Superb stay in this charming and comfortable hotel, with every service you need to relax and enjoy your holidays in Spalato, so close to the Diocletian’s palace and the ferries. We loved the staff, exceptionally friendly and kind, professional, and source of really good advices about where to go, places to visit, accommodations in other parts of Croatia and so on… Top experience!

Ok, so if I could give an 11, I would. This was the best overall experience my wife and I have had at a hotel. For reference, we’ve stayed at a few Ritz Carlton’s and a Waldorf Astoria (los pedregales) and this little boutique hotel still won us over. From the initial greeting and Ivan carrying our bags all the way, refusing to let me help, to Edita taking care of reservations and even bringing us coffee when the coffee shop was closed, we felt so cared for and appreciated. The room (#4) was adorable, clean, and just beautiful. The breakfast was wonderful, way more food than we would normally order, and we would often skip lunch because we were still full. I mean, a 3 course meal, with a charcuterie board and dessert for breakfast? Plus coffee? And water, and fresh juice, and bread? So good, and anytime we go to Split, that’s where we’re staying!! Thank you Hotel Cardo!

Hotel Cardo is an EXCEPTIONAL hotel located within the Palace Walls of Split. The hotel staff (Ivan, Edita, Josip) that we interacted with were professional, very friendly, and so helpful - from our arrival to departure. The hotel is beautifully decorated - reception area and rooms. The room views of the old city provide you with an experience one does not encounter with large hotels. The breakfast was delicious, and Karla, our hostess, was a ray of sunshine. Breakfast included your choice of coffee or tea, fresh squeezed orange juice, meat, cheese, fruit platter with bread, your choice of omelette, and a dessert. My cousin and I spent four nights, but wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel's location is fantastic!! If visiting Split, you must stay at the Cardo Hotel!!

I would not recommend staying at Heritage Hotel Cardo. I booked my reservation a month prior to arrival with the plan to stay in the walls of the city. We did not have phone service when we got to Croatia. We used WhatsApp to communicate. We had a driver who called on our way to check into the hotel to find out where he should drop our bags since the hotel is in a no driving zone. He was informed (all in Croatian)by Ivan, in reception, that our reservations were canceled for the hotel, and we were being placed at another hotel. My driver told him that the guests would not be happy about that. Ivan then requested to speak to me and informed me of this. I requested to be placed at the hotel that I booked. He stated it was not possible because they were overbooked. He noted that they were placing us at a hotel of “same standard” as I had booked. Fermai is the hotel they placed us at, which is NOT the same type as what I booked. It is not in the city walls, it is a 7 minute walk away. While people might not think that to be a big deal, when you are tired late at night, it is nice to just be able to walk into your hotel from the center Square. Also, the decor at Heritage Hotel Cordo has a much more renaissance feel. The decor at hotel Fermai is much more modern, which is exactly what I did not want. The hotel room that we were placed at was also cheaper than what I booked. When I continued to request the room I booked Ivan then lied and said that my reservation was the “last reservation that came in” Mind you, I booked one month ahead. When I told him that, he lied again and said that the computer system “was not working that day(a month ago) and that is why they did not realize they overbooked.” He then said he called my agency that I worked with and notified them of the change earlier that day, as if that automatically makes everything fine.(again i have no cell service in Croatia to receive calls) He knew I was unhappy with the situation, so he asked in an insulting manner “would you like the most expensive room in hotel Fermai” since he must have thought that would assuage me. I responded that “I would not, I would like the room that I booked @ Heriatage Hotel Cordo.” He then said that was not possible again, and HUNG UP the phone on me. Ivan is a rude, unprofessional liar. I would not recommend spending your money at a hotel that has employees who treat guests in such a manner. I attached picture of the room we were sent to, and the view from that room. what a disappointment for a €450/night place

We had a fantastic one-night stay in this small hotel. Location: you could not get more central to the main square than this hotel. It is meters away with a view from our room down the street leading to the cathedral square and main place to buy tickets. Despite the street and the potential for noise, it was dead quiet in the hotel. I think it is a pretty new renovation, and the sound proofing is superb. The room itself was equally good. It had an amazing shower with four different water sources. It was also a treat to have Netflix, which is not a given. Bed was comfortable and plenty of room for bags. Breakfast was around the corner (two minutes) and was also excellent, if not too much food: a three course breakfast menu? All very tasty. My biggest praise however goes to the front desk. The woman who greeted us was very friendly and helpful, and crucially she and the hotel were kind enough to let us leave our luggage there after check out as our flight was not going until late in the afternoon. Not only that, but they also allowed my son to come leave his backpack there even though he hadn’t even stayed there! Finally, we came back from a hot day at Trogir and rather than just helping us get our bags the receptionist saw that we were hot from the day and immediately offered us (remember, we were no longer guests as we had checked out) a cold bottle of water and invited us to stay in the cool reception for as long as we liked. Really exceptional, and to me reflects the value at a staying at a small (five rooms, I believe) hotel.

