Loved this store for years. I'm now an owner of a well behaved puppy and an REI staff member wasn't having it. I was shopping for dog vests... Maybe don't sell dog stuff if you aren't that kind of store.

After today's experience we will be canceling our REI credit card. I purchased Keen hiking sandals for their comfort and for general walking use.. After 3 to 4 times of wearing it they ripped in the back, the part that goes over the heel. This a common issue with these keen sandals if you read their reviews. My wife took in the sandals to return them and not only did they not believe us, they treated us as if we are lying to them about how much we used the sandals before they ripped. They were in perfect condition other than the rip on the back when we took them in. Full tred under the soles and no dirt or mud. Instead of doing an exchange for us for the same pair of sandals, they gave us store credit, which after we use, we will no longer be purchasing anything from REI again. We've literally spent thousands over the years from expensive hiking boots to high-end backpacking tent. Really sad to see a great company go downhill like this. I will be supporting small, local and independent stores from now on... REI has become a corporate nightmare. I will also be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau against them. Thank for your AWFUL customer service, JEFFREY!! What a shame.

What can I say about REI that you don’t already know? The staff is helpful and incredibly knowledgeable. The selection and quality of products is excellent. Whatever it is you’re interested in doing outdoors, this store is the perfect place to prepare yourself for a life of nature and adventure.

Amazing customer service!! My friend and I had questions about a used item working properly that we were hoping would work well enough for a short backpacking trip. Each staff member helping us was kind, knowledgable, and patient ( and we ending up getting wonderful help from like 5+ people lol). Thank you all for a great experience!

It’s a REI…most of the employees are super cool. I’ve been a member for years and had a coupon ($30 off) that was expired by 1 day, with $250 worth of stuff in my hands and manager Trevor said I was SOL…..he’s got the power to make it happen. I left with nothing, thanks for nothing and I’ll take my business to a different location 👍

It's a tiny but mighty REI next to Whole Paycheck. You could spend your whole life savings between here and the grocery store if you want, but I digress. I would highly suggest their lifetime membership bc it does offer better deals. I got a pair of keen Chelsea boots, a puffer jacket, and a rain jacket. It's a little pricy, but their store brand stuff is cheaper and the quality is good. The shoe section was ok. They hold the shoes hostage and you have to flag someone down to get your size. The employees were super swamped but nice and helpful. I would definitely check it out again when I need something else.

I came with a shopping list of basic gear for a kayaking voyage, and checked off only a couple of items. Out of stock, no size or color selection, just generally not available. Plenty of workers but I had to ask for someone who knew something about the kayak gear I wanted. 35 years ago REI catered to hardcore hiking, climbing, and bycling. Not much frill. Now car camping, children, dogs, and stylish clothing seem to be the emphasis. Okay, so demographics change and it's a good thing for a business to keep up. It's just not the gear-oriented co-op it used to be. After being told REI sells kayaks only online, I bought my$1200 inflatable kayak, which was available from REI, from an independent boat shop that had models in store. I paid California taxes and didn't get the REI membership discount, but I got to put my hands on the 'yak before I bought it. More and more frequently I can go into my local REI and come out with nothing. Times change, I guess.

I find that REI is more of a fashion house now, more than an outdoor equipment store. They still have a good selection of camping, bike and ski stuff, just not the selection they used to have. I also find that the house brands are marked up at regular price so they can show savings when on sale. I still find it a fun place to shop, just different.

Staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. I didn't know what I was looking for and the staff asked me a few questions and brought out some items that I would have liked. I ended up liking one of the items and bought it!

Did some shopping at the Tigard, OR REI store and I must say, the diverse staff seems well trained, helpful and knowledgeable without being "salesy". I am not often impressed by large/big box stores due to a lack of customer service but REI seems to have found the "secret sauce". 😉👍

Not as huge as the REI in Downtown Portland. The selection of chacos sandals is fairly limited and they don't do half sizes. Staff are friendly and eager to assist though it was crowded on a rainy Monday morning when I visited to pick up a pair of sandals. Wanted to have got a rain jacket but they didn't carry my size in the design I wanted unfortunately.

