Very mediocre restaurant. I deducted one star for okay service and ambiance and one star for okay food. I can’t say the food is bad but it’s definitely under my expectations considering it’s a Michelin. The service is okay. When I asked my server for recommendations, he said everything is good and the left. The ambiance is not as good as the restaurant in the old town. It’s in a small alley and there’s is a residential vegetable garden (it’s pretty ugly) next to it. The food is way too salty that I can’t taste anything else. The server did explain that the sea food is coming from the sea so it tastes salty. I mean it’s not my first time eating sea food and its definitely not as good as I expected.

We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The entire approach to Sug is to make you comfortable, know what you're getting, and appreciate the culture and efforts of the people who made it all possible. Our service staff explained all of our food and wine pairings to an immaculate (and concise) detail. We had the tasting menu, which was an exercise in excitement and joy control. Each dish was masterfully crafted with a precise wine pairing that was local and intimately matched to its meal. The white glove service made us feel catered to and appreciated and while we spent over 2 hours, the pacing was making us feel as though time was flying. We enjoyed all of our food, but the venison dish with gnocchi really stood out and the chocolate truffle also made us melt. We left feeling relaxed and happy with so many lovely memories of Croatia to take with us. The price is understandably high, but we felt like we more than got our money's worth and would come back if we are ever here again. We were on our honeymoon and this really made it special.

Hello guys! This girl is very busy traveling, but not to worry, I discovered many lovely places. I think you will like it too! Here is a quick review in Split, Croatia. Lately I am enjoying simple grilled vegetables. This were so good and perfectly cooked. I truly don’t like when veggies are not cooked all the way through, but still have that crunchiness! Next dish was an amazing smoked fish, carpaccio style with risotto on the bottom. So delicious, Light and refreshing. Meat dish or roast veal was so tender and flavorful. Special potatoes with greens were so delicious and it complimented this meat perfectly. It was a quick lunch and definitely recommend! Cozy terrace in the back with fresh air was just what I needed! Thank you Croatia! Cheers!😍🙏🤗

Nice restaurant. Entrees were the standout - we had the Venison Stew and Smoked risotto. Mains - Tuna and Octopus were good but on the salty side. Service was ok, one missed drinks order and the food was a bit slow to come out, particularly as they wanted us out at a certain time.

Impressed with everything! From the decor to the food to the server, everything was beautifully presented. Our meals were as delicious as they looked. If I lived here this would be my favorite place to go with friends.

Super nice dinner we had! Very friendly and polite service, from the reservation booking until we left the restaurant back home. We sat in the garden terrace, another nice detail to mention Food was nice and prices at “Split tourist level”, good value for money!

Truely incredible food and charming and professional staff. Everything they do is the best of the best. It’s not too far from the Riva promenade, in a very comfortable and chic space providing both indoor and outdoor dining. Menu with variety of choices and a great wine list too. For me, it’s the best meal I’ve had in Croatia over the 40+ years I’ve been coming here. I will be return on every visit. I highly recommend Šug, you won’t be disappointed.

Great restaurant, professional service with indoor and outdoor (smoking) seating. The cooked dishes were all done over open fire and perfectly cooked. Minimalist dishes with the produce being the star of the show. A little on the pricier side and a few menu items which were listed online but not available when we went were the only downsides.

This small restaurant got 4.7 rating in Google, so we decided to visit. When the food arrived, there was no doubt in my mind why they got highly rated. Food looks good and screaming out how much passion had put into every dish. The waiter also ver nice, helpful & professional. He recommended us a bottle oh house brand white cost us around €40, which all of us agreed that was better than €80 the bottle we had a night before. We all vote that this will be the restaurant we want to go back again.

Had one of the best meals of my life there! They offered a 6 course chef's selection and each course paired with a Croatian wine. They offered a land or sea variant and I went with land. Others at my table got the sea and we all agreed both were fantastic! The service was top notch a nd our waiter knew every detail of each dish, as well as the wine. A truly great experience and I'll definitely return. Highly recommend!

