Chester Le Street Market place

Shopping center Market

😠 Durham Council have gradually eroded the life out of Chester le Street in general. No atmosphere now and I doubt it will ever return. Local business need the town to be attractive to shoppers. 5* FAIL People often mention market, shops,

Used to be the best market for miles around but has gone downhill over the past 10 years, still well worth a visit on a Saturday morning as there is a good selection of traders. There is a food truck that does good grub and there is a video games stall where a good bargain can be had, a great place to have a wander around on a sunny Saturday morning. Grab a coffee and sit and people watch as there are some funny people get down there

Plenty of car parks, very cheap. Always a pleasant atmosphere. Good weather attracts allot of customers. The town and a wonderful park is a short walk away. I take my 2 year old girl every week.

The market was not on today. In recent years this market has gone down hill drastically. The stalls seem to sell tatt eg chipped cups with no handles or half tins of paint. The council are in the process of making over and moving the market but until they do something re the quality of goods sold it will be no better and could end up closing permanently

Used to have a cracking flee market, attracting Thousands of people on a Saturday, that would then adventure up the high street spending money, how ever Durham county council reduced the size of the market to a fraction of the size, and did away with free parking, so the market just fizzled out, so what have we got up the high street now, yes you guessed it, betting shops, charity shops, coffee shops, Albanian barbours, I,m now struggling,

Absolute disgrace. Should be best market around but its rubbish. Terrible council decisions and pay and display parking killing Chester-le-Street.

Such a diversity of shops in a 400m straight road, and a few cafe's to settle the taste buds.

Market used to be superb . Its now non existant. Shame on whoever made these changes you need to be sacked. I go to South Shields on a Saturday now so all the shops in Chester le Street have lost my custom

Run down and no where near what used to be like. Needs some serious investment and locals need to use it more if they can.
