The times I have visited the Cathedral and this Chapel of the Holy Chalice, without having a review. The chapel itself has notable aspects that make it a place to visit, highlighting the alabaster altarpiece with the ten reliefs, the tombs and the organ. Now the jewel in the crown is the Holy Chalice, according to tradition tells us that it is the same Cup that the Lord used at the last supper. This relic is the carnelian agate stone cup or cup, among others, archeology attributes its eastern origin and dates it to the 1st century AD. It is a real honor to have this gem close to home.

(Translated by Google) A 15th-century chapel located in the Cathedral of Valencia. Highly requested to celebrate baptisms, in it is the Holy Chalice, donated by Alfonso the Magnanimous, which according to legend is the one used by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper. On the wall are two large pieces of the chains that closed the port of Marseille, brought by Alfonso V the Magnanimous.

(Translated by Google) Fact or legend? This is the central issue that arises in the beautiful Chapel of the Holy Chalice. Excavations carried out in 2004 discovered after many centuries hidden by a vault, a bowl of polished agate stone, dark red in color and dated from the 1st century AD, it rests on a foot with gold handles and precious stones that would have been added in the Age Average. For many, this is the Holy Grail where Jesus Christ drank at the Last Supper. The legend traces an intricate journey of the relic since Saint Peter transported it to Rome after the death of the Virgin Mary until in 1437 King Alfonso V - the Magnanimous, King of Aragon and the Aragonese Crowns, handed him over to the Cathedral of Valencia for guard . Fact or legend? You decide! On our visit to the Cathedral we went to see the Chapel of the Holy Chalice, which is accessed from inside the Cathedral, entering through the baroque door of the Plaza de la Reina, in the right corner. At the time of our visit, access was free. In this chapel the Holy Chalice is venerated, with which, it is believed, Jesus celebrated the Last Supper. Curiously, I would like to mention that some thick chains hang from the walls, spoils of war from when the Kingdom of Valencia conquered the city of Naples, or Marseille, I don't remember well. These chains closed the port and prevented ships from entering and leaving.

We didn't even know that such gems could be found here. I have never seen such a large chapel dedicated to one sacred place before. A Holy Grail whose authenticity seems not so certain.

The Holy Chalice is located in the chapel on the right, behind the altar, and although it cannot be seen very well, it is still a piece of incalculable value. The alabaster altarpiece was made by Giuliano Poggibonsi, a disciple of Lorenzo Ghiberti, and is of incomparable beauty. It is very worth visiting even if it is just to sit for a few minutes on one of the benches there, and enjoy that solemn silence.

Chapel of the Holy Chalice, adjacent to the Cathedral and only from which it can be visited. In Gothic style, mystical environment of meditation and prayer, in the presence of the Holy Grail kept here, which can be approached with respect and faith in history and documentation which considers it the chalice of the last supper, the one with which Jesus Christ defined the Eucharist. It is a cup now mounted on an important precious goblet holder, which is visible only from afar and behind protective glass. And the audio guide provided, very detailed for the Cathedral and the museum, dedicates only two generic sentences to the Holy Grail, leaving a hint of disappointment for the lack of details, even historical, on the reliability of the reconstruction that gives it such importance.