We came here 2 years ago and again yesterday. The food was and is fantastic. We started with the prawn pate and tuna starter which was very fresh. We then each had the venison stew with macaroni and sheep’s cheese cream. It was excellent - a real treat. The service was friendly and professional.

Lovely restaurant with quality cooking. Great value given the quality of the ingredients. The waiter was efficient and knowledgeable. Only gripe was that after our starter's I tried order a bottle of wine and the waiter mentioned that they required the table at 9.30pm, we booked the table for 8pm. It was meant to be an anniversary celebration, but sadly turned into an exercise in fast food.

Lovely ambience but is a little pricey. Dinner for 2 costs slightly less than HRK700. Seafood is definitely fresh, love the mixed seafood appetiser and tomato soup. Slightly disappointed with the lobster dish as the pasta was not al dente but overall still a pleasant dinner.

Whatever you decide to do in Croatia, make it a priority to visit Šug and order their tomato soup with a side of homemade bread. Fresh and flavourful beyond imagination.

Exceptional! Starting with the service, the recommendations and explanations of every dish. All dishes and drinks have a cultural and interesting background. Every single dish was exceptional and delicious. Including the coffee at the end of the dinner. The best restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life.

This restaurant was expensive but my group stuck to the starters and first plates that were good sizes and not very expensive. We had a great meal and thought that the value was wonderful for such a nice place. The plating was beautiful and the risotto and duck were our favorites so far. Bonus: the cocktail menu mostly consists of unique gin and tonics that are fun to try.

This was easily one of the best dinners we had in Croatia (and we have had a lot of good dinners!). The service was friendly and let you take your time with food and drinks without a rush. The homemade bread was delicious and a great accompaniment to the cheese plate and venison stew. The cheese plate had marmalades to accompany the cheeses which elevated the flavors in the best way. We loved the grilled octopus—it was moist while having a crunchy outside as well. The venison stew was probably our favorite—the flavors were balanced and the homemade gnocchi was the perfect pairing. It was a very filling plate however! For dessert, we enjoyed the hazelnut mousse cake, it wasn’t too sweet which I really liked and it had a crunchy cookie bottom. The only thing that was annoying was the outside lights were flickering and going in and out the whole time, the staff didn’t do anything about it so it makes me think it’s something that happens with the electrical current. Overall though that didn’t take away from the amazing food and service. This place had a good mix of locals and tourists, and has been Michelin rated (no Michelin star yet!).

This restaurant is amazing! The food was unreal (Chef won Croatian dish of the year in 2018) and the service was also impeccable. Very reasonably priced given its location (just outside the old town) and you can sit inside or out. Our waiter gave a brief description / story of the food / drinks we had chosen for each course, which was informative and interesting.

  • 4/5 Steffonn C. 10 months ago on Google
Excellently prepared and tasty. But for being recognized as one of the best restaurants in town, with the Michelin recognition, I had higher expectations for a bit greater flair or just something special that stands out. The black Risotto for instance, while good and authentic, I tasted undistinguishable difference to other less regarded restaurants. The funnest dish had was the appetizer which spruced up something resembling canned tuna, but with surprising zest and crisp summer flavour. Our server was extremely attentive and made for a much more enjoyable experience. While beautiful seating next to the garden with views of a turtle and occasional lizard, be prepared for loads of hungry mosquitos.

Nice restaurant. Good food with hearty portions. We had grilled tuna and veal sweetbreads. Tuna was perfectly grilled. Sweetbreads was decent though in my opinion they could have chosen a better recipe to serve it; here they wrap it in bacon so you end up tasting the bacon more than the sweetbread. This way they fail to draw the umami from the sweetbread. They could have also chosen better sides to pair with the dish. Today it was mashed potato with tomato sauce. Still, we were satisfied. Chill atmosphere with good staff. Good selection of wine and local craft beers.

Amazing food, great service and nice atmosphere. Can’t recommend enough! After being in Dubrovnik and Hvar where food is overpriced and doesn’t match quality, it’s refreshing to come to such a place. All the dishes are amazing so you can’t go wrong in this place! Also, the bread is great for bread lovers!