We absolutely fell in love with The Hotel Cardo!! Unique, stately, luxurious and spacious, the accommodations went above and beyond our expectations. Located within the walls of Diocletian’s Palace, the rooms maintained their historic character while the bathrooms boasted brand new fixtures that were much appreciated. The linens and bed were also superb. One of the rooms even had two bedrooms to fit our three sons. The service by Josep was one of our favorite memories. He went out of his way to make sure we were content and even surprised us with a giant chocolate bar before we embarked on our 3 hour drive to Plivitce. Lastly, the breakfasts started our day with a gourmet feast. We particularly loved the hazelnut croissants with cinnamon cream. Thank you!!

Fantastic experience. Great location and incredible facility. One of the best experiences we have had throughout Europe. Very historic but with modern touches and bathrooms are brand new. Our family of five stayed two nights. Josip was an incredible concierge and resource for us.

I cannot say enough about how much I loved my stay at this hotel. It is perfectly located to walk to all the “must-sees” in Split. Its just stunning with a combination of historic and modern. It feels like you are in the middle of a castle. My room was large, gorgeous and so well appointed. The bathroom was large and had the best beautiful shower. We were extremely comfortable. The staff was absolutely amazing and helpful with area information, making reservations and recommendations. It is a small boutique hotel that makes the experience very personal. This is the best hotel experience I have ever had.

We had a wonderful experience at the Hotel Cardo in Split. Every staff member we encountered, from the valet to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! The beautiful hotel is right in the Heart of the old town and near the harbour. All the nice restaurants and bars are directly around the corner. Thank you very much! We definitely will recommend it to our friends and family!

Could not ask for a better location, service or accommodation. Edita, Ivan, Leo and both Josephs treated us with wonderful hospitality. Edita and Ivan went above and beyond to ensure our time in Split was perfect. This boutique hotel has only 5 rooms, which allows for the staff to provide such exceptional service. From dinner reservations to car rentals and everything in between, they made our stay so special and memorable. The location is perfect! Breakfast is wonderful and there are many options from which to choose. Our room was lovely and had a very comfortable bed. Highly recommend this hotel and we hope to be back soon. Thank you again to Edita and Ivan for making us feel so welcome!

3 weeks ago my husband and I stayed at Heritage Hotel Cardo, and it was amazing! The hotel is beautiful with authentic upscale finishes, but still cozy and inviting. It has the perfect balance of old world charm and modern conveniences. It's quiet even though you are in the middle of the city and steps away from shops and restaurants. Adita and Evan are wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable of the area, restaurants, and sites. Definitely my favorite hotel experience in Europe. This hotel is a true hidden gem. Thank you Adita and Evan for such a wonderful experience!

Excellent hotel! Great location! The beds were very comfortable and the linens were so soft and luxurious. One thing to keep in mind: there is no elevator in the hotel. Reception staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The only reason for the 4 star rating is the breakfast staff that were not so welcoming and unfriendly. Even when we complained, they were even more rude to us the next day which is why we decided to have breakfast at a nearby cafe on our third day. Besides the incident at breakfast, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again.

The staff and Ivan were such a pleasant surprise. The warm welcome and wonderful personal assistants from the hotel staff was such a lovely touch, we have never been treated this pleasantly by a hotel and the staff in all our years of travel. They showed great concern for our holiday satisfaction. The hotel itself was exquisitely decorated. The hotel although in the city was quiet and very comfortable they had everything we needed.

Top Notch Customer Service at Exclusive Boutique Hotel Our experience at Hotel Cardo was perfect. From the moment we arrived, the staff made every effort to ensure we felt welcome and enjoyed the hotel and all Split has to offer. The hotel is centrally located, beautifully accommodated, and I would highly recommend staying there while visiting Split. My wife and I began our trip to Croatia with 3 nights at Hotel Cardo. The three staff members at the 5-room boutique hotel provided individual attention throughout our visit. We couldn’t lift a finger (or a bag) if we tried. Ivan and the team were always there to provide assistance, make reservations, or point us in the right direction. One quick example – Ivan escorted us (and ALL of our luggage) to the ferry on our last day. Just before we boarded, he received a call and we had left a Kindle in the room. Ivan ensured we got on the ferry and 10 minutes later he arrived back at the ferry with Kindle in hand. I have no doubt he ran (likely a full out sprint!) to make sure he was back in time. Ivan and the team genuinely care about their customers’ experiences and go above and beyond to provide a high level of service.

What a spectacular boutique hotel in the center of the historical Diocletian Palace. My wife and I spent three wonderful days here. We can not say enough about the friendly and professional staff who not only make you feel at home, but also feel like new friends who are willing to do anything to make your stay in Split enjoyable, and love talking with their guests. The rooms are very unique and comfortable. We Highly recommend this fabulous hotel.

😠 DO NOT STAY HERE. As soon as I walked into my hotel room I got on my phone and tried to find an alternate hotel. This was by far the worst hotel I have ever seen. Says its a 4 star hotel but should be a 2 star. Walked into my room and there were stains all over the carpet- very very dirty. Requested...
