Hit a six in shivaji park. It is a public park. situated in dadar mumbai.(west side 200 mtrs from this park dadar sea view ) It is the largest park in mumbai city. It is 113,000 square metres(28 acares) area. The historical and cultural value because of the political and social gatherings it has witnessed, both in pre- and post-independence Mumbai. The park has a variety of sports facilities including cricket, cricket nets, tennis courts, a mallakhamba (traditional sports like yoga, gymnastics and wrestling ) and a football pitch amongst others. A popular hangout for the young and old alike. The paved walkway around this perimeter is crowded with joggers and people taking walks.

It is good, beautiful. 😍The park is very well maintained. We had a nice time there. We had an awesome experience 💁with a squirrel who are from my daughter's hand. It was quite thrilling. I couldn't capture the moment. We fed crows and squirrels. They are very friendly 🤗. They really without hesitation come to you and take things from your hands 😘.

Shivaji Park, officially named the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park, is a public park situated in Dadar, Mumbai. It is the largest park in the island city. Similar to the Azad Maidan and August Kranti Maidan (formerly Gowalia Tank Grounds), it is of historical and cultural value because of the political and social gatherings it has witnessed, both in pre- and post-independence Mumbai. The 113,000 square metres (28 acres) of open space is renowned as having been a cradle of the game of cricket in India. The park has a variety of sports facilities including cricket nets, tennis courts, a Mallakhamba area and a football pitch amongst others. The park was established in 1925 by the Bombay Municipal Corporation, during British Rule. It was known as the Mahim Park until 1927, when it was renamed after the 17th century king of the region, Shivaji, at the behest of a municipal councilor, Avantika Gohkale.[7] The Shivaji Park Gymkhana, then known as the Dadar Hindu Gymkhana, opened its first Tennis court on the grounds in 1927 and inaugurated its pavilion in November 1931.[8] Besides being a venue for gatherings of freedom fighters in British India, after independence in 1947, Shivaji Park was the focal point of the Samyukta Maharashtra Chalval (the struggle for a consolidated Maharashtra) that led to the present Indian state of Maharashtra being formed in 1960. During this period, the legendary writer, journalist, playwright, poet and social leader Acharya Prahlad Keshav Atre led this movement, addressing crowds of hundreds of thousands at this ground, earning him the title of the 'Lord of Shivaji Park'. The statue of Shivaji, found on the western side of the park is one of the very few statues in which he is depicted without having drawn out his sword. Instead, Shivaji is shown simply leading the way with his arm outstretched. Sculpted in 1966 using donations from the local population, the statue is a rare example of the pacifist policies of the then state government of Maharashtra. It was considered a sensitive issue by the government to let this statue not depict the usual confrontational posture of Shivaji, who had fought many battles against the Mughal Empire.[citation needed]

Great place for all Indian snacking. The food is extremely hygienic and very tasty. It’s a very only establishment and they have successfully managed to maintain the standard of taste and service. The snacks are very pocket friendly. They make all their food in pure ghee. Their sweets are to die for.

A big play ground in the centre of Mumbai city. The park is not a park actually but very famous due to the historical significance this ground holds in Mumbai. Many a political meetings and events have taken place at this place. The playground was marked and named after shivaji the greatest son of maharshtra in 1935. A gracious horse bourne statue is also erected there. The ground is home to a host of cricket clubs which have produced big names of cricket like sandeep patil, Sachin and vinod. The erstwhile mayor residence stood nearby. Also scout pavilion , samrtha vyaayam mandir, Shivaji park gymkhana, kabaddi association and juvenile club are the prestigious institutions inside the park . A ganesh temple and a kali temple also are there . Earlier you could relish chaat inside the park but now that’s not available . You must taste the Bhaji Paav of Shivaji park though. A new toilet block is erected conveniencing the many visitors to the park.

~ Tewari Brothers ~ They are absolute masters of their craft! What we ordered : 1. Giant Raj Kachori - Unbeatably Large & delicious (one enough for 2) - INR 300/- 2. Samosa - Perfect crispy and great stuffing 3. Dhokla - Soft and dissolvable 4. Pani Puri - Flavourfully cold 5. Gulab Jamun - Balanced in sweet, super fresh. We travel all the way from Chembur to have these snacks here. They are prepared in the best of the oils with top quality ingredients. Tewari's are quite well known in this area, hence the fresh stock gets finished with 2hrs once the shop opens in the morning. The various sweets are of fantastic quality and quite well balanced in sweetness. Staff is helpful and delivers prompt service. Below are the street food items we had infront of Pancharatna Building : 1: Kichiya Papad - INR 120/- MUST TRY! Very lite on stomach with all the salad on it. As weightless as a cotton. No oil, papad is baked on coal. 2. Sandwich - Value for money! Go for it. Pro Tip for Tewari : There is only 2 tables inside with 7 chairs, so if you are a big group and wants to sit there, call them from google and book the table in advance. Else you will have to stand as the tables are almost always occupied. We had hard time on it.

