Awful service, has got worse since being taken over by Living Well. Tried to make an appointment, fairly urgently and was told it didn't matter how urgent it was and to come back at 2pm. On arriving at the surgery later to try and make the appointment, I found the surgery was closed from 1pm. How a receptionist can be that useless to not have thought to mention it I have no idea. This is not the first time I have received shockingly bad service from this surgery and every time I've been in, I've heard plenty of other patients complaining about it. Totally unacceptable customer service, the practise should be ashamed of themselves.

Recent update on the previous review below: I don't really know if this surgery is practicing anymore as everytime we fill in an online consultation and need to be seen by the doctor we get seen at Weston Lane Surgery which is miles away and if someone doesn't own a car is very costly to get there by taxi. Also almost every vaccination received is at the Weston Lane Surgery, so really I don't know what Bitterne Park Surgery does anymore, it must be really a relaxing place to work due to lack of patients!!! What happened to this place! We were with this surgery since 1994 and then the doctors were like family doctors where they knew you by name and came to do house visits. It has gone completely downhill throughout the years and now I can't even get an answer on the phone to make an appointment, and when I do, in the very rare circumstances, the appointment given will be in two to three weeks time when by then with all the suffering either one will get better and no need for the appointment or one may die and save them the hassle. The NHS is an absolute sham these days .

Since the surgery became part of the living well partnership, this place has gone downhill dramatically. The receptionists are rude and aggressive, it can take days to get through on the phone to make an appointment to see a doctor or nurse and then if you are luckily enough to get through and get an appointment, on average it is for 2 weeks’ time. Yesterday I had an appointment with the most uninterested and condescending doctor that I have ever had the misfortune to see. Within a minute of being in the consulting room, I was told that he did not have time to discuss the drugs that I was on (which was part of my reason for the appointment). In fact I was made to feel that I was just wasting his time, because I asked for written confirmation of my MRI scan the resulting diagnosis, the fact that I needed written confirmation of my condition for insurance reason was to him a waste of his time and inconvenient for him. I am sorry but I live in constant pain (am under the pain team), and it effect my day to day living, to me is very important.

Absolutely awful. Avoid if you can. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This surgery has gone downhill so badly in the last 4 years. I can't get to other practices, there is a reason why I registered with a local practice! Been trying to see a doctor for many months but that's impossible. I even filled out an eConsult form but there is no option to select when they call you. So the one time they called, I was on a work call and couldn't pick it up quick enough. I have been trying to speak to someone but when you are position 16 in a queue and have been on the phone for 30 minutes, you lose the will. My consultant has also asked my doctor to change my prescription but that hasn't happened and you can't speak to anyone to discuss it. And the reception staff.....well whilst I appreciate they are on the front line, there is no need to be so rude to us all. Respect is a two way street! I should add that I will be writing to my MP about this practice. The lack of care is shocking. There clearly is not enough doctors and this isn't an issue that has arisen during Covid times, this has been going on for several years now. Enough is enough. Clearly considering profit over patients!

I have done E-Consult after E-Consult to try and get some serious sense out of this god awful surgery in regards to my pain - Today I was completely ignored after completing an E-Consult in regards to Feminine issues and sent a pretentious text message about being prescribed pain killers for my “Symptoms” with no actual phone call. After speaking to one of the oblivious reception workers who insisted they were open, I have now been told that I am unable to speak with a Doctor and I must complete yet ANOTHER E-Consult to speak with the Doctor although this is exactly what I did earlier today. The surgery is an absolute joke, I have been with them my whole life and over the last 20 years it has done nothing but go rapidly downhill, and this shows from all of the good doctors leaving and being replaced with those who couldn’t care less. The 1.4 star reviews on Google really speaks for what this surgery stands for - Never the care of their patients but the funding from the Government they rely so much on in order to stay open. Avoid at all costs!

