We had a wonderful stay at the Palacio del Carmen. The hotel building was originally a convent and it has been renovated and converted into a beautiful hotel. It’s an 8-minute walk to the cathedral which means the hotel is very quiet, unlike some of the other hotels in Santiago. We also had a great meal in the dining room, one of the best of our trip. Highly recommended.

We stayed as a small family (1 toddler + 2 adults) in the junior suite. Pros: + Location is relatively good. + very quiet and peaceful + Well maintained grounds + friendly staff +free parking on site Cons: - furniture is old and not very well maintained, bathroom had no fan or window. (the mini bar door for example was broken) - shampoo and shower gel bottles where empty - almost no food options for lactose and gluten intolerant diet or vegetarian / vegan. Even when contacted in advance. They made a nice enough salad but never got more options in our few days there. - no food options from about 3pm-8.30pm and nothing avail for delivery during that time, and we did not realize until it was too late. - checked in slightly early. There were no porters at the entrance to help with luggage. We were told our room would be cleaned within 30 minutes which is fair enough. We went for late lunch for an hour. On return to reception we then waited another 10 minutes as key cards were not yet set, and the luggage had not yet been sent upstairs. We waited 20 minutes in room for luggage to arrive. Not a 5 star experience, considering they had over an hour and hotel was very quiet. Other - no upgrade offered despite platinum member of bonvoy. But maybe the junior suite was the highest on offer.

A super hotel in Santiago de Compostela. The building is ancient, but well renovated and maintained. The rooms are quite spacious and well furnished. The main attractions of the city are within walking distance. Their breakfast is purely Spanish, and is top.

If you are looking for an experience rather than just a hotel, this is the place for you! The hotel is located in an old convent and it's charme has been kept up! The rooms are good, the service very friendly and professional (especially during breakfast). The breakfast buffet had good quality and is located in a precious dining hall of the old convent, complete with a marvelous painted ceiling. Definitely recommend this place to stay in Santiago with a medieval feel!

This is a very nice hotel with large rooms that is a short walk from the Cathedral and many restaurants. The rooms were spacious and the setting is a former nunnery. The breakfast was very large with lots of fruit and different pastries to choose from. The rooms were clean and the staff are very helpful. We really liked the Spanish decor.

had expectations for a 5-star experience during my stays at this hotel. While the rooms are spacious, they feel dated, especially the bathrooms. The towel quality didn't meet my expectations. A significant concern was the bed's comfort - with a thin mattress, basic pillows, and a bed base that creaked and shifted. The breakfast was commendable, but I missed having a-la-carte options and barista-made coffee.

Five stars well deserved! The hotel staff were very accommodating and avsilable to help: Karel was at the front desk and gave us lot of helpful advice to make the most of the little time we had in Santiago. Room was impeccable: one of the most authentic Marriott rooms I ever had. 👌🏻 The breakfast is amazing and you get free parking as well. Keep it up team Palacio del Carmen.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Everyone working there is very helpful and kind, always with a smile! The room was big enough and has a garden view. Interior decoration and design was really cool. I really like when hotels don’t destroy what is there and just apply reconstruction with small touches. Such a beautiful place with antique feeling. The hotel located very close to the Santiago Cathedral, like 10mins walking. You should try to walk through the Alameda (park) on your way to Cathedral. The attention of the staff was very pleasant and Covid measures were seriously applied. Thank you!

I'm staying here for two nights because I just finished the Camino de Santiago. What a top-notch experience from Marriott. I'm very impressed with the autograph collection hotels and their attention to detail the styling of the hotel is great, the breakfast is always amazing the attention to detail and art is fantastic and the service is the best. I always stay in autograph hotel if City has one because they're that good!

Very nice hotel, but slightly noisy: old convent, wooden floors you hear anyone walking in the room above you. Do not book a suite: at least one of the two is directly over the main ballroom and its' lobby, separated only by a small wooden floor and old ceibing. The hall is stone so you will hear everything multiplied. breakfast is very noce and the restaurant hotel is good. seimming pool available (heated to 25C). Do visit the gardens as there is quite a nice view of the Cathedral (10-15 minute walk away, uphill).

The hotel staff were excellent. Everyone with whom I interacted was very kind, attentive and helpful! They have a very good and extensive breakfast buffet. The location is a bit further from the center of old town than I would have liked but definitely not a problem - probably a 10 min walk.

