To be clear, this is not a park. It is a site set aside with grassland prairie grasses and a trail to mark a site sacred to the Dakota people. It does have good views of the Minnesota River valley, with the Mendota Bridge and Ft. Smelling across the way. The main stone markers commemorate the various Dakota tribes.

One of my favorite places in Eagan to go to watch planes land and take off at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, see the sites over the Twin Cities, watch the traffic on 55 and also watch some beautiful storms work across the region. I have not hiked all the trails there yet, but I do see a fair amount of people enjoying this area pretty often! One set back is there can be limited parking at times!

Cold and windy but learned so much about the Dakota tribes and their history. Our history isn't pretty but we need to learn about it,so not to repeat it.

Nice easy hike honoring the First Nations that were present in the Twin Cities area. Trail is well maintained, some unfortunate vandalism. Markers are a bit aged but good maps available at entrance. Great views of Minneapolis and Ft. Snelling. Would probably be a good easy snowshoe trail in winter too.

Great place to see the Minneapolis skyline. Beautiful flowers and scenery. It's a very relaxing place for a walk too.

This is just a short trail that officially starts adjacent to Acacia Park Cemetery that leads to circular marker consisting of 7 large rocks with different Dakota tribal band names etched into them. (Acacia Park Cemetery is official part of the preservation site but is considered private property.) There's also an unofficial trail that leads down to Sibley Memorial Highway. It has a beautiful view of Minneapolis and its skyline in the distance. You can also see MSP International Airport, St. Paul, and parts of Fort Snelling from here. Highway 55/Highway 62 right below this site is visible and makes it unfortunately rather noisy with all of the traffic. Besides that, there's some prairie and trees to look at. It does feel like a somber place to reflect on the history that has occurred here and the significance that this place has within the indigenous community of this region, including its use as a burial ground. There's a very informative brochure at the start of the trail and information placards along the way.

Great views of the river valley, the Mendota bridge, MSP airport, downtown Minneapolis (and St. Paul - peeking through) and sometimes bald eagles soaring. Great spot for short walk; a kind of oasis at the very end of Pilot Knob road. There are a few parking spots and some signs explaining the cultural and historical significance - but very spare and simple.
