Shamus was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable, he went at a great pace and had facts I don’t believe we would have learned everywhere. He made the tour so much fun, I didn’t want it to end. This is a must to see all the sites! Note we don’t go in the sites but you end at the independence hall so you can easily buy tickets to go in the hall. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to know the history of our great nation in Philadelphia!

Our Jazzercise Cherry Hill instructor team and guests participated in the holly jolly trolley to celebrate this holiday season together! We had a fantastic time. The trolley was beautifully decorated, Jeremy was SO much fun as our leader and musician, our driver, Chris became our DJ and got us safely around the city… And we sang, laughed and enjoyed the sights! Craft Hall was also a great meetup spot before and after. Everyone had festive fun and we highly recommend the experience!!

I was celebrating my birthday and had the best time with our guide Warren!! His energy was infectious and we so enjoyed him and his silent partner Mark who made sure he carried us safely on our tour. We learned, laughed and danced with the other guests who seemed to equally enjoy the trolley tour. Thanks everyone for a great time!

Warren our tour guide was hilarious! This tour was the highlight of our weekend and highly recommend this tour. He mixed some history with some of his comical personality, throw in some beers and your in for a fun ride! He even played our song and allowed me to serenade my lovely wife.

Where to begin? Our experience with the Founding Footsteps team was beyond amazing!! Upon booking the historic comedy tour I had a million question but the team was very patient and answered all questions while providing suggestions to enhance our experience. The tour itself was very informative and our tour guide Tim kept us laughing the entire trip. We had family with us from out of state and they received the full Philly experience while some of us who were born and raised still had our minds blown by things we were unaware of! We would highly recommend this tour to everyone! What a fantastic day full of knowledge, love, and laughter!

Jay is the man! He guided us in a proper fashion telling us stories and important dates that led to American Independence and exceptionalism. Would like to make a suggestion —- perhaps a handout or a link could be given that highlights the important historical dates and buildings.

This is an absolute must do experience in Philly! The tour is informative, funny, and the perfect way to see the main highlights of the city in around 2 hours. You also get opportunities to hop off and get some iconic Philly pictures. Definitely book this thing before it sells out!!

Our experience was fantastic! We had a great time and it was so much fun! Jeremy and Hannah sang beautifully together and got the whole group into the spirit. Warren was a really fun guide and Nate safely navigated the festively decorated trolley around the city. Highly recommend this company!

Great holiday light tour. The trolley took us around a couple of Philly neighborhoods to see the holiday decorations. On board we had a guide, a guitar player and a singer, providing xmas songs for us to sing along to. Lots of fun!

To date, I have purchased 11 tickets to the byob Philly your. That’s how good it is. I’ve been once with my significant other, once with my 3 kids, and once with my kids and my father. Additionally, I’ve also done one of the night tours in October. I think it was something like scary stories? In short, I’ve spent a ton of money on these tours because they are well worth the price. It’s informative and funny. There’s a nice balance to it and the atmosphere is fun. I also appreciate that the tour guide is the owner. It’s great to support a small business and he feels invested in a way that you do not get with the big corporate companies. While the tour is byob it’s still family friendly. You get to see all the Philly sights. There are spots you can get off and walk around, take pictures. My personal favorite is the Rocky portion of the tour. Things to know, the benches you sit on are hard wooden benches and there’s not a ton of room. It can at times be a little uncomfortable if you’re a bigger person. There’s a few stops where you can buy things but they only take cash or only take cards, so come prepared. There’s a lot of parking around the Betsy Ross house but the metered parking often has a 2 hour limit. So be careful. I have used it and never gotten a ticket but it would def suck to have that happen. There’s a small convenience store not too far from the Betsy Ross house you can make some last minute purchases from if needed. Lastly, I appreciate that he is a former teacher who has several programs for youth in the city. I’m a social worker at a high school in Newark NJ. I can tell you first hand those types of programs mean the world to kids! It is a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it.

