this is hands down the best vegan food I've ever had in my entire life. I'm literally in awe, not only by the breathtaking food experience but also the comfort and love the vibe of this restaurant gives you which is also mirrored through the service. all I wanna say is that I had to hold back tears after finishing each meal. oh and the cocktails are A+++++ too. all the stars for this gem of a restaurant.

The restaurant scene in Zadar is kinda what you might expect from a seasonal tourist town: Lots of restaurants with similar menus featuring fish, pasta, meat, pizza, burgers, etc. Uninspired stuff tourists that like to eat. The food is across the board kinda "Meh" is what I'm saying. Enter The Botanist. This place is legit great. The caliber you'd find in a major capital's cool part of town. It is entirely vegan but will appeal to anyone seeking sophisticated fare, with fresh ingredients, innovative dishes, beautifully plated, and much friendlier and more helpful staff than most other places we ate in the city. For people who love meat and are skeptical of a vegan place, just get the beyond burger, it's there for you, and it's a very solid option. But they really shine when you try their homemade green burger (pictured), one of the better veggie burgers I've had in Europe. Their salads are also stand outs, with great seasonal flavor combinations (grilled peaches, this time of year). I cannot recommend this place highly enough. My only complaint is that I didn't find it earlier. If you're in Zadar, seriously, don't miss this gem. It is hands down the best food in the city, by a wide margin.

EDIT: I was there a second time because I loved the restaurant the first time. Now I have to say, that we waited 15 Minutes just for the drinking card. The staff was really unorganized. After we ordered food we probably waited another 30 Minutes for it. I was really disappointed unfortunately. It was a 5 star rating, now I can only give 4. The food was still amazing tho! OLD REVIEW: One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The spot is really beautiful. We had dinner while sunset and the most amazing view. The food tasted so good. I would even recommend it for people who usually don't eat vegan. Unfortunately its a bit expensive, we paid 700 kn for 2 People. But if you come to Zadar you should still try it!

After struggling to find much vegan food in Zadar this place was a blessing. Really high quality dishes and varied menu. On the higher end price wise, but this is reflected in the food which is more of a fine dining experience. Highly recommend try the Dik Dik, a dish made with Juicy Marbles "steak".

One of the best food experiences I have ever had. Not only the food was delicious and tasty but it had been prepared with a passionate attention to detail to create new vegan forms of expression. Recommended for all the natural food loving souls.

I'm primarily a foody and secondarily a carnivore. Whilst scouting Zadar for restaurants I stumbled upon this gem and decided to give it a go. It looked like a restaurant that would provide an interesting meal if nothing else. The high expectations were met in some dishes and exceeded in other. I would gladly go back to this restaurant to try some of their other creations. It was truly a great experience.

What an amazing place! Had an amazing culinary experience here, would recommend anyone (both vegan and non vegan) to check it out. It has a terrace located at the sea front, offering a stunning sunset. The menu is creatively put together, with personal stories for every dish and fun facts about interesting obscure animals. A delight to read and most importantly - to eat. Would definitely love to come back in the future if I’m ever back in Croatia again.

Food was amazing. Portions were huge. I could only eat my salad and had to take the burger home as didn't realise position's will be so big. Flavours were amazing, presentation was great and service was also very good. Very nice atmosphere. I also had the detox drink which was apple, ginger and celery and was great. A bit pricey, but would highly recommend. My husband is a meat eater, but said would come to eat here again as food is delicious 😋

The best meal we’ve had in Croatia so far. We are not vegans but the thoughtful and creative menu satisfied our omnivore eating habits. There is something for everyone - salad with yummy nuggets, gnocchi with vegan meatballs and lots of veggies, and fried eggplant that tasted like fish. Delicious! There is indoor and outdoor dining (we sat outdoor and watched the sunset). No reservations between 7-10 pm but we had a drink while we waited - maybe 5-10 minutes. Made me rethink my meat eating ways. Fabulous staff - they even brought out a bowl of water and treats for one diner’s dog. We went back for a second night it was so good.

