Online reservation with English tour by Mario. With his great explanation we tour Gaudi’s genius design, natural and musical elements. What a joyful and knowledgeable time.

2 things that could be improved: the guide yells! If you are not with the group, it’s really annoying. He can speak 10x lower and people will still be able to hear him well. The video we watch in the beginning is in a room with uncomfortable benches and mal placed, if someone sits in front of you, you won’t be able to see the screen, most of the people prefer to be standing to not disturb others. The video is 12min long and it’s auto played, try to watch from the beginning (I watched the middle to the end and kept watching to see the beginning that I had missed 😅) Dogs are welcome in the garden. There was no line on Sunday afternoon. Bring earphones and your cellphone, there are QR codes and you can listen to the audio guide (several languages available). Save at least one hour for the visit, there so many details and you’re gonna love it!

Fascinating place . I really appreciate what I see. What i dislike are the guides who speak Spanish and yell horribly to the ears of other people who want to appreciate in silence. Plus, they are rude, get you out of their way, close windows for their presentation and just tell you to come back later. And funny enough everyone in the crowd finds this behaviour normal: because you are the only person against a crowd. This makes the visit not pleasant at all. For the staff and organisers: just a little hint. When you have a so precious place with so little small rooms and stairs, don’t use guides with a crowd of 20 or 30, make smaller crowd with guides who speaks normally AND in different languages and train them to be respectful of other visitors and respectful of the place. Consequently I do NOT recommend the place when guides are around and many people visiting. No go for me. Toilets are smelly and not well maintained. There is no parking for cars: the town is faulty here. Extra difficult to park; no help provided.

Fascinating house, it would be lovely to learn more about the first owner though. Below the house there are some japanese paintings that are really out of place in this magnificent house, I reckon is because the new owners are japanese. Also the access to the tower should be opened.

Very interesting and I would recommend booking on line and undertaking one of the guided tours as they are very good and informative. Ours called Mario and he was great.

Stunning inside and out down to the finest detail. Signature work of Gaudi. From floor to decorative ceilings and building façade. Staff at ticket desk were helpful. Average visit time is 45mins. But if you really want to appreciate Gaudi's work and the gardens, allow 75mins, imho.

Amazing...well worth a visit, would have liked to see more furniture of the age but so small it would be difficult to do. Loved the winow/ balcony seat. Check for parking place we were just lucky to park in road.

If you had to pick one place to visit in Comillas, I would visit the Sobrellano palace, a 45 minute tour for €5, the Capricio is interesting but not anywhere near as impressive. Oddly the Capricio was much busier, I suppose because it's by Gaudi, but then Gaudi designed bits of the Sobrellano as well.

We bought tickets in advance which you should definitely do! You can skip the long queue. We had a guided tour with Andrea, recommended. First of all, she was absolutely amazing and we got an excellent tour. Insightful and interesting. Secondly, you get some insider info with a guide and it doesn’t get boring. I want to come again

This place is beautiful! It has a lot of Gaudi's funky and fun architecture, it has a park to walk around in and you can hang out there for a while just looking and listening to the audio guide that they provide. It has some really fun show that they present in the basement and it's fun to learn about how his use of designs and colors changed the game.

We had a great time visiting around this stunning El Capricho De Gaudi. It reminds me the Park Quell and Sagrada Familia of Barcelona

One of the buildings of Gaudí not situated in Barcelona. If you would like to see even outside you have to buy ticket (7 euro per person). Now, during Covid-19 period, you should also take under consideration that entrance is not allowed every time - you should schedule for right time and with limited group.

perhaps best scene on the outside from the garden area of the sobrellano palace located next door yet accessed from the next block over to the south behind the main entrence, which will actually lead you to the front of the gaudi whim home. unfortunately most visitors miss this because the gate around the home is so tightly looped that from within the grounds you cannot get a full wide shot of the entire home or appreciate the majesty of its whimsical design; also because while at the palace you are unlikely to notice the pathway that leads behind tall shaded trees that eventually reveals the beautiful gaudi home. alternatively there is also a long residential street behind the main entrance of the home that once you reach the end of it you can climb a few steps and get a clear view of the home as sort of an aerial view with the city behind it taken together this magnificent home may best be appreciated from the surrounding outside since getting in is a chore and overpriced at €7 for a short and impersonal visit.

Spectacular ⭐️👌🫶 Better to buy tickets in advance via official web - 7€ guided excursion. The guide was telling interesting facts and stories about the building and the life of Gaudi. It worth visiting 🎊

May 2023 I found this place very interesting and definitely worth a visit. I had a guided tour with a private tour guide, and we learned a lot by being with her. Whether you think that Gaudi was gaudy, that perhaps is true. He definitely was unique. He spared no expense on what he built, and he thought of every detail imaginable.