Like other REI locations it’s pretty good. I have only one complaint: don’t show a cool head strapped flashlight in the entryway. It was bright outside, I took off my sunglasses right after I entered, and an employee hurried over to shine the light in my eyes, and it hurt. Yeah, I actually have a sensitive eye condition. The employee didn’t care to listen and continued to hurt my eyes while I grabbed my sunglasses and hurried to put them back on. Otherwise, it’s an REI, there’s plenty of cool stuff to look at unless “the outside” is a scary place(?!).

Amazing customer service. Bought an amazing bike that I wasn't able to utilize as much as I wanted and they gave me a refund a little over 30 days after purchase. Thank you!!! Means a lot.

Man it’s a good day when you can make it to an REI. Not the biggest store in a while but are the employees ATTENTIVE. Like Trader Joe’s level of attentivity. See you again, soon, guys. Also, does anyone actually know how the co-op works? I sure don’t. Still a member, though.

Very helpful staff will point you to the right area and then let you have some space to look over items and compare, just about as good as it gets customer service wise.

I could spend a whole day in here! Not the cheapest place, but great options for many categories of outdoor necessities (and luxuries). I found some great Altra brand, zero drop, wide toe box shoes, which is what I was searching for. ♡ They didn't have Lems or Vivobarefoot, but they still had some in-store options (Altra and Topo). I had a very kind staff member help me think through the options, and a nice staff member at checkout as well. I'm sure I'll be back soon!

I shopped at REI regularly but I just had a very bad exchange. I didn't realize that their return policy has changed. I bought a satellite messenger for my husband four months ago and it has been sitting on his desk as he wasn't sure that he wanted this particular model. It is brand new. When I bought it I had asked the sales associate whether I can return it. They said yes it 100% satisfaction. On the bottom of the receipts, it stated 365 days with 100% satisfaction. I didn't rush my husband as I thought we had time for him to research and decide. Now, he said he would prefer the IN Reach and I said okay I will take this back. Well, now they are saying there is a 90 days electronic return policy which is not printed on the actual receipts itself. You have to go online to see it. I reached out to the rep and they said the receipt could have been printed on an older paper but that the policy online was the same as in store. What? Really? So, be careful as they aren't clear on their refund policy and it's definitely not 100% satisfaction claim! They need to remove this statement from their platform. They do NOT stand behind everything they sell.

Exceptional service as usual. Like all REI’s, they are usually well stocked. Despite some items not available in store, they can usually be ordered online and picked up in less than a week

Great in-store shopping experience. They take covid seriously and have implemented excellent precautions: limiting capacity, having greeters to ensure all who enter are wearing masks properly, unidirectional routes through high traffic areas, no self-serve footwear, and protocols for fitting rooms. Hand sanitizer dispensers are everywhere and employees were actively cleaning high touch areas during our visit. Good garage sale section. Only thing that was slightly disappointing considering the season we visited was the very small selection of snow sports gear.

Any amazing resource for anyone looking to spend time in the outdoors. Hiking, camping, kayaking etc. Outdoor clothing, camping supplies, and a healthy supply of bicycles and even e-bikes. Big thumbs up.

I have made several trips there and they are always out of some products They used to be a decent outdoor store, but have slipped considerably. Maybe Covid related, but I can find what I'm looking for on Amazon without a problem and at a better price.

This is my all time favorite store to purchase casual/athletic clothing as well as camping & hiking gear. Their products are more sustainable that most other large comoanies', which is important to me. I LOVE the Tualatin location and can always find what I'm looking for, plus, REI's return policy is amazing. The person at checkout today, Olivia, was rude and not very welcoming, but most of the time staff are friendly and helpful.

Great customer service today by Serge in footwear. Very upbeat personality with footwear knowledge and experience. Looking forward to testing my new trail runners based on his recommendation.

really grateful for the helpful sales lady, she has long grey hair in a pony tail. I’m disappointed I didn’t catch her name, she helped my grandma find more supportive shoes. she recommended a pair her mother in law found suiting. I am so grateful she helped my grandmother, really appreciate the patience and care taken with her.
