What a stunning place to visit in Split. The park is beautiful to hike across from the old town of Split to the top. We hiked down to the beach and boy it was stunning! There’s a lot of greenery and the view of the town from the top is absolutely amazing. If you have more than 2 days in Split, please consider putting this spot to your bucket list.

This is one of the best parks in my life! I was lucky enough to live right next to it and walk in it almost every day, take cycling and jogging and do sports. The park is veeery large and will suit both lovers of quiet rest and fans of extreme sports — here you will find many options for leisure. On weekends, a lot of locals come here. Split residents go for walks with families, have picnics and enjoy the views.

Really enjoyed the walk here - serene, wooded with trails and steps. There is a small zoo of domesticated animals and a botanical garden. A healthy workout! And beautiful views from the top.

Absolutely stunningly beautiful views abound. It is just such a wonderful place to spend some time walking around and resting taking in the various views around the park. There are so many vistas to experience. If we return to Split, this will be our number one thing to see again.

Nice hillside above Split with beautiful viewing points down towards the bay and harbor. Partly rather unkempt and rotten but overall still good. If you're going up at around noon take quite some water and try staying in the shade (some trees that provide shade at noon).

Sitting on the peninsula adjacent to Split, Park Sûma Marjan is the perfect place to escape the crowds in central Split. The park has something to offer everyone - hiking and biking trails, 360 degree hilltop vistas, historical monuments and churces carved into the cliffside, and local beaches to find some respite from the heat. You can walk there from Split via the Marjan Hill Stairs, take the local bus that runs around the peninsula or access by car via several entry points if you want to avoid some of the hills. For hikers and bikers the best time to go is in the morning to avoid the heat. The park is forested so many of the trails are shaded. The trails range from rugged rocky paths to paved roads so its suitable for all ages and abilities. Its not particularly well signposted but its impossible to get lost as you're surrounded by the sea. The highest point is the Marjan Hill viewpoint at 178m above sea level.

Great hike up to the high point over Split. Stunning views on all directions from the top. From here is is easy to hike down to one of the bathing spots. The No 12 bus goes around the peninsula, so it's easy to get back to town if you end up in the water too long!

Very nice park within walking distance from the centre of Split. The park is largely car free and that makes the park very pleasant. You have beautiful views and you can also go to the beach.

Absolutely mandatory to visit and stroll around the park if staying in Split. Gorgeous views and a very relaxing atmosphere. If you start from Marjan Hill Stairs and make your way around the park you'll end up near some amazing beaches to relax on after the hike!

The park/forest is really beautiful. And being by the shore, it provides amazing scenery. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars, is because I didn't see any security. So it could be my skepticism, or just me not being use to having such a safe place. So it is a nice walking, tourism spot and I would go back for sure.

15 minutes walk from Split centre to the bottom allow two or three hours to walk to the top and back, good views of Split and the islands

  • 5/5 Stipo 1 year ago on Google
A great place to visit and to see Split and the islands from a different angle. You can spend a couple hours here walking around and enjoying the views.

  • 5/5 notcalledkeith 1 year ago on Google
A very intense walk up all the steps in 30°C+ but when finally at the top the views are really good, definitely take some water with you and watch out for the wildlife, to conclude the walk to the top is definitely worth it 😁

Absolutely loved this park. Beautiful walkway for walker, bikers...I even skated on the path and it was nice. Lots of shade and water areas. Plus, a few beaches you can diverge to. If you walk around the entire park, I'd recommend good sneakers and water!

You will see thee beautiful town from the above once you get here. To get the first spot, it takes only 10 minutes or so from the Split. But there's a hiking trail and you can go higher if you like. On that day, I was kinda sick, so we couldn't make it though. Check the sunset from here.

  • 5/5 Juan C. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing views of Split. The hike is not hard. Good spot to go in the afternoon to see the sunset.

  • 4/5 Hazique G. 2 years ago on Google
Stunning views of the sea and a lovely evening hike. Highly recommend watching the sunset and looking over Split. It can get very windy so carry a windproof jacket and some good shoes.

Marvelous park / forrest with multiple panorama point, beaches, biking trail, hiking trails, rock climbing trails and many more. A must go in Split for those who love nature.

  • 5/5 Elena Larkina (. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing park. Great for jogging or cycling. A lot of beaches and it’s nice. And also you can find springs with drinking water, but there are not so many of them. Park have a great view points.

  • 5/5 John F. 9 months ago on Google
When the center of Split becomes too crowded escape and take a walk around Marjan which has amazing views of Split and beyond when you reach the top. There are plenty of different trails taking you to different places through the park so there are enough opportunities for peace and solitude.

