This is a very interesting park to go to. Not many people know about this location. Just for the fun of it, I counted 116 steps so it is quite a workout getting to the top. The view from the top however makes it very much worth it. Tip: bring a camera to capture the views from the top! It can also be rather windy at the top.

This was an amazing place to visit, glad they made this into a park instead of building on it or destroying it for the sake of archeology. These mounds should be saved as a sacred place. The view from the top is amazing! If you have trouble walking or breathing like I do, just take your time, I had to stop like 4 or 5 times to get there but it was worth it.

Nice quiet place to take your kids and see a lot of beautiful scenery. Covered picnic tables, Barbecue Pit, playground, and of course the mound.

Awesome piece of history with spectacular views of the surrounding area. There are signs that tell the story behind this park.

This is pretty cool. The mound itself is not quite as big as I thought it would be but I appreciate that they are trying to keep native plantings on it and weed out invasive species. There are a lot of carpenter bees right now in the spring, but at least they don't sting. The mound *does* feel bigger when you walk up the steps and see the view from the top! I'm glad there are several benches at the top to sit for a bit. Otherwise, the rest of the park is a nice recreational park with picnic areas, a big party pavilion, bathrooms, etc. Great place for a birthday party, a picnic, or to take the dog out. It's right next to the golf course too.

Cool place to stop. Great views. Interpretive signs are pretty good at telling the story of this place. Could use more info about the natives that occupied this place in the past.

A great stand alone ancient mound of impressive height, sadly surrounded by a golf course, and with some old signage with minimal information. Any other mounds or earthworks in the area must have been destroyed over the years, or under the golf course. But the mound itself is still impressive and well worth the drive to see, with beautiful views from the top. There is a bathroom and some park benches. It’s a quiet green area with some locals using the mound to run up and down for exercise.

Been going to this mound since the early 70’s and not too much has changed, thankfully. It’s nice early in the morning watching the sun rise from the top of the mound. So many mounds destroyed, so they can build highways and shopping malls. I just learned about one called Himes mound in Centerville. Never heard of it my whole life until couple days ago.

One of the largest burial mounds in the eastern US. It is over 100 steps to get to the top, and you will have a great view of the area from up there. The mound has not been fully excavated, so who knows what interesting things are buried there. If you choose to visit this or any burial mound, please be respectful of the land and it's former inhabitants.

★★☆☆☆ Popularity ★☆☆☆☆ Size/Location ★★★★★ Terrain ★★★★★ Scenery ★★★★☆ Accessibility ★★★★☆ Amenities ★★★★★ Condition ★★★★★ Safety Date visited: 10/02/2022 On a crisp and sunlit autumn day, a former friend extended an invitation to explore a remarkable historical park. Little did I know that this outing would mark the prelude to a regrettable sequence of events. Nevertheless, as we arrived at the park around noon, the landscape unfolded before us, bathed in solitude with only a scattering of vehicles belonging to fellow visitors. The unmistakable landmark of this park, a pyramid-shaped mound, drew our immediate attention, a silent sentinel to the history it held. We soon noticed that preparations were afoot for a grand celebration in one of the open shelters. A trove of food, drinks, and festive decorations lay strewn across the benches beneath the shelter's humble roof. A valiant woman fought against the gusty winds of autumn, striving to maintain the integrity of their outdoor setup. The shelter, without walls or barriers, offered little protection from the elements. Undeterred, we pressed on, ascending the steep but short flight of stairs leading to the summit of the mound. The ascent appeared to have quite an effect on my former friend, whose breath quickened as if in the presence of a captivating muse. Upon reaching the top, our attention was captivated by a group of spirited youngsters occupying the small platform that crowned the mound. They conversed boisterously, a mixture of sitting and standing, while stone benches served as both seating and feeble barriers, posing a distinct risk of accidental descents. Unfazed by their lively interaction, we discreetly positioned ourselves with our backs turned to the group, all the while entranced by the breathtaking panorama of the distant landscape. It was as if we could see, in the hazy distance, the city of Dayton itself. The far-off view conjured a sense of grandeur and emboldened a spirit of adventure. Throughout my life, I had been ensconced in the confines of a bustling city, hemmed in by concrete alleys and surrounding buildings. This expansive vista seemed nothing short of divine, awakening a deep-seated appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. The wind held greater sway atop the mound, its chill more pronounced, and it was as though our presence had cast a spell over the youngsters, causing them to disperse one by one. Filled with a tinge of guilt, we, too, began our descent, which proved to be a delightful experience in itself. And so it was, our visit to Miamisburg Mound Park came to an end. This was one of the final excursions we undertook before our friendship unraveled into bitter acrimony. Yet, despite the discord that would soon unfold, there remained a cherished collection of pleasant moments from our shared experiences. All in all, this historical park stands as a splendid destination for exploration and edification. Nestled within a tranquil neighborhood, it exudes an air of safety and affords the opportunity to uncover intriguing historical insights. Furthermore, the town of Miamisburg boasts its own assortment of attractions, making it an ideal post-excursion destination.