Fantastic tour! Live in South Jersey (the one structural flaw of the Ben Franklin Bridge...hahahaha) but had the opportunity to take friends celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary on the Old City tour and I was not disappointed. Our guide, Seamus, was top notch. He knew his stuff, injected timely humor, and gave us time to explore. All the sites you want to see in Old City and we enjoyed beautiful weather and a manageable group size on Memorial Day weekend. Awesome experience!

My friend and I enjoyed this laid back trolley ride through Philly. The guide was very knowledgeable and offered us many fun facts and details about the city. It’s a great way to see many things if you are only in town for a short trip like me. We also got to meet the guides wife and son which was very sweet! Would definitely recommend!

This was by far the cutest and most personable little light tour through the streets of Philly. My friends were skeptical at first, but the holiday magic was REAL here. The guide and musical talent were clearly having a blast, and the warmth and joy was just so palpable. It was lovely to be able to hop off and walk a little, and the 2 hours that seemed like a long time before we got on felt like it was too short by the end! We will surely be back. Thank you for such a unique holiday experience.

Having lived our entire lives in the Philadelphia area, you’d think my husband and I would know everything about Ben Franklin and the historical sites that shaped the nation. Well, we didn’t so we decided to take the Olde City walking tour. Jay was our tour guide and his stories not only held our interest but were highly entertaining. We laughed. We learned. And we had fun doing it. History class was never so much fun. The Quaker Meeting House, Elfreth’s Alley and Christ Church were personal favorites. Jay also shared great information about Philly’s murals. We can’t wait to take another tour!

Our tour today, with Seamus, was such a great experience! As a native Philadelphian, who has taken many trips to old city Philly during the years, Seamus did Philadelphia proud today! His accounting of the history, peppered with great anecdotes kept us all engaged throughout our tour. I highly recommend this Founding Fathers Tour to anyone, young and old. You will not be disappointed! You will leave with a great understanding of the foundation of our country and unparalleled commitment of our founding fathers to create this beautiful country.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. The time I had the tour booked for it was predicted to rain. He offered to move the booking to avoid the rain (I already had another tour booked on the USS New Jersey afterward). So even with only three people he still did the tour and luckily the weather cleared up about 15 mins in. Great experience and amazing customer service.

My partner and I had such an amazing time on the BYOB Trolley Tour around Philly. It is not one of those stuffy tours where someone is barking information at you while you get to sip along. We laughed, sang, learned some fun facts about the city and got to stop at the big picture spots along the way. My only feedback is that the seats near the front are small, so be smart about where you're seated if you're tall like us (I'm 6' and he's 6'4"). Our group ended up leaving more like a cute little family- a special thanks to Warren and Sheila for making it truly spectacular!

Fantastic tour all around! I booked as a corporate event, and from the minute of contacting Founding Footsteps until the day of the tour, everything was absolutely seamless. Not only was the tour customized to what we were looking for, but it was also super informative and funny! A great time and a relaxed way to learn more about Philadelphia’s rich cultural history. Lovely & comfortable old school trolley and the tour being BYOB was an extra bonus. We loved the cheesesteak stop at Campo’s (great vegan cheesesteaks too). Our guide was super funny….and the tour music was fabulous as well. Highly recommend this private BYOB trolley tour!

Seamus was great…. Greeted everyone with a warm welcome and had great knowledge of the tour whilst friendly and fun. Don’t let the fact that it’s a walking tour out you off as you are never more than 3 blocks from the staring point. It wasa great way to get to know the history of Philadelphia and then explore in more detail on your own afterwards…. We would highly recommend this tour.

We did a tour with Shamus and he was a fabulous guide! Very informative and kept us engaged the whole time. Would definitely recommend this tour for people who want to learn about American history and see interesting sites in Philadelphia. Note that we did not go into any of the buildings we stopped at during the tour.

So much FUN! It was a blast participating in the first ride of this comprehensive Philly music tour! From the funky trolley decor to the live music onboard to the Philly music history gems that were shared along the way... a truly incredible time with some really cool people! Keep up the good work Tim and Co.!!!

Hands down the funniest most enjoyable tour of Philadelphia I’ve been on! We had Ed as our guide. He’s hilarious! And super knowledgeable about history of Philadelphia. He is a master at combining Philadelphia’s rich history with imaginative humor, and modern day context. This tour borders on the genre of comedy. It was a thrill. Definitely recommend it!