Absolut empfehlenswert. P. S. Feste Schuhe mitbringen 😉

  • 5/5 Larisa M. 6 months ago on Google
Beautiful, very relaxing place with gorgeous views of Adriatic sea. Excellent for a hike, walk or bike ride. Air from the pine trees is absolutely pure. It felt so great to go for a swim after hiking.

  • 5/5 Jonna L. 7 months ago on Google
A must see place. The view from the top was amazing. Recommend bringing A LOT of water with you, specially if you plan on visiting during the peak heat hours of the day.

  • 5/5 Josip 7 months ago on Google
A nice place for a sport walk in the fresh air. Tourists usually climb to the first viewpoint from where you can see the panorama of Split and the Port of Split. If you are a recreational person or like to take a walk in nature, we highly recommend it. At many points, you can also get free clean water from the tap for drinks.

  • 5/5 Andrew M. 7 months ago on Google
Great views and some welcome shade we only saw a small part of this vast park because of time but definitely worth the climb

  • 5/5 Matthew E. 7 months ago on Google
A great little walk with some fantastic views of the area, very well signposted and easy to navigate, plenty of stops to fill up waterbottles which was very much needed on such a hot day, well worth a visit and wonder and explore!

  • 5/5 Nadia B. 7 months ago on Google
Fantastic park worth visiting whilst in split. Lots of lovely spots to go swimming. I would highly recommend hiring a bike and cycling around. The views are so incredible.

Hidden gem in the city of Split. If you want to scape the busy streets filled with tourist, this is the place to be. Beautiful nature. The smell of the pine trees and the beautiful beaches will feel Your heart with joy and peace.

First and foremost this is a huge park, easily larger than the whole of old town, with plenty of room to spare. There are several very large footpaths that lead mostly around the Marjan Hill after which the park is named. Several beaches can be accessed from the park, best ones being located on the southern side. There are also some ancient churches along the footpaths as well as great vistas, a museum and a small zoo. Recommended.

  • 5/5 Colette K. 1 year ago on Google
Such a family friendly place. Beautiful views of the sea and boats. Safe swimming too.

  • 5/5 Chris M. 10 months ago on Google
A verdant and welcome excursion from old town. The 8km loop trail is scenic and peaceful but the real beauty lies inside. The interior trails offer shade and viewing points which make them worth the effort.

It is quite a climb especially in the heat. We went as far as the first summit which included 340 steps at that point!!. The wildlife and plants are amazing and of course the views. Only disappointment was the restaurant cafe on the way back where tables were reserved or taken so the my thirst could not be quenched, shame after all the walking and heat.

  • 5/5 J-P H. 8 months ago on Google
This park is stunning, from the climb at the beginning to view from the very top its is beautiful. It can be quite a tough climb at times (really depending on your level of fitness) but it is genuinely worth it. I would have loved to have walked the entire length but we had a lot to pack into the few days we had. Maybe next time...

One of the most beautiful places I have been during my stay in Croatia, there are so many beaches that can suit every kind of person. Busy ones, quiet ones, ones that are easy to find, and others that might need a little more exploration. I can honestly recommend Marjan park to anyone and everyone who decides to go to split or the surrounding area.

  • 5/5 Vadsana K. 1 year ago on Google
We walk by the sea coast and enter mini street to see around. The way is steep and we find the park sign. We keep on walking and find this fantastic view. The signature orange roof, nice tree, and blue Adriatic sea. Very good.😀😀

Took our bikes for a little bit of fresh air outside of crowded Split. When entering the park it was like you were not even near a city. Amazing outlooks over the landscape and also some nice small buildings. 100% recommended to go there when visiting the Split area, renting a bike made it a lot easier.

a huge park where you can see churches, many viewing platforms and other sights that I have not visited;) the terrain is quite difficult in places, you should have suitable shoes. We parked our car near the beach, in August it can be a tricky part. The views of the sea and Split are beautiful, so I advise you to visit.

An incredible beautiful nature. Close to the City centre but far enough to feel like youre in the wilderness. Around the forest you have an wonderful coastline. On the Western side you have (in my opinion) the most amazing beach in Split - Kasjuni Beach. You can go there by car, by bus nr 12 or by walk but it's around 40min from the Old Town. It's fu*king worth it though! The only minus in the high season - they charge you a lot for a sunbed or a deck chair... It's way better go there during a working day and early in the morning. They also have a lot of space for free and Mega plus are 2 bars/bistros both an amazing music. At night the places change in to great open air beach Parties. Totally worth it l.

Well worth the hike up the steps and hill for the amazing panoramic views of Split and out over the adriatic sea. The walk isn't to bad and there are plenty of seats and places to stop fir a breather on the way up. Will take around 30-40 minutes.

Marjan is a beautiful forest park that spans the entire western peninsula of Split. There is a paved town around the entire way and it is very attractive for bikes. Along the way, there are many nice beaches and places to stop for pictures. Definitely a must if you are in Split for more than just partying.