Polite receptionist, easy to sign in for my blood test and very friendly nurse who took my blood away. I arrived early for my appointment and was seen 5 mins before I was due to be seen. All good. 👍

2.5+ hours over 4 consecutive days on the phone trying to get a triage appt. Was told when finally got through that I'd be called back next morning - nothing. Called back and they said no record of me calling previous day. Variation to this on next call was the claim that they called me twice - nothing though no missed calls. Oh and expect to wait at least 40 mins on the phone, start a conversation and then be hung up on, and have the delight of doing it all again. EDIT: 3 years later and the service has not improved. Now even e-consult is not available at key times (how does an online form close for up to 4 days?!) When you do use it, again expect to chase, be ignored, resubmit and maybe eventually possibly get an answer a week later

It's not the 'Living Well Partnership'. it's more like the 'Living Hell Partnership'. Since they've merged, the service is abysmal. You're lucky if you even get to speak to a Doctor on the phone. Unfortunately, you cannot leave a 0 star review.

Absolutely disgraceful practice. Waited 4 days to be contacted by a Dr regarding my 9yr old child. They eventually called while we were sat in A and E. Further promise of a call back regarding blood test results and further investigation for myself and guesse what... no call back.

Absolute shocking that this surgery is still in existence and hasn’t caused patients to be more sick than when began their interaction with the surgery. My bad experiences are numerous but for now I will stick to the lates. Rang surgery as advised by government and nhs app as my son is classed as a priority case under the government guidelines. Yet when I enquired about 4 weeks ago telephoning informed me he wasn’t classed as this. So I asked for someone to contact us so we can find out what is happening 4 weeks later and several attempts at contacting them still nothing. When I rang this morning the telephoning responded saying notes are on screen to contact us but no actions. Unbelievable! I won’t go into the further conversation as too long. I willbe changing surgeries immediately as this surgery appears to have unempathetic staff who feel irritated when required to their job - the one they are paid for, and by my our taxes! Very poor bedside manner to say the least

During my consultation I had to tell the doctor through choked back tears that I can't remember the last time I went a single day without feeling suicidal. At the end of the consultation I was told the doctor did not know any form of therapy I could have that I haven't already tried. Today that doctor has crushed a major hope for getting better.

If I could rate it 0 stars I would, they have consistantly lacked a duty of care for someone in severe chronic pain and have been for 10 years. Actively ignored me, refused to put me on decent medication to manage my life and will happily let me live a life of misery or kill my self instead of looking at my like a human being with real problems who needs help and support. Disgusting place and I cannot believe I've lasted this long here. Avoid or change surgery's.

Currently still trying to book an appointment. Been on the call for 14 minutes so far and still only got to number 9 in the queue. How can these people still be operating in Southampton. They are a disgrace to the medical profession. 17 minutes now, still no. 9 in the queue. The repeated message also lies as it says if econsult done before 3.30pm will get same day response, just got email saying by 6.30pm tomorrow. Joke. Now at position 6. Now at no. 5. 22 minutes so far. Now at position 3, 26 minutes. Nearly half an hour. I'm through hooray oh wait, not hooray I can't book an urgent appointment on the phone I have to wait for a doctor to call me at 4.50pm today.

I have belonged to this surgery for about 6 years now and luckily very rarely require them, but have always had a good experience when I have. All the staff are friendly, make you feel welcome and the receptionists are really helpful if you ask them anything. I have overheard them being really helpful to others too as I'm sitting in the waiting room. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that I find the e-consult form a bit frustrating to use. It frees up the phone lines, which is great, but it isn't always clear which route to take and if you select the wrong thing initially, you get asked lots of questions not relevant to your needs of course. There are also a lot of questions, so it takes some time to complete. Some questions are repeated in the same form, such as 'are you pregnant?'. It must be this way for a reason, but just feels not very user friendly.

