People's Square

Historical landmark

👍👍 A lovely little square located in the middle of old town Split. It is obviously popular with tourists but it's charming nonetheless. I would suggest come early morning for a coffee or late in the evening to escape the crowds. People often mention square, Split, town,

The medieval market square in Split is a charming little place full of restaurants and a few notable historic buildings, but not so notable that they will stand out in your memory. It is a nice place, but in Europe there are scores of small market squares just like this one, and so, in that way, it is very average. Restaurants are some of the most expensive in town and it is very nearly always brimming with tourists so don't expect to be able to take a quiet stroll in its environs.

This is a central place where everyone meets for lunch and shop. The beautiful buildings and all of the people moving about is truly a picture of art.

Hidden in Split, worth traversing to see old city. Split is not so amazing like Dubrovnik, but in last year’s development of harbor area made it tourist friendly.

Our Hotel was locaten in the Square. Fantastic choice of places to choose from for morning breakfast, lunch or dinner. Most places have good choice drinks including wine. We would try different restaurants each night and for breakfast. Its a good location to sit relax and rest your feet after walking down all lanes in old town.

One of favourite places to walk through in the city. Great location to grab some food or do some shopping. One of my favourite places in Spilt. Pjaca (People's Square, another square nobody in Split calls by its real name), is first mentioned in 13th century as St Lawrence's Square, and it was the first inhabited part of Split outside the Diocletian Palace, leaning to its western wall. Already for centuries the Pjaca is the central stage of the city life, there in the Gothic building of the Old Town Hall, today an exhibition centre, was the seat of the city's authority, and in still beautiful and preserved Palaces on the outskirts of the Pjaca lived the noble families Cambi, Pavlović, Nakić, Ciprianis, Karepić... Still open is one of the oldest book shops in the world, Morpurgo, to this day it looks almost the same as it looked in 1861, and in the Café Central where the intellectuals of Split gathered is where the tourism of Split begun with the former hotel Troccoli.

Nice place for a evening walk, the lights of the building are really nice. We ate at Bepa, you have to wait for a table but the waiting time was ok and it's totally worth it, the food it's great. About the square, it's really crouded in the evenings.

Stunning, as with the whole wee town. Just meander around and enjoy the wonderful area. There's a cash pont every ten feet in case you need cash 🤣🤣💶

Lots of lovely cafes to sit at and enjoy some refreshments while people watching. The history of the buildings around you is amazing. Some lovely little shops too.

Beautiful little plaza / square in Old Town Split - nice little cafes and restaurants with a variety of cuisines and prices. Great character and sitting here with a beer, looking around the square, you know you're in a city with several hundred years of rich history

People’s square is excellent place to spent the morning enjoying the ancient architecture of Split with a cup of espresso.