A common meeting point. This park is one of the largest in this crowded city. It provides a much needed recreational space for residents around the park. There is a gym facility also at the park while one corner of the park is dedicated to senior citizens and children. You also get decent options of snacks around the park.

Its a good place for kids to play there are many youngsters who practise their dance and co curricular skills here during the morning there are yoga sessions but i guess you have to enroll for them a good place for senior citizens to hangout with a view of the sea link bridge there are some exercise setups too a mini park for the kids with slides a washroom a hangout place for youngsters more of like a stage. Best time would be in the evening but its crowded and some lovers kissing will make it awkward for some other people if you go in the afternoon i would suggest to sit near the sea side because the temperature is too harsh i saw some stray dogs so may be dogs are also allowed other wise as a personal experience i prefer to go during the morning times less crowd fresh air You will feel more down to earth.

One of most preferred places for sports activities but it's not maintained and taken care as per it's sanctity. Lacking in maintenance. Ground is full of uneven surfaces. Difficult for runners. No tracks. No courts. Govt must take good initiative &measures to beautify it and add facilities and infrastructure so as help our players and sports athletes

Shivaji Park is among the top 3 iconic and must visit places in Mumbai. It is located right at the centre of the city. The park is a playground with budding cricketers Pra it icing to hone their skills in one of the many clubs. Apart from cricket there are many sports which are played here like malkhamb, yoga, kabbadi Kho Kho. Chaitya bhumi and Dadar chow patty is stones throw away from Shivaji Park. Many political rallies also happen at Shivaji Park and the most famous and crowded being on 6th December where followers of Dr. Ambedkar gather to remember him on his death anniversary. You cannot complete your visit to Mumbai till you don’t visit Shivaji Park. People from all walks of life come here to spend quality time. If you want to experience the Marathi aura of this great city you should visit Shivaji Park. It is also very live and vivid on festivals like Diwali, New year, Independence Day, Makar Sankranti etc.

It has a feel of nature and has amazing places for adults and children to develop physically and mentally... Just the benches are few due to the increasing crowd but tree and squirrels are many (so you don't even notice the crowd)... Amazing wind blows and calming vibes are present as well... You can see people enjoying themselves at every corner through running, celebration of birthday etc, yoga, etc.. It has clean and free washrooms as well as drinking water areas...

Shivaji park is not just a place it is an emotion, it is a feeling. A feeling of home overcomes you, it is a place where much of dadar west grows up. You see people of all ages frequenting this place every single day, maybe to have corn chaat or get some exercise or just to catch up with friends. There's gymnastics classes, gyms, food stalls, temples, halls, memorials and without a doubt you will find a person you know there. Shivaji park is truly a hub of activity where there's something for everyone. Basically, huge ground. With trees and people.

Associated with Shivaji Park for many years. We had our school next to it, so Shivaji Park has been the part of our life. During school days, this lush green ground was our PT ground and many cultural programs used to take place here. In the evening, we used to play cricket or football here. It has a majestic statue of horse-bound Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. For many years, it was the place where political rallies took place. Many Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers and politicians have organised their political programs here. But now, due to High Courts ruling, use of Shivaji Park for political rallies has been stopped. Shivaji Park is kind of cultural and sport center of Dadar as well as Mumbai. Many monumental institutions are part of it. It is one of the important places where Mumbai (and for that matter Indian) cricket flourished. Shivaji Park Gymkhana, Bengal club are some of the stalwarts, which have their cricket coaching organized here. Many schools have their nets and cricket training done here. The main Shivaji Park Gymkhana holds much of the sporting activities. Large tennis arena has been made available for the tennis players here. Shivaji Park is also the center of indigenous sports under the institution called Samarth Vyayam Mandir, situated at one of the corners of the park. You can learn ancient Indian sports like Mallakhamb, Kho-Kho etc. here. The tradition of sports of Indian origin has been kept alive here at Samarth Vyayam Mandir. Shivaji Park is also the home of Maharashtra Kabbadi Association and Shivaji Park Nagarika Sangh, the cultural organization of the citizens of Shivaji park area. Bharat Scout and Guide Association's Pavilion is another place for cultural activities. Udyan Ganesh, the temple of Lord Ganapati, is another monument to be admired at Shivaji Park. The temple area is nicely decorated. Currently, the place is largely used for exercises like walking, jogging, physical training apart from sports. This is also the chilling out place for the young crowd of the area. The place is surrounded by places which serve delicious food. Its a must visit place for every young and old alike. There is a saying in the area, for the one who has been associated, atleast for some time, with Shivaji Park, "You can take a person out of Shivaji Park but you cannot take Shivaji Park out of the person". Dr. Prasad Akolkar