Perfect place for a stay in Santiago. Really restful environment with great facilities (especially the garden!), architecture and views while being right next to center city for easy exploring. Also, the staff is excellent

This has been the best hotel in Galicia. Beds and pillows are comfortable. The hotel has a really nice relaxing vibe, great breakfast and it has a nice parking lot. We stayed here a week and it was lovely. I would stay here again.

The housekeeper ( a young lad) is super friendly and professional, I highly recommend. But the cleaning lady is rude, we haven’t checked out yet, she just knocked the door and opened the door immediately, didn’t wait us to respond, we were shocked. Report this to the front desk, the staff didn’t say a word even a sorry, just ignored our complaint, which made us feel REALLY BAD. Very unprofessional, still require more training.

Located in historic hotel not far from the Cathedral Santiago de Compostela in a very quiet neighborhood with big garden. It is a sanctuary in the very touristy and busy old town center. The room has been renovated and very clean but looks dated to me. I had one excellent dinner but for quick lunch of fish and chips was a disappointment to me. Any way there are plenty of restaurants in the walking distance around the Cathedral Santiago de Compostela. I saw a couple of sea food restaurants there one with live lobsters, live crab and spiny lobster etc.

Comfy hotel with bright, spacious rooms. Staff friendly and welcoming. In addition, it's a hotel with a unique history: it used to be a former tannery for single mothers to earn a living and the sisterhood in charge moved to a nearby location, still maintaining good relations with the hotel. The tranquility, lovely cats sunbathing in the garden, and it's proximity to the city centre makes the hotel a very good deal. However, one star was taken off as some used up items in my room was still incomplete after housekeeping. Also, "high-speed internet" often had only 1 bar and got disconnected over and over as my room was located at the end of the corridor. There's therefore still room for improvement.

Very nice hotel located 10 minutes from the Cathedral. Would recommend staying here as you get a bit of the local vibe walking through the side streets. Very well appointed.

This is a great hotel with a very walkable location. Hills, so much up and down but that is Spain and Portugal. I do enjoy coffee or tea in my room so that would have been appreciated. Lovely setting and so quiet!

The hotel is located in a very quiet place of the city and close enough to the important landmarks. Very clean and with friendly staff. They make you feel at home. Fantastic food and great room service. Confortable beds and pillows. Parking is included in the price.

For a Marriott, we we somewhat disappointed. Rooms were just okay. The bathroom was nice. The "king" bed was just two (separately made) twin beds moved together. The only dinner food we were able to get before 8:00 p.m were two kinds of soup and a ham or cheese platter with bread. The pool was about the size of a small backyard pool. Exercise room had one elliptical and one treadmill.

What a perfect place to stay after the Camino ! Extremely elegant and sophisticated property, attentive staff (special mention to Jaime at the Front Desk). We loved the room, its unique style; the garden, the pool area and of course the fantastic breakfast! Totally recommended for a 100% relaxing stay.

After four days in Spain, last night's dinner was the best in country. Excellent! Gazpacho, salad, fish & chips, cheeseburger and dessert (cheese cake with berries, apple crumble with Mexican vanilla ice cream and St. James cake (almond), were all excellent! Service was also excellent. I think this was the highest level food I've ever had in a hotel restaurant.

The hotel is at a great location, on a quiet corner, away from the main streets of Santiago, yet close enough to everything. The Cathedral is about 10 minutes walking. The building has a historic feel, and is very well maintained, clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Overall, we had a great stay and we highly recommend the hotel!

My goodness, this hotel is beautiful and the service was some of the best we experienced in town. Lovely grounds and large rooms. Feels historic but has all of the modern amenities you are looking for. A little bit of a walk from main plaza, but definitely worth it!

Only one night before leaving Santiago. Modern and well laid out. Helpful and courteous staff. Nice touches like bath robes and slippers, coffee machine and complimentary extras. Very comfortable and quiet. Easy walking distance to the city. Great to have parking! Good pillows!!

Very nice hotel in a historical building within 10 minutes walk from the cathedral. We loved the restaurant. The members of staff are remarkably kind.

Modern and simple medium sized hotel. 10 min walk to Cathedral. Nothing special but nothing bad, all ok. However 3 stars because it took us 30min to check out at 11am (with just 2 people in front of us).

A great place looking like a parador. An old style hotel with new and spacious new wing area with room. Also one of the local spots for weddings, so and interesting insights to see locals dressed up. The run/walk along the nearby river is also very amazing.
