Choosing a restaurant in Split is hard, as the majority of the restaurants offer about the same menu and nothing is really unique. Corto Maltese really catched my attention because of the intriguing dishes, and the really funny names of the dishes! It was really busy when we got here and there was a small queue and had to wait for 5 minutes. Inside, there are so many gorgeous details! After ordering drinks and our food, we had to wait 10-15 minutes for the drinks and they arrived about 30 seconds before our food. Clearly they were having trouble serving the drinks and this was a bit too long. The waiter however apologized and having our first bite it was all forgotten! Absolutely delicious food and the flavours are phenomenal! Highly recommended.

My slight let down was I had to sit for a little too long with no menu, but once my waitress started her shift, smooth sailing from there. Her recommendations were spot on.

The seafood linguine "ballad of the salted sea" is to die for, getting that much flavour into a pasta dish which also visually looks quite simple is no easy feat. It's one of those dishes that just makes you realise that you are actually on holiday. The service is friendly and chilled and the waiters explain the components of the dishes as they serve them which is a lovely touch. All the other dishes tasted just as great and the prices are great for how great these dishes tasted. Highly recommended this place if you're looking for a lively place to eat in Split.