Go there - you won't regret it! Best vegan food ever ever (even for non vegans), super friendly staff and sitting basically next to the waterfront. Everything is just perfection! During my 3 day stay in Zadar, I went there 3 times and I'm really sad, that I couldn't try all of their dishes, so I'll be back, that's for sure!

AMAZING! We stayed for a week in Zadar and had dinner every night out and this place is by far the best one! Spectacular service and the food ist just wonderful. Super excited to tell that it is one of the best places I have ever been. Food presentation was the best, we had 4 dishes from the main dish menu. All of them were savory and full of delicious flavors. Presentation of the food way you never forget. The restaurant concept is unique and special. Beautiful atmosphere and fabulous view, you can see the sunset. I would leave pics of the food. It is pricey but it is worth it. Desserts are out of the world. ❤️

Amazing atmosphere, delicious food, great staff, this place has everything to offer you an unforgettable gastronomic experience. The waiters are especially invested in helping you enjoy your meal. And what an amazing meal it is! Their concept is very well thought-out and executed. A little warning: this place is not budget-friendly, it’s a bit expensive. But if you can splurge a little, I guarantee that you will not regret it. It is definitely an experience to have to enrich your trip to Zadar.

ABSOLUTE MUST EAT! Last years didn't take the effort to review places, especially restaurants, but this one just stands out!! I'm a vegetarian trying to eat vegan as much as possible, but even for meat and fish eaters, this is a sublime restaurant. The dishes are all high quality, look stunning but most of all, taste heavenly!!! It feels and tastes gastronomic, while all the time you feel like you're actually eating meat/fish. Even the more 'plain' dishes like meatball pesto gnochhi will take you to heaven. We expected it to be expensive, but with main courses ranging from €15-25 and everything as locally produced as possible, the price was fair. The atmosphere is very romantic, with a 'homey and green' inside and large (but still cozy) outside accompanied by an astonishing sunset view. Service is friendly, knows the menu well and food comes quick. The menu is fully vegan, comes with an inspiring background story of the owners and extremely funny fun facts of different kinds of animals (after which the dishes are named). All in all, definitely worth the 4.9 star average that it gets. P.s. don't forget to grab a dessert, even when you're full😏

We've been here 4 times - The Botanist is an absolutely fantastic restaurant in all regards. We were there with our baby in a buggy - enough space for the buggy, easy access, high chair available and super helpful service, e.g. if we needed cutlery for feeding the baby. The food is delicious and special - not your standard dishes. We particularly loved the raw cake and the "Blue Footed Booby" salad. The service is fantastic - super nice and helpful. And the location is simply superb - beautifully decorated and right at the sea with a fantastic view.

Normally We don’t expect much in Croatia in terms of vegetarian/vegan food, but this place is just extraordinary! Service was very kind and fast, they explained the food quickly and the food itself was nothing I tried before! Interesting taste combinations, fresh and deep tones of different flavours. Portions were more than enough, definitely will come back.

It was one of the most elegant and creative vegan restaurant I have ever visited! The staff kept checking on us and made sure that i had gluten free food because of my allergies. Everyone was super friendly and the food was perfectly spiced and cooked as well as served. The servings could be a bit bigger for their prices because this place is not one of the cheapest places, but I personally believe it is worth it’s money. What i ate was scarily similar to real meat so it was a funny experience for me as a long time vegan! We ate an appetizer, two main dishes and two cocktails and had paid 70€. I would recommend and will definitely go back and try their other dishes!

The best dining experience I’ve ever had. From the AMAZING food, to our waiter Milos, to the view.. it was perfect. I’m already eager to visit Zadar again so I can experience this restaurant’s food another time. I didn’t want the meal to end, and so far it’s the best vegan food we’ve had in Europe, all the way from Australia.

We had a truly wonderful stay here. Saying that the food was marvelous would be an understatement. We absolutely loved it. Miloš was our waiter. He was extremely kind and polite and explained our dishes and what went well with them extremely well. If we are ever in Zadar we will make sure to come again.

