definitely is just that. So book a pod if that what you want.. Inside the pods it's nice and warm. The look lovely in the day and evening. Even in the rain it doesn't effect the sound inside. The light in there is good and you can turn it down. They have blankets, music a heater and air conditioning unit. Led lights are a nice touch also. The table is round and the middle bit turns so it's easy for everyone to get to their food and drinks. The food here is delicious I had the prawns for the starter, they give you what you pay for which is plenty and the garlic bread was the best I've ever had too. I had the fish for main and that was called Hake and it was one I'd never had before and was cooked perfectly. Though added a little too much (liquid) broth in the dish but could not really complain as it was delicious. My friends enjoyed their dishes also which were the breads and belly pork. Mains were the 3 burgers, chicken, beef and vegetarian. The only thing was the beef burger was a little dry. The other two were perfect. I think I can say for all of us we were very happy!! It was a great idea the way they get the food to you still warm and it works perfectly. The waiter Ashley was amazing and very attentive. 100% service. Always asking if everything was ok and if we needed anymore to drink. He suggested a jug a of drink we chose too which was a great idea. He really was lovely and had us all laughing, he's an asset to your members of staff. He even got my cake to the pod without me seeing which was really thoughtful of him. I must say we an idea, of some kind of poncho or rain Mac, as we watched him get wet in the rain. There could be a more central path from the car park this is my suggestion as we we got there it was raining and big puddles to walk around. I will definitely be back!!

I booked into a dog friendly room and was very impressed. There was a comfortable bedroom, kitchen and living room, and a small bathroom. I was not in the main Manor but in one of the annexes. This was brilliant as I could park right outside the room. There was a large garden just behind with grass that my dog enjoyed rolling on right away, and she was allowed in almost all the main areas of the hotel. The staff were friendly and I wish I had been able to stay more than just one night. I'm sure that if I have any cause to be in that area again in the future, this is the hotel I would choose without hesitation. My only complaint is that the window in the bathroom was clear on one pane of glass, which meant that if I had wanted to use the shower, I would have been visible to the outside world.

From the outside, the hotel looks very grand. Inside is a little different. They have not quite got their act together yet. The room was more of a studio which was very useful if you wanted to cook your own meals etc, it had a lounge, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It all felt a little "cold" however, not in temperature, but in the fact that it had a plastic wooden floor and it felt a little "Bare". In the lounge, only 3 of the 6 spotlights worked in the ceiling. The TV did not have a good reception for BBC channels so they flickered all the time and I could not watch them. Cracked tiles in the bathroom floor. The toilet seat was not the correct size for the toilet. The bed, even though comfortable, had seen better days. I believe that this hotel could be turned into a 5* hotel if a little more work was done.

My friends and I had a gorgeous meal on Saturday afternoon. Our annual autumnal meal was made so special in the lovely pods. The roast dinner was great, as was our waiter, Harry. He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed including more blankets, an extra heater, he changed the lights on our pod and took a photo for us too. I highly recommend for a lovely experience of dining outside in a beautiful setting

Hired a pod for a friend's special birthday celebrations. Stunning ambience in the dark. Food and drinks were amazing. Pod was cold we mentioned it to staff as we were sat in our coats. Asked for blankets, none available. Only heat source seemed to be a patio heater on the ceiling. Didn't ruin our experience but it could have been better. I have since raised this with the management as I want other people not to be impacted and enjoy their experience.

Had a super breakfast at the Mansion yesterday - choices on the menu and the food was excellent - very well presented. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and taken to our table and served by a lovely young waiter, Harry - he was most attentive and very personable. This is my second visit to The Mansion and I’m sure it won’t be the last. Can recommend without hesitation.

Very impressive building from the outside, but the inside does not replicate this. If offered room 205, request a different room immediately. One part of the room was a live building site. One window had no shutter or curtain to stop the morning light. Windows are single pane so noisy and drafty. The shower / toilet is so small the door only half opens before it hits the sink! And the dining table looked like it was from a butcher's shop. Mishmash of cutlery, plates, glasses, etc. No washing up sponge supplied plus no tray to bake goods on in the oven. After one night we complained and got a marginally better room, but still not worth the £150 per night price tag - probably worth half that at a push. Saving grace and winner of the second star are the staff and the food. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is fresh and tasty. This could be such a nice hotel, but is a long way short of the mark. I saw another review that said visit the hotel but book into a Premier Inn - I'd agree with that!

I stopped for a coffee and a cake with some friends on a Sunday morning at The Mansion At Coldeast. It was quite an surprise when you first arrive, as this spectacular building just seems to appear out of nowhere. We sat in one of the tasteful lounges and had coffee and some seriously amazing cakes. The bar staff who brought out drinks and cake were all very friendly. Overall, we had a lovely couple of hours and I would certainly return in the summer to enjoy a drink or two on their terrace!

Lovely location for an Afternoon Tea, let down by cafe crockery and not a cake fork in sight. (grubby plates, had to send back) and lacking in the finer detail and less than average attention from unatetive staff. Disappointed for the price

Beautiful location. Rooms are tired and need updating. Broken furniture, badly scuffed table, tiny bathroom. Room wasn't ready for number of persons booked soon rectified. Just the little things weren't there not enough towels, no pillow cases for spare pillows. No shower mat horrible shower curtain... Having said all of this the staff are lovely and the grounds are beautiful.

