Such a shame to loose big brand shops such as Wilko but the Newgate Centre is just a multi story car park and a walk through into the town centre. Sad to see the little business close too Master Mochi cobblers key cutting shop that's seems to have always been there with the opening of the centre. Lots of changes and building works to accommodate the job centre and access doors to Fore Bondgate so it's not the mixed shopping centre it used to be. Even the pigeons where coming in out of the cold and wet weather to feed on crumbs from Gregg's purchases dropped at the entrance exit. I hope a new tenant can be found or mixed use purpose for the empty Wilko store

Newgate Shopping high street where you can park your car £0.60 for 2 hours. £2.10 for all day. too many parking spaces. there are greegs in Shopping center, soon to come out left hand side EE Network, and right hand side a mobile shop Phone Tech for all phone accessories and repair. you can visit shoe zone in front,O2 or Boys shop in high street. very friendly staff. there is a lift in parking area. This town is have lost too any big names bid brands but the Council is very active to bring back businesses .

Disappointing to say the least. Limited shops with the best being a Wilko. area run down by out of area shopping.

Like the rest of Bishop Auckland Town centre the place is in its death throws. Sad to see the town centre die. But everything is moving to the out of town retail parks with free parking. Whilst the council are still charging to use the town centre car parks

I cannot begin to tell you how dismal Bishop Auckland is. I wouldn't go there unless I really had to.

A favourite of mine but has declined over the last few years and many shops have gone but still enough to keep me interested in going, inspiral cycles , boys, peacocks, NatWest bank, herons food, Caffe, bar's and restaurants.

Upsetting that work was put into fixing it up yet none into relocating more shops into it. The bus station outside is being done up soon so hopefully that helps out. There's a cex and a pharmacy inside aswell as free toilets and parking upstairs a few charity shops selling furniture and a Greg's. Just outside you'll find a key cutters and the ee store and on the other side the bus station

Starting to get very quiet inside the centre as more businesses leave. Hopefully some investment is on its way as it would be a shame to loose such a central place

Sad to say this little shopping centre really needs some help. Since Wilkinson left it feels empty and needs an uplift. Hopefully other shops come here soon

Nothing there unfortunately as the town has died . Will take some reviving. Retail park should have been built in the town 😪

The town centre at Bishop Auckland is dire, very limited selection of shops as most have moved their footfall to the newer more accessible area of Tindale Crescent Retail Park. There is a Boyes, Wilkinson, oh one pub, but other than that the area is mainly charity shops or mobile telephone shops.

The place is a little run down with a few closed shops however there is enough in there to at least get something to eat and pick up something quick for the house, there is heaps of paid parking 2 floors worth with an elevator to each floor, with a bit of investment and few new shops opened up in here I think it could be great.

Been significantly reduced since the Ruffer put offices in. Only Chemist, Cex, Bag Shop, Wilko, Forces Support and Greggs in. Still has buy and sell trader in

Excellent choice of balaclava in market. Had a Bavarian slice in Greggs which was quite frankly phenomenal

So many different shops to choose from, would reccomend coming here for fruit or fresh meat/fish as it is all cheap as chips

Not a very nice place to be honest compared to similar sized shopping centres. Most things are closed, a bit dirty and no staff around to stop kids cycling through ( nearly knocked my kids over). Give it a miss! The parking is reasonable however! Hence 2 stars