Stunning! I'd seen pictures but they don't do it justice. There is so much to take in, you don't know where to look first. We followed the recommended route and listened to the commentary on the website. It was very informative. Thankfully it wasn't very busy so we were able to appreciate every aspect at our leisure.

Stunning example of Gaudi's work. Excellent audio guide (best if you take earphones) and relatively cheap (€5 for senior citizen). Thoroughly recommended.

Tip number one: go before 10AM. I went twice and both times it was lovely and semi quiet when went in and became really busy as we left around 10:30 - 11:00. I really enjoyed seeing the architecture and personally really enjoyed Gaudi's amazing eye for detail and nature. I love how timeless his work is. The staff speaks multiple languages and in every room is information why the room is built and designed the way it is. For 7 euros definitely worth a visit.

A pleasant visit. We bought tickets the same day and could choose times. We chose a couple of hours after arrival snd went for lunch but it was posdible to get earlier times. Seems to be a bit calmer after 14.00. We did not have to queue for long. About 10 minutes and staff were helpful and spoke English. Numbers are restricted so it doesn't get too crowded. Very interesting history. Audio guide is free.

Indeed stunning architecture ! Many people, high entry fee and all pictures inside the house are framed with ordinary glass and not with museum glass 🤔

  • 5/5 CJ 9 months ago on Google
I recommend buying tickets minimum 1 day IN ADVANCE, if you're on a schedule. There are guided (take 45 minutes) and self guided entrances (both cost 7eur) to the house decorated by Gauide, for the lawyer of Antonio Lopez. Andrea, our English speaking guide was awesome! Parking can be difficult as the attraction is on the city center, but almost all parkingspots are for free along the road. Note: Although the Sobrellano palace and temple (built by Gaudi's teacher for AntonioL.) are next door, they are separated by a fence. You can not pass easily between them, only by doing a whole 10-minute walking loop.

The building is well preserved, the information provided by the guide is helpful to understand some of the peculiar architectural details which, otherwise, would go lost in the bunch. Visually stimulating but not my cup of tea. But that's me, I think many people enjoy this richness in details so it's definitely recommended.

El Capricho de Gaudí, located in Comillas, Cantabria, Spain, is a unique modernist house designed by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudí. Built between 1883 and 1885, it features colorful and ornate facades with Oriental influences. The interior showcases intricate details and furniture designed by Gaudí. A popular destination for architecture enthusiasts, it offers a chance to explore and appreciate Gaudí's distinctive style.

I did not enter the compound but rather viewed the house from the road behind. If you want to view the house without paying or going for a guided tour, here is a tip: If you enter into the Sobrellano palace garden (it is free) you can walk past the palace and church, you will pass a gate that leads to a road behind the house where you can view the house and a plaque that describes the history of it. They have covered the gate and tried to disrupt the view alittle but you can still see the tower and some of the architecture.

A small castle that young Gaudí designed. Beautiful rooms, pleasant tour, feeling of magic

  • 4/5 Sarah P. 1 year ago on Google
Expensive for how much there is to see, but you literally can't get a view of the building at all unless you pay as they've put massive fences all around nearby. Worth seeing for the fact it is by Gaudi. Audio tours available in multiple languages and can be accessed using QR codes. Entrance to the site is staggered so after queueing for 20mins we were given a time slot for nearly two hours later.

Very beautiful place. About one hour visit to see it all. Impossible to park near, consider this if you go by car.

One of the earliest Gaudi works. It is worth going in and exploring. I took mobile audio guide in English and it was very good. Really enjoyed. NB: Not easy to reach. You should go around from the city. NB do not go from the palace.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who was extremely accommodating with our laden bicycles, she allowed us to secure them behind the reception. Good vibes. The house itself is beautiful, with lots to see and read. The conservatory was spectacular and was filled with lovely vegetation. A must see! Everything was well signed and all in all a well put together experience.

Lovely place to visit with genuine Gaudi's architecture. Surprisingly, never seen by Antoni Gaudi, and the owner did not enjoy it either. Beautiful garden and exquisite details inside with handmade furniture. I've been there three times so far.

Amazing building, beautifully maintained, and excellent interpretation and guide. Must see! Recommended to book in advance.

Really fascinating place - so unusual in so many ways! The attention to detail, nature orientation, wonderful materials and textures used make going into each room and around the house a great experience. It cost 7€ each to go in, but you are able to touch the furniture and decorations which is great. Fully recommend