We stayed here for a couple of nights. The online booking process was very simple and efficient. The staff on arrival are helpful. The rooms are a good size. One thing to note is the building doesn’t have a lift and due to the high ceilings there are quite a few stairs up there the higher floors. We did experience some noise from below but nothing excessive. Breakfast is well cooked and presented and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Had lunch today with my two daughters. The setting is perfect and the staff helpful. I had quiche, chips and salad. Really lovely. My daughters had chicken and fishcake. Both delicious. Definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful wonderful place! Had my wedding reception here after being a regular for a long time! Every single member of staff always go the extra mile and nothing is too much! They always remember you and make you feel so welcome! The food at our wedding was incredible and Kathryn the weddings and event manager was incredible! She has such a kind heart , she remembers all the little things, she is wonderful at her job and couldn't do it any better! You always leave her feeling boosted! Thank you everyone so much! No doubt we will be back soon!

The food here is always great. I’ve had afternoon tea in the pods and food on multiple occasions and always had a great time. Considering the reviews are so good I was expecting great things when I booked a stay for my wedding anniversary however it wasn’t up to par. The floor was so dirty my feet were black after a couple of hours. The bedside tables had dust all over them, the big table for dining was scratched and ruined and made it feel really dingy. The plates in the cupboard were dirty so I had to wash them again and the bin smelled really bad. I was surprised that when I opened the microwave it was clean inside. There was hair all over the bed sheets and the bedside light didn’t work (I think it may be a safety hazard with an exposed bent wire). The bathroom sink had white flem stuck in it so I had to hose it down with fairy liquid and the plug itself was rotten. The location is fab and my room overlooked both the pods and the drive but unfortunately that’s not enough to make me want to stay here ever again. Not worth it at all.

We had our wedding ceremony/reception at the Mansion and what a beautiful venue! The day went amazingly smoothly thanks to the help of all the very attentive staff, a special thank you to Kathryn, everyone felt taken care of and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The chefs did an amazing job, the food was superb!

A very lovely place upon arriving. The reception staff are very professional and friendly. The room was a bit difficult to navigate to and should be made clear there's a maze to get to the apartment styled rooms in the basement. We went out to the outdoor cafe area and found the staff on Wednesday evening (28 June) to be lacking any motivation to be attentive, friendly or even give a toss about people seeking service. It was the inside staff that reacted and ended up serving us. The breakfast staff were lovely.

We've had many lovely meals at The Mansion, from brunches to birthday meals and it never fails to impress! Food is delicious, rooms and decor is beautiful and the staff are fantastic - shout out to Dylan in particular who is a real asset to the Mansion team.

The mansion looks beautiful from the outside. The restaurant and bar are also lovely. We had drinks in the bar, which had great cocktails. We also had breakfast each morning and it was delicious, although we ordered the same food each morning the portion sizes were inconsistent. All staff were friendly during our whole stay. The apartment rooms were large and although they were clean they were quite basic and a bit scruffy, they could do with some TLC.

We had an awesome time. It was my husband 50th. We went with another family. The staff could not be more helpful and so friendly. The sun shone the whole time. We played rounders ,ball games and ate lots. Breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to all staff especially Anna and Demi . We had the up graded room and it was well worth it. Shall be returning. Thanks again .

A very romantic and quite unique hotel surrounded by a large park and old trees. Currently my favorite place to stay whenever I am in the area. Every room is different and sometimes a bit quirky, but also equipped with a small kitchen for snacks or even a meal. The staff is super friendly, with Anna at reception being one of my favorite. Breakfast is a dream, with a to-order menu, including pancakes and eggs royale. The restaurant is super. Looking forward for my next visit!

Had a lovely roast dinner here on a busy Sunday. Food was served promptly & extra gravy was provided when asked for (both meat and vegetarian). There seemed to be too many servers stood around waiting for something to do, and so were just chatting at the entrance to the main dining area. These chats meant avoiding eye contact with customers trying to get their attention.

I came today with a group of friends and we dined in one of the pods and what a unique and fantastic experience it was. It was an intimate experience and was a great chance to be outdoors but also be covered if the weather turned for the worse. 5 of us had afternoon tea, 4 of us had vegetarian. One of us couldn't have egg, so they were able to change the filling for her, which was appreciated. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. They don't do vegan afternoon teas, which is a shame but my friend had a vegan lunch and was very happy. The service was fantastic and the staff friendly and professional. The setting and the house is absolutely beautiful and everything was perfectly landscaped you can see it's well looked after. Highly recommend the Mansion at Coldeast.

Great place to book a private party. Loads of car park. Pretty outlook. Nice little bar, clean loos. Much if not all refurbished. Not sure what te room cost as we we guests but certainly would get a quote if we needed similar facilities.

The Events team and Restaurant team were brilliant in helping me organise a surprise birthday dinner for 24 people which went off without any issues on Saturday night. All the guests enjoyed their dinner and felt they were well looked after by the restaurant team. Would recommend this venue for a special occasion.

  • 3/5 Philip R. 2 years ago on Google
Very busy, as we attended during royal celebrations, so everything was slowed down. A very long wait in the bar. This would have been worth it had a cask conditioned ale been available. Very courteous service in our pod, but limited vegetarian options. The taxi service seemed confused about accessing the establishment, so perhaps this could be made more intuitive. It was a good venue for a special celebration but perhaps prohibitive for most pockets, just wanting a meal out.