When touring Philadelphia, no trip is complete without visiting the historical sites. There are many museums and special exhibitions to see, but to get a more in-depth view of our nation's history, a walking tour with a local historian is a must. After researching several tour companies, we chose Founding Footsteps Tours, and we opted for a private tour to avoid a larger group due to covid as well as to have dedicated attention from the guide so all our questions would be answered. We were fortunate to have as our guide Casey, who is not only a local resident but also is a history teacher. He spent over two hours with us, walking us all across historic Philadelphia, stopping at the many sites: The Liberty Bell, grave site of Benjamin Franklin, Firehouse Engine 8 Ladder 2, Betsy Ross' house, Elfreth's Alley, the Franklin's printing press shop and home site, and ending at Independence Hall, with a smattering of a few other places in between. He was a terrific tour guide and we highly recommend Founding Footsteps for your Philadelphia historic tours.

Such a fun experience! We were a group of 8 and we’re so pleased with e writhing. The check in process, the trolley, the locations, and especially the music were fantastic! The event got all of us in the Christmas spirit! Highly recommend!!!

We took the holiday lights tour. It is a great way to start your holiday and get in the Christmas spirit. Chris and Ashton were the best! I live in Philly and this was a great way to see it all decked out in its holiday best! The sing along on the bus was so much fun. There were 32 of us on the bus! Oh What Fun! 🎄🎅🏼

We did the holiday light tour. Maybe it's because it was the very last tour of the season, but we were a little disappointed. We weren't able to get out at many stops, and it seemed like there were places they skipped altogether. The energy in the Trolley was fun, the singers were wonderful. We just wished they'd let us out and spent more time in some places.

Seriously one of the best tours I have ever had. Did I learn a lot? No. Did I have a blast? Hell yeah. The tour guide really felt the atmosphere and crowd he had on the bus and make sure everybody felt safe, had a laugh and didn't want to mis a thing. Thank you, this was the high light in Philly!

We loved this tour! Seamus is an awesome comversationalist— it never felt scripted. He was open to questions and his jokes were great. I would absolutely recommend this tour and our guide to anyone. He is definitely a history buff and loves his city!

This tour was wonderful, fun, and very informative. Seamus was so knowledgable and truly loves sharing that knowledge. When there was confusion on the start time he very kindly called to check on us so that we didn’t miss the tour. Highly recommend!!!!!

I booked Founding Footsteps BYOB tour for a group of customers. It was extremely fun for everyone! The owner, Tim, was very helpful, accommodating, and professional. It turned out he was the guide and very funny as well! Rebecca from his staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. I highly recommend this tour!

Took a tour in Philly today and had a great time! Ryan Hahn was a fabulous guide. He had lots of interesting facts to share but kept it fun for the kids. My son had lots of questions and Ryan was very patient and answered them all. I would request Ryan again for sure!

Overall the tour was great. The tour guide had a lot of interesting information interspersed with some humor. The tour had several places to sit and listen in case people needed a rest. The tour guide also pointed out good places to visit along the way if we wanted more information.

Entertaining and interesting tour led by charming and engaging tour guide Tim. We live in Philly but had an out of town guest and are so glad we decided to join her on this historical tour. Tim provided lots of info about places and people with important Black history included. Highly recommend this tour!

  • 5/5 Jim H. 2 years ago on Google
Well worth the price. A visit to Philadelphia visiting the historic sights of our country's founding is a must. Our walking tour (an easy walk) with Tim was a great supplement to the historical sites. Tim (a former teacher) provides a well researched, informative, entertaining, and funny narrative. We learned a lot about our Founders especially Philly's own Ben Franklin, who was a fascinating man of many accomplishments. Highly Recommended!!!

My husband and I really enjoyed the Founding Footsteps trolley tour! We were able to sit comfortably while enjoying the sights of Philly! The jokes kept us laughing the whole time! We’ve done the big bus tours before but this was way more fun and felt like we were getting a more up-close tour of the city’s famous sights. We highly recommend and plan to come back with friends next time!