If I was to write a review a year ago it would of been 1 star. However, the past year I feel the surgery has made a positive progress. The reception team are very friendly and professional. Call waiting times are now very short, when I do an econsult I’m contacted within a few hours and not waiting days for a response. The one thing I will say is sometimes I prefer face to face appointments at my own surgery instead of travelling else where but I understand at times this cannot be helped. Keep up the progress bitterne park :)

I have genuinely been really impressed with this doctors - E-consultant is brilliant and they almost always ring you back the next day. I’ve had to book an emergency appointment and again, been seen same day. Receptionists were lovely and blood test incredibly efficient.

Try and guess which reviews are paid for.. Are the results of this friends and family test publicly available? Because all of my family and friends have nothing good to say about this surgery. I have no suggestions for your improvement as I have already changed to a much better surgery. Thanks.

Despite being an asthmatic, take heart meds and have to deal with other health issues as they arise, I haven’t had a face to face appointment with a Doctor since 2017. This model does not work for the patient in the community.

I have nothing good to say about this so-called 'living well' partnership. If i cd find another local GP surgery i would be there like a shot. The e-consult system is not set up with neurodivergent people in mind. I waited 8 weeks to see a GP about an ear-problem. It is impossible to get a repeat prescription as if you follow their instructions and use the NHS app - you can't send new messages to your GP. They don't take prescription renewals over the phone. It takes ages to speak to someone on the phone. It takes ages for people to call back when and if you have made a successful e-consult, I have often had to use NHS 111 to get GP appointments, which i feel dreadful about as that is not what it is there for, but needs must.

doctors and nurses are good but you have to phone a main line to make an appointment for 2 weeks time and can only phone between 8.30 am and 10 then after 2 pm. Its impossible to get through straight away and when you do eventually get through you are told all the appointments for 2 weeks time are gone and to phone back tomorrow. Even regular doctors left as they didn't like this new supposedly better system. Who know they are going to be ill in 2 weeks and if you are you could be better by the time you get to see a doctor. you could if urgent get sent to another surgery withing the new service which could be a few miles away. you can only register with your surgery if you live within the area but then they can send you anywhere. If you phone for repeat sick notes or to query medication they always say they will get back to you but never do. they didn't seem to pass messages on. The whole system is a mockery and no-one wants this when feeling unwell. I had tests on lump in throat at start of year as they thought it was cancerous I waited over 8 weeks for results even though I was seen at hospital within a couple of days. and got results from hospital before doctors knew. Medication that I was supposed to be put on for 6 weeks after tests was not even prescribed until afer 5 weeks as although requested though new system several times no-one did a prescription

Patient here for 7yrs+, never needed them before now & am realising how utterly awful this surgery is. Will start looking to register somewhere else ASAP. Had an accident at work, no appointments, only tele consult. Requested a fit note for 2 weeks, waited 5 days & got a note for 1 week with the wrong dates on it. Rang to query, told request a new note. Asked for 2 weeks, waited another 3 days & got a note for 1 week. Half way through that week I requested another note, received email from surgery, saying they would reply to my request by 18:30 on Fri latest, No reply or new note has been received. Meanwhile my employer is understandably losing their patience. So to recap, I’ve requested 3 fit notes for a 5 week period & only received 2 notes covering a 2 week period.

They need to disband the stupid living well partnership. All that it's achieved is there now being a complete lack of doctors and nurses available to actually help people. Some people, myself included, struggle to travel to other surgeries and therefore need to be seen at their local one. I called as soon as they opened at 8am this morning as had been advised by 111 to do so. I was told by the surgery receptionist that I would get a call today. Got a call back at 9.45 telling me I wouldn't be seen or called back today and to go to the other side of Southampton to the hospital. Only after crying down the phone was I then put on hold and told that oh actually I would get a call today. Absolutely useless service who doesn't care about the people that have been put under their care. Would give 0 stars if possible.

I moved over to Living Well Partnership in September 2022 and I can say that the support I have received as been fantastic. The surgery I have gone to is Bitterne Park Surgery and every time I have needed help with various health issues, they have tried their hardest. I am finally in a surgery were they believe you on your health issues. I am so happy change to the surgery and so happy with the help I have received