Keep in mind that the mound is a burial site and be respectful. The mound itself is beautiful and once reaching the top, you are rewarded by a scenic view of the surrounding flat landscape below. There are informative educational signs at the park that will give you an idea of the history of the mound and State Memorial. Worth visiting for those who are interested in the mounds and earthworks of Ohio.

This Miamisburg Mound park is beautiful. 37 acres of very well kept property. The mound is surrounded by park with very nice shelter house, play area for children and grounds are lavishly green. There are stone stairs going to top of huge mound with resting platforms between the continuing stairs going up. The top was breathtaking. You can see all of the park, a beautiful golf course next store, and many buildings in the area. The stairs are many, but worth the climb.

Welcome to the LARGEST conical earthwork in Ohio. The Miamisburg Mound is classified as burial, signal or sacrificial, but it could have been all 3. The Adena culture was widespread from Indiana to New York and Central Ohio south to Kentucky. There are several mounds in Southern Ohio. The view is just breathtaking. The wind was fierce. All worth it!!

This sacred burial mound is the largest in the State of Ohio. This mound lacks the artistic beauty and advanced astronomy of Serpent Mound, but its massive size sets it apart. The fascinating part of this story not being reported, are the eight to ten foot tall human skeletons found nearby many of these mounds. These are the skeletons of the Giants who built the ten thousand plus mounds and earthworks in the central Ohio Valley. The first white men inquired of the local native American Indians regarding who built the mounds, and they conveyed the mounds were already there when they settled the area. The Smithsonian Institute has a repository of giant human skeletons from all over the United States, but is presently unable to locate this collection. DNA research into this mystery has undoubtedly already confirmed the following scripture to be true. Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim (giants) were on the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God (angels) came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown

We had my granddaughters birthday party here and it was great! Play area for kids right by the shelter. We were in the Rotary Shelter and it was perfect for about 20 people. There is electric there too, so we could keep hot food hot!

Great place to get in touch with the earth spirits, get your steps in, see the vast expanse of the Miami Valley, and look down on what was a nuclear facility across the street. This is a quaint park with a lot of history that you can really feel if you are looking for it. As a native 'burger I grew up in the Mound's shadow. I attended Mound elementary (go Gophers and, as Mr. Bartley always said, "Feel good about yourself."), and when I worked for the Parks and Rec dept even used a weedeater to clean up the old fence lines around the perimeter and up the steps! If you are in the area for the first time this is a must visit and then head into downtown Miamisburg to the Hamburger Wagon for another taste of local history.

My husband and I went at night last week during a meteor shower. It was the most beautiful vantage point to watch the night sky. It's beautiful during the day too! Nice little park with swings, slides, and a covered shelter. The mound itself is the prize of the trip. It's enormous! Not the easiest to walk up if you're not used to many stairs, but the 360° view from the top platform makes the climb worth it. Miamisburg is a beautiful place and you can see miles in every direction!

Although small, this park is really a cool place. There are 2 playgrounds and parking on site. The Mound is a site to see. The history of it is interesting as well. I definitely recommend a visit. There are a lot of stairs to get to the top but the view is worth it.

Interesting stop because of the history. Nice size park with a shelter house with picnic tables, restrooms facilities, playground, and ample parking. Can't be too out of shape if you want to make it to the top. Nice views, be an awesome spot to watch the sun set

This is a nice mound. I went here to see the mound and was satisfied with my experience. I drove up here in my car and parked at the mound’s parking lot, which is an average small sized parking lot. I got out of my car and walked up to the top of the mound along the mound’s stairs. The were a lot of step, and they weren’t that well maintained. Some pieces of steps were broken and there were cracks in other steps. Once I got to the top of the mound, I admired the view for a while before sitting down on one of the benches on the top of the mind. There is one long bench that lines the top of the mound, going from the left side of the steps to the right side of the steps. The bench is made out of wood and it feels like a normal wooden neck. The floor on the top of the mound had some cracks in it. After I sat down on the mound’s bench, I walked back down to the bottom of the mound. The mound is in a park which has a playground and a roofed pavilion with picnic benches in it. After going on top of the mound, I walked back to my car and drove away, satisfied with my experience. I gave this mound five stars because it’s a nice view with a nice view on top of the Miamisburg area and the skyline of downtown Dayton in the distance.

Nice historical place to just relax and spend time at the top, with a great view as long as it's not too hot. Not bad getting up to the top but just be careful of some uneven areas. Kids loved it.

We've been coming to this park since I was a kid. It's not very big, but there's a picnic shelter, playground, and restrooms (seasonal?). It's a great workout to go up the stairs of the mound a few times. My parents used to bring us here every year for the amateur radio picnic.
