This was our first visit to Bokkie Park. We where definitely impressed. There are bunnies, ducks, grease, and chickens all wondering around. U can feed the animals and jus picnic around them. There are also horses goats and loads more to see. If u are in the area it is definitely worth the visit.

Impressed with the state of the animals and upkeep of the park. Some animals don't even want to eat what you bring because they're well fed. Hay all over and truck with veg and greens. Only worry is the leaning water pipes next to the dam, iy needs to be addressed. Family favorite spot for picnics

A very beautiful public park farm. You will find goats, sheep's, ducks and all kinds of farm animals roaming freely in this public park. Great spot to take the kids out on a sunny day.

Had a lovely morning walk around the park. Loved all the various animals and birds. Went again recently, the park is great, loving it Visited again today, I think it was family day because they were everywhere. Thing is they were all so friendly & it was a fantastic vibe. Met the most beautiful family. It was a good day.

I've been going there since I was a little girl. A few years ago te Bokkie park was at it's lowest. It's nice to see that the place is taken care of again, tat the animals are taken care of. Animals come easily to people and invite themselves for something to eat, kids loved it.

This Boksburg gem of a farm is really sad to experience at this state of poor maintenance. However it is still a great space to take a walk and also let the kids run around freely after the lockdowns. Feed and engage with the remaining animals. This place is a sanctuary in Boksburg and the market happens every first Saturday of the month. Lovely environment to get some fresh air indeed. The rabbits and the peacocks are beautiful.

What a awesome little park. Great venue with lots of slides for the kids to play on. Pond, trees, train and so much more to look at. Love the houses and rabbits. You can buy food for the animals and this is definitely a place to bring the kids if you looking for something to do with them. Worth a visit

Used to go to this place all the time. Such a shame its in such poor conditions. Last time i visited was in 2019 and i truely wouldn't go back especially now. You used to be able to eat on the train and explore it. Now its just a major hazard. We would buy carrots to feed animals. And often visited the Craft Market as a child on Saturday. The dams are filthy and you hardly see the animals there used to be. I hope they can work on this or it will close like the other Bokkie parks.

Iconic Park in Boksburg. We went there as children and now my own little girl enjoys riding a pony and feeding the rabbits. The Park and the animals are not in a bad state. Thank you to whoever is maintaining it. There are very few places left in this condition that have no entrance fee.

Love hanging out here. The animals just have a way of bringing tranquility to one's being. The park is generally well maintained and kept clean, but there are some thatch roofs that need attention. Another problem is the dirty water. Parks department should invest in a filtration system.

Great fun to take my girl and Wife for som Family time. Riding the pony, feeding the rabbits, climbing and sliding on the aparatus, great music by an entertainer, alot of stals where people try selling goods and services. Great Organizing. Flea Market every month

So disappointed in the state of the park itself. There is litter everywhere. In the dam, in the trees. Around the the kids play area. This was not new litter, as we were there early in the morning. The Bokkie park has these great big trees but all the benches are in the sun. Half the park is unaccusable due to water damming up. I suggest park management rethink the products sold in the little shop. Going eco friendly would represent well.

Was a great day out and lots of animals to see. Sad however that the grounds is not too well maintained as well as an injured peacock with a limp who seems to be a little neglected. Entrance however is free, but personally I would not mind paying a few rand to enter if the money went to upkeep for the grounds and animals. All said, a good place to visit and fun to feed the various animals roaming around... PS Beware of the geese... They are mean 😅

Took my grandson to ride his bike and feed the animals... And he loved it. The place needs a bit of maintenance but despite that, there were lots of families enjoying a sunny winters day. He quickly found friends to play and run around with. Much cheaper than going to a mall! And good exercise for me too.

I love the Bokkie park, I have so many fond memories coming through and feeding the animals and just chilling next to the pond. BUT, it has such potential to be something much better. There is so much open space that could be utilized to put more animals in, and some of the structures around the place are falling apart and are in dire need of repair. The place has such potential, there just needs to be someone to fulfil that potential.

It was much improved since my last visit (several months ago). A couple of park keepers were patrolling around and actually getting people to comply with the sign-posted rules, such as not chasing and catching animals and playing loud music. I also saw a team of 5 men cleaning out the goat enclosure, and guys driving around and dropping off food for the animals. It was also much cleaner and generally seemed better cared for. My grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed their visit.

This place is free and you can go there anytime Sometimes the animals look neglected but I have personally seen them being fed tons and tons of food. Also visitors also bring food for the animals. Bread though isn't healthy for ducks. And the kids chase the bunnies which is a little unkind and no one reprimands them Staff are well blasé about the rules they only enforce no music or alcohol You can also braai here. No dogs allowed

A great place to be, with plenty animals to see and plenty of space for kids to play. Been going to the park since I was a tiny tot myself and always a pleasure to revisit the park and feed the animals, swing and have a picnic and braai. The toilets are a tad dark and I'm not a fan of their toilet paper but other than that, a fun day out

A relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Take plenty of bread and veggies, and enjoy getting close up to all the animals for a personal feed. SO rewarding! Note: As at Aug 2020, park closed due to COVID, expected to re-open soon, possibly from Spring/Sep 2020. Animals can be fed from the perimeter gates, they all gather instantly at the sight of people/food.

This is a great family and or romantic place where you can escape from the city and become one with nature again. A huge population of geese, ducks and the odd swan will come up to you for a treat. Many rabbits will come and lay at your feet for some attention. The park is reasonably kept a good condition. Entry is free, braai facilities are on place and frequently flea markets are hold over weekends.

a great park to be at , the only glitch I have is the closing time half past 4 is way too early , 6 o clock should be the norm.

  • 3/5 Ebrahim M. 2 years ago on Google
The Bokkie Park is a beautiful haven of nature in the middle of suburbia that kids and adults always thoroughly enjoy. Spacious with plenty of greenery around, and plenty of animal feeding opportunities. Downside: 1.Over time a deterioration of lapas, park equipment etc is clearly visible, and with no consistent maintenance and upgrades this beautiful park could fall apart spectacularly, and become an unpleasant place to visit. 2. Why is management apparently allowing random vehicles of visitors to enter the premises to load/offload picnic items? This driving through the park will incur damage and alter the character of the park. 3. October 2021. Dams are in a very concerning state. Once clear water is now a dark green or grey. Putrid smell. Clearly a sewage leak or the like, a danger to ducks, fish and other animals, and the kids and parents visiting. Disturbing to note that something seemingly identical occurred in 2020 as well. Surely contingencies need to be in place to prevent such hazardous problems recurring

First time visitor on Saturday 3 August 22. Lots of interesting stalls. Near the dam there was water that was very dirty with children and geese about. There were deep holes all over the place and for us elderly you had to keep your eyes on the ground all the time. Spoilt the visit .

Park is very dilapidated. Was there 4 yrs ago and now it was very disappointing to go there. A lot of the things has not been maintained. The wooden jungle gym is dangerous as the planks are rotting away. It only gets 3 stars as the kids enjoyed the few animals