It's not just another vegan restaurant, this is a top rating experience! Welcoming, warm, professional and super cool staff. Menu with original names that creates a joy to go through and pick, you feel like a child again filled with excitement what's behind the names. And what's behind is one of the most tasty foods the city of Zadar can offer. We tried juice and they match the food with quality. The prices are equally good. Conclusion, best experience, food, quality and price value in Zadar. And wider.

As a vegetarian for many years, I never tought I'll have a Wellington steak ever in my life. Well, I had it today at The Botanist and it was extraordinary. Both staff members were really nice (the cat and the waiter 😁), the decor is really intimate and beautiful too. When these people will get a Michelin star, I'll brag about eating here in its early days. (Bonus points for the reusable straws.)

Everything was to absolute perfection! Great service! Amazing customer experience, from the waiters to the chief! We would rate this more than 5 starts. Beautiful plating! Great location too! We loved all the small details! Stood in Zadar 3 days and basically had half the menu. Totally recommend this place! Will remain to our hearts and hope to come back again!

i love everything about this place! been there with my friend a few days ago. every person who worked there during our visit was kind, professional and had an amazing energy. food was delicious and portions were big. some of meals were very unique and i love it. this place is the best example that vegan doesn’t mean boring.

Very nice Vegan restaurant with tasty food even for un-vegetarian people like us. We went there for a break of non-stop meat meals and turned out to be fantastic experience. Their homemade Gnocchi with pesto touch is very tasty and the flavor is rich. The vegan steak tastes and looks like real steak, also the potato as side dish is crispy and tasty. Only downside is their Matcha Latte is not authentic or milky. I wont recommend but other than that, everything is very good.

Starting with our server, Vanja, was knowledgeable about all the dishes, very professional and yet very very friendly. The food was superb, with high quality ingredients. This place is a perfect alternative for anyone who wants to eat vegan but not miss any “meaty” options.

Amazing restaurant wow! I was so impressed to finally find vegan food in Croatia and it was great. I order just the gnocchi dish and a cucumber lemonade and the food is amazing, the dishes are take off of original Croatian dishes but in a vegan version so i got the change to taste the real food here. The prices are quite high but the food is in a very high quality, there is a sea view to dine in, very recommended.

If I could give this place a 4.5 I would. I really liked the concept of the restaurant and generally the food was really great but I was disappointed with my meal. While it was really tasty and there was clearly an art to making it, I just didn’t like it - it wasn’t for me. But my boyfriend really liked his meal! I would definitely go back and give this place another chance and order something else better suited to my palette. The waiter was really nice and made sure we checked out the reasoning and source of the meals. This was certainly something unique about the experience. If you want to get the sunset view I would suggest booking in advance! We were just a walk in and got sat right at the back.

Ate here last Monday. We are not vegetarians (read: real meat eaters) but OMG, what a delicious meal we had here! The service is incredibly friendly and attentive. We received great help from an employee from Serbia (we lost his name 😅) the view is beautiful. This is 100% repeatable. Really really enjoyed it.

Amazing service from Daniel, we felt very well looked after. They served high quality of drinks and food. They catered for allergens and the menu was clearly labelled. We would definitely come back and recommend to all regardless of your dietary preferences. The gorgeous view was a bonus!

We went to this restaurant twice in a row because it was so good. The tagliatelle and aubergine was very delicious and the cheese cake was the best vegan cheese cake I’ve ever tasted. The staff were very nice and knew a lot about the menu, the atmosphere was beautiful with the sunset. The only thing I didn’t like was the ice tea. But Thanks everyone!!!! Good work to making vegan restaurants sooo tasty and elegant.

This place is amazing and this is not only because of the venue itself but also because of the creative menu and the charming staff👍. Iva was our waitress and she has remarkable interpersonal skills.🌟 She is very friendly and efficient. She lets you know in a suitable way the elaboration of the dishes and creates a welcoming atmosphere. We had non alcoholic drinks, an appetizer, two main dishes, ice coffee and desserts. Everything was top notch quality 💯