If I could give it 6 ⭐ I would! One of the BEST restaurants I've ever been to. Just amazing. We had the soup of the day, tuna steak, and meat gnocchi, and all were amazing. We also enjoyed their house wines, and liquors. Service was excellent.

Had it for dinner. Lovely place with warm fairy lights that makes you go :))) . Food is lovey, and we had a fabulous tomato soup and yummy risotto. The sequence of serving the wine/ bread was towards the end of the meal which can be earlier to make it better. Food is great.

The tasting menu was one of my greatest culinary experiences ever. The attention to detail by our waiter was bar none and the food was awesome. The sug gin drink was one of the best cocktails I had during my entire stay in Croatia.

Pretty quaint little restaurant on the Michelin Guide. Overall the food was quite good including the sampler cold plate along with the Lobster we ordered and forgot to take a picture of. Service was a tiny bit slow - guessing offseason. Would easily go back.

Marende daily deals are ridiculously good value for money. Probably the best place in Split for traditional dalmatian cuisine. Good delivery option also.

Me and my friends booked a table at this restaurant. I was here before and the food was fabulous and I decided to come one more time. We ordered beefsteak tatar and prawns pate as starters. Beefsteak tatar is our regular starter but this was the best one we ever tried. Prawns pate with sour onion was just breathtaking. After that we had beefsteak, ribeye steak and venison stew. Both steaks were aged and together with goat cheese, they were perfect. Also you can feel that the steaks were prepared on fire. During the dinner we drank Dingač Vicelić. That wine was recommended buy waiter who also explained perfectly our food. Both of the waiters who served us were very professional and attentive. Definitely we are coming back!

Best grilled tuna in town, the grilled vegetables were superb too. The fish soup was actually made with shrimp and was of course amazing. Beautiful back garden terrace and obviously very popular as it filled up completely for lunch.

Went on a Saturday evening in September. We got the Tecada for two which was amazing, one of the best meals of our trip. The service was a bit pretentious and cold, but the food was amazing, the gin cocktails were delicious, and the dessert which we don’t know the name but was a creamy custard style dessert were all amazing.

Delicious restaurant. Totally worth it. I absolutely recommend it. Food was so tasty, well served, great ambiance, good service. We were 4 and we decided to share some plates : duck, smoked salmon, tomato soup, caprese (burrata with tomate sauce and basil) and chesse plancha. We payed 20 euros each including beers and wine It is located close to the "old Town" and it's easy to get by walking

Sug was amazing! We did the tasting menu and I’d highly recommend. Every dish was amazing I think my favorite was the octopus. The portions are large for a tasting menu so be sure to come hungry. The wait staff was super friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely love everything from the decoration to the food. We ate till the last drop. I would recommend anything that has the signature sauce in it. The wine is also excellent.

Amazing service and delicious food. Food was served quickly and was fresh and warm. They had vegetarian and vegan options. The toilets were super clean and there were even free feminine products in the woman’s room.

I love everything. Unfortunately got only three photos as we already ate most of them. But if you are around Split , I highly recommend to have lunch or dinner here. Service was good, waiter attentive and they speak english, so no worries about not speaking croatian. The restaurant is just outside the old town, you can reach it on foot.

Delicious mixed seafood appetizer. Tasty tomato soup with cream cheese. Home made bread to clean up the plates... The lobster pasta: full lobster in, home made pasta that I would have kept more al dente, but not bad at all in the end. U pay for what u get. Nice resto inside with a patio. Good wine by the glass

The portions were very generous. The staff were attentive at this Michelin recommended restaurant. The octopus Is very good. I would recommend trying many appetizers with a large group. Credit card is accepted here. There are steps down to the restaurant.

We arrived without any expectation on our first night in Split, only by recommendation of our house guest. The place was packed, we didn't have a reservation, but they allowed walk-ins. I had the tomato soup, and the duck, my bf had a prawn tartar and beef. Everything was amazing! couldn't have asked for a better first meal to start our holidays. The portions were big, and all the flavors good and fresh. You have to go! We didn't get to taste the breakfasts, but I've read reviews that they are worth it.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. The octopus sauce was a little too Salty but bar that one of the best meals my partner and I have ever had. Absolutely loved the smoked seafood risotto.
